CIVCAST helps Bexar County reach a large contracting audience. It saves me so much time and money in getting plans and questions and bidders lists to interested parties. Pros It keeps contractors and subs from calling me asking for plans and bidders lists. Administrative Assistant Civil Engineering Used the software for: 2+ years ### "What a time saver" May 14, 2019 5.0 Time saved ----- resources saved Pros In the past I spent hours set up contract documents and plan sets in our plan room for contractors to purchase. Then there was the record keeping of all Planholders and issurance of all addenda with follow up there as well. With Civcast we simply upload the documents. Civcast takes care of the rest. Any questions asked by contractors are quickly sent to the Project Managers who answers it once and it automatically goes to all planholders. When we upload addenda they immediately are sent to all planholders. Cons Occasionally, there is a slight glitch in the software but that is the case with all software. Cons I am listing a con only as personal preference on how you navigate from section to another seems to make you go back to a home page first. Civcast allows for project to reach more unsolicited contractors and subcontractors who may not traditional be on City or owner procurement notification databases. Pros Ability to post and track information as well as viewing who has shown interest in a project. Cons So far no dislikes about the software. I upload our plans and specs. The CivCast software keeps track of all bidders list and questions. Now I don't answer 10 to 20 phone calls about one project. Cons Nothing. The Q/A feature provides an easy way to ensure that all plan holders receive the same information at the same time. Pros What I like most about the software is the ability to quickly communicate information to all plan holders. Pros Very easy to use and asks only the relevant information of the project. There are some options and flexibility in case your would need them. Cons In my opinion, there is nothing that I don't like. I have used it probably in over 100 projects. Pros I love that bids for jobs can be accepted virtually. I also love that it automatically tabulates the bids for you! Cons I wish that it was a little more user-friendly since you have lots of different people utilizing the software for each project. The most valuable feature is that it saves our company and bidders TIME and MONEY. Bidder's Lists are maintained, greatly reduces in-house plan production, any changes, Addenda, information can be sent to all plan holders with the click of a button, and it is extremely affordable for our clients. I highly recommend CIVCAST as an affordable, valuable option to promote and maintain bidding projects for your business. Cons Our employees are issued American Express corporate cards to pay for company expenses, which unfortunately CIVCAST does not accept. I would like to see AMEX added as a payment method so our employees would not be required to pay out of pocket and seek reimbursement. Very straightforward user interface, options to send/not send notifications for updating/adding docs. Best thing is I can see who downloaded the docs and showed interests in bidding the project. Cons Not CivCast's fault. My situation was - It is still legal requirements that government/public school bids need to be advertised on local newspapers. Some newspapers have free e-listing once the client pays to list projects on papers. Sometimes I had to explain to those public gov. agencies why we need to spend on listing on CivCast... I'm a proponant of making business processes as efficient as possible. Moving to a platform like CIVCAST for bid document distribution and tracking just made sense. Pros I love that bidders (and sub contractors) can submit questions through civcast for everyone to view. I only have to answer the question one time and everyone can see the answer. Cons I don't really have any complaints about civcast. Ever since its initial roll out, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] has been pretty proactive to make sure the experience is intuitive for the users and active in updating the software to keep it relevant to my industry (civil engineering). That it manages most of the bidding documentation that I was formerly required to manage. Cons It should give me a notice when deadlines time out, for example it timed out on the date for submitting bidder questions, when I had extended the bid date - those dates ought to be linked. My overall experience with CIVCAST has been great. Pros 1\. The distribution of plans and specifications to interested contractors and suppliers is very simple and reliable. 2. Clients like the "real time" list of planholders. 3. Posting responses to questions and posting an addendum is a very simple and quick process. Cons I do not have any complaints with the software. It also saves time on providing construction documents because I don't have to print sheets or upload to a third party cloud. I also love that I can see who has actually looked at all the drawings vs who has procrastinated! Pros Client preferred mostly because bid tab is instantly generated (where previously it was done manually). Pros When my company is tight on a deadline to post plans and specs, the software makes it easy to log into my account, create a new project and upload documents. Other than that, my other favorite about the software is the PDF Report Creator. Cons When I'm working on one of my projects in My Project, certain tabs I click in that project directs me to a different screen and then I have to click in My Projects again and select the project I was working on to get back in it. And if there are addendums to the bid documents, you can be confident that all of the plan holders will receive the addendums.
