Overall, my experience with Aura has been very positive. Their customer support team is always attentive and helpful—they’re quick to answer my questions and guide me whenever I need assistance.

Pros

I absolutely love using Aura for my spa. The booking system is incredibly user-friendly, and my clients always comment on how easy it is to schedule their appointments. The design is sleek, modern, and professional—exactly the kind of aesthetic that reflects my brand. What I appreciate most is how seamlessly everything is integrated: digital forms, waitlists, and secure payments through Aura Pay. The automation has saved me so much time and has truly streamlined my day-to-day operations.

Cons

If I had one suggestion, it would be to add more functionality to the A920PRO device. I’d love for it to work more like a computer during checkout. That capability isn’t available yet, but I hope to see it in future updates.

Well put together and easy to use. Offers a remote option for all features as well as a convenient app for stylist and clients alike,

Pros

Very customizable, tons of add ons depending on what the business needs. In have been using Aura in our 4 salons for about 2 years and I will not be going anywhere else!

Cons

The setup process can be a bit tedious but in the long run prevents from messing things up. Aura support team is always available to help if things need fixing.

The software is ok but you have to go in out of so many windows to find what you are looking for. Reports are hard to understand.

Pros

I love working with \[sensitive content hidden\] but it is really hard to connect with her in an emergency. Always have to schedule an appointment that could be several days out which does not help in the moment.

Cons

The onboarding process was very weak and could never get a hold of support to help in the moment. Hardly any training is done hands on before you start operating.

Pros

It’s easy to use. Offers great tools and reports. I love the dashboard. I also appreciate the help pages, it helps onboarding a new hire with the right tools to learn the system efficiently.

Cons

Huummm, I really don’t have anything negative to say. It is always growing and improving. Anything that can be offered to bring us into the AI world would be great

I have been super happy since switching. It is easy to navigate, amazing for marketing, and client communication!

Pros

I love the built in messaging portion, as well as "sent" for target marketing. It allows us to direct message our clients and keep up communication. I love the built in express pay portion that securely stores credit cards and allows us t charge for no-shows. It also has custom forms that we can send out that our guests have to acknowledge and sign!

Cons

The thing I think I am needing the most is a "goal" tracking system for staff. We are having to use a google drive platform, and quit honestly, they are not as engaged with this method as when it was all in one seamless spot.

As the salon manager my overall experience with Aura has been great. From the onboarding process to now, over 2 years later, it has been a great and smooth experience. Now that we are more familiar with all of the basics we are really looking forward to looking into all the added features that are offered that we are not using. I really really enjoy this booking system!

Pros

Their customer service is top notch and the design of the website is so easy to use. We have had a few technical problems since getting this software, but they are always fixed quickly!

Cons

The lack of customization can be frustrating. Our old system allowed us to set custom color for certain services and that is not available with Aura. Other than that I don't have many complaints.

We’ve had Aura for about five years now, and have had ups and downs. I’m aware no software is perfect, however It’s been disappointing that it feels like requests aren’t heard/prioritized after years of waiting and requesting and giving concrete examples. Being told to fill out a google form for requests is fine but feels like they go into a black hole. We requested a change in 2022 that would make this easier for the majority of users (to be exact, it was using hours instead of minutes, ie, 2hrs and 45 minutes of 165 minutes) and it took until 2025 to get it to happen. Also we’ve been asking for a consolidated history for years, all services/products/everything at a glance but we have to click too many buttons and go to too many different sections to find the simple information that we need. Our stylists need quick easy information and if we make them jump through too many hoops, they do not do it. We can make do with workarounds to an extent. But waiting years for updates or improvements is difficult to work with. Being agile and responsive seemed it would benefits the end users the most. I think there are areas that need tightening up and other areas that get attention paid but probably not helpful (classes in aura (vs having separate work activities for punching in for classes to track time/hourly rates), keeping sensitive data inside employee profiles, when we need to use a separate payroll service anyway, we don’t need social security numbers in aura). So I wish they would prioritize items that matter and are heavily used instead of functions that elicit little end benefit. I’ve never been asked/polled about what features/functions we use all the time vs not, though I’m sure they can tell from the back end data what parts are used by whom.

Pros

Clean interface, I like how it looks and appears on our screens, colors, fonts, etc, it’s easy on the eyes. Appreciate it’s not a separate app to download, just web based. The text function is key to being able to communicate with guests and it works well and is fairly thorough. Support does get back to you in a timely fashion during support hours.

Cons

Not enough transparency of leadership or the company, it’s difficult to tell who is in charge and making decisions or truly hearing feedback from salons. Even on the aura website there is no mention of employees, employee profiles, etc. Salons are small businesses and we are people oriented, we want to know WHO our partners are and at Aura, it’s unclear. There are endorsements from other salon owners but to be honest, some of those salons don’t even use the software anymore. The Aura community Facebook page is desolate so I’m just not seeing the connection between the company and salons. We can use AI for a lot of things but we are still a service business. Simple metrics/functions that should be available seem to not work or aren’t reliable/make sense (some benchmark metrics, ability to adjust commissions easily, random notes in note sections). I dislike having pop up ads when we are paying for the service. I’ve requested multiple times to have ads turned off but they explain it’s a marketing function. I don’t wishing to be marketed to when I’m trying to work and I’m ALREADY a customer. Support isn’t open on Saturdays, just Monday-Friday. Saturdays are typically busy days in salons and being unable to get a hold of someone in a pinch when you need is difficult. Tracking employee hours vacation sick time is impossible when you can’t do half days/leaving early. We have to use a separate system for time off requests and if someone wants to leave early, it’s too many steps to make it show up on their schedule and then isn’t accounted for accurately. This is important for tracking hours for legal purposes. Guest receipts are confusing showing breakdowns of services and payments. What they receive in email does not match up to what the receipt looks like on our end, causing confusion. We dislike the inability to know what customers are seeing in text messages, the automated reminders don’t show up on our end so we often don’t know what they are responding to. I liked the interface for aura and how user friendly the software is. The learning curve was minimal and the help center was incredibly helpful if i was unsure how to use a feature.

I'd say it has been overall positive. I was able to learn all the shortcuts quickly which made it very easy to use. It was very easy as well to train new hires on they learned it quickly as well.

This software is very easy to use and I learned my way around it very quickly! I like all the shortcuts it has.

Cons

Some bugs at the beginning of using but have since been fixed. Something I wish it would fix would be having the card on file transfer over to different location and I wish it would have an app instead of just a website.

Team has been great. Listened when we need help & always has an open ear to how the software can work better for our team.

Pros

I love the Aurora salon where has empowered my salon to not only go successfully front deskless, but also to raise our retail per client tickets to above $30. The text functionality of Aura is incredible, and has cut down on the amount of calls that we receive to the salon substantially therefore reducing the need for our concierge team to be tied to the phone. The built in review function allows for us to track how our team is doing, boost online reviews, and mitigate negative reviews ever reaching review platforms. The guests love the ease of it being able to text both service providers & the salon concierge. My favorite function is that Aura requires a card when booking and requires the guest to accept cancellation policies and redo policies before booking their appointment. This has saved us from losing countless amounts of dollars on late cancellations or no-shows. The dashboard function makes coaching stylists in monthly meetings easy and is great for visual representation of how they are doing in accordance to their goals. Having a one on one salon success partner through Aura instead of having to wait for hours on end to speak to someone in a support center has made a tremendous difference in the amount of wasted time and frustration when finding resolutions to challenges that we are having in the salon. I love that Aura as a team is here to listen to feedback from owners and find resolutions and implement new programs.

Cons

I'm excited for the future where guests are able to see loyalty points in app, salon scale integration, the ability to send sent campaigns to all clients, booking widget, & review widget.

Pros

Aura is the best software system I’ve ever used. I’ve been using them for 3.5 years now and I couldn’t imagine using another company. Their platform is easy to use, makes a seamless cash out, quick reporting, and easy online booking for clients.

Cons

The only con is that to track prebookings you need to hit the prebook button so it’s a harder stat to track.

Overall, our experience has been wonderful! It’s simple and convenient to use. It’s easy to train new employees on. 10/10 experience!

Pros

It is convenient to use! I love the features that it has to make booking clients smooth and easy. I also love the client log which makes it simple to keep track of client information.

Cons

I wish the internal side was a little bit easier to work. We have some issues with membership / subscriptions expiring and not being notified. We wish this would be fixed.

Limited function for retention reporting, seems a little outdated in terms of response and AI. Clunky around client profiles. You have to go to 2 options

The company it’s self is ran by a salon owner, so they really understand what our need is in the industry right now!! I’m forever grateful that I transitioned.

Pros

I love this software! After bouncing between different softwares, I finally found my home with Aura. They literally thought of everything that a salon app needs. They made it easy for my clients to prebook through their mobile apps while taking off the stress from my front desk. Their layout on their visual dashboard and reports make it really easy to read and identify areas of growth in my salon. The revenue I’ve been able to bring in through their automated client reminders has also been a huge blessing. My stylist love it!

Cons

Like any software it takes practice and time to adjust. But, their onboarding and support team are extremely patient and supportive through the transition.
