“If you have several locations as I do (77 at this time) we do have to have 2 separate accounts since each account can technically hold 100 locations, but reporting can only manage 50 per account for our usage so having multiple accounts is not the best user experience for myself.“

### "BrightrLocal - Kickied off our second citations campaign "

Just completed the startup process for our second citation builder campaign with BrightLocal. I'm a stickler for accuracy and good process so BrightLocal was an excellent fit for me and our business. Big shout out to Aljon who was very responsive in reaching out to me within 24 hours after I kicked off to campaign to discuss our requirements and work with me to answer all my questions and clarify how various aggregators and listing companies work. We traded back and forth three or four emails - each one with details and recommendations from Aljon on the best way to proceed to enhance our online presence and SEO. There was no upselling - only straight talk and professionalism. After the first campaign, we saw our leads increase so I'm confident we will see better results after we complete the second campaign for our second location. Both campaigns with BrightLocal have exceeded my expectations and the way Aljon and his colleagues work shows me these folks and this company really care about the customer.

Cons

Some quirky website functionality on the mobile platform but otherwise well designed. For example when I tried to customize dashboard, it would not save.

### "An Affordable Way to Build Citations"

For the most part, the platform is affordable, effective and the support is helpful. Anytime we have had an issue, someone has responded quickly.

Pros

Fast response rate from the team when we need assistance. It is a more affordable way to build citations for SEO than many other options.

Cons

The citation builder can be somewhat confusing. When you first begin using the service, you don't realize that it takes several steps to get a new location started. You think that you have started building citations, but you have to check back after you first begin the process.

This is a reporting tool who's data is 80%+ inaccurate. After working through many automated emails from them, my team and I finally got a meeting with our Brightlocal rep. They literally told us to go in and fix it manually for each and every client. Clearly we have no use for a reporting tool who's reporting is so aggressively wrong so we attempted to cancel our annual subscription. Here was the reply: Our rep: "As per our Terms and Conditions: Section 6.5) 'If you subscribe to a Subscription Service then you may cancel such Subscription Service at any time. Termination will take effect from the end of the current Subscription Service Period. Subscription Fees will not be refunded for early cancellation or any other reason'." Basically, if you own the annual account for a day, you can't get refunded for the year, even if the product is faulty in nearly every way from a reporting perspective, contrary to what was advertised. I'm sure a representative will comment on this rating and claim that they "taught us how to correct this issue and how to identify reporting mistakes" so here is my preemptive rebuttal: A. - Going in regularly to correct reporting issues completely eliminates the purpose of having a reporting tool. We were not made aware of the potential for reporting inaccuracies until after we were annual customers. B. - With client facing white label reporting, I might be able to identify and ignore faulty information but my client certainly won't.

Hi Caleb I'm Myles, BrightLocal's CEO. I'm very sorry that you had such a frustrating experience. Our policy is not to refund fees, however, we offer a free 14-day trial which typically gives customers long enough to evaluate our service, and most sign up for a monthly plan (not annual) which means they can leave any time. I have spoken to my Head of Support and discussed your case, and we will refund your payment in full as a gesture of goodwill. We put a huge amount of effort and resources into data accuracy but the data isn't always 100% correct for a few reasons. We grab data from over 400 sites and many of these sites don't have APIs so we have to scrape the data. Many sites are not well structured which makes finding listings tricky. I won't go into the detail but long story short, finding listings isn't an exact science. I would really like the chance to talk 1-1 so I can apologize personally; I have emailed you directly. To some degree or other we've used all the different toolsets, and every single local business we've worked with has been entered into the system. For some we've used limited items, like citation building and tracking, and for others we've used the whole suite. The improvements over the years have been impressive, with white label dashboard a few years ago, right up to the recent local rankings grid reports.

Pros

The ease of setup when entering a new client is probably my favorite feature, the way you can literally utilize every tool in the shed during a clean click through process.

Cons

The fact that their "Citation Checker" shows an ever growing number, and displays a chart giving a false impression of growth when the old citations may no longer exist. When a citation no longer exists, it should come off the report just like a lost link would. The Google Analytics integration is also very basic, and it would be nice to have more data options, but for a basic customer dashboard it's okay. It's going to need an update soon, since new businesses are defaulting to GA4 and I dont think this integrates

The experience has been a five star experience. It's a great resource that's easy to use, with excellent support, and very competitively priced.

Pros

The software has nearly everything needed to review, analyze and build Local SEO and digital marketing strategies. This is the first time I've used a tool that covers +90% of our needs. It's easy to setup and use, especially with the extensive and well formed support and training videos and articles provided. Top that off with quick and personal support through calls and chat, and this is a real winner for our organization and customers.

Cons

BrightLocal is a multifaceted set of tools, and initially it was challenging understanding what features are included in the plan vs what were paid add-on tools. Add to the complexity a credit system for reporting and other features and understanding the costs can seems nearly impossible until you begin to use the tools. More keyword research tools would be helpful. Adding more niche review sources would also be helpful.

Excellent so far. I'm just getting started with BrightLocal and the initial experience has been excellent. The potential to expand using their services is very good.

Pros

Very pro-active with communications and clarifications. I was looking to get a handle on my website citations and didn't know where to start. The BrightLocal team reached out to me before starting the initial audit to make sure that I was on the right path. That was comforting and made a big difference. The online guides were very helpful also

Cons

Getting started was a little confusing. I was not sure which service I should start with. The online tutorials helped, but it was still a bit mysterious for a newbie.

Pros

Easy to use. All in one services to track your local grid listings and manage GMB. Also a good tool to run local citations campaigns.

Cons

Need to spend more than just a standard tariff plan to unlock descent amount of options. Need to use additional tools like GMB Everywhere to see some additional data. Need to pay a lot more to unlock Review management options.

I was familiar with BrightLocal through the use by my franchise and our internal suppliers but decided to move forward with a direct account for my clients. My initial onboarding with BrightLocal has been amazing, and I am so glad I opted to move forward with this product. Great customer service and just enough hand-holding to get me off to a great start! The platform is simple to use and my clients love the interface and the dashboard. The reporting alone saves me hours each month!

I offer a free detailed audit. The detailed audit report is pretty impressive. Later on, in the meeting I elaborate on various parts of the report which helps build up the customer's confidence level and most of the times they sign up for our services.

Pros

The local search grid is my most favourite.

Cons

Sometimes it does not pick up the existing citations correctly. Need improved AI.

Bright local is all in one Local SEO tool which everyone should use, especially those agencies which mostly deals in local SEO.

Pros

Birds eye-view of all the important local data under one roof. Including GBM, Reviews, Analytics data to the precise location rankings. Two most other important features which most of the the people are missing or ignoring is the lead generation, this is specially for Agency owners who are looking for local clients and Reputation manager, this will help you generate more reviews.

Cons

There are no such features which I don't like about this tool.

We love the reporting, the ease of adding or revising reports for clients, and the benefits to the client's SEO rankings.

Pros

We get a generous quota of reports each month, white labeled, and automatically sent to our clients showing how their websites are performing compared to their competitors. This is all in addition to getting our clients' listings higher in SEO rankings and into Google's "map pack"

Cons

We have sometimes seen audits pick up the wrong business in a comparative audit, but BrightLocal has always fixed these promptly when we reported it.

They are professional and extremely responsive. I like the support and additional sales materials.

Pros

I always turn to the Local search audit when starting to discuss the digital profile for any business. Too much detail about features can turn people off, but this clearly illustrates the benefits - at a glance

Cons

One criticism of the local search audit is that it gives the same " Good " assessment whether a business has ( for eg. ) , 3 good Google reviews or 300. I think that there should be an additional Excellent category for outstanding metrics. The current system requires constant explanation and qualification to business owners .... yes it is good but you need to do better !

Bright Local is a very useful tool for improving how websites rank. They help me build citations (and links) and manage them ongoing. It is easy to see when something has changed with keyword rankings.

Pros

Bright Local gives me the ability to create and manage citations that help build credibility to my client websites.

Cons

The Citation Tracker page sometimes shows sites that are unrelated to my client. Also, it would be really useful if there were an easy way to update citations on the Tracker Report that are incorrect, even if it were just a set of instructions.

Overall, Bright Local is an amazing tool and I am glad I found it.

Pros

I was using another company for about 5 years or more and they did a decent job building citations, but they didn't have the reporting tools. BrightLocal blew me away with all of the data I could review and helps me manage my local search clients easily.

Cons

Some things aren't intuitive to me like adding connections. Not all of the clients show up on the list and I was confused by this. You have to go to a link about choosing another account and for some reason, I had a hard time with this.

The huge benefit is tracking and monitoring our data and performance in local search.

Pros

We mostly use this for building citations for our clients. But I also love the reports they have for rank tracking. This tool has helped us manage client work in a more organized manner. The customer service is beyond amazing! Always quick to respond and resolve any issues.

Cons

There are certain reports that could be added or improved, and I love the fact that they are always taking our feedback into consideration.

### "Using BL for over a year"

Pros

I have used other products in the past and BL's reporting and external dashboards are key to our customer experience. The reports are easy to read and explain to our clients and the data is accurate.

Cons

If you have several locations as I do (77 at this time) we do have to have 2 separate accounts since each account can technically hold 100 locations, but reporting can only manage 50 per account for our usage so having multiple accounts is not the best user experience for myself. Meaning all of the reports that are available can't be run as often if you have 100 locations in your account.

Excellent

Pros

I have been using this software for my agency for a year. It has saved us tons of time and also serves as a valuable sales and retention tool.

Cons

Sometimes the citation bursts require some work from my internal team to complete. I also don’t like that all searches are conducted from the company’s Location, I wish there were a way to be more fluid with that.

There may be additional phone verifications your team will need to undertake. We don't handle telephone verifications for citation sites that require it purely because we would need direct contact with the end customer. Excellent tool and great customer service and plenty of resources available to constantly level up your skills

Pros

Reporting accuracy is very important for marketing. BrigthLocal reports data accurately and offers best directional insights on how to improve your organic reach. My favorite is the grid report based on keywords and understanding your position rank. It helps get a good baseline and measure the outcome of our SEO strategies against these baselines. Customer service is fantastic and their resources are fabulous

Cons

I really cant think of anything specifically as cons for this tool. so i cant guess it.

The tools really help me get a better understanding of our local rankings. The search grid tool is just an incredible "birds eye" view of how we are ranking and who competitors are.

Pros

We have been a BrightLocal customer for several years. Their team and product are phenomenal. Local search grid is my favorite part of the tool. Their learning resources are incredible.

Cons

We have the minimum investment level (smaller budget company). Wish we could track more key words at our level, but understand because of our purchase level, we just don't see as much data.

The number of keywords you're able to monitor correlate to the plan you've chosen to subscribe to - so for instance, if you're using the Single Business plan, you can monitor up to 25 keywords. Pros

I'm somewhat new to the world of SEO, and I own a small business with no internal tech support. I'm learning as I go, and Bright Loc al's customer support has been very responsive and helpful. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] has been super responsive, communicates extremely well, and is very effective at getting things done. feature

Cons

At the time of purchase, I would have liked a better explanation of what I could expect from the services I bought. The service does feel like it is geared more to professionals in this field who are working with Bright Local on behalf of their own clients. So being a small business owner who is trying to figure out this world of citation building on their own, I would benefit from more of a layperson's approach regarding training and education on their software from this service.
