Pros It is great value for money: our team gets a flexible and powerful Gantt management system, easy to use and elegant to visualise. We get all that we need in one place, have not experienced any downtime or difficulty in using it day in, day out. One time the strg z option menu had a bug where it didnt disappear after making changes, and then it didnt work for some elements, but for others wich caused some troubles, but after reloading the page it did disappear. had to repair some parts of the gantt tho Pros Good Export possibilities (With PDF and the Snapshots). I would like to mark a section as milestone, or at least connect a mileston to a section, so its clear everything in this section is part and needed for the milestone. Moreover a higlighting of milestones in the minimap would be useful for navigation. Or, a fixed line on top where e.g. milestones are shown always. - I loose orientation when zooming in, but I cant zoom outwards enough. I ended up using the browsers implementation of zoom (luckily i have good aim :) - Moreover, there is no option without paying, but paid prices are to high for cashual/private persons. Pros I like the gantt chart user interface and its design styles which is well maintained with its great user experience. Cons Log in behavior is seems to be having some defects. When I'm already logged in and after about a day or 2, once I try to visit the gantt chart by my recent links it shows me this browser alert "An error has ocurred connecting to our servers. Please login again or try clearing your cookies". Then even if I try to enter "https://app.instagantt.com", it redirects me to "https://app.instagantt.com/r" and shows the above mentioned same alert. Seems like for me, there's no way than clearing the site cookies to overcome this. I am trying to get approval from my procurement team. However, a lot of non-technical users get overwhelmed by it at first. Personally, I want better portfolio and 'big-picture' features connecting each project together. I use the 'all projects' master gantt view more than anything else. Pros Simplicity and compact nature of data presentation. However, I want a better workload UI and a much better dashboard UI. Overall, the ideas a good, but the execution feels rough and without polish. For example, the member and admin aspects are extremely dated and not user friendly. Cons Lack of UI polish. Lots of menus feel very dated. Several spelling errors and poor English grammar (I would suggest hiring a English copy editor to ensure UI text is consistent throughout). I could imagine that "hardcore" task oriented users might have different opinion but for a midsize engineering company for project planning/visualization it works very well. Another idea would be the integration into MS Teams and connect it to the TO-DO of teams. Microsoft has MS project which is horrible to use and not interactive/integrated at all. More and more companies transfer to a full Microsoft integration and a proper Gantt Chart app is missing. Pros Since we were looking for a Gantt Chart App that is easy to incorporate into ASANA and vizualizing Project Schedules we are very happy with the functionality of InstaGantt. In the AEC world it is more about project planning for phases rather than individual task assignments and tracking. We like the free version of it since with the max. of 3 project this is very sufficient for us. Cons Sometimes laggy if you try redoing some steps. So glad I stumbled across this on google! Pros The visual aspect of instagantt is great. Being able to see the task, dates, duration, and gantt in all one view. This is the only web based tool right now that has this feature on point. Asana does not have this and its hard to export and show to management if need be. The only other tool I am able to make this work and look comprehensive is excel...so great job! Cons This is minor and have not used all the features yet but being able to modify how big the font/font color in the gantt chart view would be nice. But then it means that I have milestones separated from the tasks needed to achieve them... Maybe.... a "milestones only" view would solve the problem, and remove all the nitty gritty that people don't have time to look at. That could be an idea actually...! Pros I load Asana project onto Instagantt, from back when Asana did not have a timeline feature. I keep preferring Instagantt even now: it has a more detailed and professional feel, I can zoom out and have a bird's eye view on very complex projects (200+ tasks)..which is why I take time building out ganttcharts (don't need them for simple proejcts..) Cons It has a few bugs and sometimes is a bit finicky. The dependencies for example, they do not always work well and I still don't seem to have understood how tasks will react to change if they are dependent or have dependants. The view is not always very easy to read, and I sometimes need to scroll up to actually check a task against the date bar on top, to see when it's actually starting/ending (Yes, I could use the start/end date on the left, but I don't want to, since I am using a gantt chart I want to just look at the gantt chart). Making the vertical lines thicker or blacker could help. Or replicating the date bar at the bottom too. Another small thing, being asked all the time if I want to order tasks by date is annoying. Fine to get a reminder as a new user, but after 4 years I know where to click to get that. Finally, I don't have specific ideas to propose, but working on improving the visualization tools to get the full picture and share with others would be great. I spend a lot of time on instagantt as part of my role and it helps me a ton, but whenever I share with the rest of the team, they hardly ever take the time to look at the whole thing and try and understand,... it just looks too daunting to them ! So in the past I used to create a second instagantt project and call it "project X - high level", keeping it simple for sharing purposes. Very nice to see all projects in one view for resource planning. Cons If you don't have a paid subscription but you have features that require it, you get stuck and can't get your account back to free level without going on subscription again, which is a weird bug. Resource planning in wonky. I wish we could make templates at the admin level so we don't risk losing our template project to a mistake by staff. You can't delete projects for good (why not?). If it was more suited for my industry, I believe more people would use it. It is buggy and I have to reload the page more times than I would like, but what you have created is critical to what I do. It is amazing. I think there is a bunch of work that could be done to help instagantt stand on its own, at least in my industry. I would love to chat more about that if you have 30 minutes. Pros Seeing our entire post production slate for is incredibly powerful when needing to make quick decisions on the fly. I can see a huge amount of data with a fair amount of ease. Cons Legibility. One of the biggest problems I have is being able to translate the gantt into a customer friendly version. When exporting snapshots, I would like the ability to just show specific data points. Instagantt is great to plan the backend, but when I need to send the plan to a customer, it is too cumbersome. Another BIG issue I have is figuring out where one project starts and ends, due to the title of the project being as small as any column/section made in Asana. If the titles of projects were slightly bigger or bolder, I would spend less time trying to see where I need to pop something open with the plus button or not. Development PM Real Estate Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Almost Perfect" July 2, 2020 4.0 Very effective management tool, but lacks some of the valuable tools that other programming software has. specifically locking a task and it actually locking. currently the lock doesnt work and other users can still move dates due to dependancy tasks. Linked tasks cannot be moved without affecting the other tasks. It would be more valuable to move the task, flag a conflict, and allow the user to decide what task to adjust to remove the conflict. Pros We use the software to effectively manage our entire project, for task tracking and workload review, accountability, forecasting and cashflows. It is very effective to have employees justify and confirm what they are doing, how it is progressing, with evidence. The ability to cut through what tasks employees are actually progressing, and what they only say they are, is very valuable from a management perspective. Instagantt is used to facilitate management reporting to our \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\]. Cons Whilst Instangantt can be used to open a task in Asana, we are unable to use Asana to open a task in Instagantt.
