Choice made based on price but stayed with it because it just works. Have integrated with FAW score and match feeds and run two screens promoting football and social events. Pros Ease of use and reliability. Remote web access to update screen contents and simple rule settings for the use of added / retired media makes day to day use really fast. Cons Lack of ability to set defaults for values. Working on complex layouts for grids of data being fed in is really fiddly and prone to not saving successfully. Principal Primary/Secondary Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Superb digital signage system" June 11, 2025 5.0 Overall I was sceptical when it came to Xibo - it is free, but still the learning curve is quite steep - many options, functions and settings. Don't worry, it is a great product, you just have to invest time to learn about it and all it provides. Pros It is very customizable, easy to deploy and it makes digital signage simple enough to use. The costs are fairly low (licenses for Android devices), but mostly it is free (server portion, and Windows licenses). Cons It can be hard to use all the functions and to make full use of Xibo. There are so many functions and options that are buried in settings and menus ... but after you familiarise yourself with Xibo, it is a pleasure to use. Ration between cost and performance is good. Xibo is relatively simple and flexible over a large number of platforms. Pros flexibility, embedding of HTML and JavaScript is great, good scheduling tools, simple adding of new displays Cons Editor is too slow, image loading in editor is slow. Pure display monitoring and status of display. Better management of displays from a content point of view. Preset of commands to manage HW remotely is missing like (like, sleep, wakeup, restart, brightness etc. for all android and windows). Canva import is static, would be nice to import design with object so we change change the content. I initially managed to deploy on a web server, but now with Docker, the installation is easier. I also like the ease of use and compatibility with all clients, including smart TVs. It displayed news from my website intertwined with ads for companies that operated in the business. All I had to do was to set up Xibo "on prem" (my own server) and use a cheap TV-box as a client. No hussle. Pros I was looking for an affordable DOOH platform for my business and Xibo was by far the most complete option. Its RSS news grabbing capabilitie, was decisive for choosing this platform, since I work with news media. It was easy to install and set up. Cons The edit page is a little cumbersome. Its GUI for editing a screen could be more feature-rich, like Canva's, where you can just slide and move objects in the timeline. Using the docker option, it's easy to install and update. Pros It does everything we need for digital signage. We can display calendars, RSS feeds, videos, web pages, slides, etc. We can set schedules to expire content or show it only at specific times. We leverage the open source option which works well for us. Cons The UI works well but takes some time to get used to. That's probably true about most any product but it's something to note. September 23, 2025 5.0 xibo is very successful with its open source and community version. Creating design menus and playlists is very quick and easy. Pros I use and like xibo because it is open source and has a community version. I use and love Xibo because it's open source and has a community edition. Installation is very easy. There's plenty of documentation for installation support. It's a great value for the money. I haven't had any issues with customer support so far. Menu navigation and screen management are clear and user-friendly. Creating a design menu and playlist is quick and easy. Cons I found it a drawback that the xibo cms wasn't published directly via Plesk servers. I'd like it to be published on Plesk without the need for Docker. The value for mony is excellent, I don't think there are better solutiuons for signage within SME's. Pros Easy to use, very flexible as to what types of devices are supported. We use it for within our office to show everything from internal messages to weather updates and even the latest standings in football leagues. Its easy to vary information on display based on location or time. Regular updates for bug and issues, both on the backend and the players. Cons Altough easy to use its hard to master. There are a lot of advanced options that take some time to learn and understand. The user interface on the backend is a bit tricky. On the other hand the avanced options make it very powerfull.
