It i solid, fast and fun to use. I would recommend it especially for thos with little retrospective experience who would like to get sustainable results. Pros While Parabol is helping with continuity on Team progress you are not forced into fixed team structures and can do project group retrospectives as well. Invitation is possible via link. The retrospectives follow a process that helps with moderating and focussing only on what is important right now. The action items are linked to the discussion cards and not stand alone. You have many different retrospective formats and can also setup your own. Cards can be easily grouped and ungrouped and moved between the columns. The voting amount can be customized and there is a built in timer. When in the discussion phase card or cluster is highlighted. People can join a retro even if it has started. In the end every team member gets a nice summary via e-mail. Cons Sometimes a member gets disconnected from the session and has to refresh. You have to reregister for every single team you should be in. It would be nicer to have a user pool from which you can move people in different teams and retros like in senseitool. Something like a Sprintscore or happyness metric would be nice. While is the voting stage the moderator cannot see who has still votes left. Pros Super easy to pick up and use as we used this tool to introduce a standard across the organization for managing retrospectives for all of our projects. It has now become a standard across the organization for client and internal projects Cons The inability to export the tasks from retrospectives into our Jira instance or a way to import them into our Jira instead of using the board in Parabol. I love that you can have the whole history of a team in one single tool, avoiding unnecessary documentation. You can create action actions in the same meeting, tag people affected and later follow up with that tasks list. I also really like the templates available for retrospectives and that you also can create your own templates, even make a copy of the ones there and adapt it to our needs. The icebreaker question is amazing, it helps to set the mood before going into reflection mode. I've use it quite often. The feature for the estimating tasks is also great and works great with JIRA integration, it even adjusts the Story points in JIRA when you change them in the tool, really helpful! Again, avoids double and manual work. I highly recommend this tool, it works perfectly with fully remote, mixed set up or even when having a retrospective in person, but as a support tool to document what was discussed. Cons Something to improve would be to have more templates, as the options list is quite limited. Maybe as well to be able to remove the facilitator's votes, as you don't always need to vote, depending on the type of session you are. Review Source VR Verified Reviewer Business Analyst Information Technology and Services Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Fund and easy tool for Agile and Scrum activities" May 31, 2021 5.0 Pros My team and I use Parabol for sprint planning poker and retro sessions, and it has become everyone's favorite. It is very easy to get started, adding new members works through a direct link invite so new team members are in withing seconds. The planning poker is well designed, shows who's cast their votes, and the history of the final decisions is saved in the tool. Grooming flow is easy, fun and collaborative, as well as anonimous (even though this last part hasn't been necessary for our team). There are steps you go through: first add cards with topics for discussion, then group them into categories by similar topic, and then vote which category you want to discuss most. The number of votes to be cast is customizable, so you can be flexible for different group sizes and the scale of the project. Retro notes are saved in the tool as well so you can go back and review. Cons It looks like the numbering for a type of meeting (Sprint Poker) is messed up a little, I can see two events like that with #1, but I am not entirely sure this isn't some setting I haven't noticed. Scrum Master Retail Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Is not only for retrospectives" June 6, 2020 5.0 Looking for a restrospective tool I found in Parabol a complete tool easy to use that resolved, not only my original needs, also allowed us it for brainstorming sessions and other meetings activities with many people on distributed and also at local teams. Pros There are a couple of features very usefull like -kanban dashboard for tracking activities defined in previous sessions - The chance of writting reflections and comments at anonimous mode (That was very helpfully with local teams where the people don´t want to be exposed) - Dot colors for card to identify the columns is a great insight The best feature I like is the posibility of having openeded the "reflect stage" during a long time (weeks) and keep everything documented.That allowed us to have sessions on "asincronic" mode and have more time to prepare and share ideas and continue the retrospective (or activity) in many sessions or stages. Cons There are some simples ideas that could be great to add to the tool. For ie - At the kanban dashboard, the task tracked could have the name where they were grouped (during the grouping stage) - Allow to asign to more than one person or to all (in case the task is for all) Reason for choosing Parabol Easy to use The user experience it's similar to a real restrospective. Pros We discovered Parabol and We used until now. Our teams uses Parabol in their retrospectives and loved this product. The resume y very usefull. I totally recomend it. He has been super patient with me and my team as we figure out our direction with Parabol. Pros Parabol has given me a way to host Retrospectives with my team while we have been remote Cons As a host of a meeting, I can't see when my team is ready for the next phase. What I liked about it is that it provided the option to anonymously post feedback, anonymously vote and still give an option to discuss these elements in later phases of the workflow bearing in mind it connects all of this together in a single solution.
