October 12, 2021 5.0 I've been using telegram for 7 years and my experience with it has been consistently excellent, I have always been impressed by their dedication to continuous improvement and innovation. I think there are a few things that can be tweaked but it is a 9.5/10 experience overall, best in class in my opinion. Pros Telegram has a plethora of features that make it perfect for use as either a social or business platform for communications such as:scheduled messages, the ability to create groups and super groups with varying permissions for each individual member of those groups. The ability to edit and delete messages is a great asset that is implemented in a much more complete way than other messaging apps The saved messages tab which allows you to store important information is also super convenient. For communications that need to be private or secure, secret chats and self destructing messages are a great options. I also personally enjoy how well gifs are integrated into the app. It also has its own voice and video call integrated...so it's an excellent one stop shop for communication. One of it's best features is the ability to use the app on various devices without them being tethered to your mobile. Lastly telegram's servers rarely if ever seem to go down or come under load significant enough to result in outages for it's user base and makes it a super reliable choice for all use cases Cons A particular peeve of mine is that the app will notify you when other people join and on days when there is spike in popularity the notifications can become overwhelming, granted this feature can be turned off but I am unsure it needs be on by default anyway. While it does offer video and voice calls sometimes the quality of these are not up to the standard of platforms that are more dedicated to either of these services. Pros I love the varied features and regular updates Telegram provides. It's awesome for our team, as we have about 60 employees, and we provide and moderate a group chat for our general staff, leadership team, and an admin-only posting text chain specifically for sharing important documents. It's wonderful to be able to add or remove users for chats, limit excessive posters, make chats specifically for announcements and documents, etc. As a side note, the stickers and customization on Telegram are also top notch. Both the mobile and desktop applications are well designed and sync to the same account, so I can send messages both at my desk and on the move with ease. Can share images, text, documents, pdfs, etc too. Oh yes, and you can pin messages! So when someone has something extra important to say, it can be prioritized. The search feature for a chat is also well made so finding old messages is easy, you can edit and delete messages if you make typos or send by accident before you were done. Cons I honestly don't have much on the bad side to say, other than on occasion calls don't register on the mobile application unless the app is already open, so most times I don't hear calls unless I am sitting at my desk and hear it ring through the desktop application, then I have to open it on my phone to get the call to show up. Pros In the current version of the app, some functions have added a lot of value to the continued use of Telegram, such as increasing the normal audio speed up to 2x, which was and still is one of the biggest difficulties of social networks, when you have a long audio. From our own experience, in our team we always send long explanatory audios and this function helps us save time both in using the app and in performing our work. Another positive function is that we can access the messages saved for consultation at another time, this makes access much easier, even when we are offline. Having an access of multi units in video call to group chat of about 2000 contacts gives one a good reach and keeps the other end interacted at all times. I was able to join channels that allow me to find freelance graphic design jobs. I was able to deliver most of the paid works on Telegram because I could send documents in their actual, uncompressed sizes. And because Telegram's local and cloud backup feature was so efficient, most of my work, messages with clients and sent and/or received files were always saved across all devices. Pros The main thing about Telegram, of course, is too many features! For messaging software, Telegram offers more and does more. I can delete messages at any point in time for both me and the person I'm messaging. I can customize my interface with my preferred colour schemes (I am a huge fan of customization). I can search for channels that offer services on anything ranging from Movies, games, news about new trends and the latest graphic designs. And that is just the tip of the iceberg! Cons The irony is, that what I like most about Telegram is also what I like least. It has so many features that I forget it's primarily a messaging app. Also, the UI customization is quite complicated and hard to grasp, it took me quite some time to work my way around it.
