Comments: Our team experienced an immediate affinity for Certify as an application which we are using along side our current CRM in order to organize , track , and to monitor travel compliant policy alterations for our yearly , very busy travel schedule. Certify as such has become a concrete asset as we save on needless and potentially expensive travel costs.

Pros: We found that Certify readily integrates inside of our current Control Management Software quite efficiently and easily. Certify's own management team help sire us through this process which ultimately reduced our dependency on IT support which can be costly. Certify offers easy to use tools that allow our employees and resource allocation to create fine tuned reports designed to address monetary waste as well to increase cost efficiency. As advised by Certify's team, we are paying particular attention to travel mileage as well as incurred airfare. AP report generation is also available for our accounting in order to focus on reimbursable costs for each department or by employee.

Cons: We did notice occasional operational instability in the form of minor bugs with this program as well as the necessary synchronization that must be initialized by each employee per server , however overall these inconveniences were mitigated through intervention from Certify's capable client service department. They suggested quite effective work around solutions to keep our report flow steady and current.

Comments: Some of the initial set up takes a little bit of time because if it is done wrong the errors will compound with time. Initial set up is key.

Pros: The software is easy to use, both for the back office and for the people out in the field. The processing of expense reports and the integration into out Quickbooks is much quicker than doing it all by hand.

Cons: We had some errors in the beginning of our use with Certify, in that the software would not allow us the ability to process credit card payments for some of our "Current Assets". I find this strange that nowadays with the use of credit cards for so much of purchasing in the world, that there would be a category of expenses that the software would not recognize. Certify was very helpful in tracking down this issue and explaining it to us.

Pros: This is a very intuitive easy to use software but the biggest Pro to this is their customer service. i can't say enough about their service especially on the travel side. Any problem we have ever had in the travel side was immediately taken care of. Very personable. As a user who does travel for the team almost weekly it is such a timer saver to have a service that keeps every ones information on file and provide you with every travel option on one screen. Booking travel is a breeze with certify and the reporting comes directly into the system without having to capture those travel receipts for air, hotel or rental cars.

Cons: Occasionally when you upload receipts it puts the receipt in as a separate entry. I have not figured out what I do to make that happen but it seems to do it most if I don't autofill my receipts. It's not a big issue but more of an annoyance when it happens. That said, its a great product.

Overall: With Certify our expenses of booking travel are down and it is also an accountability tool in managing our travel policy.

Pros: As far as travel and expense software go, Certify is very easy to use. The first time onscreen prompts help you figure out how to enter expenses for reimbursements. I've used other mobile expense software, and I would have to say that Certify has the friendliest interface, and it is difficult to get wrong. The menus and layout make it easy to find current submissions, past reimbursements, and to update your profile.

Cons: I have worked at a company where we switched from one T&E software to Certify, and the experience was terrible. While the interface was great, there were too many steps required in order to enter an expenses. I would also have trouble when I tried to split an expense for a single charge, and had to contact my accounting department as well as Certify Support. It was determined that certain steps were overlooked when the initial implementation of the software was done, so it took an extra 2-weeks, before I could correct my error. Unfortunately for me, this pushed me into the window where the Credit Card I used got charged the interest for that month. I was of course paid back, but it was a hassle none the less.

Overall: When I worked for a company that already had the software up and running and had time to work out the implementation bugs, it worked great. If you can try to include yourself in any focus groups or test cases during testing, so you can make sure that your regular expenses will be able to be entered.

Pros: When traveling as much as I used to for work, Certify gave me the ability to not only keep track of where I went, but the notes feature allowed me to keep track of why I was going there.

I actually had an error occur at work which caused me to have to go back 3 YEARS and give the accounting department a list of every time I drove to headquarters. Being able to go back into Certify to find specific times/dates/mileage/etc. helped me prove that I was actually owed a few hundred dollars! It was no fault of my company or myself, just one of those oversights that could have been missed by anyone. But had I not had Certify and it's ability to keep track of EVERYTHING, I never would have been able to prove the error had occurred!

Cons: Even though I used the app on my phone for years, I still found myself getting confused when it came to determining whether I needed to create an "expense" or a "receipt" - I think there should/could be an easier way to label these two options so that it identifies more with what each one actually means. While it may look as though it should be self-explanatory, there were times when I would just forget.

Overall: The ability to keep track of every mileage reimbursement that I had ever had!

Comments: Certify from a user perspective is easy to learn and use. The mobility tool to take images of receipts in easy to use. The quality of the receipt is good. The OCR technology does a pretty good job at reading the receipts. It is user friendly from a system administration perspective as well. It is click not code. There are simple changes that a system administrator can complete rather than needing to go back to IT to make coding changes. The response time from the helpdesk in fairly quick as well. The account rep/helpdesk was willing to answer my questions as I was learning how to support they system from a system administrator perspective.

Pros: How easy it is from a system administration and end user perspective to us.

Cons: We use the out of box solution. The is some company specific configuration. If there is a feature you would like, you may not always be able to get that feature. Certify will put it on a list and if enough customers request, they may make the change. I also understand that customizing a system to one company is difficult to support. In my experience with expense tools, customizing a system to a particular company is more difficult to support. Using the system the way Certify intended is a better road to travel.

Recommendations to other buyers: Test it out. It really is a nice tool from a user perspective as well as a system administration perspective.

Pros: Not having to submit physical copies and entering expenses as they happen.

Cons: I have bad luck forwarding emailed expenses. My boss typically can't read them. I'm not sure what the system does to these emails but maybe storing them as a PDF would help?

Overall: I was lamenting the loss of productivity with our old method of expenses. Our CFO found Certify and what a profit in our business. 90% of the time I can enter the expense within 5 minutes of getting the receipt. I hang onto the receipts and compare them before submitting my weekly report. Simple and fast. Took a little getting use to the logic of generating a report. Like any new software and with someone internal to our organization who is knowledgeable, you get the hang of it. I would never choose to change back.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be open minded on learning a new way. Think about developing your own personal processes on expenses in a new way when starting. Don't impose strategies you used before on this way of doing it. Enter as you go. Don't hold them until the report deadline approaches.

Pros: My biggest challenge was the time it took to add receipts to expense reports while traveling. There were just too many steps to take from my iPhone. Now you have made it faster and easier to navigate this process!

Cons: None, you made t event better.

Overall: I have been using Certify for over two years. The system has always been easy to navigate and now they made it event FASTER to navigate adding and accounting for receipts as I am on the road! Thank you for making the upload of receipts and preparing expense reports a task that takes less time and mouse clicks!

Cons: They dont know their system entirely. they will sell you something just to sell you.

Their salesmen dont know the ins and outs.

Overall: Im going to make this kind of short....

I was lied to in the sales process, implementation dropped the ball continually. They have zero followup when you have an issue. My implementation coach and even the implementation manager I had to speak with never followed up with me. Oh did I mention they have an implementation fee they bring up just before you sign with them? Its not cheap. But they'll "discount" it.

Due to being lied to during sales, I had to figure out how Certify worked instead of it just working for me. I had to re-enter my credit cards 3 times, and I had 15 credit cards. I had to call the bank to get individual logins for all my credit cards. I have 25 very unhappy users and one irate admin (me).

The import into quickbooks did not go as promised as well. Due to all of this I now feel as if I know more about Certify than my salesman did when he sold me this crap.

The app for the phone is pretty good, Android better than IOS I think. The Web application though is horrible, just horrible. The Layout is bad, you have to confirm simple things, but you can delete an expense with no more scrutiny. They have no way for you to recover deleted expenses. The have a Wallet and a Report, you cannot edit most fields in the wallet, you have to move expenses into a "draft report" then move them back into your wallet! Its about a 10 click process just to change the amount of a receipt or change a category- very important things, heres the procedure lol.

1) Check expense(s) in wallet

2) Click Add to report,

3) Chose whether you want a new or existing report.

4) Confirm that you want to do that.

5) Wait for the expenses to load(which can take a while if you have a lot)

6) click edit

7) Edit the expense, click save (I'll give them this one)

8) Click the icon to open a menu

9) Click Send to wallet.

So 9 steps. There is an alternate way but you get to chose from a little window and you cant select multiple.

So why do I have to leave the wallet to edit an expense?

Oh and if you have a lot of receipts they remove the "merge" option. This matches your receipts with your CC charges automatically! But you cant have more than 100 or 150 lines of charges/expenses, they cant decide on which number, but its between there. So why would you make my life harder if I have MORE expenses?

I hope this saves you from some hassle, expenses are tricky, this is my second go around wasting dozens of hours.

Pros: I like the ability to track expenses and submit them to your manager for approval. This keeps a record and avoid discrepancies in the future. Ability to have a mobile app is great as well.

Cons: The software layout can be improved, especially on mobile. The interface is hard to learn and required some training for our user base.

Overall: Ability to keep track of expenses and get manager approval much easier for projects.

Pros: Ease of use for employees to track and submit expenses. The ability to track their expenses on their mobile devices.

Cons: the delay/processing time for employees who have a large number of items to process in one report is a huge time eater. And, moving between items they feel is cumbersome.

Overall: The digital processing of T&E reports is by far more efficient than having employees submitting them on paper through snail mail.

Certify is pretty easy to use. The auto-import from my companies' purchasing card is very useful.

Pros: The auto-import from my purchasing card is very useful. I also enjoy the mapping system for calculating my mileage. Compiling reports is quick and easy. I like the simple user interface and no nonsense page setups.

Cons: While the auto-import is great; I have experienced purchases that have been placed on reports but will not be deleted. I can't delete these values and they have accrued over my 2 years of using certify. This makes me worried when I have a report due and still have extra values located in my history. Scanning in receipts and matching receipts to my purchases could be a little easier too. Another concern with matching receipts to purchases is when a tip is applied to a purchase there is no way to identify that. There should be a TIP option on restaurant purchases that would solve discrepancies between official purchases and money spent.

Overall: Easy to use purchasing reconciliation

Great value for a piece of software that's unobtrusive but effective. We use it daily and love it.

Pros: It has really made tracking expenses and travel costs a breeze to track, leading to more efficiency and accuracy within our reporting. All of our outside customer sales reps use it daily.

Cons: Scaling to a larger business can seem complicated through the web app in the very beginning but they have a great service team that can answer all your questions. Also things like expense reporting and creating spreadsheets can sometimes take a few moments to load entirely but that's normally due to network issues and rarely has to do with the app.

Pros: I am happy to no longer need to hold on to paper receipts to turn in for monthly expense reports. Submitting your report is very easy if you've kept up on your receipts everyday. Also very easy to review and approve reports for my sales team.

Cons: The auto fill feature is very spotty. Some days it works perfectly and some days it works poorly so my sales team end up missing errors and submitting reports that require work to correct. In the web site, the receipt view can be annoying as it continues to pop up even after you close the window.

Pros: I think the software is user friendly in both the App and the Desktop versions. I like how you can add expenses right from your phone when you are on the go. The way it prefills data from receipts is great. I like how it is connected to Uber and also how easy it is to forward an online receipt to certify and it will generate an expense. I rated customer service and value for money as average because I don't have a good benchmark for either of them.

Cons: I feel the App does some things better than the desktop version and I feel each have different capabilities, which is strange. For example, I can create an expense based on mileage from driving to and from a location, that cannot be replicated within the desktop version.

Overall: Easy way to track expenses and upload receipts with the mobile app. The way it syncs to desktop version is quick and efficient. All receipts and expenses in a variety of different forms can be added (bank statement, physical receipt, online receipt, etc). It is user friendly and easy to understand. Generates expense reports and notifies you of its progress.

Pros: It's an easy application to use and train others. The phone app, and email receipts are very convenient and work well. Exporting reports to Excel is a great feature.

Cons: Glitches, and interfacing with QB is a bit clunky. Would be nice as an admin to be able to see everyone's reports and back out reports when necessary and run specialized, targeting reports that I define.

Pros: The functionality of the workflow and expense management seems to work well with the needs of our company.

Cons: I wish the reporting could be more customizable.

Overall: Certify is the only T&E management application that I've used but I can say that their customer service is absolutely amazing. The ease of use is great and they really care about what their customers want and listen to critiques and then make changes to fit their customer concerns.

Comments: I'm a 25-year sales professional and have experienced several expense reporting processes. The Certify software saves me approximately 90 minutes per week versus the most recent previous process we were provided. I no longer have to make copies of each and every receipt, I do not have to put a print-out and receipts into an envelope, apply postage, and go to the post office.

Our finance department switched us to Certify approx. 18 months ago and I am still thanking them. My one concern was being able to easily reconcile my credit card statement. I've found that it is quite simple to look back at archived expense reports on my iPhone to do this.

Pros: Straightforward and easy to use. Great mobile app. I love the auto-fill feature that actually reads your receipt and automatically completes the required data fields for each expense.

Cons: Sometimes when you navigate away from the expense screen before finalizing the expense, you lose the information you have already inserted.

Overall: Certify has changed my outlook on completing expense reports. Instead of drowning in paper receipts and scratching my head trying to remember what happened weeks (or sometimes months!) ago, Certify and its mobile app make it a breeze to keep track of everything. The amount of time and stress spent on the reimbursement process has been significantly reduced. I highly recommend to any organization! You will not be disappointed.

Comments: We use the software to submit mileage/personal expense and corporate card expense reports. We were previously with another well known company with a similar product, but made the choice to move to Certify. We process just under 1,000 reports per month. The app is easy to use, the website is easy to use. There are some small things I would change if I could, but nothing that makes me regret our decision to go with Certify. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for this type of expense management tool.

Pros: Really easy to use, GREAT support, excellent service.

Cons: Can't attach more than one receipt to an item - sometimes necessary for online purchases. Can't attach a statement to the report - it has to be attached to an expense so you have to create an additional zero dollar expense if you want to attach your card statement. If you enter your expense information before you attach a receipt, when you attach the receipt it wipes out the information you entered and you have to start again. Company admin doesn't have the ability to map the card to individual user's accounts, individuals have to. It would be great if we could do this for the users.

Pros: Software is very easy to use, and it comes with great features. One is the ability to send receipts from an e-mail directly to the date certify email, which this provides a receipt that automatically is in your wallet. Also there is a software feature where you can automatically input receipt amounts, but we have had some issues with but it does the job.

Cons: One tiny issue is that if the expense approval process requires two or more signatures, the user receives an email update about the approval process which in my opinion causes too many emails flowing back and fourth.

Pros: Teaching employees how to use both the app and the computer version was super easy. This is almost a fool proof app. We only really use this for travel and expense reports.

Cons: It was hard to set up with the system that we use to process expense reports (Sage software). I had to call Sage on the phone and have them customize a report so we could use the product.

Overall: Easy to use. Every one I have spoken to on the phone was also extremely helpful and very responsive. All the handouts and tutorials were very easy to understand and left no questions regarding Certify. The webinars were also helpful. Adding users is super easy as well.

Pros: This seemed like an effective and easy to use expense tracking software.

Cons: The sales contact repeatedly assured us that Certify would bring in credit card transactions from our company credit card (Capital One Spark for Small Business). We were explicit that this was the primary driver in our decision, and that importing company credit card transactions was our primary goal. As soon as we paid the implementation fee and were assigned to an implementation specialist, they immediately explained that Certify does not work with Capital One cards, and also does not work with any of these: Chase Ink, American Express @ Work, Simmons Bank, PNC Bank, Bank of America Visa Executive Commercial Card, US Bank. If you use those cards, DO NOT TRY TO USE CERTIFY. They wasted 2 months of my time, and REFUSED TO REFUND the implementation cost, despite the fact that they sold me software they KNEW would not work.

Overall: After several phone calls with the Certify sales team, I was assured that the corporate credit card sync would work for our business. I stated several times that the credit card sync was THE critical factor in our evaluation of expense tracking software, and explained the structure of of our credit card login with authorized users. I was never given any indication throughout the sales process that there was even a possibility that the credit card data couldn't be pulled in, and proceeded with our contract an implementation accordingly.

I dedicated many hours to the implementation process, including introducing our entire team to the website and mobile app. It was not until over a month into the process that our implementation specialist indicated that the credit card aggregator was unable to separate the charges according to authorized user....and that this was a KNOWN ISSUE for credit cards of our type. I spent an additional 4 weeks attempting to help them trouble-shoot the known issue. But the bottom line is that their service does not support small business credit card feeds, has never been able to do so, and they have no plan in place to attempt to do so.

Bottom line: Certify will tell you whatever you want to hear until they take your money. But they do not standby those promises, and you should not trust that their sales people have any idea what the software can actually do or not do. Beware.

Pros: They were willing to work on pricing before we signed up.

Cons: Their system is outdated. The software could be good, but it seems they are not willing to update to get there.

They use a 3rd party linking system which will result in you having to manually reconnect your cards to the system weekly, or your reports will not pull in transactions correctly.

The way the users are set up, it makes no sense and has a very hard flow to things. You constantly have to ghost another user to approve expenses billed to a card that is added to your user.

They are not a customer-focused company who is concerned with their product or how their customers are treated and focused more on filling their pockets.

Certify has a great sales team, but that seems to be where the customer service ends and loads of issues begin.

Overall: We spent many weeks researching the best options for what we were looking for in an expense tracking software. We tried several trials and lastly ended with choosing Certify for the job. Talking with our sales rep, it sounded like a dream! He addressed each of our concerns and assured us everything we were looking for was within their app.

After we signed the contract, we experienced our first taste of what was to follow in how we were to be treated. We set up our first meeting to get started, and after confirming verbally, via email, and google calendar invite, our Account Manager was a no-show. No, follow up, emails, or calls to let us know either. We waited in the meeting link for 30 minutes before we reached out asking what had happened. The response we received was not of an apologetic one, but more of an "oops, I guess I forgot". With this sort of response, we asked that an honour would be placed in that if the software was to not work for us, we could exit our contract without a penalty. Our sales rep agreed that this was a reasonable request, and confirmed we would have an exit option without penalty if their software did not work out for us.

We contacted our reps and let them know the software was not working for us. We tried, but it left us doing more work than our prior manual process. After requesting our account to be terminated, we were given penalties to be paid for exiting our contract agreement early. They would not honour any other agreements.

Comments: I have implemented a number of different T&E systems, but Certify hit the nail on the head! They are easy to use and understand and they have training videos that your employees can use whenever it is convenient for them! I love their latest update of their system! Not only did they let us know about the change months before it went into effect, they even set it up for me to switch my entire company over early once we had tested it! The support is amazing and cannot be compared to any other! There has never been a time that my support team has failed me! Did I mention that Certify never goes down? If you have used Concur, you know that there are daily issues with their system! Certify's sign on screen shows you the status up front.

Pros: Easy to use for both the user and administrator. Certify is always taking suggestions for improvements and actually implementing them.

Recommendations to other buyers: Talk to others that have used Certify because you will hear how seamless the transition is from your current system to Certify. It was scheduled for three weeks, but took maybe two. They did everything for us!

Simple. Fast. Useful.

Comments: Since joining my current company I have used Certify over the past 2+ years. It makes keeping track of business expenses while traveling a breeze. We have other systems to track some of our other expenses and I try to stay away from them and use Certify - it's just so much easier to use.

Pros: Ease of use and simplicity. It's very fast, sign-on is simple & quick. I usually have my meal expenses recorded before I leave the table. Once a trip is over, putting expenses together into a report is also very simple and the receipt wizard is very helpful. I'm able to take a hotel folio and break out my meals from lodging in just a few seconds. I can get receipts entered from my phone's camera, upload from a PDF or sent in by email.

Cons: I can't think of anything. I don't pay for it, my organization does, so I cannot rate cost or value.

Recommendations to other buyers: Think about how this product could save time and avoid aggravation for you and your team - it's a big win in my mind.

Overall: At first, I found Certify to be very hard to figure out. It was not very intuitive. The most difficult part was entering and finding your receipts. It took a while to figure this out. Now I find it pretty easy to use. It's easy to take a photo of your receipt w/ your Certify App and add this to your account. It's also easy to load your c/c info on the site so that whenever you use it, your expense automatically gets added to your account. I would like to see less steps when approving Expense Reports, from the time you "approve" to "submit". There are a lot of steps.

Comments: We found Certify very adaptable and easy to implement even with the unique structure of our company. Certify is continually working on enhancements, most driven by customer request and/or suggestions. Their customer service and support have been wonderful, over the time it feels like you are dealing with an old friend.

Pros: Paperless processing of expenses, awesome reporting capabilities and easy of capturing receipt images on mobile app.

Cons: Our Auditing team would like the ability to move receipt image over to our second screen and have it change to the next receipt, especially for our larger expense reports. I realize the team is currently making improvements on this.

Recommendations to other buyers: If dealing with International and multiple currency credit cards, be sure your credit card companies have ability for data transmission to Certify. We work with employees one on one or in small groups for training. Our auditors find it easiest to work with new employees while their report is in draft mode to make corrections.

Pros: Most employees find Certify very easy to use, and love the mobile app. We moved from Concur Expense which had more back end functionality for administrators but was not user friendly for travelers.

The price point for Certify was significantly lower and yet we get a great product and excellent customer service.

Certify is also responsive to feedback, and improving the product with new features and enhancements.

Cons: Could expand some reporting features or allow ad hoc reporting would be fantastic.

Add some additional functionality for administrators to flag certain expense types and individuals for review. Allow some expense types to not require receipts.

Overall: We feel that our move to Certify was good and the right move for our travelers and users. Overall I would recommend Certify to others, especially since they continue to improve their product and add features.

Pros: It's really easy to submit your expenses with your phone through certify's app without needing the internet. You can just add your full day expenses and at the end of the day with just one button send it all to the software in your computer and from there you can create reports and send them directly to your manager.

The person at your company controlling the software has the ability to choose which categories appear in your app, so it can fit every business and every person.

Cons: The invoice recognition doesn't quite work. So just stick to the fill up the blanks yourself.

Overall: I find it quite helpful to manage expenses especially if you need to control your team expenses. You and set it to send reports to you and approve them or not. It's really user-friendly. App's design is not the best but it fills your needs.

- I find it sometimes confusing with the distinction between "I paid for this" and "the company paid for this". Sometimes, I'm just not certain which category it should go in.

- We have a long list of expense categories at PB. It would be nice if the list could be more searchable and filtered to find what you are looking for more easily.

- I find it is hard to clear old receipts. I don't need receipts from 3 years ago. And when I go in to grab receipts for new expense reports, I have to scroll down to the bottom.

Cons: Occasionally we have two different pieces of documentation (such as a receipt and a purchase requisition) that we would like to attach to one expense but the system only allows one receipt to be attached to each expense.

Also, sometimes when an employee attaches a picture of a receipt, the reviewer cannot use the magnify button to increase the size of the receipt for easier viewing.

Overall: We were previously on a paper-based system with manual entry into our AP system. With Certify we have been able to eliminate the paper expense reports and we can upload the expense reports into our AP system. This has freed up our AP clerk to help in other areas and has made it easy for out-of-state employees to complete their expense reports.

Comments: Certify offers a complete solution to any company that wants to streamline their expense reports. As a user, I simply have to take a photograph of my receipt on the App or email it to a dedicated address Certify has set up. I can then classify, add names to those in attendance (for business meals and the like) which is quick and easy. My manager then gets an email that I submitted an expense report and he is able to review it and either approve it or reject it back to me for clarification or errors. If the report is approved, our accounting team then reviews the expenses submitted and reimbursement is approved if all looks good.

I used to have to do Excel spreadsheets for this same type of submission and Certify is leaps and bounds superior to that method. Certify even has limit warnings built into the program so that if an expense submitted exceeds a company policy, the user is told so before submission. This allows me to offer additional information to justify this expense in a text box that is part of the expense submission for every receipt.

My manager and our Controller can pull reports from Certify to ensure our expenses are within budget and see where we can improve.

Simply a great program.

Pros: Certify is the only non-paper form system I've used for expense reports. I can't compare it to other systems but it's definitely a big improvement over an unwieldy paper form based system. The system works well, and it's nice that they support uploading receipts from whatever device you are using. Notifications for approvals are helpful too.

Cons: Myself and the employees under me don't use Certify that frequently, so sometimes it feels like we have to fight with the system to do what we want, but I'm sure some of that is us forgetting how to do something since we don't use it that often. One example is that I've noticed several times that after trying to use a receipt on a new expense report, there will be a problem with the receipt and it won't be usable until I click the "Cleanup Wizard" button on the top of the screen. Cleanup Wizard ends up fixing the problem, but if it was able to fix it why not make it automatic?

Pros: An easy way to get all expenses in before you get back from a trip.

Cons: Some features in the web browser are not intuitive to me, and I have to use both web browser and phone app version to complete uploads and data entry for PDF files.

Overall: The product concept is great. not having to get home to make your expenses on a spreadsheet is a great time-saving. I found some shortcomings on the software as I try to use files that are not always pictures of receipts. When uploading PDF files sometimes I have a hard time to make the receipt to show on the phone app. Also, When I upload files I have not been able to select and set up the expenses in the web browser version, only in the phone app version. It might be me, or the features are not intuitive to me to be found easily. So sometimes I will go back and forth between phone app and web browser to be able to complete an expense report. I still love it!

Pros: The ability to easily upload receipts and manage expenses both through mobile and online makes for a fairly seamless process.

Cons: The amount of time it takes on the website to compile an expense report - Process could be easier. I wish it was easier to switch between receipts/expenses online and know what each one is. Currently, I have a list of maybe 30-40 expenses and have to go one by one and figure out what needs attention.

Pros: It is simple to use and easy to understand.

Cons: When you do a map-it sometimes it takes you on a route you didn't take but it is easy to change the mileage and just type in the explanation as to why you used a different route.

Overall: I have never had to use an expense report but I am so glad you were my first. You are easy to use and the friendliest people ever. They even answer simple questions that aren't stupid but sometimes you feel are not real important. They answer those to. Thanks!!!

Pros: The speed at which transactions are recorded from phone to computer and how they are reported

I also like the wallet transfer feature that also drops the charges into each report as a question for inclusion

Cons: Exchange rates for say Canadian to us don't jive with the cc charges I have to wait until all credit card transactions are validated and then snip copies and add as a zero value entry on my expense report

Pros: Ease of use and the easy access to customer support.

Cons: We'd love to use the invoicing feature, but unfortunately it's not super compatible with how we handle manufacturing invoices.

Overall: We love Certify and it has really changed the game for us as far as expense reporting goes. We are a pretty old fashioned company in the way we do most things, especially up in accounting, but Certify was easy to train on and catch on to for our people, especially for those weary of anything to do with technology. Their customer service is top notch and we enjoyed putting faces to names at the Chicago User Conference. We can't wait to continue working with Certify on other areas that may help us improve our accounting functions.

Comments: I like Certify a lot but there are a few improvements that would really make it shine such as 1) Allowing the user to set preferences in certain fields such as the organization.. having to constant scroll through the list to my department wastes a lot of time. 2) Allowing the user to set preferences for certain expenses.. for example "Employee Entertainment".. be virtue of the expense type all persons should be from the same company.. We should be able to set our company name to a default value for that expense category. 3) Reimbursable expenses on the same receipt.. The user should be able to set more than one expense types in the same expense record.. For example, for company reimbursed Office Phone and ISP charges. Today you can only enter Phone or Internet.. So if Verizon provides both, that means two separate entries.. Save us the double work and allow more than one expense type per entry.

Pros: Pre-loading (actually, it's just keeping them once they're in) addresses makes it easier to track mileage.

Cons: If you have more than one trip segment that is the same distance as another one, Certify likes to create an error message. This seems like something that would be eliminated by having the Bot look at the destinations and realize that just because you have two or more trips of the same length, they aren't the same trip.

Comments: I have never experienced an easier way to handle my corporate expenses. My expenses are automatically uploaded from my Corporate credit card, or I can enter items such as mileage and miscellaneous expenses with ease. The smartphone app allows me to image and upload my receipts with ease, and then simply match them up with the appropriate expenses. Submission is a breeze and allows you to rate airlines, hotels and dining establishments. I can access every expense report I have archived. All in all, it's a seamless tool, especially for a road warrior.

Comments: This is a good stand alone product it just doesn't really work well with my accounting program. Right now we are just using it to capture mileage reimbursement but I'm not sure that we will continue using the program because again I'm not sure it is worth it to keep it just for mileage.

Pros: What I like about this product is that it can record mileage, the customization it has available. There are plenty of resources available on their website to help educate customers on the product. The Certify Team is really helpful and always have a positive interaction.

Cons: I don't like how this product syncs with Quickbooks. There is alot of manual input which is what I was trying to avoid and why our team ultimatley ended up signing up for certify. Certain data doesn't transfer over like billable expenses to customer/job. Additionally, it doesn't recognize duplicate entries that were synced over so alot of work was duplicated. I don't like how you can't split expenses until you create a expense report. Also the auto expense feature doesn't work very well very often my expenses were recorded incorrectly and synced to my books incorrectly so it actually created more work for me to go back and try to correct the issue. Lastly, when my team submits a expense report it always flags every transaction so that all the fields are entered. I wish there was a way to turn off some of the insignificant sections like location.

Pros: The ability to download a receipt from my phone to the report.

Cons: Takes a number of times to get used to how the program works.

Overall: It took several uses to learn the program but once I learned the ins and outs, it was easy. Being able to download receipts from my phone helps out a lot. So now I don't forget about a business expense because I cannot find the receipt.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't give up and try different things before calling the customer service. I find I will remember how for the next time if I try to do it myself.

Pros: My most liked feature of Certify is mobile application. It is a very handy when you need to upload receipts. It automatically extracts data from receipt photos and saves me from extra effort. It recognizes receipt data and fills required fields automatically. I enjoy this feature.

Cons: What I don't like about Certify it is lack of some features. In the next versions of Certify Travel & Expense Management I would like to see online invoicing feature.

Overall: Overall Despite lack of features for time saving ability I prefer Certify and it seems that I will continue using it.

Pros: Used to complete my expense reports by filling out a form and mailing in physical reciepts from traveling. Now with Certify, you just take a picture and the software will fill out the rest. Creating an expense report is now so easy and there is no need to hold on to physical copies of reciepts on a picture is taken and uploaded onto the platform.

Cons: The only issues with the software is that the auto-fill feature does not always work well, so have to make sure and double check all information is correct.

Overall: Makes creating expense reports so much easier.

Comments: It's not the best, but it's not horrible either.

The mobile app works well. Auto-expenses are not reliable though. Rarely gets 'auto-fill' correct and most of the time have to manually enter everything (no big deal, still a time saver).

Web app, however, has a serious problem: linking uploaded receipts to existing expenses. If I create a new expense, upload a .pdf receipt (scanned in image of phone bill for example) and then try to link the two...it invariably creates havoc. Looks fine on my end, but as soon as I submit it for approval the links get broken (no joke, the expense shows receipts from a few months ago or other random flakiness). This, of course, results in more time to fix things. Which, as a field guy, means more time waiting to get paid.

I have a work around for that but it's still a bug...and it was annoying ;>).

The other thing I don't like about Certify: reimbursement. Yes, they do direct deposit into bank account. That's nice.

However....and this is where I have an issue...they say 'up to 5 business days'. Skip the 'up to' bit. It is 5 business days on the button every single time. So, for example...if our manager doesn't get around to approving the expenses for whatever reason...there could be (and is) a significantly delay in payment (keep in mind, business days...weekends don't count). The odd bit is Certify takes the money out as soon as approval is submitted...but takes 5 business days to pay out. Sorry, it should be a simple take -> pay process. Not take -> hold -> pay. There clearly is inefficiency somewhere on there side.

Our office manager could do a transfer that day (takes all of two minutes).

Overall, I am sure the bean counters like it. But as a field guy...I am not thoroughly impressed. Some flakiness in the software, the delays involved in reimbursement, and so on. Really hasn't made my life easier. There are much better apps out there for expense management.

They make it easy.

Pros: Coming from a hard reciept expense method, Certify is a great way to digitally submit and keep track of all business expenses. Take a picture of the reciept and the program will autofill the date, amount, ect quickly and easily.

Cons: The autofill could be quicker and more accurate - certain types of reciepts cause trouble to the program.

Pros: It used to take me 45-60 minutes to organize and enter all of the receipts for a monthly expense report. Certify has turned that into a 15 minute upload, since I now have all receipts synced through my mobile phone.

Cons: I can honestly say that we have had few complaints from our user community that were brought onto the software. Even the legacy employees have embraced this new technology and thankful for the ease of automation.

Overall: Ease of capture expense receipts on a mobile device and time savings with processing monthly expenses

Pros: I loved being able to snap a photo of my receipts while traveling. Certify even reads the receipts and helps to fill in the blanks for your Travel & Expense report as well. I found it overall easy to use. I had used spreadsheets and Concur to track travel and expense at previous companies and this was a big improvement.

Cons: It didn't have as many options and features as Concur offered and the feature that read the receipts to fill in the report wasn't always intuitive and didn't get the information right as often as I would have liked. Also, the overall look and feel of the software is a little outdated, in my opinion.

Overall: Overall great experience. Would recommend.

Comments: In the long run this will definitely pay for itself in production hours as well as copying and postage expense. This has also streamlined our process.

Pros: The mobile app is the best part. The screens are user friendly and easy to follow. The customer service team during implementation was great. We had a template issue with our software and they were able to make it all work once we provided the correct template.

Cons: We received a bill starting from the time we signed the contract. We weren't even through implementation for another 30 days so we weren't using the product yet. We had to dispute the charge to get a grace period while our employees were getting setup in the system.

Pros: That I can either use my phone app or my computer. The ease of it when I need to make changes due to my job. I float so my schedule can be different on a daily basis not knowing when people call out.

Cons: I have no complaints regarding the software. It is simple and easy to use. It's quick and I have not had any issues with it.

Overall: I liked the fact that it is green so I don't have to fill out a form and make a copy then submit it to be approved. I also receive emails letting me know how it is progressing.

Pros: 1. Sync feature

2. Itemize one huge bill to multiple separate expenses, and able to add receipts for each individual expense.

Cons: The App can be confusing to use initially, but once you get to know the features, it is easy and convenient.

Overall: It is very convenient to use the Certify App as well as the website. The sync feature to sync the pictures of receipts to the relevant expense is really neat.

Comments: The visual appearance and arrangement of the web page are sufficient and clean.

ONLINE versus SPREADSHEET. Sometimes, travel to locations, such as foreign worksites, where there is slow or intermittent access to the internet sometimes results in difficulty syncing expenses and receipts. On those trips, most employees keep a separate Excel spreadsheet or handwritten diary of day-to-day expenses until they get home. When they get home, they spend hours or days converting their spreadsheet to Certify. Some employees reported losing receipts while connected to Wi-Fi in remote areas even after the mobile app reported a satisfactory sync and the receipt is gone from the mobile device.

STATUS BOX RECALL. If no changes have been made to an expense, it would be helpful if the Status Box would recall the previous status after an Expense Report has been returned for re-approval. The Status box is not remembered between approvals. The result is all previously approved expenses have to be re-examined and re-approved, even if no changes have been made to the expense. Large expense reports that get revised can require a lot of time to re-review.

IMAGE FULL-VIEW SYNCING. A full-view image of the receipt in a separate window is available but loses sync with the original window after a receipt image is selected for View Full in one window and subsequently any other views are selected on the expense report window. For example, with receipt A in full view in one window, if the expense report view is changed from Normal, Compact, Detailed, or Full, the full receipt image no longer updates to show subsequent receipt B, C, and so on, automatically.

Some employees report that occasionally receipts or expenses linger for days even after being deleted and synced.

Pros: Ease of use for staff entry and management approvals. This saves time for all involved in the process prior to final submission of the Human resources Department.

Cons: Connection with receipts is cumbersome requiring other media involvement such as scanning or photo software and/or mobile phones.
