Manager, Corporate and Foundation Partnerships Fund-Raising Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Straightforward and reliable funder database " July 6, 2020 5.0 I use Grant Connect almost daily to research corporate and foundation donors and potential donors. I find it simple and intuitive to use, with the key information about giving history and prioritize broken down into the Gift Analysis, Programs, and About sections. I recommend this database to almost every fundraiser I meet and anyone volunteering with a charity in a grant seeking role. Pros The grant programs section on each entry in Grant Connect is essential for any fundraiser. It gives you simple, reliable information on how a funder prefers that you reach out to them and the steps to do so, including any deadlines, online applications, and different streams of funding. I also love how easy it is to view histories of giving by gift amount, organization, and sector. This critical information at a glance helps you understand the giving interests of a funder within literally seconds. My first step when researching any source of funding is to look them up on Grant Connect. Cons Having a last updated date would help understand how current information is. I understand much information is generated by CRA and funder websites. The latter can change frequently and without notice, so it would be great to understand how recent this information is. Development Director Fund-Raising Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Vancouver Development Director" March 8, 2019 5.0 We are considered a smaller health charity in comparison to others, but we have a national mission. The health issues we fund raise for are not as I have been told 'sexy' or life threatening, but they are serious and chronic. With Grant Connect software, I can be so specific in what I need in funding and for what purpose that I always find potential foundations and Corporations that we may qualify as recipients of funding without wading through hours of searching websites. Even to the point of providing me with the granting cycles. Grant Connect has also helped us to introduce ourselves to smaller Family Foundations that we never would have found on our own. Pros What I like most about Grant Connect's newest software is how easy it is to use. Like all charities and not-for-profits we have staff turnover, which means I will have to train them to use Grant Connect. It is so easy to understand the entire training takes a couple of hours at the very most and they are good to go, which for me means that this jet gets refueled inflight rather than stop land and start climbing all over again. Cons I honestly have not found anything that I do not like, and I use it on a regular basis. They have taken time to work all the kinks out, but as of yet I have not found anything negative to say Review Source DP Dianne P. Cons It doesn't identify the source of some of the data. Or indicate if the data is from a summary of analysis. Sometimes the raw data is preferred so we can make our own conclusions. July 4, 2020 5.0 Overall, I would absolutely recommend Grant Connect (and have on several occasions) to any organization searching for a prospect research tool that delivers value for cost. Pros Working in the charitable sector, cost is always a primary factor - and more specifically, how to balance cost with overall value. I have worked with numerous prospect research databases, but I have found Grant Connect to provide the best bang for the buck. It's easy to navigate, contains a lot of great information about the prospect, it has a useful tracking feature to help you stay on schedule, and it doesn't include a lot of useless "bells and whistles". Cons One of the largest issues for me has been that the information can be out-of-date or incorrect. A couple examples are individuals on the board of directors who have passed away (several years ago) and incorrect deadlines for grant submissions - in both of these instances it said the data had been updated within the last three months of my search. What I have learned is that I need to check the CRA website or the organization's website to check any relevant data - which I should probably be doing anyway! Review Source MP Margot P. Director of Development Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "My go to research product" May 14, 2019 5.0 Grant Connect is where my team goes both to identify new prospects and to consolidate and confirm our knowledge of our long term donors. It's quick to find information you need. I use the database in many different ways - on the fly in meetings, when a donor comes up and we want to get a baseline level of detail about it; during an afternoon research session when I'm compiling more detailed profiles of funders; and even to learn about our own organization's history with a donor through the gift histories. We've identified prospects geographically, by cause, and in many other combinations. We would not have the same level of confidence in our research and our fundraising without Grant Connect. Pros Grant Connect is the definitive resource for my organization's prospect research, specifically for our work to identify foundations and corporations. The data is reliable and the interface is easy to use. Beyond that, I know I can rely on the fact that the Grant Connect team has checked and re-checked information, including what's necessary and interpreting what's obscure - and they respond so quickly if I need help or guidance. Other tools I have used in the past do not have the same depth of information and understanding of fundraising as Grant Connect. Cons Our organization does not currently use the prospect management tools, such as the Pipeline, however I can see that it would still a valuable tool for smaller organizations looking to organize their research. Pros I appreciate that this software is very user friendly. Being able to filter the information I'm looking for is so helpful and ensures we receive a list of potential funders that want to support the work we do. Cons There was a new learning curve when Grant Connect upgraded their system but now that I've used it, I think it's great and user friendly. Reason for choosing Grant Connect I felt that with Grant Connect, we get more for the money we pay. The other products we looked at were much more expensive. Review Source AC Addie C. Pros WFYO enjoys the ease of use of Grant Connect. All of our users can access a variety of grants in a timely manner. Cons WFYO can become overwhelmed with the amount of content on the platform. It can be a challenge to filter out grants that do not apply directly to our needs.
