Pros The software itself when it is working is user friendly and quick to pick up. Queries are easily run and results easy to manipulate once exported Cons There are so many! If you want automated payments you need to pay for a consultant to install that for you and pay for this as an additional. This comes standard with most software. The customer service is abysmal! We have received quotes that were miles off and then once you sign up, you are informed that the cost is twice as much and so we decided to cancel the contract as it was no longer affordable. This lead to retaliation I would say from Unit 4, they no longer assisting with our queries and demanding payment for almost every little task even installing their own licenses!! Their upgrade changed things for my workload and allowed me to be more efficient, timely, and error-free. Their upload process changes how I work with my supervisor's requests for travel expenses. Pros We use Unit4 Financials for our expense reporting. They got a significant upgrade a year or so ago which made dramatic improvements to their app and web functioning. It is now very easy to use the app to take pictures of your expenses and upload them. Since I do expenses for my supervisor who travels A TON, she is able to upload her receipts and add a description. Unless the receipts come in an email, my workload has been significantly cut down. She was sending them to me by mail previously, which made the time on her end and on my financial team longer. The app improvement led to ease across my organization. Cons You have to have someone on your end who is really diligent and skilled in their background processes to run this product on the back end. We have been flooded with errors and downtime when updates come out or when new employees come on board. I have been using it for years so I understand how it works but new employees don't necessarily like the functionality and have seen easier to use products. It is well written and designed and their support in A-1 Cons Some old features like maintaining Hierarchies need updating and may not be needed in today's design. Also the Client Server piece was removed in version 14 and many AP users prefer that to the web and it does have functionality that the web version does not . It has provided efficiencies to our financial reporting process. Pros I love the element structure, and the ability to receive imports from our Insurance system. It gives us the ability to sub-analyze and report in all the ways that are necessary and valuable to our company. Cons We are currently stuck in Version 12. For the past couple of months, we have been attempting to upgrade to Version 14. However, that version of Unit 4 Financials is not compatible with the IBM system we are on. It is concerning that this wasn't thoroughly tested and resolved before release, and the amount of time it is taking to remedy the situation is disappointing. They genuinely seem to care about customer feedback recently, but the last few years, that seemed to go away. Cons I believe that the product is getting very complicated, especially on the back end, and CODA support themselves are having a hard time keeping up with it, particularly in the web version. Also, CODA seems to be charging for everything that is extra outside of the core product. You can create your own reports for virtually any purpose or format. We now do our journal entries at month-end using CODA Excel, and it has saved a good amount of time. Also, CODA is quick to respond to any issues or questions we may have. Cons Most everything works great, but one thing that would be nice to have is the ability to see all error messages when posting a journal entry. We could have a 200 line entry full of errors, but we have to address each one line by line. Being able to see all errors at once would greatly improve productivity when dealing with these kinds of entries.
