### "Simplify Accounts Payable"

Melio has simplified our accounts payable process. We have sent less than 20 checks during the last 2 years that we have been using Melio, down from hundreds of checks written and mailed in the years before. Simple to use, with some additional features that are sometimes needed, including "fast" ACH.

Pros

Melio is simple to use, fast to set up, and has allowed us to stop sending 90% of the checks we used to send. We have found that most of our vendors and contractors prefer electronic payments instead of paper checks.

Cons

Does not integrate with Quickbooks Desktop software.

### "I use with QBO, but it's better on it's own."

I would pay a monthly fee for telephone support.

Pros

I use Melio payments primarily to pay 1099 Independent Contractors through Quickbooks Online. It took me a while to figure out I could go outside QBO directly to Melio and set up direct deposits in seconds rather than hours in QBO. Literally, that much difference!Melio is free unless you send an expedited payment, so it's a great deal - and better than bill.com which I also use...

Cons

Melio used to have outstanding phone support (still grateful to \[sensitive content hidden\] for al her help), but about a year ago, cut all that outl. Now you have to either go through email or chat and hope for the best. It's scary to trust you bank accounts to a company that doesn't even have a phone number.

### "Horrible Product, No Customer Care"

Just terrible. I can't say I'd ever recommend this product to anyone. Ours is a small business and I shudder to think what a nightmare it would be for a larger company with more vendor payments.

Pros

None. It was terrible in every way. They've taken money from my client's account erroneously and I can't get a response from them as to when we can expect a refund.

Cons

Sending my vendors one check per each invoice. They called saying this made more work for them. Why no consolidation of payments on one check? Also, Melio took funds from my client's account erroneously and a month later, I still can't get them refunded and don't have any method of contacting Melio except through emails to its anonymous support team.

### "Worst customer service ever!!"

Pros

No pros at this point. I thought that this was going to be a great choice, but it is not!

Cons

I processed 13 bill payments on 9/6, the funds were withdrawn from my account immediately. I started to receive phone calls from my credit card accounts, bank, insurance companies saying that payment was never received. I immediately looked at the QBO account, then my checking account. I reached out to MELIO via a chat and email. I was able to chat with a representative who eventually told me that "Unfortunately there was a bug in the system that prevented the payments from going out." REALLY?? And you couldn't even make your clients aware of this when it was occurring or even afterwards?! NOPE, now I have incurred late fees, and penalties. I requested that they overnight mail these checks to my vendors with an explanation of what occurred on their end, but was told that there was no way for the system to expedite payments, but could give me promotions for future payments as long as I was eligible. I requested contact with someone in a supervisory role, but have never heard from anyone. Again, all their fault, but no responsibility taken on their end. This company is just a joke, and I have expressed my concern with their business practices to Quickbooks as well. If you are thinking of a billpay service--stay away from MELIO!!

### "Good unless you need a critical payment to be processed immediately"

Up until the failed same-day payments, it had been a pretty good way for us to send out payments without having to get checks signed. I am very disappointed with the same day payment issues though.

Pros

It's free and can be used by the owner from his cell phone.

Cons

We had two critical payments that had to go out same day. We paid $30 to have them expedited and they both failed. Customer service could not tell me why and the issue was never resolved.

Pros

It easily integrates with online accounting software and helps me pay bills for multiple clients in one place.

Cons

I wish it would not sync recurring payments into online accounting software until it occurs because I don't want to pre-record a whole year of payments.

### "Melio Almost Put Me Out of Business"

Horrible customer experience when I was hacked last month. It is still not resolved. Someone set themselves up as a vendor and then attempted to pay themselves. The fraudulant contacts are still not out of my account and my account has been frozen for over a month despite claims that it is all cleared up. Foolishly I believed them and attempted to pay my key suppliers again. I came back over the holidays to find that no payments had gone out and almost lost my biggest supplier/vendor. Multiple chats and even a message to one of their executives on LinkedIn (his response illustrated why their customer experience is so poor) have yielded nothing. Despite the headache to set up all my vendors again on another service, that is what I am doing. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE.

Pros

easy to set up and use -- had been reliable until my account was hacked over a month ago. Since then it has been inop.

Cons

unbelievably poor customer support. They have no phone option and are limited on chat. They will promise you a quick email response, but then it never happens.

### "Complance team and Account Manager non-resposive"

We need to be able to hold someone and Melio accountable when they make a mistake, when a transaction is blocked we have no way to track down the individual who blocked the transaction, determine why and resolve the issue. the lack of transparence, and responsiveness is forcing me to seek alternative platforns even though I have been happy with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], my account rep. He seem to have no authority, or visibility into other departments.

Pros

The workflow and interface are idea. If the the staff supporting the product were at the level of the software this would be a wining offering

Cons

The compliance team blocked two payments for maintance on properites the trust manages. We provided FEIN, notarised trust documents, 2021 form 1041 tax returns, copies on invoices from vendors for service on the showerhead and HVAC and all I have heard is silence. My trustee and attorney are furious and my accountant is dissapointed and researching alternatives. The property manager and I have repeatedly called the support number as well as making use if the on-line support group.I have reentered the reciepts as my melio account rep sugggested but when I go to schedule payment it goes to \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] blocked so I assume this account is flagges/banned. We are not violating any term of service and are engaged in management of 2 owned properties inherited from my family into a irrevocable Form 11041 spendthrift trust with its own bank account, FEIN, attorney, accountant and trustee and board

I chose it due to cost and ease of use

Because of they did not deliver payments as advertised and because they did not respond to my inquiry regarding my payment not being expedited. I do not recommend their service.

Pros

Easy to setup and start using. Integrates with Quickbooks.

Cons

They advertise that payments will be sent to vendors in 2-3 business days. My vendors told me that payments took 5 business days. You can pay additional for next day payment delivery, which I tried. The payment still took 5 business days. I emailed customer service and received no response.

### "One of the best tools for small businesses"

Pros

It's rare that you're offered a low cost or free option that actually works but in Melio's case they promised to deliver an easy way to take payments from our clients and that's exactly what they delivered. We have never had an issue sending our payment link to clients and they've always been very happy to use the tool, pay our invoices, and quickly settle accounts. It's been great seeing new features added over the last few years and I look forward to working with Melio into the future.

Cons

International payments would be sensational but I understand that's difficult.

### "Missing key to remote work"

Pros

Super easy to use! Do you have the option to integrate it with your QuickBooks or use it as a standalone product which is great! This has eliminated my need to go to clients offices to write checks and I am introducing this product to all my clients to make their life easier!

Cons

The refund feature could use some improvement such as getting a refund when I accidentally mail a check to the wrong address and the check gets returned, I understand there’s a little bit of work that goes into this and each time I reached out to customer support they have resolved it for me quickly. I imagine this feature will continue to improve over time

### "Lovely interface, but broken functionality"

Overall, I'd say Melio is an alpha product that was released to the market too fast. Their UI is beautiful, but their underlying software is really disappointing. I'd steer clear until they've had time to build a reliable product.

Pros

The user interface design of Melio is really pretty, and the features seem really nice and simple visually, at least.

Cons

The visual design is great, but so far, all the major functionality I've tried is broken. Credit Card Payments I tried to pay a vendor via the credit card functionality, but since credit card verification takes days, I ended up running out of time and had to just go pay my bank for a wire transfer. So Melio cost me time and money! And I was embarrassed about the late payment. My card was fine; it's just the address Melio had for it was wrong. I couldn't tell because Melio doesn't show you your credit card details on the dashboard. I also couldn't tell because the credit card form is broken in Chrome! Vendor Management I gave Melio a second chance and added my vendors for my other business into it. The vendor info request functionality is broken! The first email doesn't send. The "resend" email has image buttons in it with broken links, so your vendor can't access Melio even if they get the email! I have yet to have a successful experience using Melio, and I hate how it has only made me look bad to my vendors so far.

### "Helpful as can be"

Melio is nice to sync all information of A/P and A/R to keep better track of what is paying out and what is coming in. I don't have to write as many checks and mail out invoices. I think with some work on the accounts receivable side this program will be even better. You have to wait sometimes for items to sync. Can't really complain too much when most transactions are free. That's really nice.

Pros

I like how Melio syncs with my QBO. I put in a bill and it shows up in my to pay list of vendors. From there I can schedule it to be paid and its paid on time.

Cons

Much improvement is needed in the accounts receivable. My invoices sometimes don't show up for me to send and it's hard for some of my customers to sign up to make payments to me or they don't want to give out their banking information.

### "Invaluable application"

This product makes remote work possible. We have not missed a beat transitioning from paper to electronic payments.

Pros

Our organization is 100% remote making check writing obsolete. Melio has filled the gap! It is so easy to use that even the least tech savvy people have no trouble using the application. No training necessary and our vendors love it!

Cons

The accounts receivable side of Melio isn't quite as friendly.

My overall experience with Melio has been a positive one. We have multiple locations and the approval process on each invoice being processed has been seamless.

Pros

The ease of set up and implemenation on this software is outstanding. The immediate synch with Quickbooks has been a time saver.

Cons

This software was free when we started using and now is charging per transacation. I am not a fan as part of our attraction to this software was no fee.

### "No Protection Against Fraud"

I am being sued for negligence because I used Melio for a client whose account was hacked. Client's position is that I should have known Melio did not provide any protections.

Pros

I liked Melio user interface - not much benefit when thousands of dollars are stolen.

Cons

Melio does not protect its users against fraud. Their position is that it is your own fault if your account gets hacked.

Pros

It is nice being able to have rewards being built for credit card payments, less 1099's, and simple payment tracking

Cons

Not really friendly yet for QB Desktop users. We have a lot of features we would like including chain and price driven approval system and other nice feature would be more medium to large business friendly would be nice. If you are small business this tool is great but I see a future with this product working more and more for the medium to large business area.

### "I lead teams with interns and newbies and Melio has saved my sanity! "

Pros

Simple to set-up, train and use - Melio has been a lifesaver in my accounting team processes. The approval functionality allows for training of interns and newbies with some control and the automated notifications help keep our suppliers informed and happy. Love being able to preschedule payments to pay per supplier terms which helps keep cash in the bank as long as possible yet avoiding late fees.

Cons

Just wish that there was a notification for suppliers as soon as the payment was set up vs just when it’s sent.

Pros

It's easy to use and inexpensive. When needed, the customer service is excellent.

Cons

It would be useful to have the ability to pass on the $1.50 check fee to vendors who refuse to use an electronic payment option.

Program does what we need it to do, and sends money into our bank account. Wish it would be able to name the payments so that our bank account can tie the invoice to the transaction name though.

Pros

\- Adds processing fee to customer if they choose credit card- Gives option for FREE ACH

Cons

Invoice numbers not customizable or sequentialTransaction name comes into the bank as just Melio-xyz instead of Melio-invoicenumber
