It has been great. Support is always great at answering the phone and walking you through what you need. I've made a lot of mistakes as we've started and grown this business, but I've never regretted going with Sonar.

Pros

Sonar has been great for us. We use it to manage our billing, ticketing and network administration for our ISP. Without Sonar, we wouldn't be able to track and manage our ever-growing client list.

Cons

It can be confusing. I'm more of the business side rather than the technical. Understanding the entirety of what Sonar offers and building your business processes around it can be daunting. Support and onboarding are great at answering questions, but it can be time consuming to change policies and procedure to fully utilize what Sonar can do. Currently we are still probably only using about 30% of the features offered by the software.

Reasons for choosing Sonar

At the time, we were a very small business and Sonar had an entry level option for $99/month. Went that direction based on budget, have stayed a customer based on service.

From both V1 to V2, Sonar has played a major role in managing new and current business. Amid the COVID pandemic, we saw exponential growth due to people needing internet to work from home or attend school. This software helped us manage over 4000+ transactions seamlessly.

Pros

Reporting in V2 has been a game changer. Best reporting system I've used to date.

Cons

No open API for VOIP phones like Ring Central

Pros

The claims of the salesperson were awesome! Sonar was going to cut my workload and free my time for other projects.

Cons

It just doesn't work... The migration of my data to Sonar was a major catastrophe, it took me months to correct my data. There was no training offered and the help function is useless. Sonar can't process credit cards properly, nearly 7% of the transactions fail. The reports are often not working. They introduce new features in the middle of the day that don't even work. Some days I can't even process payments... It feels like they do not test before releasing their software. I am tired of doing their beta testing. The radio management did not work at all for months as we kept on getting erroneous information about how to set it up (it still doesn't work fully after 1 year). Sonar said it could handle French (it doesn't). We had to provide translations to them.

I want to be fair to the Sonar team and say up front that I thought Sonar 1.0 was solid - it 'just worked' and for almost two years I used it on a daily basis without issue. Then we started talking about migrating to Sonar 2.0. They made many promises of new and exciting functionality, things that would make our jobs easier and our customers happier. Nearly eight months after migrating, we're all convinced it was a huge mistake. The migration itself wasn't too bad. Nothing blew up, nobody (visibly) cried, and our team started logging in to try out the new system. What should have been a shiny new version certainly felt like a paid Beta test. 2.0 was nowhere near 100% feature parity with Version 1.0, 'must have' features needed from day one were not even on the development roadmap, and we quickly filled a list with instances of bugs and bad UX design choices, important missing functionality, broken financial reports, substantial changes released during business hours, and more. Looking through the Sonar 'community' forums, it became clear we weren't the only unhappy users. A number of post-migration users brought up problems and frustrations. To his credit, after 2 months of silence \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] finally did respond -- to take zero ownership of the situation and let us know they were planning on 'retiring' the forum. While I hope the Sonar team eventually gets it together, we are currently searching for a replacement because of how bad the experience has been.
