Pros I'm a high school teacher and I use this software to monitor my students' computer access. Go guardian helps me to make sure my students are using the internet responsibly. My stress level due to having to teach at home has not been too high since I can use GoGuarding to help my students as needed. Pros I recently began using GoGuardian and love it. When I was in my classroom I mostly used it to monitor that my students are on the proper website. Now that I am teaching from home, it is the main way I communicate with my students. I am able to chat with my students, see their computer screen, and help them as needed. Cons The main thing that I don't like is when I am chatting with my students, they have to close their chat so I can see their computer screen and help them as needed. Pros I love the fact that I can quietly get students back on track without disturbing the entire class. That I can close windows when they are off their assigned task. Pros GoGuardian allows seamless instruction and monitoring of students in a virtual space. The ease of transition between students and the useful reports when not in session allows for accountability while keeping our social distancing in order to stay healthy at home. The software has allowed me to get in contact with students who were "ghosting." It was easy to find them online and set up a chat! GoGuardian has helped to get and keep students on track during this COVID19 Pandemic. Cons The feature I would like to see added is a record feature. Review Source RS Richard S. IT Director Education Management Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Overwhelmingly Positive Reception" June 24, 2019 5.0 I have resolved issues with cheating, I have also forced students to do the work they are assigned and that helps with making programs like summer school less desirable because they are harder. Summer School becomes a last resort instead of a choice and I am hoping that there are less enrollees in the future as a result. Pros I can use this to passively make students do the work they are assigned instead of cheating and that is so powerful. The filtering works really well and I know nothing is impregnable, so far students have had no luck with getting around the filtering. Cons Manual sync of the GAC could be better. GG works, the other solution we tried pretty much just...didn't. GG is easy for the teacher to use and provides our parents with peace of mind, knowing that their kids are protected even when at home. Pros GoGuardian works well for our Chromebooks that go home with our students. It provides Web content filtering on and off campus, and provides classroom management for our teachers. The classroom management function has been invaluable during COVID. Cons GoGuardian is expensive and setup takes a bit to get it right, but most software that does what GG does has it's share of complexity. Review Source BM Blair M. April 30, 2019 5.0 Pros First off, I am a third grade teacher with a cart of chrome books for my classroom. I have been using goguardian to help filter out sites and keep students on task when using chromebooks. I have noticed that more students have been completing their assignments within a timely manner. Less of my students are off task. I have also been able to close things they are not allowed to be on. Cons I do not like that some of my chromes have some bloatware or adware preventing me from monitoring those screens. We are getting with our tech department to solve this. They allow me to control my virtual students in one quick click rather than going one by one. Individual Messages. In the Google Meet chat students may be afraid to ask questions in front of their classmates. This allows students to ask a question just for the teacher to see. Announcements. This allows me to push out a message that blocks a students screen. If they have left the class it proves they are not at their computers. It also allows me to ask everyone the same question. Cons Scences does take some practice and play to get it right. It also allows teachers to make sure students are staying on task while using their Chromebooks. Pros Our school implemented GoGuardian this year. It has made it very easy to monitor our students Chromebooks. Students who do not follow protocol can easily be put into Chromebook jail. Cons This software should allow the other teachers to see who is currently monitoring students. That way other teachers can easily see and identify who is placing requirements on a student. The students have started to stay on task in the classroom. The better I have gotten at the program, the less I find my students off task on their Chromebooks. Pros This software helps keep my students on task in the classroom. It is easy to set up and start using it. Cons I had some trouble setting up what my students can do in the"scenes" that control the classroom. I think the biggest success for me is how many students are trying their hardest to get around it. Cons Not all of the features are available to Windows yet.
