### "Classroom management from Anywhere"

I love this product and it has made a lot of things easier in teaching, especially with students having more and more access to technology.

Pros

I love being able to see what all my students are working on/doing both in my class and at home. This made virtual learning so much easier this past school year! I love being able to message my students to check in when I know they may not feel like asking a question. It eliminates some pressure. Also, It is great to be able to take screenshots right in the program to document when students do great or are off task. The new annotation and student group features are fantastic additions as well! I also love being able to schedule classes and automatically start a "scene" that blocks anything I do not want students on during our class session. It helps to prevent students from being off task on their device when you can't observe every screen.

Cons

The only cons I have are: 1. There is a minor delay on what the students are doing and what I see. 2. I cannot see where their mouse if if they are trying to point to something and ask if that is what I am referring to. 3. If they have the chat window open, I cannot see their work page at the same time. 4. It would be nice to be able to turn scenes off for individual students, as a sort of incentive, without totally excluding them from the session and being unable to see anything they are on.

### "Go Guardian is a Game Changer!"

Before GoGuardian, our monitoring system was standing in the back of the room and watching over the students' shoulders. One of my colleagues even went so far as to install angled mirrors to see student activity on the devices. It was very low-tech and not very effective.GoGuardian is a game changer. I now have a complete and efficient system that enables me to effectively monitor and support student progress.

Pros

I really like how easy GoGuardian is to use. I just sign on with my google account, choose my classes, and then I am able to monitor student activity and progress. I also like the way that I can see various types of data pertaining to student activity...from actual websites visited, time browsing and actual time on task. I can also see a timeline of the student activity and I have a record of the timeline.

Cons

I would really like to have a button or quick switch to lock all devices. Maybe it is there already, but I haven't figured it out. I would also like a little more detail when viewing student timelines.

### "GoGuardian is Great!"

Pros

I like the ability to check students when they are working online. I especially like to monitor students when they are typing essays. I can read it quickly and send a chat message with feedback. I also like the chat feature because I am able to discreetly communicate with students about their work or lack thereof. I also like the reports that generate when the session ends. I like that I can see what websites students visited while on the computer.

Cons

One thing I do not like about GoGuardian is that it lets students know when I turn it on. Of course, when they know that I am looking they change the page so I cannot see what they were doing. I would like to see who is consistently following the rules without giving notice that I am checking. Also, I don't like that workarounds exist so that students can do things which will not show up on the GoGuardian screen. They are able to display a different screen or appear offline when they are not. This needs to be fixed.

### "The Modern Panopticon"

My school has only had this software for a few months but what a difference it has made; fixing a problem I suspected was there but had no idea the severity of. Even from a different classroom, I can keep on eye on my students’ online use to ensure they are using the internet safety and correctly.

Pros

This software is a game-changer. In today’s digital age and with how easy it is to find and do anything on the internet, GoGuardian is the Batman of the classroom: the silent sentinel who keeps watch over what the students click. Every day my students use their chromes for all sorts of reasons: research, typing a response for an assigned reading, taking AR quizzes, taking online tests, and more. In the past, I would catch glimpses of a student being on the wrong webpage or even cheating by looking up the meaning of the words they were being tested on. GoGuardian as stopped (or at least massively decreased) all of that distracting web surfing and cheating. I can easily click on a student’s name and see what webpage they’re on as well as their computer’s history to see if they had visited any site(s) they shouldn’t have. I can easily monitor the progress a student is making on their assigned writing without alerting them so they can’t just click out and claim innocence. With every student cautious and worried about being caught, this modern panopticon has prevented a lot of inappropriate content from reaching my elementary school students.

Cons

Thus far, there has been no noteworthy negativity. The software works well. It would be nice to view more than one student at a time but that’s more a wish than a con.

### "It's about Safety, not an Invasion of Privacy"

My experiences with GoGuardian have been positive from day 1 and students now know better than to access things that aren't allowed. Overall classroom safety has been improved and students stay focused on the tasks at hand.

Pros

Before using GoGuardian, it was nearly impossible to monitor what students were accessing on their computers. Even if I continuously walked around the room monitoring, by the time I reached their desks they'd simply close the tab, or close the computer. Making accusations when I suspect misbehavior isn't an option. If I can simply look at my computer monitor and quickly give students a warning, the situation is easily resolved. It's a game-changer.

Cons

At this point there's nothing I dislike about GoGuardian.

### "Great Classroom Monitoring Tool"

Over the past 4 years our district has been phasing out its Windows PCs and have gone with Chromebooks for classroom use. To date we have over 10,500 Chromebooks throughout the district with more than 9000 of those used daily. Being able to monitor them within a classroom setting has become critical. GoGuardian provided us with the tools necessary to make the PC to Chromebook switch successful.

Pros

It is an easy to use intuitive tool that provides a lot of classroom functionality necessary to keep kids focused in a digital world. Our teaching staff that use this product have nothing but good things to say about it. They enjoy being able to lock screens, view what students are watching, and look through history as needed to verify what a child had been doing during class time.

Cons

The only con for us so far has been the price. We looked at around 6 products prior to going with GoGuardian, and it was on the higher end.

Reason for choosing GoGuardian

It had all the functions we needed and more.

### "Guarding Student Computers"

Overall, my experience with GoGuardian has been fantastic. I can monitor my students without bothering them via looking over their shoulder. I can also be more informed as to what they are doing, how much time they spent on websites, and GoGuardian tells me what sites they visited. GoGuardian is a great classroom resource.

Pros

The best thing about GoGuardian is just how effective it is. With other computer-monitoring programs, students had to sign into it and, usually, they had easy ways of tricking the system. GoGuardian allows me to monitor, mentor, and alter student direction on their individual computers from the ease of my chair.

Cons

Overall, there is very little that I didn't find useful about GoGuardian. As a teacher, the price was right for me (free for teachers; I am not entirely sure if my school corporation pays for it). It is also easy to use; everything is clearly marked and the rosters are already in the system.

Overall, the product has been good. I'm not the district decision maker for purchases, so my input, even when asked, was never taken into consideration. I thought another product may have serviced our needs better.

Pros

I like the ability to set up scenes that attempt to control the webpages that students have access to in the classroom. I also like the ability to screenshot what pages the students are engaged in if they are off-task.

Cons

I dislike the fact that there are too many work-arounds to where students can by-pass the GoGuardian protections. There are numerous videos on YouTube that show how to get around their software. I'm also not a fan of the "chat" feature in GoGuardian. Only being able to have canned responses is not effective when trying to communicate with a student subtly, in my opinion.

GoGuardian is used in my classroom daily. It is a great way to check at a glance to see if all my students are on the task they are to be on, and allows me to quickly talk with students to get them back on task without having to call attention to them in front of the whole class.

Pros

GoGuardian was a great resource to have during remote learning. It let teachers see exactly where the students were working at during a specific time, and allowed for a quick message to students to walk them through what was happening in their assignments.

Cons

Other than occasional updates/technological issues that happens throughout the year, as is to be expected with any technological tool, I am very happy with GoGuardian and using it in the classroom.

### "A Must for One-to-One Schools"

I cannot imagine how I would be an effective teacher without this (ever since we went one-to-one). In addition, their customer support has always been friendly and helpful.

Pros

It is always running, both at home and at school. It automatically sends alerts about any potentially harmful internet use. It allows teachers to help kids stay focused in class. It provides another way for teachers to show parents what their child is doing during class time.

Cons

I wish individual students could be put into different "scenes" at the same time, but that is just me wishing for an additional feature.

Not only does the GoGuardian team respond to my emails and requests, but they are happy to reach out for feedback and ideas for improvement. I love that the company interacts with their customers to help build a better product and experience.

Pros

GoGuardian's teacher end content managment is easy to set up and use. Class rostering is amazing simple with Google Classroom sync. I love the new video chat feature on GoGuardian Suite

GoGuardian has been a great program for our entire high school staff. Is allows us to limit screen time on sites we don't approve of, and keeps students aware and honest with the work they are doing.

Pros

GoGuardian makes it easy to assess in-class work. As a teacher I can filter what websites students have access to during my class period which ensures the work they submit is genuine.

Cons

The screens are not always updated frequently enough to get a "quick view" of what an entire class is doing. But, this is ameliorated when individual pages are opened.

GoGuardian has been very useful for not only remote learning but in person classroom management. It easily allow you to block websites from students and keep them on task. As a one-to-one device school this feature is very helpful.

Pros

I like that I can see all the students screens in my "classroom" at the same time. The chat feature is very useful during virtual learning so students can ask a question without speaking to the whole class. The announcement feature is amazing for student engagement and determining if a student is at their computer screen (student needs to click to get back to their work).

Cons

I wish that a noise was made if a student sends a chat. Teaching remote students and in person students at the same time means that I rely on noises to come back to my student if someone needs help. I also think an automatic notification that can be set up in the settings to go to students who are off task/idle.

GoGuardian has helped myself and colleagues during remote learning. We have been able to assist students if they are stuck during instruction. We are able to guide the students to get to the correct website or app on their Chromebook. It has also been really helpful with class management during online learning because we can restrict access to website that the students don't need to using during instruction.

Pros

It has allowed me to be able to help my students during remote learning. After completing the training, it was pretty easy to use the software in the classroom and during remote instruction. I was most excited about being able to put website restrictions on the student's Chromebooks. It was helpful because the students can get easily distracted with Youtube, Netflix and other websites instead of focusing on their schoolwork. I liked that I could restrict websites during school hours and allow access for the evening.

Cons

The training was a little long. It also would have been helpful to have an interactive training. This may be a district training decision to have only online training. I felt that I would have understood more if I was able to set up GoGuardian and use it during the training sessions.

### "Great solution for what we need"

After searching and testing multiple other products, we implemented GoGuardian a few years back across our district, using the Admin and Teacher portals. The main purpose was to implement web filtering that we could control for devices going home, trying to keep students safe on the web in school and at home. We have been impressed with the system's features and functionality. If we have questions or issues, their support team is ready to assist with Fast response times. They provide easy to access training materials.

Pros

Over the years of use, many new features/upgrades have been release, at no additional cost to us. The support is great!

Cons

The price was pretty steep, until we negotiated lower pricing through our vendor. There are still some granular Admin permissions that are not yet available. But, I have been part of multiple brief one-on-one discussions or panels with GoGuardian reps, regarding adding these features and more.

### "Excellent web content filter for any environment"

Being a private school, our parents love that we have a system in place that continues to filter off campus. The ability to create a dual policy that switches to a slightly relaxed mode off campus allows parents to feel secure and students some extra freedom when away from school.

Pros

We had used a competitors product for several years prior to switching to this one. I have found GoGuardian to have a much better track record with accurately filtering category based items. The interface, especially the 2.0, is much improved and allows you to quickly find what you're looking for. They are constantly adding and improving.

Cons

I have not found anything I dislike. There are small interface tweaks I would like to see, but these are trivial items. They do have a feature request board, and they do seem to implement the top requested items.

Pros

We love the ease of finding and displaying data and monitoring student engagement. Web filtering and teacher management make this invaluable to us!

Pros

Several features come to mind when considering the positive aspects of this product. GoGuardian serves to keep students on task by allowing a teacher or administrator the ability to control web access for a specific class or group. The software also allows the teacher to see in real time what all the students are seeing on their screens and to receive useful reports on student activity.

Cons

It is not as intuitive and easy to learn as I would have liked and at times there are conflicts between the different administrators using the system at the same time.

Overall, the software works well for what it's worth, it has flaws but isn't bad at it's job to any extent, just generally lower quality from a interface standpoint.

Pros

It works well for day to day usage and gradually improves usability throughout the years. The alerts system is fairly decent at seeing issues and reporting them to the administration in the district. Customer service is very helpful and friendly.

Cons

Several components of the software do not work or otherwise have low functionality. The product was poorly transitioned over from an old interface to a the new, more user friendly one. This causes users to have to jump between old and new to manage the software which is a bit of an inconvenience.

Overall, I like it. It helps me save time as a teacher. It allows me to track, and record what my students are doing anytime, anywhere!

Pros

I like that it's easy to see exactly what everyone is doing from an admin end. I like that I can login from anywhere to the admin console to sniff out trouble. From the teacher end, I like the scenes that allow me to guide my classes, whether they are in person or remote!

Cons

It's hard to find some of the settings, and sometimes it is hard to figure out how to track a student's activity. But once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy!

Cons

Pros

As a technology teacher, this product is a must! It allows me to monitor students’ computers in real-time. I can block undesirable websites, and I can direct students to a specific website in a heartbeat.

Cons

I see no downsides to this product. It is easy to use and is extremely helpful. I cannot live without it!
