Project Portfolio Manager mi consente di monitorare, in tutti gli aspetti chiave, lo stato dell'arte di ogni progetto, di raggruppare il portafoglio a mio piacimento a seconda di driver rilevanti, e rilevare le criticità che potrebbero intaccare la buona riuscita di un progetto. Pros Project Portfolio Manager consente la gestione ed il monitoraggio di un portafoglio di progetti. I progetti posso essere raggruppati e visualizzati in base a vari criteri standard (budget, stato avanzamento) oppure personalizzati (rilevanti per una determinata area dell'azienda). Il software, che si presenta con un interfaccia user friendly, consente in pochi passaggi di creare nuove progetti e dettagliarne ogni aspetto: risorse assegnate, budget disponibile, tempistiche attese. Project Portfolio Manager consente, inoltre, la creazione di gantt, facilmente condivisibili con tutti i soggetti interessati, ed il monitoraggio dei progetti in corso, con vari funzioni che permettono di tenere sotto controlli i costi, lo stato d'avanzamento e rilevare eventuali aree critiche da risolvere. Project Portofolio Manager è un valido strumento per monitorare lo stato di avanzamento di ogni progetto, comprendere i coisti dello stesso, ed intervenire, ad esempio spostando FTE da un progetto all’altro, quando su alcuni cantieri si rilevano dei ritardi. Il software, inoltre, permette di condividere lo stato dell’arte dei progetti con i propri clienti, e con i vari stakeholder dello stesso, in modo tale da tenere tutti adeguatamente informati. Pros Project Portofoglio Manager è un applicativo di valido supporto per l’attività di PMO, relativamente semplice da usare con un interfaccia adeguatamente personalizzabile. Il software è un grado di gestire un portafoglio di molteplici progetti, categorizzandoli in base a diversi criteri: priorità, budget disponibile, stakeholder interessati. È possibile utilizzare gli strumenti di PPM per definire la timeline di un progetto, anche rappresentato il tutto mediante Gantt, delineare il budget e gli FTE necessari per il suo completamento. A progetto in corso, inoltre, si può monitorare le stato dell’arte dello stesso, orrendo un dettaglio sul rispetto delle scadenze, sulle spese sostenute e sulle ore impiegante; questo consente una migliore gestione delle risorse disponibile evitando ritardi monster e mantenendo la sostenibilità finanziaria del progetto. The implementation was straight forward and facilitated by the vendor. The training by the vendor was good, but the documentation and training materials are wanting. The system was rolled out to the entire IT department, but only the PMO utilized it. Other groups within IT found the product difficult to use and understand. Because the PMO used the product daily, the PMO found the product serviceable, but the clunky interface made it difficult at times. The product was discontinued from service here at CCHS, but the vendor was helpful in turning down and archiving the information. The system is a capable system for tracking and rolling up large portfolios of projects, so in that I can recommend the system. The interface was not to our liking, but other organizations may find it to their liking. Pros The software uses an easy folder structure for tracking multiple portfolios. Cons The software user interface requires the user to navigate a convoluted series of menus all over the system to accomplish tasks. The reporting capability is limited in that it is primarily textual and any thing more requires custom coding. The product uses a difficult-to-use project task building and maintenance system for managing project schedules.
