Pros Vyond is easy to set up and comes with a ton of great characters that are easily customizable. I love all the sets and different environments that come stock and you can build whatever your imagination can dream up as well. Cons I feel that there could be better movements/emotions that the characters could have. For example, if there was a slider that could moderate the expressions so that there is more subtlety to the characters faces. I used Vyond at my last job and do at my current as well. I subscribed for a short term to leverage it for a project for an interview (after which I received a job offer!). Pros I love how easy it is to use Vyond and that with the ease of use, the features are not compromised. There are so many possibilities to make unique videos and the Vyond team is continuously improving and updating the software. Cons Sometimes the timeline is cumbersome if you have a screen that has multiple assets, I can be difficult to manage them. Also, I wish there were a feature to hide/show assets when developing. It is fun to use, and the feedback has been positive. People in our organization ask how we can use Vyond videos to get out a message, explain a process or procedure, and incorporate it into annual and ad-hoc training. Pros Vyond is very easy to use. I learned how to create my first video in just a few minutes. The learning curve was very fast and there are a lot of tutorials and how-to videos. I like how I can customize characters to look like our instructors and team members. The templates are great and let me create a video quickly. Cons Some of the props and character design elements are not available for all body types, but I was told they are working on the programming to fix it. Pros It can be difficult to make "live" training material when you don't have a team to skilled presenters handy, especially as many of us continue to work from home. With Vyond, I have been able to create a cast of characters all by myself. Once you become familiar with simple tricks and tips, the timeline builder is easy to use and creates seamless animation while building one "slide" at a time. Cons If you're a "jump right in" kind of person, there can be a bit of a learning that sometime comes with trial by error. But like anything, the more you use it, the easier it gets. It gives me variety in my curriculum and makes it more interesting. And best of all, I keep learning new things it's capable of doing so I don't ever feel like I know everything about it! Pros Vyond is incredibly easy to learn. The extensive selection of templates help users springboard into a finished product with the addition of a few details. Users can be as design as much or little of a video as desired and still come out with a professional product. The software is continuously being updated with more features to make it more useful and versitile. Cons The software can sometimes take time to save and transition from the video library back to the design screens. If you have an idea, but can't quite figure out how to do it, they will either point you to a webinar or video that shows you how to create it or one of their representatives will work with you directly to help you build it. Pros Vyond helps me create creative pieces of video that I can import into my training courses. The camera angles and animations help the content come alive for the users. Cons Sometimes it's easier to create an animation in PowerPoint, but every month Vyond is making improvements and they listen to their users. Some of the templates are even based on topics or categories and help me organize my thoughts when creating a video. Cons The only thing I would really like Vyond to have is closed captioning as this is really important in our organization. I know I can do open captions but that isn't quite what we want. The interface is rather user-friendly and simple to navigate. It has a bunch of assets and templates in the library. You can choose your desired assets from the built-in library or upload yours and use them in no time. Cons There is no animation effects tailed for text. Time savings is the biggest benefit for me and the interface is much less clunky than some other character animator software I have used in the past. Pros Vyond is a super easy tool to learn if you are already used to slide-based development strategies. The interface is similar to other eLearning authoring tools, so the learning curve was not very steep. The character animation options are what set this tool apart from other animation software. TI have found huge time savings using Vyond and my learners and stakeholders agree that the look and feel is modern and "refreshing." Cons The only learning curve I experienced was getting used to how Vyond "continues scenes." There are some moments I have to rework slides because my character doesn't flow from one scene to the next--this is especially true if I need to re-record audio or insert an audio clip replacement. I have also found some limitations with the asset library and the character's outfits and expressions. It's brought some excitement to our meetings, onboarding emails, and more! Pros I love that I can create learning content that is interesting, jovial, and informational. It's extremely easy to use and get set up as well, which makes the learning curve that much speedier. There are lots of options from templates to props to characters. Cons Although there are lots of options when creating characters, I do wish there was a little more customization of placement or color selections. April 13, 2021 5.0 Pros As the title implies, I'm not a video communicator. I'm a writer, I'm a designer, but producing videos is not something I'm entirely adept at or enjoy doing. Until Vyond. This software makes it so east to create a video that it's fool-proof. There's still talent required to have a great script to start. But with that, anyone can make a video. I particularly love the templates and e-blasts to get new tools and tricks. I still won't say I love making videos, but it's been an invaluable tool in my communication packages. Cons Because I am a graphic designer, there are things I want to make happen in a video that I'm not able to do with Vyond. But for what I'm doing, I don't need anything more technical or advanced than the drag and drops and adjustments this tool offers. Pros I had tried some of the Adobe products and the learning curve was pretty steep. Vyond made it easy to quickly make a video and make it look like the character was talking. All my clients have been very impressed with what I'm able to produce. Cons Some of the interface isn't straightforward, I've had to fiddle around to make it do what I want for some of my projects. I like being able to continue a scene to make more complex animations. Cons It is difficult using it in the browser sometimes. Pros It's quick to learn, and with clear tools you can instantly start practicing and being productive. Linking your audio to any character makes voice work simple and easy. Having animation created for you with just your beginning and end points makes the process far quicker for producing useful videos. I really like the expert webinars they offer which takes your basic skills to new heights and allows you to be creative beyond what you can come up with by yourself. Cons I would like even more tools for customizing the characters, especially in the face and a few more in the body types and sizes, although they have expanded it some in the past few years.
