Action1 Reviews
Pros
Once I added our domain, the computers started showing up in the dashboard immediately. It has an excellent suite of tool that helps the IT department save time.
There's a clear and comprehensive development roadmap and the up to 100 devices for free model is amazing - incredibly useful for small businesses and/or trialling the system.
Very fair pricing and simple to set up. The real-time updates in the GUI are impressive and there looks to be some rapid and useful development underway.
AWESOME support and very quick to help. The cost is amazing!!! The tool is easy to deploy and very easy to maintain.
Cons
The Remote Desktop feature is missing the option for file transfers and chat but both are on the roadmap for future updates. The agent is currently only available for Windows.
No native Chat Client to communicate with the user.
I think some of the information can be hard to find, or you have to drill down. For example finding if a machine has low disk space.
I also was limited to one login for an administrator at first but that was opened up recently to more than one.

"I cannot believe this is free!"
Overall: Simply Superb!
Pros: Besides the fact that the features I use is free, the easy deployment and setup is simply mind boggling, to be free. Usually free things are not very user friendly, but boy am I wrong with Action1. Simply superb!
Cons: None that I can find to mention here, especially after I'm getting it for free...
"10/10 recommend. "
Overall: Wonderful. Their customer service is friendly and knowledgeable. The admin site is set up to be easy to use.
Pros: The automation of services. Find and adding end points and scheduling software updates helps keep vulnerabilities in our company to a minimum.
Cons: Once you have approved updates, I am unsure how to reverse them. It might be possible, but I haven't taken the time to figure it out.
"Simple the best"
Overall: It's the best tool I already used for inventory and patch management purposes.
Pros: The Vulnerabilities assessment, and the patch management - both works super well. The deploy via Active Directory deployer is also great!
Cons: I believe the inventory could bring some extra information, and I have some trouble to understand local users inventory.
"A centralised IT management platform with automated maintenance functionality"
Overall: Easy to use .Supports quicker maintainence of remote system compared to traditional methods while using action1 rmm
Pros: Easy to use for endpoint management Supports schedule based automated maintenance of servers and connected workstation Very effective in remote desktop and unattended access.
Cons: Ui looks a bit outdated and requires a ramp up Connection is found to break at times reducing overall reliability

"A fantastic entry into the RMM environment"
Overall: The business model for Action1 is fantastic, the 100 free endpoints forever was a fantastic hook to get us to give the product a go and from there we have been using it daily for years. When our company outgrew the 100 endpoint limit, it was a no brainer to sign up to for a paid plan and the pricing is extremely competitive. We trialed other products, most of which were very expensive, usually because they include PSA or other "addons" which we just do not need as a business.
Pros: The deployment agent was incredibly easy to install and within minutes all of our online endpoints had been onboarded onto the platform. The remote control tool, while basic is by far the most reliable tool i have used on an RMM platform and have never had issues connecting to and endpoint. The inbuilt reports are fantastic and the ability to create a custom report from basically any dataset that is captured by Action1 has been brilliant. For us the best part has been the ability to upload our custom enterprise application installers and provide the correct flags, switches and post install scripts to run automatically on endpoints, it took setting up a new work station from a multi-hour job, to a few clicks.
Cons: The user interface is a little but clunky in places and there are a few QOL features that could be improved upon, such as ability to customise the visible columns on the Endpoint overview, or easily view which endpoints are currently not allocated to a group. Though most of the issues i have are minor and some are in progress to be deployed in their roadmap.
"Best patch Management for Windows that can be had!"
Overall: We’re very pleased to be working with A1 and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I’ve used many other products for patch and vulnerability management, and they’re all inferior to this one.
Pros: The ease of setup is unsurpassed and we always feel like the product works as expected. Very pleased after 2+ years.
Cons: They almost sold to another vendor and we knew that would change the quality and ethos of the product. Thankfully that did not happen. No Linux or macOS support.
"Excellent tool for patching, deploying and managament"
Overall: Great service, excellent documentation. In just few hours You can use it with confidence. Also very important thing - the stuff is active on-line: newsletters, e-mails, reddit. You can feel that it isn't just another company but they have some mission and clear goals to achieve.
Pros: This is the most useful tool I'm using in my work. Small government so budget is tight but the first 100 endpoints is free. Also GDPR compliance! I love it! Read the excellent manual and in few days I've a automated patching for endpoints for vendors which I accept. I deploy custom apps for endpoints, run powershell commands. Use it daily now as my main dashboard to see what's with endpoints in my organization. I can't praise enough the easy of deployment in the organization and great documentation and FAQ.
Cons: In my short time with the tool I didn't find any cons, maybe one thing - would love to see more scripts in the library. The one I found are extremely useful.
"Management tools for your business with Action1!"
Overall: Absolutely Wonderful. Staff and support has been very helpful.
Pros: Ease of Use, Ease of Deployment, Great for any size business
Cons: A couple of glitches in reports that include cached data, and trying to clear that up with scripts.
"Action1 is number 1 for patching :)"
Overall: Smooth sailing, no issues at all. It has never missed a beat.
Pros: Does an excellent job of automating all Windows patches as well as apps like Browsers, pdf programs etc. I've never had 1 issue with failed updates in over 2 years. The free 100 user accounts are a fantastic way to evaluate the system, start small and see how it goes!
Cons: It would be nice to have an OSX version, but on its way apparently. But no big deal as we are a 99% windows shop.
"Action1 - big win for small business"
Overall: Overall my experience with Action1 has been nothing but positive. It is easy to learn and implement. A must have for small business or non-profits
Pros: I have been researching Action1 for some time and have finally had the opportunity to implement them in several environments. Having the ability to easily manage separate entities has been an awesome experience.
Cons: I wish Action1 had more remote management tools. Remote command line is top of that list.
"Action 1 Simple Efficient and Easy to use"
Overall: Faster more efficient means of accessing clients machines for support.
Pros: It is very simple to setup and deploy. The remote connections are hassle free and need no client interaction which is more efficient whilst still remaining secure. The patching is easy to control and gives the ability to ensure all clients are fully patched. We can even choose when and how they are deployed.
Cons: Monitoring could be better with easier access to the logs. This way you can see things like bad blocks or memory errors.
"Great solution"
Overall: Action1 is great. I love that they have a discord channel where you can talk with other users. I've received some great support from them, and from time to time the founders of the company even talk to us is the channel.
Pros: I love the fact that Action1 has many features straight out of the box. They market themselves as a Patch Management solution, but they do some great features such as software installation, Vulnerability scanning, and remote access as well.
Cons: The time from when you tell the system to perform a task, to when it actually does is a bit slow. Nothing too drastic though. we are talking around 30 seconds.
"Great Service to MSP"
Pros: As a sideline MSP, it is great that there are 100 free endpoints to get me going until I can expand my business. It allows me to use high-level tools without the startup cost and expand from there.
Cons: Not really a con, but the remote desktop does need some additional features. It is great for basic remote options but other services definitely offer more.
"The best fit for our needs!"
Overall: I have had nothing but great support from Action1, and the product has helped me with all my remote access needs. As well as windows updates and patch management. For any SMB that is struggling to find an RMM. I would give A1 a serious look.
Pros: Pricing is great for a SMB, with the free version for 100 endpoints, it fit well for us.
Cons: Remote desktop could use a few more features.
"Exceptional Web-based patch management"
Overall: My experience with Action1 has been exceptional. I have even seen a Action1 rep on reddit give super good advice without trying to push their product. Very commendable.
Pros: I like that this is web-based, and I can access it from anywhere. I don't have to log into a VPN to connect to our local network just to update/make changes.
Cons: In order for me to run custom scripts, I have to use an email address from the company I'm monitoring. This is not a major deal though. I could potentially change/create an email address to use with my client, but I don't have a need to run custom scripts (as of yet).
"Brigantia review"
Overall: Its the ability to make sure that all our PCs are patched and up to date, and to manage the software on them. This is particularly when our staff are no longer in the office all the time and are working from home.
Pros: I have found that the deployment of apps is particularly effective. It's great to be able to roll out software to our PCs here within minutes no matter where people are based. I have found that the updates work really well as well.
Cons: I think some of the information can be hard to find, or you have to drill down. For example finding if a machine has low disk space. Also would like the ability to be alerted if a machine goes offline. The remote access seems a bit limited, for instance with no ability to transfer files.
Vendor Response
"Action1 Awesome!"
Overall: Love the product. It just works. Have been able to deploy software and updates easily.
Pros: The price (Free for up to 100 users). Patch management, vulnerability management.
Cons: Pet peeve. They moved the remote desktop icon from the main bar to the side. I got used to it, but loved it on the main screen previously.
"Action1 in Secondary Schools"
Pros: Ease of use/deployment - quick, efficient and reliable updating of patches for windows and 3rd party products. Great vulnerability assessments that I can feed back to SLT. Time saved per week is brilliant, and the product will cover its own costs in about 100 hours of time (i.e. not much at all)
Cons: Genuinely struggle to think of any downsides. I had to wait all of 2 hours to be approved to run scripts through Action1 - which is a very good security aspect, and the most I can stretch to think of something I don't like. I think it's a brilliant product.
"Invaluable product for those looking at 3rd Party Application and Vulnerability assessment and remediation!"
Overall: I've found the product invaluable on a day to day basis. The support is very good and the roadmap of new features leaves me very optimistic about the future of Action1.
Pros: The ability to see software installed across the estate, the vulnerabilities found in that software and present on the endpoints. Action1 can then remediate those found vulnerabilities by updating software to newer versions. The dashboard gives a very easy overview of the issues currently at play and where they sit against the SLA's set.
Cons: It would be useful for "executive level" reporting that allows you to see the resolved vulnerabilities over a set time period.
"A Platform that works great and a compony that cares."
Overall: I can't say enough good things about Action1. I leave two things here: 1.) 100 Free endpoints forever - no card required. This is great for smaller internal IT departments. They won't even let you make a donation towards the development. They are great people with a heart for service. 2.) They listen to their customer (whether they are paying or not). The roadmap is wonderful and allows customers to upvote feature requests and comment on what they would like to see.
Pros: - Roadmap: Action1 provides a public roadmap and allows users to upvote feature requests. The best part is... they listen to their users and are constantly involving. - Software Deployment: Action1 makes software deployment quick and easy. They have a Software repository with dozens of programs that are always up to date. You can also easily add your own software with all the parameters and scripting needed! - Easy Turn up: You can deploy endpoints quickly! - User interface - Automate deployment and patching - Reports: Built-in and custom - Scripting: Built-in and custom
Cons: - Need CLI Interface - On the roadmap - Need better remote desktop option - On the roadmap
"Brilliant Product which saves me many hours!"
Overall: I am delighted with Action 1, this product this has made my daily work life so much easier. Having a fully functioning free option (for 50 PCs) makes it a no-brainer for me.
Pros: As an IT manager for a SME company with a limited IT budget, I am always looking for products that really make my life easier. I don't have a large team or the hours required to configure and train on complex implementations. As my company has grown I found that more and more of my time was being spent on deploying software and patching a growing number of PCs and so I needed a comprehensive product to manage this vital process for me. Enter Action 1, a product which offers easy implementation and a quick learning curve with an unlimited duration trial . I was instantly intrigued and wondered if it would really be any good. I installed the client and after a brief remote session with Action1's excellent support team to clarify some settings, was up and running on a handful of PCs. The rest is history, I now use this excellent product constantly right across the business to deploy and update my applications to new builds/images and have it set to auto run overnight, twice a week for MS updates.
Cons: For companies like mine using MS Azure Active directory, there are a couple of small workarounds required to run the service on the master machine. However these are quick to implement and not really an issue.

"Action1 is the patch control, endpoint management platform you've been looking for"
Pros: The Action1 remote management is beyond anything else we've tried for speed, reliability, and management. We've been able to run custom scripts without trouble, patch without headache and remote access without worry. They literally will give you 100 FREE endpoints because they know it's good enough you'll upgrade to your entire environment (happily guilty here.) Do it. Deploy Action1.
Cons: Their feature updates aren't as fast as we might want, but developing something this good takes time.
"Game Changer for our Non-Profit Organization"
Overall: Game changer, has saved me easily hundreds of hours for our organization.
Pros: The option of free workstations under 100 instances was what originally make me take a deeper dive into Action1, but the ease of deployment, remote support, and patch management were exactly what I needed for our organization. With Action1 I was able to bring 80+ desktops with all various OSes, software and hardware configurations and installed patches up to industry standard in almost no time. No more tech debt!
Cons: I would like the ability to approve EULA changes on some software patches, as of now if you try to push out a multiple workstation patch and 1 piece of software requires an EULA the update will not proceed. You have to take 1 workstation, patch it on it's own, accept the agreement. Then running the batch job again will accept the EULA and proceed like normal.
"Wonderful remote control system"
Overall: To be able to drive the company's PC without anybody is there, is the best
Pros: The product is free of charge, easy to use, very helpful for IT management
Cons: The only thing is missing is the file transfer between the PC during remote control
"The best tool for patch management"
Overall: Extremely ease to manage patches, missing updates and vulnerabilities. Greater visibility of notebooks outside the company without VPN connected The best tool I've had used.
Pros: Best tool I've ever used for patch management and remote installation. Fast and light agent, with ease installation. Wonderful web management interface, quick communication with the machine and now with a list of known vulnerabilities.
Cons: When trying to delete a user profile with Action1 installed, the function is disabled while the Action1 service is active. The speed of remote access can also improve, as there is a delay.
