Pros This makes a huge difference in preparing dances. We no longer have a huge long line waiting for admittance. It’s a shortened thing due to having those prepaid tickets. Love it!! No one likes having the cash thrown at them from before!! Cons Some kids are still showing up with cash or parents don’t sign up online. It doesn’t eliminate all the problems but does some. Pros My School Dance helped us to streamline our ticket sales. All of the information required from our students was stored in one, easy-to-access place. We no longer had to handle money, print tickets, or keep spreadsheets on students and guests. Cons There was a bit of a learning curve for using various features. However, any issue we had was quickly resolved by My School Dance staff. Our students and parents were not aware of the surcharge for use, so that was a slight problem starting out with this system. It would have been helpful to have that information on the student information sheet. Pros It held good records of our students and their information. It is perfect for a smaller dance studio. Cons It was outdated and didn't seem ever to evolve. Really like the spreadsheets that I can download to keep track of payments. Pros Our school does not have to handle money. Staff support is amazing. Spreadsheets have been great! Cons Browser restrictions. Not easy to put in the birth date. Pros We used this to set up our Father-Daughter and Mother-Son school dances. It provided us with the organization, easy payment and tracking that we needed while saving loads of time and paper. Greatly saved time consuming work for staff! Cons This program met our simple needs perfectly and we did not have any major issues. Any questions we had were answered promptly and effectively by customer support. There are too many opportunities for errors, questions, and need for resolutions. The process we have for a small school is quite simply through a paid receipt and added to a spreadsheet. Perhaps the larger schools see a bigger benefit with the service. At this point I see zero benefit for us in managing things. I won't be recommending MySchoolDance to the next group. Pros We liked that students could get a QR code, in theory simplifying the check-in/out process. Cons We did not use the paying service, because we handle that in-house and really don't want to force our families to pay more for what they already have to pay for if their child doesn't do enough fundraising. I understand that the make money when schools use the pay service, that's just not something we will do, at least I don't anticipate us ever using it. To be honest, the process of registering students and having them register, complete agreements, and getting tickets was so much extra work, so much hassle, too many issues that it ended up eating up more of my time than it typically does I was beyond frustrated and angry. Students were extremely confused and a ton more questions and hassles coming from them to resolve issues that I don't think should have happened. Support Higher Education Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Not user friendly " October 9, 2019 1.0 I'm sure the office is happy not to deal with the paperwork and payments that go into a school dance, but there has to be a better way, then to use My School Dance. It seems like new software that hasn't been driven enough to have worked all the problems out of it and I would recommend it to anyone. Pros I liked that customer support was quick to respond each time. Cons There are mostly all cons about this software. Each student needs to create an account, the website collects all the student information from each account (Name, birthday, email address for each student), the parent needs an account, each guest needs an account. Then they all have to sign into the account separately, go through all the permissions and it is a terrific amount of hassle to simply buy tickets to a high school dance. There is no useful help of any kind on the site, every question you have requires an email to customer support. I had to email 3 times, its unacceptable and I will lobby hard for our school to find another program to use next year. Quick and thorough, but it would have been nice to be able to figure things out directly on the website as we were going through the process. I think the basics are good and with further development it will be a great resource! Pros It made collecting payments and tracking the students who purchased tickets very easy. Check in was a breeze (if the students had their phones or printouts)! Cons I'm a "get in there and figure it out" kind of person with software, but I found it very difficult to locate things I needed. Better labeling/easier navigation would be helpful. An FAQ page with clarifications of common questions and even a generic step-by-step walk-through of a typical process would have been extremely helpful. Every question that I had was answered almost immediately. They were always there to help me and solve any problems that I was experiencing. Everything that I came across that would make the system work better for me, I gave as a suggestion of ways to improve and they are working on all of my suggestions to implement. I honestly cannot say enough great things about this company and how their support was amazing during the whole process. Pros This software was very easy to figure out. It was not hard to navigate and if I messed up it really did not matter. Cons I truly did not have anything that I like least about this software. Parents liked the fact that they were then notified when their student scanned in and out. Cons I had to restart and sign into the app each time I scanned a student. Students had trouble searching through all of their emails from My School Dance to find their barcode. Some of that falls on the student's responsibility but ultimately it just took a few extra minutes.
