My experience as a Telegram user has been excellent. They have very efficient customer service. It seems to me that Telegram is a very complete software, perhaps the number one of its kind. In my opinion it is far ahead of its competition (in every way). Another aspect that seems very important to me is that its policies are not prohibitive, but on the contrary, they allow the use of the application for almost all types of activities. I really like Telegram. Pros Among the multiple advantages that Telegram presents are: a large number of gifts, animations, open group functions, its simplicity of use, how easy it is to attach small and large files, how easy it is to attach photos and music to messages, You can change the themes and background colors, you can choose from a large number of stickers. One of my favorite features is the secret chat and its ability to self-destruct messages, as well as not leaving any traces. Visually the application is excellent. I get to know more about projects etc... Pros I like the fact that a channel and group can contain thousands of persons in it which isn't available in WhatsApp. I love the many gifs and big emojis. I love how you can customize your app to your taste. The folder feature comes in handy when you have many groups and channels you're interacting with. Cons Unfortunately they're many scammers on the site looking for who to defraud, so one has to be very careful when chatting on the site. Messages don't load until your data is on which is a put off to me. An account shouldn't get deleted after months of inactivity. You can't see the members in a channel only in a group. Cons You can only have a max of 30 people on video chats while the rest have to be on audio, which makes it so that you have to do a head count for every meeting. Also, you cannot react to messages like you can in Signal or FB Messenger for example, which forces you to reply directly or else risk the recipient think you're ignoring them. Generally, it's much better than any other app I've tried. Wickr is possibly more privacy-focused as it's not asking for phone numbers but as of privacy, I tend to rely more on Threema than anything else. Pros Privacy and features. Other apps claim end-to-end encryption but it's not exactl so. For example WhatsApp and Viber are claiming to have end to end encryption by default. BUT, they also ask to back up conversations, and if you don't chose NO, they are kept in google servers unencrypted. That's not exactly honest in my opinion because it's not clear. About Fb messenger - there is not even question about privacy - you're just publicly talking. What's funny about messenger and facebook, is Zuck asked Pink Floyd to use the 'another brick in the wall' song, what's actually exactly the opposite of what FB is doing. But, Waters gave him the right answer :) Cons It's connected to a phone number. As far as I know, Durov never gave a reason for that, but it is certainly not necessary for an app that claims privacy as its main asset. For some clients, I just have to set up and take care of the company's marketing, and the telegram is essential at those times.
