I have worked with a broad spectrum of systems, from excel commission statements to Varicent, and I find Sales Cookie has the ease of Excel and the accuracy of Varicent, without all the respective headaches. Pros Cost effective sales commission calculation and reporting platform with easy user interface for administrators and reps. Security was easy and intuitive, and Customer Support was unparalleled. Cons Prebuilt sales analytics not always useful, but product easily plugs into other reporting tools. Potential con for some users might be it's not always straightforward to make plan changes yourself, but in my experience, the customer support team is so helpful and responsive, I can email them what I need and they make it happen for me. I would definitely pull them into another client if given the opportunity and need. Pros For the price, I doubt you could find a more flexible and well supported system for commissions calculations. I received a recommendation from another old colleague of mine who had used and after a brief evaluation I made the recommendation to my client to use the platform. They had a complex calculation which included the integration of data from two or three other systems via their API. Their onboarding team was great, got it implemented in short order (relative to how long others have taken) and the continued support from them were a pleasure to work with and reasonable from a cost perspective. Cons As an accountant, I found the reporting more geared towards the Sales leadership and reps rather than the financial reporting side of things. For example, it wasn't until after we were using the platform for several months that they were able to build in a report that would easily calculate and present the commissions expense and liabilities. An Excel auto-convert feature would be a killer addition to a great solution. Pros I am responsible for calculating sales commissions in my organization. This was taking about 10 hours every week. Even though it's possible to calculate commissions manually AND accurately, the main issue was the constant need for adjustments (ex: a deal did not go through, refund, etc.). As a result, we had to re-issue commissions frequently, and over time it became unmanageable to track everything. Using , we're now able to automate the entire process, but we can still make changes to commissions if needed. There is a very convenient "activity center" in app where we can see all the changes made by anyone to comp plans, commissions, etc. I also like the different roles provided by the application because management of some plans can be delegated so specific managers. Finally our sales team is happy with their online statement. This is much better than before as we had to repeat sending spreadsheets to every rep. Cons I wish they had a way to take any Excel spreadsheet and auto-convert to one of the incentive plans. Pros I didn't do the setup, but as a user, it seems pretty easy to view a breakdown of all commission-influencing revenue & sales by a timeline period. Good breakout detail between various incentive lines (ex. commission vs. bonus). Good detail at the account level, as well. Cons Seems to have a strong dependence on Finance team execution, though that could be on the user end. A more automated option by quarter/month etc. could be a nice touch. Gross commission payouts should be shown in the chart without needing to download the excel file, as it shows most other facts (ex. credit type, sale type, date etc.) - though that could also be user error.
