Pros

I really like the integration between case management and accounting software as well as the ability to coordinate the calendar with Microsoft Outlook.

Cons

Statute of limitations dates in personal injury forms cannot be locked or secured to prevent accidental or potentially malicious changes by any employee. I have requested a change in this regard but I have not yet seen it implemented. I also wish our private cloud software had a more automated update option.

Pros

We have the virtual desktop and I love it but for the fact that it always has a hard time with authentication and sign in.

Cons

I wish the app could do more. If I could have the app function like the actual program that could be amazing. The app is truly pointless to me.

Pros

What I like most about this software is that it is very user friendly. I am not very tech savvy so this software is very nice and easy to use. The support staff are very friendly, courteous and helpful. They always have been able to handle and fix any questions or issues that our office have come across.

Cons

the one thing i do not like about this software is the accounting section. When I am cutting a check for a vendor, I can not add matters together to put into one check, I have to cut separate checks. To be able to put more than one matter on a particular vendor's check would make cutting checks easier.

Abacus Law is an essential practice management tool that links easily with Microsoft Office to centralize client data and documents

Cons

Overall the calendar tool is great. Would be nice to be able to attach documents to events, in addition to linking them to matters

Pros

Abacus is user friendly, the calendar is easy to use. I like how I can link and search for emails in the matters tab as opposed to my email.

Cons

We have to call customer support on a regular basis. Our forms don't work and we have called several times to get this going and it never gets completed. Message slips is hit or miss if it works. I believe we have been over charged multiple times and our bill has to be credited, we had to find this mistake.

Pros

I like that I can add names like a firm rolodex and then identify them as needed in a matter.

Cons

There are some options that we do not utilize because we don't find them too user friendly.

### "Bait and Switch Contract"

HORRIFIC!! RUN!!!! Do NOT prepay!!!!!

Pros

The presentation of feature "sold" to the firm.

Cons

Once the Salesperson got our full upfront 3 year payment, he turned us over the the "team" to migrate our data to the software. We quickly realized we made a huge mistake, but the check was cashed. After they attempted to migrate the data, they immediately tried to have us sign a NEW contract claiming it was "not a contract" just "service acknowledgment "or "understanding", but it was a new contract. IF signed, the "new contract" would void out the terms of the original agreement. We tried conforming the two, but Abacus would NOT allow and HELD OUR DATA HOSTAGE. After a year on a 3 year contract we still were unable to use the software. They assigned numerous people who never followed through, but all were the same. In the end, we paid for software that is not usable. In the end, they finally admitted they were trying to get us to sign a new contract after they had cashed the check for 3 year service, but they still refuse to this day to return the funds for use of the software...which can not be used.

### "Avoid at all cost! "

Pros

Great intake form. Holds ample client data all in one location. System worked well until it didn't.

Cons

Customer service rep told me today that he could listen but there was nothing he could do for me. Very frustrating! Once system no longer worked the way it had for a number of years, the reps insist it has never worked the way it has and that I can pay per hour for them to customize it to work like it has up until recently. Buyer beware!!!

Pros

Ease of use. The software is easy to use. I also like the different features such as pre-bills.

Cons

Time inputting data. I think this would be an issue with any software but just the time that it takes to enter detailed billing information.

AbacusNext keeps me current with my calendar; allows me to annotate events taking place in my cases; provides me a quick conflicts check; enables me to bill events and emails in each clients folder; creates an itemized billing statement for my clients. Technical support is always there to help and fix any issue that I have.

Cons

Technical support is not available on the weekends or on holidays for problems with the Abacusnext software

Our firm is small (10 staff). We aren't tech savvy, use mostly MACs with a few PCs. We've been "functioning" without a real system for collaboration- a mix of online web services (Clio), software (Microsoft Office) ad hoc of course, your typical office. We all agreed a few months back that we HAD to change, pick one system that worked for everyone. At a bar event I learned Abacus. Their demos convinced us, we moved everything into their private cloud with AbacusLaw. AbacusLaw is desktop software, like an application you would run on your own desktop, but, they 'put' it into a cloud that you can log into from any computer or mobile device, even a phone, and use Windows. It's hard to believe it works as seamless as it does. There was a learning curve using their software, at least for me, and we had a remote trainer teach us all the basics and how to input everything into matters. The calendaring is wonderful. I feel like even after training we only use 10% of what the software has, so I am looking forward to learning more. Overall it wasn't painless moving, nor is this a cheap setup, but, I'm glad we did, I feel like we really improved how the practice runs, and would do it again. Hope this helps you.

Pros

I like that I can access AbacusLaw on anything, MacBook, phone, and see my files and use AbacusLaw like I'm at work. The program itself has some automation I have really needed, rules and form fills. Reporting in a dashboard.

Cons

It's pretty comprehensive and I wish I had more time to learn about it. I just use what I use today.

Often we have to re-activate our license when trying to utilize the full program. Easy to do, but we can't figure out why it doesn't remember our information.

Our overall experience has been pretty good. Tech support is one of the best parts of Abacus. They are always helpful and have some great learning tools.

Pros

Product for the most part is user friendly. I like that different reports I am able to run for each client.

Cons

That they do not offer any webinars for intermediate users. I know the basics, it would be helpful to know all the little tools and tricks now.

Being able to pull the necessary documents quickly, efficiently for each client. Like having another assistant in the office with you.

Pros

Remote capabilities, secure file storage, ease of file retrieval, customizing feature set. The software is easy to navigate once you get the hang of it. Custom additions are easy to make to on the fly. The security of the cloud is important and with the scanning of files, all your documents are safe and retrievable from anywhere with remote access. Staying on top of important matters and being able to pull down documents and forward them, can put your office at ease.

Cons

Integration with other media for Mircosoft, Outlook, email integration doesn't seems to work very well. Work on the integration piece.

The program has been great. Prior to this system, billing was very tedious. Now, one click takes care of capturing time. Getting acclimated to features is easy and the daily tips help with exploring all the features.

Pros

I like the compatibility between billing and drafting and email. Each email I receive or send can be billed for at the moment it is sent or received. Those emails can then be linked to the file and kept safe. I feel like I am capturing more billable time. I like that my entire file is paperless and contained in one click.

Cons

Actually producing a bill. It takes time to learn the process.

I like how simple it is to navigate through the software and how integrated AbacusLaw is with Abacus Billing

Cons

This software has its limitations. While I don't have much to comment on Abacus Law, Abacus Accounting has glitches. For example, we are a firm that bills a flat fee instead of hourly. The scheduled payments option is glitchy, and that messes with what we can see with our accounts payable.

Again, I could not imagine operating our firm without Abacus. The ease of use and the structure of our client files. Abacus is perfect!

Pros

This software is very easy to use and has so many features. Abacus keeps our client files/information so orderly and I cannot imagine operating our business without it.

Cons

There was a glitch with the dates on the birth years of our clients wherein the system was defaulting to 2000 instead of 1900.
