### "Forget WordPress!"

May 10, 2020

5.0

We managed to build a multi-language e-commerce store in about 3 months using Statamic. We only had to install a couple of plugins and we can deploy the exact version of the site to production without having to fiddle around with a database.

Pros

Statamic is elegantly built and thoughtfully considered. Much of what you need is possible in the UI, but working with the code is also great because it’s well written and built on Laravel. Statamic has genuinely changed my mind towards Content Management Systems - they can be fun and fast. In contrast to others that I’ve used, Statamic is clean and powerful. It has great documentation and is easy to use and build on top of.

Cons

Because version 2 (the current stable release as of this writing) is a few years old now, there are some problems in keeping it up to date with the latest dependencies. The next version which is close to being ready for general release (v3) looks to solve these issues and more whilst adding loads of new features, so overall I’m not concerned.

Reason for choosing Statamic

It doesn’t require a database. It was easier to get going. It was also cheaper. And being built on Laravel, it aligned better with our existing tech stack, making the tools very familiar.

### "Perfect replacement for WordPress in an enterprise environment"

February 7, 2020

5.0

We moved to Statamic after the recent changes to WordPress' direction made it clear it was longer suitable for enterprise websites, like ours. As a development team embedded in the group marketing and communication teams, we are dealing with 10+ websites that receive a lot of content changes. The content often falls out of sync between the development sites and the live site. This can result in a lot of headaches when it comes to bringing the new changes into the sites when they are approved for deployment. When we were using WordPress, because of its blog-focused database structure, any changes made often had to be replicated manually. By switching to flat file content management, this issue was eradicated. Before changes are deployed, the latest content is brought into the development branches. Content and new changes are all deployed at the same time through zero-downtime deployment. Feedback from both the development and content teams has been exceptional.

Pros

– Built on Laravel, giving us access to the Laravel ecosystem of packages and tools. – Flat file nature of the software makes it easier to backup and secure our enterprise websites. – Use of flat file storage also makes our development teams' workflows easier and more robust. – Use of flat file storage also makes deployment and maintenance much easier. – Compared to WordPress, Statamic makes it easy to enforce brand guidelines, while giving our content, corporate, and marketing teams flexibility to build new pages using semantic structures. – Ability to choose between flat file and database driven content gives us maximum flexibility in terms of how to structure the sites we build and maintain. – Coming from WordPress, it's a breath of fresh air to have a single team to communicate with for any bugs and feature requests. They are also extremely responsive. – Clear separation of front and back end data and logic means we can ask our front end team to work on this without needing to consult the back end team, and vice versa. – Antlers template language is well liked by our front end team.

Cons

That we didn't switch to using it sooner.

Reason for choosing Statamic

We defined our selection criteria based on needing a CMS that had an underlying and well supported framework, clear separation between the data and the views, a clear roadmap, high quality support, and a vibrant community. The final two products that we considered out of the shortlist were Craft CMS and Statamic. Ultimately, Statamic won out because of its use of Laravel, versus Craft's usage of Yii. The huge support and community around Laravel was the deciding factor, along with its native support for flat-file content management.

### "Very sleek CMS, much better for certain use cases than Wordpress"

February 14, 2020

4.0

Great community helped getting started with the product. The sleekness of the system enabled me to build a very efficient and sleek website.

Pros

Very sleek interface and the ability to customize a lot of stuff. Full control over frontend. That it is based on Laravel, which is my primary framework.

Cons

Some functionality is not easily customisable. I am looking forward to v3, which works as a package on top of Laravel and will likely solve all this.

Reason for choosing Statamic

Seemed overall less convoluted. I am still working with Wordpress for other scenarios, but for this it was ideal.

### "Statamic is an extremly powerfull CMS"

August 10, 2022

5.0

With Statamic it's a lot easier to provide customers with clear and logical editing options, presented in a standardized way.

Pros

Well, of course Statamic is nowadays a package that can be installed into the Laravel PHP framework. And of course I like the clearness of the UI, the docs, the extendibility and the great parser language for page templates, called Antlers.

Cons

For my use cases I usually get all I want, there is no essential feature missing.

### "Great software for quickly creating content sites "

February 20, 2020

5.0

Its been great. We are using it at my company and I found it simple enough that I rolled out a personal blog as well (by myself).

Pros

I'm a huge fan of its simplicity. I used Drupal for years, wordpress, and octobercms and while they may have their place, for a website that is primary content, statistic makes is very very easy. It makes it easy to build out wordpress gutenberg-esk content pages without all the overhead and slowness of wordpress. The user experience is great for content people who really don't know anything about "websites/it" but are marketing & content people. The ability to customize the front end is far simpler than many many cms's out there. I also love that we don't need a database. We were able to reduce monthly costs by quite a bit on hosting this thing over something like drupal.

Cons

Its small still. Finding developers that are specialized in it was kind of a pain. That said, in v3 its a laravel package which opens it up to a larger pool of developers.

### "Statamic is a Powerful, Flat-File CMS"

January 14, 2020

4.0

Statamic is fast, powerful, supported by a team and a robust community, and allows you to structure content to meet the demands of any project or client without the bloat and cruft of Wordpress or the need for porting databases like Craft CMS.

Pros

Statamic is incredibly easy to get up and running and build a robust website. It is flexible, fast, powerful, and has a robust community and toolset for modern web developers.

Cons

Statamic 2 has some admin panel performance issues when you add thousands of pieces of content to a section. On the front-end/rendering side it is plenty fast, but most of these issues are being addressed with the Statamic 3 beta which is already an improvement of an already-great piece of software.

### "Statamic would lead the CMS race if people knew it exists"

March 2, 2020

5.0

Statamic is well suited for all businesses and the ease of use for end users and editors just blows everyone away when they use it. The preview mode kicks ass and the focal point feature might seem small but it is huge. If I calculate the TCO of Statamic it is close to free comparing to WordPress, Wix and others.

Pros

There is no database but I can't notice it as a user. This is by far the best CMS software I have ever used and I have used CMS software since 1995.

Cons

The amount of addons and themes to buy as new user is very limited.

Alternatives considered

[WordPress](https://www.capterra.com/p/131687/WordPress/)

Reason for choosing Statamic

WordPress might be the largest system on the planet and also the most used CMS software. But still the cost of updating and the risks using it was the major reasons we wanted to stay out of the WordPress area. We still have WordPress clients but we try to move them over to Statamic for a better future.

### "The perfect CMS for most sites"

February 5, 2020

5.0

I have use Statamic on every client project the past 5 years (30+ sites) -- it is a pleasure to work with because the team behind it really do care about the developer experience. It gives me the power/function I need out of the box, but is still really configurable and customizable if I ever need to build in more powerful functionality. Since it is a Laravel app at the core, it makes it a breeze to work with.

Pros

\- Flexibility and a "bring your own markup" mindset - Security - Admin UX/UI is a huge plus for clients since it is so simple to use - Version control everything if you want - Incredible support and community

Cons

Everyone certainly has lots of opinions when it comes to CMS choices, and people should use what they're comfortable developing in. Maybe that's a con, Statamic is better suited for developers to use

### "A CMS that customers and developers love to work with"

April 20, 2020

5.0

Pros

There are at least couple of things that stand out from developer perspective. First of all Statamic is PHP based and leverages two popular frameworks: Laravel and Vue.js. This simply allows for access to a large pool of developers that can quickly learn how to build websites using Statamic. My second favourite feature is that it doesn't require a database to run because by default, it stores data in regular files in YAML format. This allows to incorporate GIT repository not only into development process but also to content management workflow, allowing to store full history of content versions. Customer using it appreciate speed, ease of use (allthough I have to honest that a developer has an impact on it and CMS' end user experience depends on how well was the implementation thought out), reliability and security.

Cons

V2 of statamic was missing few features that would get larger, more demanding customers consider it for their projects, but V3 that is about to be released, has had all of them addressed.

### "Truly the worlds raddest CMS."

March 22, 2020

5.0

Pros

Statamic is light weight, powerful, and easy to use. It's also really well documented, and it's really just a joy to build with. The docs are filled with humor and it makes learning Statamic fun! Compared to a lot of the other CMSes out there, none of them have such a well designed user interface on the back end. It's quick, responsive, easy to use, and it makes creating and managing my sites content a cinch. It's also full of little easter eggs that make the experience so much more enjoyable, like the is\_numberwang modifier in the Antlers templating language, or the little power up sound that plays when you update Statamic. The templating language that Statamic uses, Antlers, is super intuitive and allows you to bring your own HTML markup and create anything you can imagine. Statamic really works around you, you don't have to work around it. Statamic also includes the most important features out of the box, like forms, image manipulation tools, and a bunch of other cool stuff. If there's a really specific feature you need that's not built in, they also have a huge marketplace to buy third-party plugins to help you achieve whatever it is that you need to do. The fact that they include so much stuff out of the box, there's no need to fill your site with an excessive amount of plug ins \*cough\* wordpress \*cough\*

Cons

Statamic is definitely developer oriented. It assumes you know how to build websites and have experience doing that.

### "Changed the way I work and feel about my work"

February 7, 2020

5.0

Pros

Statamic is a mature CMS and built by people who understand what web developers need and want. It's a complete package for 90% of the websites I develop. With v3 on the horizon that percentage will go up to a 100. The interface is gorgeous and delivers a great editing experience for my customers. I develop faster and have a lot more fun doing it. This results in better bespoke websites and happier customers.

Cons

The current version has a few omissions which will be rectified in the free v3 update.

### "First Statamic Project"

April 20, 2020

5.0

I have been working on a production site and have never used Statamic before. As a javascript developer, the overall structure of the framework has been pretty fun to work with. However, on the php side of things, getting started with addons etc. has kind of been a wall for me. Particularly figuring things out like where to put my files and using the Statamic api in your project. Overall a great product though that I enjoy using.

Pros

I love the modern look and feel of the control panel and documentation. Additionally, the humor and references throughout make the experience more enjoyable - especially as a 90's kid. The whole thing is a fresh breath of air in the cms world.

Cons

Although the docs and the community are great, there is a lack of tutorials and places to get started with different types of needs. There are a couple old videos out there, but as a new user, there have been many times where I could not find great answers, even between discord, the forum and docs.

### "Outstanding CMS and even better customer support!"

April 20, 2020

5.0

I've built over 10 sites with my agency. We love Statamic because it makes the entire CMS aspect of our work trival and lets us focus on the design and functionality of our sites.

Pros

Based in Laravel, it made sense to check out this product for our agency. And I was not disappointed. We've launched over 10 sites built with Statamic and love it even more every time we use it for another project. The customer support is amazing, and the community is super helpful and welcoming. The CMS itself is one of the best I've ever used. It's makes building sites so much faster.

Cons

No complaints so far. Every time an issue comes up the issue gets addressed pretty quickly. The few things I wished worked different have changed in v3 and I have absolutely no complaints.

### "The best Laravel based CMS"

March 24, 2022

5.0

Pros

Statamic runs directly in a Laravel application meaning that if any features are not included in Statamic, you can build them in the Laravel application that is running Statamic. This is useful for creating APIs, console commands and more. The antlers templating language is very easy to learn as it is similar to Blade but has a lot of features that make development easier. There are updates to Statamic very frequently and installing updates can be done directly in the web control panel. There is also a very active community on the official Statamic Discord server where you can ask questions and learn other information about Statmic.

Cons

The licence price is quite high and only allows for 1 year of updates. The price can make it hard to create small websites for clients at a low price point. Some of the online documentation is wrong (at the time of this review) and I have had to resort to the Discord server multiple times to find the correct answer.

### "Statamic for every designer"

April 24, 2023

5.0

Very positive. I was able to see my sites come live within days. Coding experience is definitely required, but you'd be surprised how easy it can be.

Pros

I'm a designer with a passion for web development. That said, I couldn't code to save my life if I had to, but even if you know just the basics, you can start modifying Statamic websites quite easily – and to me, that is the best feature. I went from someone who just mocked up designs to actually seeing them live.

Cons

The price and setup process involved. I found it reasonably easy as I have some development experience but your mileage may vary. If you're trying to do anything custom, you'd have a hard time unless you have strong PHP and JavaScript skills. Most times though, you'll get amazing help from the team over at their Discord, but don't expect anyone to do your work for you.

### "Best CMS I’ve ever used"

July 7, 2020

5.0

Pros

Statamic totally changed my perception of a what a good CMS should be. I used to use Wordpress for all the sites I created in the past because of all the plugins available and it was “standard” choice. But I always hated how slow it was and how you had to buy 20 plugins to get all the functionality you wanted. With Statamic, 95% of what you need is already there - right out of the box. I’ve created many websites but I wouldn’t call myself a developer by any means. Statamic made it easy for me to build a great looking site that is blazing fast. And it doesn’t have any of the bloat that Wordpress does. And for my clients, Statamic is a breeze for content managers and marketing folks to update and publish new stuff.

Cons

It took some time for me to really understand how to best structure my content and the project with Statamic.
