“Little did I know, Elavon had a separate account and were charging us $99.99 monthly under the generic description, "Merchant Fees" which I didn't catch for quite some time. When I finally found out it was Elavon over a year later, I called for a refund, was hung up on several times and was refused a refund despite never receiving a single notice by mail, email, call or text about my "contract" or bill. “

### "Small Business Processing "

Overall, the experience was positive for our catering company. Being able to pass the processing fee on to the guest was a big plus and gave us more flexibility when pricing custom events. The system worked well for our needs and supported our event-based payment flow.

Pros

Transactions went through smoothly during events, payouts were dependable, and there were very few interruptions or surprises. The reporting was straightforward enough to track deposits and reconcile sales without extra headaches, which is especially important when running events in different locations. Overall, it felt stable and predictable—exactly what you want when processing payments in a fast-paced catering environment.

Cons

What I liked least was the limited transparency and flexibility. Fees and adjustments weren’t always as clear as they could be, and resolving issues or making changes often required going through support rather than being able to self-manage easily. For a mobile, event-based business, the system felt more rigid than ideal.

It is an very user friendly platform with multiple reports and the ability to choose when the days transactions are processed.

Pros

Elavon is easy to use. From running reports each day to adding tips to tickets and to vertual charge when credit card not present. The customer support is also very good - responds quickly and sends email notifications if there are issues. They are also a great value - a lot cheaper that competition

Cons

dispute management could be better. hard to see if there is a chargeback and have to respond very quickly. Not able to dispute an American Express charge directly through them - have to go through American Express.

### "Crowded market of card payments"

Not good. I had too many issues as I am not processing retail transactions. It was not easy to sync up my backend client names.

Pros

It was available through Costco for a one year trial. I trust Costco and expected it is fully vetted out.

Cons

It had a bumpy start. Took a while to connect to my phone and get ready to swipe. At times it did not work in first attempt.

### "\*Warning - brutal company to deal with"

Absolutely terrible experience in every sense of the word. The person we dealt with lied about what was happening and why and there was no effort or follow up.

Pros

I found no positives in dealing with Elavon. Nothing they told us that was supposed to happen actually happened as they said it would.

Cons

Everything seemed to be going smoothly processing credit card through the online system until we reached a transaction limit we were unaware we had. We were thne told that they would be holding transactions for 60 days. These are transactions for regular customers we've been doing business with for years. The credit card transactions were processed on Oct. 27th for over $8000 and we still have not received our funds. We also cancelled our accounts in November and were still charged fees in December "in error" on their part, which we will not be getting back. Nothing that they've told us so far that was supposed to happen, has happened. Extremely unreliable and in my opinion shady. I highly recommend choosing a different company to deal with.

Elevon is integrated in our EHR. It has allowed us to seamlessly collect payments from our patients at a place that's comfortable to them. Meaning I can send a text, phone call and we have a patient portal all connected to Elavon. Our patients can pay whenever and wherever making collections for us easier.

Pros

Its ease of use to me sets Elavon apart.

Cons

Chargeback fees would be the one thing I am not a fan of from Elavon

### "Wait until it's time for compliance renewal "

Oh my word....as others have mentioned PCI compliance. Despite completing through the web portal and been told it's complete, you get inundated with emails and telephone calls. When you have two businesses it's frustrating and time consuming. Due to the poor customer service I cancelled the accounts with one caller, but still recieving emails. I have tried to complain, but they have stated they can't find my account details from my name and address. The card terminals have been returned and they state they need info from these. Despite not been able to find my details they have still attempted to take £100 from my bank account today, so would appear they still hold information clearly breaching UK GDPR legislation. Two reviews have elicited please send us your details responses, which have been forwarded. But guess what they can't find the accounts.....

Initially transaction were process same day

Cons

Poor customer service breach of UK GDPR legislation

terrible, just terrible. trying to get the terminal back to them has also been a bit of a run-around. Are we sure this is not a scam company?

Pros

It was going to be cheaper than Moneris by a significant amount.

Cons

We were auto approved and sent the machine and using it for 2 weeks until the underwriting department stated we didn't provide enough documentation and cancelled our account. This even though we submitted additional documentation they still cancelled the account with no notice and we had already sent Moneris POS terminal back. luckily Moneris was only 2 days from getting a POS terminal back to us.

My overall experience with Elavon was positive. Smooth transactions and quick remittances delivered.

Pros

Elavon has a strong reputation in payment processing, and I liked the company's focus on innovation and customer-centric solutions.

Cons

The only real con for Elavon would be to improve communication for customer support. At times, there were situations that made multistep payments more challenging than it really needed to be if there were options for quicker customer support.

Overall, I believe it's a sound system; the cybersecurity is good, and the ability to track payments and refunds is excellent. the system works and it works very well.

Pros

I appreciate the ability to filter and be more direct when searching for information. It is also very easy for you, and managing payments is a breeze.

Cons

I dislike that it takes a very long time to resolve disputes. You get on the phone, and you are bounced around too many times.

Horrible in a word. They have a payment network but only use it if a 3rd party is piggybacking the network as you find yourself driven mad by their systems. Truly horrible experience

Pros

Not really that much. If im honest ive never hqd a gjjd experience

Cons

Clunky and extremely user unfriendly. I found the constant requests for security verification highly annoying and unnecessary. It literally drove me mad as the user dashboard never seemed to work

Pros

Originally, it was the price for their service. But did not know they were unethical.

Cons

The most unethical company to deal with. Literally stole money from a small merchant and have bullied them since and refuses to give it back.

The best part is the way I take payments all end up in a centralized reporting system so I can have a customer paying online and another in-person without the headache of data all over the place.

Cons

I’ve had instances when it’s taken awhile to get a customer service rep on the phone to help.

Used Elavon through a hotel reservation system; was secure and processed credit card transactions well. However when it came to using the admin portal it was not the most user friendly for finding reports.

Pros

Nothing. These guys are frauds. I want my refund. You kept charging my account months after i requested to cancel. I dont like anything about them

Cons

I had cancelled my account with these guys, yet they kept charging me. I called every month asking to return their terminals, they said they sent boxes. I didnt get any box until 2 months later after so many phone calls. Very terrible customer service. Their customer service is very dismissive and rude. Wouldnt even let you finish a sentence before cutting you off. I purchased a terminal from Falcon POS, The terminal was made by godaddy Poynt, processed by Elavon and my account was hosted with Design destrict?? A phone number that cannot be reached no matter how many times you call. What kind of business is this?? Run away when you hear elavon or any of the names i mentioned above. They are all frauds!!

### "Cheap system"

The fact that transactions can receive an approval from the credit card company at the time of purchase but not actually be paid to the merchant is a serious problem. I gave my client a receipt from the Elavon system clearly showing it was approved but days later received a phone call from Elavon to tell me we (the merchant) is not getting paid. Elavon is holding onto the money for a minimum of 90 days. Now I have to spend hours going back and forth with the Elavon rep (who has been very kind) to prove the legitimacy of the transaction when the system simply should have declined the transaction at the time of purchase. If a transaction appears to be fraudulent it should not be approved at the time of purchase.

Pros

It was the cheapest system I could find that would work in the currency we need. You get what you pay for.

Cons

Set up was more complicated than it needed to be, the online Converge system is not intuitive, and getting account statements is a hassle because it's an entirely different login. My biggest complaint is that the system will approve transactions with the credit card company but Elavon will deny payment to the merchant. Then it's a nightmare trying to get paid by Elavon. The delay creates numerous other bookkeeping and accounting issues.

Reason for choosing Elavon

We needed to use a foreign currency for processing transactions and Elavon has the capability to do that.

### "Horrible customer service and set up"

Pros

Nothing the service service was horrible. Calling to customer service to get assistance was horrible. Only to find out that there was another company processing the payment. I reached out numerous times only to be told I will be sent an email and I finally reached out to the account manager or at least who I thought was the account manager \[sensitive content hidden\] . It could be \[sensitive content hidden\] with a K however the service that she provided was horrible to say the least by saying I had no business knowing her name or who she even was because she didn’t service my terminal that is no way to speak to about a customer.

Cons

recently received a payment processing terminal and have reached out numerous times, but today I found out I was reaching the wrong company however, the rudeness that I experienced when reaching out just to get information made me determine from this company. Overall, I reached out in hopes of speaking with whom I was told was my account manager whose name is \[sensitive content hidden\] I in turn, was told that the representative reached out to \[sensitive content hidden\] , and also someone’s whose name started with the letter J, maybe \[sensitive content hidden\] upon her reaching out to escalate the situation she was told that I should not be contacting this individual neither should I know her name as if she’s some person that I am after I only want information and this was very rude to even have this information relayed to a customer horrible customer service and you should be ashamed of even having someone say that to a customer horrible, horrible stay away from Elavon.

### "Something to be said for longevity "

The fees can be frustrating, and trying to determine how much will be taken out of a given transaction is difficult. That being said, in order to operate at all in this field, you must be able to accept a wide range of payments. There is no way to avoid this operating cost, so we've made the decision to use Elavon as our main payment processor. The extra costs are mitigated by the trust our customers have in us knowing we use a reputable and secure payment processor. I wish there was a way to operate where that big of a percentage of each transaction did not have to be sent to a third party in order to verify availability of funds immediately. With no real hope for that to turn into a reality, we will continue to send 2-3% of each swipe to Elavon.

Pros

Elavon is nearly synonymous with payment processing. Their name represents a company with a reputation for taking its clients' businesses very seriously. Much of what we bring in to cover operating expenses are in the form of donations. When donors find out that we utilize Elavon, they feel safer when deciding whether to donate.

Cons

You pay an increased price for Elavon when compared to other POS payment processors. While we love the services Elavon provides, we also have to consider if the increased security is worth the increased costs. To defray the costs, we have begun using other processors for specific tasks.

Reason for choosing Elavon

Elavon had the longest history and best reputation.

I didn't like it. I found it difficult to use and complicated compared to others.

Pros

The USA based personal support person I was assigned as a go between. He fid basically handle any questions or issues but the POS system wasn't reliable.

Cons

The POS device was high priced compared to most difficult to use and I couldn't depend on it taking the sale. It was hit or miss. Actually so bad that I had to carry an additional backup product.
