Our main goal was to find an MFA solution that could run on-premises, and Protectimus was a great match. The installation process was simple, and the support team was quick to respond and very helpful. It’s user-friendly and helps us feel secure about our VPN. Cons Some parts of the setup instructions are not very user-friendly. Sometimes, support is required. This adds extra time to the initial deployment. Pros We've been using Protectimus for a few months now to access our Outlook Web App (OWA). We rely on hardware Protectimus Flex tokens for one-time passwords, and I haven't encountered any problems with either the token or the login process. These tokens consistently generate the necessary one-time passwords, ensuring reliable access to our email. They're practical, too, as they're compact keyfobs that can be attached to a keychain. Cons I don't have any complaints, but it would be nice if the administrators could offer us a choice in how we generate one-time codes. Personally, I prefer using an authenticator app over a hardware token, although I must admit the tokens do work well. As a web designer myself, I can see how many user-friendly features they've added, such as the ability to sort tokens into folders and even add emojis—I truly appreciate their efforts. However, the best part is that I can now easily switch phones without worrying about losing my tokens. Cons The previous version of the authenticator lacked backup and token transfer features, so I'm pleased that the update has been released. I've found the Protectimus SMART two-factor authentication app to be extremely useful and cute, especially because of its cloud backup feature. Pros I use the Protectimus SMART two-factor authentication app, and I appreciate its cloud backup feature, which ensures that I won't lose access to all my accounts if I misplace my phone. Additionally, I'm fond of the design and the ability to add an emoji for each token – that's a cute touch! Cons When I attempted to add the token manually, something went wrong. However, the support team guided me to uncheck a certain default button, and after doing so, I was able to successfully add the token. I believe this button shouldn't be active by default. Moreover, the latest release of the Protectimus app includes a convenient cloud backup feature. Cons I was initially concerned about the absence of backup features for Windows two-factor authentication software and the 2FA app. However, Protectimus later released updates with backups, resolving my worries. Having secure hardware tokens is the only way we can keep MFA enabled for 100% of our users base without disrupting their work. Pros Setting up the devices as an Admin was very simple. We imported a CSV into Azure AD and associated the tokens with the accounts then shipped the tokens directly to the users, they did not have to do anything except start using their tokens, no complicated setup. Cons It would be nice if we could associated tokens to users during purchase and they would ship directly. Being 100% remote we try and do as much 0 touch deployments as possible, but setup was still very easy.
