### "Powerful Low-Latency Streaming with a Bit of a Learning Curve"

April 22, 2026

4.0

Overall, the experience with Ant Media Server has been solid. It delivers strong performance, especially for low-latency streaming, and once everything is set up correctly, it runs reliably. The platform is flexible enough to support a variety of use cases, which makes it appealing for both small projects and larger deployments. That said, it leans a bit on the technical side. Getting the most out of it requires some familiarity with streaming concepts and server management, so there can be a learning curve early on. But once you’re past that, it becomes a dependable solution that does exactly what it’s supposed to do without much hand-holding. In short, it’s a powerful and capable platform, just one that rewards a bit of patience and technical know-how upfront.

Pros

What stands out most is how simple it is to get up and running. The platform feels reliable once deployed, and the low-latency streaming makes it especially strong for real-time use cases. It also supports multiple streaming protocols, which gives flexibility when integrating with different systems. Scalability is another plus, allowing it to grow alongside your needs, and the available APIs and documentation make customization more approachable.

Cons

One of the main drawbacks is that the more advanced features can be difficult to configure properly, especially if you’re not already familiar with streaming infrastructure. While the basics are straightforward, fine-tuning things like clustering or optimization can feel a bit technical. Documentation, while helpful, isn’t always as detailed or beginner-friendly as it could be, so you may find yourself doing some trial and error or digging through forums. There can also be resource demands depending on your setup. Running high-quality, low-latency streams at scale requires solid server infrastructure, which can increase costs. Lastly, troubleshooting isn’t always as intuitive as you’d hope. When something breaks, pinpointing the issue can take longer than expected without deeper technical knowledge.

### "Scalable, Developer-Friendly Ultra low latency Streaming Solution with Great Value"

February 16, 2026

5.0

Overall, our experience is very positive. Ant Media Server has proven to be stable, scalable, ultra low latency and production-ready for every size of broadcasting scenarios. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Ant Media Server is one of the best products I have worked with. The product quality is excellent, and the performance is consistently reliable. Equally impressive is their support team. highly responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to helping customers succeed. Once you partner with them, they support you throughout the journey and ensure you reach your goals with confidence.

Pros

We used Ant Media Server primarily for mass broadcasting and real-time video streaming use cases, and it has been a solid, reliable solution. The SDKs and APIs are well-designed and easy to integrate into web, desktop (using electron) and mobile applications. Documentation is clear, and implementation is straightforward for me as a developer. WebRTC performance is excellent for real-time broadcasting consider 1-1 call or one to many. Security: Token-based authentication, stream-level security, and access control features are robust and flexible. We were able to integrate it securely within our existing architecture without major customization. Architecture Fit: Ant Media fit seamlessly into our application architecture. We deployed it in a scalable environment and integrated it with our backend services and CDN layer without friction. We have implemented this in the following technologies (Node, react, angular, nextjs, laravel, react native, wordpress). If i talk about learning curve, It is between easy and moderate. If you have prior experience with streaming technologies (RTMP, WebRTC, HLS), onboarding is quite smooth. Even for teams new to WebRTC, the documentation and sample projects make it manageable. I had tried "kurento", "wowza" and some open source media server in my early days. It was really very frustrating to debug issues and get resolved. With Ant Media Server, you need not to worry about streaming issues anymore. Just focus on your business. Now I say: Streaming means Ant media Server. What they are providing is really value for money, For every business use case they have best plans available to subscribe. I tested their 14 days free trial before integrating into my live streaming platform. Plugin development on top of Ant Media Server is very helpful for developers to create some new features and functionality.

Cons

Not exactly a negative, but during initial setup we needed clarification on a few configuration and scaling aspects. However, their support team responded very quickly and provided clear guidance. So while some areas required clarification, support quality compensated for it. I am very impressed with their improvement on auto-scaling setup, In initial times, it was a long process. Now a days it will take max 5-10 minutes for the setup.

### "Exceptional WebRTC performance for real-time AI and video intelligence"

April 16, 2026

5.0

I utilized Ant Media Server to develop a visual logic engine focused on real-time video intelligence. It served as an incredibly reliable backbone for managing WebRTC streams, allowing for fluid, asynchronous integration with AI models like Gemini. The platform delivered exactly the performance and reliability needed for an intensive, high-stakes development sprint, keeping stream latency virtually unnoticeable.

Pros

What I liked most is its ultra-low latency WebRTC streaming capabilities. When building applications that require real-time video intelligence and seamless integration with large language models, low latency is critical. Ant Media Server handled complex, real-time visual logic workflows exceptionally well without bottlenecking the system. The stream stability and ease of integration into a modern tech stack (like TypeScript and React) were outstanding.

Cons

While the core features are excellent, the documentation for highly advanced, edge-case architectural configurations could be slightly more comprehensive. This is especially true when integrating heavily customized multi-agent orchestration directly with the streams. However, the community and core guides are usually enough to figure it out.

### "Reliable and stable streaming solution for long-term use"

April 22, 2026

5.0

It also works really well in combination with YouTube, which is an important part of my workflow. Streaming to YouTube is smooth and stable, and the integration feels seamless. I haven’t experienced issues with connectivity or interruptions, and it handles live broadcasts reliably even for longer sessions.

Pros

I’ve been using Ant Media Server for almost 4 years, and it has consistently been reliable and stable. It works very well for streaming to multiple platforms, and it integrates smoothly into my workflow without interruptions

Cons

There are no real drawbacks worth mentioning. The platform is straightforward and does exactly what I need without any complications. It is easy to use, and everything works smoothly as expected, fitting well into my streaming workflow.

### "Great tool that requires a bit of knowledge and work"

April 22, 2026

4.0

This was one of our options to implement the webrtc and ended up being the one we chose at the end. They offer a good trial if you contact them so you can do testing and do a proof of concept. I also suggest analyzing costs because our managers thought the monthly payment (cheaper option) was some kind of prepayment or value that was added to the final purchase which is not, so if you think you need to test for a few months choose the monthly but if you already know that will use definitely this the license purchase is the best option.

Pros

The service by itself, it's really usefull to generate the real time video transmission that I needed to implement in my application. Also it's easy to do the first installation and use the demo projects that it has. In other words it gives what it offers.

Cons

Having a custom setup is quite complex and buggy. The UI has a lot of options or shows a lot of options but once you change them they are not actually stored, so I had to go to the server to the project files and change some options directly there in a plain text file. Also again it has a lot of options that are too specific for video transmission so I reocommend having some kind of knowledge about that because it is not easily explained.

### "Live Streaming Made Easy - Ant Media Server"

April 30, 2026

5.0

So far I've been using Ant Media Server for about a week and I can't sing its praises enough. It's been everything that I've needed in order to get my project off the ground and aside from missing adaptive bit rate streaming and webRTC, I've found that it has everything I need.

Pros

I like the ease of use when it comes to live streaming. Setup was a breeze and I was able to get everything initially up and running within a few hours.

Cons

The only thing I don't like about Ant Media Server is that adaptive bit rate streaming and webRTC is locked behind an enterprise license. Seeing that some customers are running the community edition on their own hardware, I feel that this should be included due to running the service on their own hardware vs a hosting provider's servers.

Pros

What impressed me most about Ant Media Server was the seamless setup and ultra-low latency. We were able to go live within just two minutes of deployment. Additionally, their well-documented APIs made backend integration effortless, and the support team has been consistently prompt and helpful.

Cons

There's not much to dislike about it. Overall a decent product and team. I wish a good luck in their future journey.

### "Quick and easy installation using "Scale AMS with AWS CloudFormation" documentation"

April 22, 2026

4.0

Quick and easy to install for most users but there are some use cases that will require some additional configuration after the fact. The documentation and provided CloudFormation template got us 90-95% of the way to our use case. The Route53 and load balancer sections did not cover what we wanted to do.

Pros

The template installation provided a form to fill out where I provided the various information (stack name, min/max number of instances of each type, size of the EC2 instances, networks, etc). The automated install was fairly quick (somewhere between five and ten minutes IIRC).

Cons

We wanted to use a single hostname for the application portal as well as RTMP and SRT streaming. The documentation did not explain how to do that and the provided template does not support it.

### "Reliable, Flexible, and Backed by Excellent Support"

November 25, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with Ant Media Server has been very positive. After five years of working with it, I’ve found it to be a stable, capable, and evolving platform that supports both straightforward streaming and advanced use cases. The combination of strong performance, extensibility through plugins, and outstanding support makes it a dependable solution for production environments. I’ve watched the product improve steadily over time, and it continues to deliver exactly what I need.

Pros

What I like most about Ant Media Server is its reliability and flexibility, especially after using it for around five years. The platform is powerful out of the box, supports low-latency streaming extremely well, and the plugin system makes it easy to extend functionality with community tools or custom additions. The ability to integrate things I find online or develop myself adds huge value. Their support team is consistently fast, friendly, and genuinely helpful, which makes the entire experience even better.

Cons

The part I like least about Ant Media Server is that certain updates or configuration changes can sometimes feel a bit sensitive, requiring careful review of documentation to avoid issues. While the platform is feature-rich, some areas—especially advanced configurations—could benefit from more streamlined guides or built-in safeguards. It’s not a big drawback, but it can add extra time when working on complex setups.

### "Solid RTMP ingest with good features; docs & scaling Memory management could improve"

October 27, 2025

5.0

We use Ant Media Server primarily to take RTMP camera feeds, transcode, and deliver them as HLS for viewers and low-latency previews for operators. Once configured, it’s been solid and cost-effective compared to building the same pipeline ourselves.

Pros

Reliable RTMP ingest from our IP cameras/encoders; streams stay stable for weeks. Easy to transcode to HLS. The dashboard makes basic setup straightforward, and the REST API gives us enough hooks to automate publishing/stop/start.

Cons

When the Ant Media origin loses connection to the cluster MongoDB, memory usage surges abruptly and can force a server restart

I'm the partner of AMS, and I build the applications for AMS, such as CamOS, AntStudio, CloudyTV, and RealGIS. MY experience is good with AMS, and I joined some AMS Hackathons to build them.

Pros

AMS provides the open source for developing a unique advantage application for your enterprise. You can join their hackathon to promote your apps

Cons

I think that is the license fee if your enterprise runs on multiple instances, such as Cloud camera, OTT services

### "Great product and support"

January 23, 2026

5.0

Pros

AntMedia is handling our streaming services exceptionally well. A big shoutout to their support team, who have provided outstanding assistance, even on weekends, helping us keep our services running smoothly and without disruption. Their responsiveness and expertise have been invaluable in maintaining a reliable streaming experience.

Cons

One limitation we noticed is that even with a high-performance VM, a single AntMedia server can become unstable or exhibit unexpected behavior when handling over 500 connected feeds. For larger-scale workloads, deploying a clustered setup is essential to maintain stability and performance.

5.0

We have been using their product for around five years, and we are satisfied with the service and the product itself. There were a few times that we considered migrating to other tools, but eventually, we didn't find a big difference in the change.

Pros

Value for money and customer support are the most important points about AMS. We are using the enterprise version.

Cons

It takes a long time until we get a fix for the reported bugs, however, their support team is very friendly, and they are always open to discussion.

### "Good platform, great customer support"

November 27, 2025

5.0

We have been using the self-hosted version for over a year now and so far our experiences have been very positive. We haven't really had to push the system yet as we're still in R&D phase, but so far it's done everything we've needed it to do and customer support has been very responsive.

Pros

Great customer support, fairly easy to deploy event the self-hosted version and good value for money.

Cons

We use webhooks for authorizing live streaming requests and would ideally like to use the same approach for authorizing the playback of previously stored videos (VoD). However, webhooks are not supported at the moment for this purpose, so we needed to create a custom solution for this as using a JWT Stream Security Filter was not an option for us.

5.0

Great for developers, small teams, or hobbyists needing a solid self-hosted streaming server without cost. Lacks advanced features of Enterprise, but perfect for standard streaming use. Highly recommended as a starting point.

Pros

Free, self-hosted, and extremely cost-effective. Stable and easy to set up. Supports multiple protocols (WebRTC, RTMP, HLS, RTSP) and includes useful APIs.

Cons

No Adaptive Bitrate, no clustering, and latency capped at 8–12 seconds. Documentation and UI could be more polished. Upgrading requires manual work, not via dashboard.

### "Great for WebRTC Testing and Client-Server Synchronization"

April 22, 2026

5.0

I mainly used Ant Media Server for testing purposes and to handle client-server synchronization in a real-time streaming setup. It worked well for experimenting with WebRTC connections, data channels, and stream handling between client and server. The server provides a solid base for understanding how real-time communication flows, especially when testing signaling, stream start/stop events, and data transfer. It was useful for prototyping and validating ideas before moving into production-level architecture.

Pros

Good for testing WebRTC flows and real-time communication Useful for client-server synchronization experiments

Pros

Ant Media Server was a great experience to use, extremely easy to set up, and get going quickly. Does exactly what it promises. Never had any issues, “it just works”.

Cons

Sometimes, when you want to go “off-piste”, customise certain settings, you are left “in the dark”, you have to manually go adjust config files. Not everything is included in the GUI, but these are very niche and specific features (e.g. RTMP executor pool size).
