August 10, 2025 4.0 Overall, I feel Fotor is BOTH better suited for VIDEO Creation (not as much for Images) AND for more experienced graphic artists (definitely not as easy to "master" as most other similar apps I've tried and many I still use)... BUT I feel the time experimenting and learning how to use their unique prompt system IS WORTH IT! Out of all the AI Image/Video apps I've tried and/or have used, FOTOR'S COMMUNITY of Creators (and the INTERACTIVE Features to support one another's Creations) is the BEST I've experienced thus far! I cannot yet share my experiences with VIDEO creations, BUT I see absolutely amazing Video Creations all over Fotor! For IMAGE Creations, I am finding Fotor's unique prompt system to be a bit frustrating (as a "newbie", to be fair!), BUT I think these frustrations will subside once I have more experience with this app! MY ADVICE? I think it IS worth a try! If you are newer to AI Image/Video Generation, just be prepared to have more patience while learning the unique systems of the main features, which, as I've been reading Fotor's personal "Prompt Guide", it seems these "extra steps" (these prompts take more detail, time, steps, and other factors than others), once "mastered", will actually become extremely USEFUL (as witnessed from longer-term Users' Creations, too!)... and will be more time-consuming YET will give the Creator much more control over HOW they bring their vision to life! IF you're just looking for short prompts and quick/easy results? I would NOT suggest Fotor! BUT, if you are looking for more detailed (since more time-consuming, quality OVER quantity!) control over prompts, growing your knowledge and skill of using AI Image and Video features and tools, and interested in being a part of an amazing Community of fellow artists? I DO SUGGEST TRYING FOTOR.. and to ask for help from an eager Community along with the helpful articles, videos, and "How To"s that Fotor provides IF you feel any frustration with the "learning curve", DON'T GIVE UP too quickly! (Personally, I have gone from "how did THIS result come from THAT?!" to "Getting SO CLOSE... Open that handy Quick Tips page, rearrange my prompt a bit, and.. ALMOST!" in only 3 weeks! I feel I will soon get my "PERFECTLY, EXACTLY what I envisioned!" in just another month or two!) IN SHORT, DEFINITELY WORTH A TRY IF YOU TRULY LOVE CREATING AI IMAGE/VIDEO ART! Pros First, I absolutely love the COMMUNITY! (This reason was the deciding factor that earned my 4-star rating, as otherwise it would have been a 3, or 3.5 if possible!) I'm still newer to this app, but I can already clearly see how supportive, helpful (many happy to provide tips, tricks, and advice!), encouraging, inspiring.. and generously KIND all around! Second, I find it extremely helpful and generous (especially while on a VERY tight budget!) that Fotor gives easy ways to earn free credits DAILY, and so it IS possible to use this app completely freely (THOUGH I'd love to fully subscribe as soon as my funds allow)! These daily free credits (earned by quick, simple tasks) have allowed me to jump right in and get started, and I'm so grateful! Third, the "AI Challenges" are extremely FUN! They have encouraged me to try new types and styles of images, have provided inspiration to "think outside the box", and are perfect during times of "artist's block", when we may feel "stuck" on what ideas/concepts to try NEXT! These challenges gives opportunities to step outside EACH of our go-to concepts, themes, styles, elements, and etc! (And the lucky handful of winners for each get wonderful rewards, too!) Cons I chose a rating of 4 stars, rather than 3, as the PROS outweighed the CONS, but I definitely feel this app is BEST FOR VIDEO CREATION (in which I do not feel ready to learn quite yet... and the credits needed would take time to save up without a real subscription), while it has definitely caused me some frustration in generating IMAGES. (Since I haven't yet had the chance or funds to try the Video Generation Features yet, I can only speak of IMAGE GENERATION!) First, I feel there are a lot less features for IMAGE generations. Second, it seems Fotor has it's own special ways to create prompts, which takes some time to learn. (So, it seems more difficult to use than many other Text-To-Image apps, BUT, for someone who has had more time to experiment with Fotor, this "con" may actually turn into a "pro"?! I guess I shall see...! Third, I've found myself frustrated with creating prompts to generate anything close to what I envision. (I will use the EXACT SAME PROMPT with a few other Text-To-Image apps, and most of the other apps will generate images MUCH closer to what I was hoping for, and one in particular will EXCEED what I had hoped for, capturing my vision FURTHER than my expectations! BUT, with Fotor, I find myself stuck on the same idea for days at a time, trying to change my prompt to slowly inch closer and closer to what I'm hoping for.. and, many times, eventually "settling" for one I feel is "halfway there", feeling the need to "settle", give up, and move on to my next idea. (I'm hoping, once I've better learned how to work Fotor's unique format for Text-To-Image prompts, to go BACK to former ideas.. though IF it was for a challenge... AGAIN, Fotor's unique and highly detailed prompt format may actually become a PRO for those who have more experience and/or have mastered Fotor's system! IN SUMMARY, I feel this IS a better app for VIDEO creations.. AND for Creators with a lot more experience! ALSO, I've seen some AMAZING Image AND (especially) Video Generations, so I feel my personal "cons" will slowly disappear as I continue to learn! (Still looking for that lip-sync option though). Pros The transparent background removal is quick and easy. The logo removal from videos saves time and money. I also really love the face swap. As a video and game creator many times my characters faces may change completely and it saves the hassle of re-creating images that have already been done. Cons Sometimes finding the procedure I want to use in creating videos such as the lip sync--which I just discovered it would do--takes a while to find. Would like to have more credits available since EVERYTHING costs credits on here. What am I paying for if I have to EARN enough credits to generate a video and have to log-in every day for those tiny amounts of credits to use the program. Big thumbs down on that. I tried the free version first and decided to test the paid subscription, but the paid features did not provide the value I expected. After realizing this, I cancelled the subscription almost immediately. Despite this, the company refused to issue a refund. The platform may work for very basic editing, but the pricing and subscription policy feel unfair and not consumer-friendly. I would strongly recommend that users read the terms very carefully before subscribing. Pros The interface is simple and easy to understand for basic editing and your can use with different options. Cons The paid version does not deliver the value it promises. Many features feel limited or similar to the free version. The editing tools themselves were not as advertised. Even at "Pro" it required additional payments. It's too expensive for the quality and services this offers. Pros Nothing. Their advertisement is great - it shows everything without disclosing all the additional hidden costs. Cons Quality is disappointing. I attempted to enlarge some images and when printed, the quality was disappointing. Shutterfly ended up fixing it. Their billing is also confusing; merchant name didn't even match. I signed up for a "7-day free trial" but was billed on the sixth day for a year for a much higher price than that on their website. Lastly, their customer service is impersonal. I was offered a half refund, which shows me whoever is running their billing is aware there are issues.
