Overall, my experience with Melio has been positive. It provides an easy and efficient way to manage business payments, schedule vendor payments, and keep accounts payable organized. The interface is straightforward, and the accounting software integrations save time. Although processing times and some transaction fees could be improved, Melio has been a reliable tool for simplifying payment management.

Pros

What I liked most about Melio is how simple it makes paying vendors and managing business payments. The platform is easy to navigate, allows payments by bank transfer or credit card, and helps streamline accounts payable. Scheduling payments, tracking payment status, and syncing with accounting software make it an efficient solution for small businesses.

Cons

One drawback of Melio is that some payments can take longer to process than expected, especially standard bank transfers. The platform also has limited international payment options, and certain features, such as paying by credit card, come with additional fees that can add up over time.

No longer do we have paper cluttered all over the physical office desk space. I figured moving the vendor documentation to one single platform would result in losing half our hard copies; however, surprisingly enough, they were saved. It is also a relief that users are able to review and approve items within Melio so I do not have to send follow-up approval requests. Less email approvals is always good.

Pros

I am finally done with waiting on invoices to be processed. I was actually surprised that the entire network didn't crash when it finished syncing. Melio has learned what my coding style looks like. Whoopie.

Cons

When I go back into Melio and click on the back button to find a specific vendor, sometimes I get sent straight to the New Invoices page instead of where I left off. Ugh. And then you have your "custom colors" in Melio. When you type in the date field, the whole system will freeze as if it is processing something...for about 2 seconds...before you can continue.

Overall, my experience with Melio has been positive. It is a useful solution for managing invoices, sending payments, and keeping vendor payments better organized. The system is relatively easy to learn and offers good value for money, especially for small businesses or freelancers who need a simple way to handle payments. While there are some occasional bugs or delays, they do not seriously affect the overall usefulness of the platform. I would recommend Melio to users who need a practical and convenient payment management tool.

Pros

What I liked most about Melio is that it makes invoice management and vendor payments much easier to organize in one place. The platform is fairly intuitive, so the learning curve is not steep, even for someone who does not want to spend too much time figuring out a new financial tool. I also appreciate the flexibility in payment methods and the fact that it can help streamline money transfers and payments to vendors.

Cons

What I liked least is that some parts of the process could still be smoother, especially when dealing with occasional delays, verification steps, or minor interface issues. Customer support is generally helpful, but response times could be faster when the issue is urgent. There is also some room for improvement in making fees and processing times even clearer before confirming a payment.

It Tracks the status of payments in one location. Also, since there are multiple tabs for each company (for example) - no problem. Credit Card features...meh...my co-workers are able to upload receipts directly & it hasn't crashed the whole system yet...

Pros

I've been pleasantly surprised at how well this automated Invoice Scanning system works reading the text correctly for the most part. Usually, Vendor Categories are messed up by these AI systems. The scan has synced ok with QuickBooks.

Cons

Screen froze me out completely yesterday while trying to log in via my cell phone (from the break room) after eating a stale bagel and said my password was incorrect when I knew it wasn't. Just because it was a new devise. International wire transfers take forever. Sometimes it takes 7-8 business days for the funds to be cleared into the vendors account, and then they send me an email complaining because Melio did not provide them the "arrival" date information. Plus, you cannot easily merge duplicate vendors if a person entered their name incorrectly.

Pros

It is a real pal when you are launching a business. You can send an invoice to clients and they pay how they want. No hidden service fees, you will receive 100% in your bank account.

Cons

The credit card fee is standard, but some clients don't want to pay extra fees when they are paying a small invoice. So it is better for consequent payments.

Overall, my experience with Melio has been positive. The learning curve was very low, and it provided good value for money for our needs. We primarily used it to bill vendors and receive ACH payments, and the QuickBooks integration made reconciliation easy and reliable. Customer support was adequate when needed, and the platform generally felt stable with minimal bugs or issues. Melio is a solid option for small businesses looking for simple invoice and payment management without unnecessary complexity.

Pros

Melio is very easy to use with a minimal learning curve. The interface is clean and intuitive, which made it simple to start billing vendors to receive ACH payments without much setup. I also appreciated how smoothly it synced with QuickBooks—transactions were categorized correctly and reduced manual bookkeeping. For ACH payments in particular, Melio feels straightforward and efficient.

Cons

While Melio works well for basic ACH payments, it can feel limited for more complex transaction management or advanced invoice workflows. Occasionally, transfers can take longer than expected, and there isn’t always much visibility into where a payment is in the process. Some additional reporting or customization options would be helpful.

Alternatives considered

[Wave](https://www.capterra.com/p/178021/Wave-Apps/)

Reasons for choosing Melio

We chose Melio primarily because of its competitive processing fees compared to Wave and QuickBooks. Melio offered lower costs for ACH payments, which made it a better fit for our billing needs—especially as we were sending invoices to vendors who paid via ACH. The overall fee structure felt more transparent and affordable without sacrificing essential features. In addition, Melio’s user experience and QuickBooks integration were strong differentiators. The platform was very easy to use, and syncing payments directly to QuickBooks saved us time on reconciliation and reduced bookkeeping errors. While competitors like Wave and QuickBooks Payments have their merits, Melio struck the best balance of cost-effectiveness, ease of use, and reliable transaction management for our specific use case.

Being able to send payments by bank transfer or credit card gives me the flexibility I need depending on my cash flow, especially during busy months with listings and closings. I also like that Melio keeps everything organized, so I never miss a payment and all my vendors receive their funds on time. Melio has become an essential tool for my business. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a simple, reliable, and efficient way to manage business payments.

Pros

For my type of business, where I work with different service providers and need quick, reliable payments, Melio has been a great tool. I definitely recommend it to other real estate agents or small businesses looking to simplify their payables. Pros: •Very easy to use •Flexible payment options (ACH or credit card) •Great for managing multiple vendors •Keeps payments organized and on time

Cons

I honestly haven’t experienced any real cons so far. Everything has worked smoothly for my needs. The only ‘con’ is that I wish I had started using it earlier, it really simplified my payments.

Pros

The software is straight forward and does not require much of a learning curve. The customer support is quick to respond, usually within 20 minutes via the chat support. I chose this software to assist with money transfer and the managing of invoices. I do not recall any fees or charges associated with the software. Set up took all of about thirty minutes, if that.

Cons

I wanted to love this software, but was unfortunately unable to truly experience its benefits. I have been in business over ten years and have used multiple invoice software companies with no issues. What attracted me the most to Melio was same day and next day ACH transfer. This never happened. I have tried this software several times, and each time I receive a generic email saying the transfer cannot be processed after an internal review. The software has great promise, but not much follow through.
