We have been using since 2009. Pros Good support - reasonable pricing - for a organization like ours who only puts out a bulk mailing only once a month most other products are cost prohibitive - they cost more to use than bulk mail saves us. Cons I wish the membership/mail merge functionality and the Postage Saver functionality were integrated - right now I have to export a spreadsheet from my membership database (MemberTies) into Postage Saver and then take the output spreadsheet into Word to do a mail merge of the address page of our newsletter. What I do work well but lots of opportunities to mess up a step. Reason for choosing Postage $aver Only product that we could reasonably afford - this was in 2009 so I'm sure there's probably other products on the market since then. Let me know what membership database you are using. If they are storing in a standard format, Postage Saver Pro might be able to read it directly. Of course, if it is a proprietary format, we can't access it. There really have been no new products offered that specifically target small to medium volume mailers, like Postage Saver does. With mail volume dropping, and mailing requirements ever-changing, writing fresh code for a new product isn't really worth it. April 12, 2023 5.0 Pros What I most appreciate about Postage Saver is that it saves not only money but time. It provides clear instructions and is set up in a way that makes it easy to fill out. Simply uploading a CSV file makes the brain work of mailings easy. When I have a large mailing, this software literally creates lists that tell me how many pieces need to be in a tray/sack, and even tells me which zip codes need to be in that tray/sack. Overall, it provides helpfu structure to keep such tasks manageable. Cons While most of my mailings were without flaws, I would say that Postage Saver could be improved by being more up-to-date with the USPS postal regulations. For example, Postage Saver does an excellent job of sorting and organizing each piece of mail into the correct discount area. However, when I went online to the USPS Business Gateway to file the mailing, they didn't accept the discounted rate because they had increased the minimum number of pieces that would qualify the mailing for that discount. Now, I don't use Postage Saver as much because I don't get that discount anymore. There is actually a bug in the USPS tool that gives you a warning if you try to take a discount on "origin" trays, but it will let you take the discount if you ignore the warning. Pros I have used Postage Saver for many years. It allows me to prepare reports for the USPS in a fast, efficient manner. It is easy to use and they have advised us when upcoming changes such as this year's move to flat trays so we were prepared to handle it. My local post office wasn't even aware of the change. Thanks for a great product! Cons My in-county labels don't print in the correct order that my local post office wants so we have to use our backup system for those. I also wish the labels could be printed on continuous feed labels - that is an easy way to prepare them for placement. December 1, 2021 5.0 I have tried four (4) other software and online services. PostageSaver is the easiest to use. Also, I found it has three to five times more features than other software and services out there. Obviously, it does not handle data cleansing; and I am glad, since we use other tools for that. Pros It's unbelievably easy to use. It guides you step-by-step through this complicated and nightmarish process that the USPS has created for mailing houses. Cons I can't find a single bad thing to say. However, if we want to be picky, the font size look a little small on my 32 inch monitor. It seems that they need to upgrade the font to be more responsive to the screen size being used. Postage Saver truly makes your job simpler and takes the guess work out when dealing with the USPS paperwork. Pros Whether you are using bar codes or not, the program is easy to use. Enter your information, locate the address list in question, then press 'start'. I use the program two to three times per week, you will not find a better product at this price point. Support has been great for couple of times I needed help, responsive and went out of their way to share how to fix spreadsheet issues. Cons Minor issue at best and more an issue with Mac OS, i have to separately print the Postage Statement, Qualification and Mail Prep sheets individually. Really a minor issue, takes an additional minute to go through and print each report separately. If you are preparing non-bundled mail, like letter-sized, the OELs serve no purpose and are not required, so we don't print them. If you are preparing flats, you should be able to print the OEL. Pros I rely on this product for bulk mailing my quarterly publication. Years ago I had a more expensive software and was in a panic when they stopped producing it for the Mac (the only computer I have ever used). This product is easy to learn and use. The postmaster always praises me for doing such a good job with my mailing reports. Cons A few years ago I bought a small Mac with the latest operating system especially for internet use and Postage $aver. I had always dreaded updating to the latest system for fear something would go wrong. But a few months ago Postage $aver stopped updating their software for that older system. So I had to install the latest Mac OS. But my fears were eased when it went without a hitch and I was able to use the updated Postage $aver version. It's a time saving, cost efficient must have for all those in the mailing business. Pros This software is extremely easy to use. The reports, barcodes, etc are better than the USPS reports. Easier to read and navigate through the system. Whenever I had a question or was certain about an option, they were right there to assist me. They also provide regular software updates to remain compliant with USPS mailings. I would recommend this software to anyone responsible for regular mailings. It doesn't get better than PostageSaver! Pros I cannot narrow my praise for Postage Saver to one thing. We are a very small religious non-profit with a bi-monthly mailing of around 3000. When our previous software (Envelope Manager) was no longer available to us, we only found very expensive alternatives. I don't remember how we stumbled on Postage Saver, but it was a life saver for us and allowed us to continue to mail since 2012. While we are experiencing a change in direction at this time and haven't mailed for 4 months, we still intend to keep Postage Saver with the thought that we may resume our bi-monthly mailing in the future. If you process bulk mail, you need Postage Saver (coupled with Smarty Streets)! Cons I can't think of one thing I do not like about Postage Saver. April 16, 2019 5.0 We've using PS for years and are very happy with it. It automated (to some degree) a manually system for us, saving lots of time and minimizing errors. Pros It's easy to use. The prompts are pretty straight-forward and processing time is quick. Integrates easily with Excel. Cons I do a mail merge from Excel to Word to print labels. It would be great if there was some sort of indicator where the each new tray starts, or if it can automatically insert blank rows in the Excel sheet for each new tray. Right now I have to go into Excel and insert blank rows manually to separate the label set for each tray. He is very prompt and helpful whenever I have needed assistance and gets back to me in a very fast manner, which is refreshing. I have nothing negative to say. I highly recommend Postage Saver for those doing large mailings. Pros It takes all of the guesswork out of doing a large mailing. Everything is automated and very easy to use. Cons Honestly, I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Also, the developer is quick to respond if there are any issues, although I only had one problem in the years since I've been using it (about 5 years). Pros With Postage Saver I am able to add barcodes to my bulk mailing list which allows us to save a lot of money on postage and our pieces seem to be delivered quicker. Mailing services charge a lot of money to do this so by using Postage saver we save money and can mail out more pieces. New updates have added the AADC barcode which was missing before. It is continuously updated as well. Cons The user interface works fine, but it is not the most attractive software I have used. It is well organized though and easy to use. I'm a small direct mail company and simply don't have the budget for commercial postal software - but this is essentially the same thing. Easy to use with helpful tools and tips. Frequent updates and customer service is extremely responsive to any issues. I've been a loyal customer for more than 7 years! Pros Low cost, frequent updates and stellar customer service. The software is very easy to use with exemplary walk-through windows and instructions. This software is perfect for both new and experienced users of postal sorting software. Cons Nothing. I use it every week and saves me $$$ as compared to the more ridiculous over-priced "commercial" postal software. Reason for choosing Postage $aver The cost cannot be beat. I noticed too it is kept updated for functionality as well as for current USPS compliance. I love the fact that I can re-do the processing in my hand in case I made a mistake, or want to make adjustments, such as modify a little a better mail fit on trays, that finally allows to do a clean submission to the BMEU. Plus, the developer is readily available if there's trouble (very rare). Pros It interfaces well with our database program (Filemaker Pro) and reduces manual paperwork by a factor of a million. We used to prepare postal forms by hand and prep the mail the same way. This makes it all a snap. Cons Early on we'd lose default settings each time the software was upgraded..which is often to match new postal lists, but that was solved many moons ago. I know of no issues these days. The no CASS situation isn't great though. I wish you could incorporate something like dial-a-zip or something. Pros Fairly easy and fast to use. Good price. Cons 1) Only zip+4 processing. Wish it could process without +4 2) The address menu is a little convoluted (the area where you assign the fields). I seem to spend the most time here fixing fields, etc. 3) I don't like I have to reprocess a file to reprint reports. Should be available until I start a new session. Some clarifications - First, Yes, you can reprint the reports exactly as you suggest. Just go to the File menu in Postage Saver Pro and you can reprint any report until you process a new mailing. You don't need zip+4 if you are doing nonbarcoded bulk mailings. USPS requires zip+4 for barcoded bulk mailings, so we have to require it as it is part of the barcode. We have recently rearranged the screen you mentioned - hopefully it is somewhat easier to navigate. (see the latest update). Hope that helps.
