August 28, 2020 5.0 Overall I’ve been really pleased with how quickly I can produce quality videos as needed. It makes it much easier to respond to inquiries in a timely manner! Pros It was really easy to get started using Soapbox! I like that you can see yourself as you get started to make sure you appear on screen the way you want because both you and your screen are being recorded at the same time. Also, I LOVE that once you’ve recorded it’s easy to decide whether you want yourself, both you and your screen or just your screen to shown on the final video! Cons I wish you could see yourself somewhere on the screen during recording to make sure you’re still centered on camera. It would also be nice to be able to cut out parts you don’t want to include in the final recording. We've used it for promotional videos, personalized sales videos, training videos, and educational videos. Pros Soapbox is super easy to use. It's awesome that users can leverage split screen capabilities, so that they can show their face and their screen. It doesn't require a ton of technical or production expertise. It's easy to quickly whip up nice looking videos! Cons The editing features are a bit rudimentary. It's pretty easy to trim the beginning and ends of videos, but it's not as easy to clip content out the middle of a video. Editing can be time-consuming. Pros The best thing is its feature that allows me to record both the screen and my face for making any presentations, pitches, or advertisements. Cons My upset experience with this app is that its browser extension didn't work, and I had to remove and re-install several times, which made me feel annoying about it. Although I will say I like CloudApp a little better for some of the additional types of screen grabs and records I can create and share. Pros I really like that I can record myself sharing my screen and have the option to have my face included or just have the screen shared. It's great for grabbing content that I need to send to a customer to walk them through how something is done. Awesome tool for answering questions and troubleshooting. Cons The editing of the clips is simple, but I wish there were more options for taking out parts in the middle rather than just clipping the beginning and the end. I also sometimes have a hard time getting it to stop right where I want it and have to drag and guess a few times. The other thing I wish it had (maybe it does and I missed it?) is a way to do a muted screen recording. Sometimes I just need to show where I'm clicking and don't need audio, and would rather not have the content I'm sharing have the audio of my clicks or my breathing in it when silence would do fine. I love the split screen capabilities and they're constantly adding new features and tools. We've had a lot of success with creating educational videos for our clients as well as explaining new features through videos prior to releasing them. Cons We could use the ability to insert writing over the video or even insert a screen of just writing for educational videos. Cons I wish Soapbox had the ability to edit/trim content in the middle of a video instead of just trimming off of the beginning of the end. This can create extra work at times. Cons It really frustrated me that I can't download and post my videos where I'd like to.
