If something goes wrong, or there is an anomaly in a backup I am notified. Every week I get an update on recent backups and reassures me that all is well Pros Very simple to setup and use. It does the job it says will do, make backups simple. It also easily guides us in restoration processes for data verification or in case of data issues Cons Only issue I had, was probably not seeing certain configured backups. This was mostly our fault as it was not assigned to a team, and at the time I was not the owner of the team. Pros Simple setup - works great with DigitalOcean Managed Databases with only a single login for all our databases - auto-configuration means you're more likely to set up a backup. For a developer everything is clear and professionally arranged Cons There was an uncovered pricing case that the team handled well. Currently, they track database size based on the selected plan. Pros We can basically backup data from any cloud based service that we use and have them placed securely with storage providers of our own choise. Cons As a fairly new product on the market there have been some adjustments that at times have interferred with our backup-jobs. However this is expectable and their support is excellent and they quickly resolve any problem when they occur. Reason for choosing SimpleBackups I couldn't really find a good alternative. We run a multitenant payments platform, and database backups are critical for our customers to ensure that we don't lose data. It's also important to have a working database backup solution that we don't need to configure once it's been set. Pros It was extremely easy to setup and get going. I was able to get offsite backups working within 20 minutes! Cons From a functionality perspective, it's great. I think the only improvement I can suggest is some UI enhancements, but they seem to be updating the product regularly, so I'm sure it's not far off. It was easy to set up and schedule a daily backup. We have tried other Notion backup providers, but SimpleBackups was the first one that really managed to backup our Notion installation. Pros When the size of our Notion Space resulted in timeouts of the backup job and fluctuating sizes, the SimpleBackups team kept following up on the issue and delivered a solution, all the time making sure we were in the loop. Cons I have no complaints about the experience. All interactions have always been positive and the only issue we ran into was resolved in good time. Doing all this stuff manually isn't difficult, but it is tedious and time-consuming so I greatly appreciate how streamlined and simple SimpleBackups have made this process. Pros It was super easy to implement on my Rails + React site Cons It's expensive, especially for my needs. I'm grandfathered into the free tier and am very appreciative of that but for my hobby site needs, the paid plans are just too much. I'd be happy to pay $10-15/mo for the service for this lower tier if it became required but $30+ is too much. Reason for choosing SimpleBackups I came across it years ago and it had a free tier which many/most others did not. Since my project is just a hobby that costs me money already, having a simple, free solution to handle nightly backups was critical. We don't need a lot of functions, but we need stable incremental backup and always operational, since we have clients 24/7 and we work with PBX-IP, so when something bad happens, we need to almost correct imediatly Cons I think the capacity of talking to support. Islam always help us when we need the most, but we missed the chat. Talking by email may be a good way to do in USA (for example), but not here in Brazil haha. They said they would double check on it the next day... And they actually did! Which isn't normal for customer service. Pros It was easy to setup and configure. I was backed up within the hour. Cons I wasn't able to manage plans from my Digital Ocean account like advertised. But they had a published work around that worked for me with little headache. SimpleBackups has been a great fit so far and we're really happy with their service. Onboarding was great and our backups are now fully automated. Pros Works great. The team is responsive and helped us get started. All our backups are now scheduled and running fine. Storage replication is a great addition to our backup strategy as well.
