### "fast and easy payment processing"

At this point in the Melio Payments review, I can honestly say that it's worthwhile to try, particularly given that it's free. For freelancers, accountants, and small enterprises, it's a fantastic financial solution. The latter group may automate their bills or payments and handle all of their customers from a single platform.

Pros

A very tidy, straightforward, but effective tool for paying bills and invoices, Payment processing, is quite simple compared to its rivals; it is substantially more productive. This product's flawless integration with our accounting software is why we chose it. Additionally, it eliminates the inconvenience of printing and sending paper checks. Recipient changes of the payment method selected are seamless

Cons

Improved phone customer service is something I would like to see no other recommendations now. Vendors are added with their Melio links, and those vendors currently in QuickBooks should automatically connect. Now, when you do that, a new vendor is formed and is not connected to the one that presently exists in QuickBooks. Wishlist: It would be nice if there were an option to send international wire transfers in different currencies. If it is wholly linked with Wave Invoicing, it would be fantastic and allow a free connected workflow.

### "Great for small businesses that want to keep track of contractors"

I can pay contractors, keep track of their invoices easily, and also keep track of their total annual payments for my tax purposes much easier.

Pros

It's made my life easier keeping track of each contractor and how much I've paid them over the year making taxes less of a hassle.

Cons

I'd love to see Melio function with Quicken. I'd like more customization for my own branding with creating and how clients see and receive invoices, giving me logos, names, and branding color options.

### "Started off okay, then crashed and burned"

It started off as a pretty okay solution for needing to streamline payments to vendors all in one place. It wasn't the smoothest ever - seemed like lots of extra/unnecessary clicks to do what you need to do - but the best thing I could find at the time. (more than once I didn't ACTUALLY send a payment that I thought I did, because their process involves several steps of confirmation and the last step looks like a confirmation page... but you have to actually scroll down to the bottom of the page and approve the payment one more time, before it will be sent. And the page is formatted just long enough that the button is not visible on a regularly sized browser screen, you have to scroll down to see it). Support was slow and usually refused to answer my questions at first because I logged in with my Intuit account and apparently they couldn't match up the email address I'd send requests from with my Melio account. I learned I needed to tell them in the initial email that the email address I was using was my Intuit account and that's how I log in to Melio. Towards the end, support just flat out refused to respond to me at all - even when I reached out multiple times (all I wanted to do was cancel a recurring payment - that always failed b/c of aforementioned vendor name issue - but I couldn't log in anymore without paying for a plan). Later on as they began rolling out the paid version, the site became very buggy, I had issues with payments being processed that they couldn't explain, and overall became a total hair-pulling event every time I signed in. Completely incompatible with running a professional business. I shifted all my banking to Relay that has built in support for bill payment. I'm paying a bit for the service, but it does everything Melio claimed to do except better, and the integration with QBO is much more intuitive. And you can get a knowledgeable human on the phone within 10 minutes if you have a question! Wish I'd made that switch ages ago.

Pros

I liked having a central place to pay my bills from. Worked decently at first... but then...

Cons

Melio became a raging dumpster fire for me right around the time they started rolling out their paid plans. I started encountering FAR more errors in the process, failed payments with no notice, failures in the interface... all things that had operated fine (if not flawlessly) before. I was willing to put up with a certain amount of hassle factor in exchange for the service, but when service quality noticeably deteriorated simultaneously with them rolling out a required paid plan, I couldn't run away fast enough (I see now there's a limited free option, but initially that wasn't there). Also, yes it integrates with QBO, but not in a logical way to my non-bookkeeper mind. I found it very confusing and not a smooth process at all. Uploading invoices and pulling info from them is good in theory but rarely worked in practice. Bad info would get pulled in and I'd have to edit. It would drop vendor names and I'd have to re-enter. (oh, and towards the end it wouldn't save edits I made to vendor names, either, and then it would kick back payments because the vendor name was incomplete!) I could choose to not upload invoices, but then sometimes payment would fail because there was no invoice! Overall maddening.

### "A simple ach solution "

It’s a really positive experience. I use it and recommend it.

Pros

The ease of use is what I like best about melio. It took no time to setup the account, connect it to my bank and get going. It’s allows you to pay vendors and collect their Banking info in one place. That’s my favorite part.

Cons

My least favorite part is that it doesn’t appear to create 1099 from the platform though it’s listed in the features. If you can, it’s really tough to find so simplifying that would be helpful.

It improved an entire process that required more attention and more hours of work. By being able to automate processes, it has made it more efficient and more detailed.

Pros

Melio has been a very secure application for making on-time payments to all suppliers without any issues and with precise dates. With reminders, you can always be up to date. It improved the entire invoicing process by having an accurate order of payments sent and received. It allows me to group invoices into a single payment, which has allowed me to speed up the process and avoid having to make payments one by one. I like all of its tools, and they fit everything I needed.

Cons

It has met my needs without any issues. It has provided me with the necessary service, and I have never felt dissatisfied.

### "Simple way to make payments"

It makes the whole process of paying bills easier and spending hours entering data. It is quite useful for making online payments very quickly.

Pros

We have managed to make bill payment faster and easier with Melio, making payments to clients in a timely manner. Previously, bill payments were made one by one and this took hours due to the complexity of entering data. Now I only have to upload the bills and Melio does everything for me. I like it because it does the boring work of entering data.

Cons

I don't think anything went wrong. The only thing I would change is the customer service because they don't provide fast service.

Setting up an account, entering vendors, and paying invoices is extremely easy. People who have to use more "corporate" systems in larger companies even said, I wish I could use this for my work. You should see what I have to put up with.

We started using Melio when they integrated with Quickbooks Online and they made it so simple to pay our high-cost vendors quickly; after the integration ended, we found them on their own and have been ecstatic that the separate site functions almost exactly like it did in Quickbooks. It's truly one of the best payment systems I have.

Pros

How quickly it connects with our Intuit account, which meant that I didn't need to load every single bill in our system into Melio so I could start payments to vendors.

Cons

I do not have any cons with my use of Melio.

### "Customer Service is not good - Service is inconsistent"

Overall experience is that they are inconsistent and have poor customer service. Not a company or software that can be relied upon.

Pros

I like that they offer the same day vendor payment for a reasonable fee. I also like the check payment option in the event a signer is not available.

Cons

Just a buyer beware, avoid same day payments, the vendor does not receive funds when promised and they still take their money out of your bank account for the same day service.When we pay the same day processing fee it is a 50/50 shot if it makes it to your vendor the same day. Their customer service reps make excuse after excuse and attempt to blame the customer. They ask for screen shots proving what you are saying and even when provided they blame the customer. Unfortunately this exact same interaction has occurred at least 3 different times, paying different vendors, and reaching out to customer service and being treated and spoken to the same way. They also will not refund the fees when there is a service failure. They just say, \[sensitive content hidden\] but nothing is ever done and you will have to contact your bank if you or your vendor would like a refund. Even with the receipts they request they do not care even telling me that I should have read their policy article before using their service. We won't be using any paid methods of payment with Melio any longer because sadly they are at best dishonest in what they charge for and they don't see any problem with the way in which they do business.

Cost and the ability to same day pay vendors. Sadly since that is the part they are failing at it was the incorrect choice for our company.

### "Absolute HELL. Stay AWAY!! Horrible, horrible, horrible."

First hopeful. Then confused. Later frustrated and anger. Now disgust and acceptance. Overall a very negative experience when dealing a payment processing service.

Pros

It’s free, it’s advertised nicely, but there are actual NO pros because they are not a professional service.

Cons

Customer support is a joke. They responded to my email with 1 sentence that was so vague, I didn’t have any idea what they had requested from me. In summary, they discrimate against sole proprietorships, freelancers, contractors, and self-employees persons. They specify say that they DON’T do this and think that makes everything okay. That’s why I say this is not a professional service. They are fishing for high volume businesses so they can make money on credit card processing. They are dishonest in their advertising. I am being put out and payments are being delayed due to this weird and terrible company. It’s all a con.

### "No Longer An Asset to My Clients or Practice"

Terrible!!

Pros

There is absolutely nothing I like about Melio anymore. This payment service is not ideal. Most of my clients do not use it. And for the one's who do, I am working to remove them from the platform.

Cons

Melio declines all expedited payments no matter the amount. Payments that they used to allow to be expedited that have not changed in dollar amounts or vendors, or payment accounts, are all of a sudden being declined consistently causing issues for my clients and causing my payments to be late. Again I am working to remove the remaining few from this platform and encouraging them to use other AP platforms that come with bill pay or simply use their banks. So far I've removed 13 clients and I now need to remove 4 more and I can be done with the nightmare.

Pros

It's like the best bank bill pay ever! Easy to set up recurring payments and see delivery times.

Cons

Wishlist - if it integrated fully with Wave Invoicing, that would be cool, and that would provide an entirely free connected workflow.

### "Great system"

It has been great, my only cons are relatively minor issues, and the system is very useful for my business.

Pros

Melio is a great payment processor, I have a much better experience with them than with their only real competition, Plastiq. While Plastiq has IRS-esque customer service, Melio really go out of their way to ensure a positive user experience. Melio is also faster at processing ACH payments, which is a huge plus.

Cons

It would be really helpful if Melio offered wire transfers, and aggregate payments (ie, charge 10k to card 1 and 10k to card 2 so as to issue a single payment of 20k). Also, sometimes compliance reviews cause payment delays. They could perhaps offer a cut off before which compliance reviews will not cause delays if the review is passed, that would make the system have more reliable timing.

### "Lost our Money"

We received notices from Melio for client scheduled payments for $2100 and $455 on \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]. They were both in the list "In-Progress" on the Melio site/dashboard. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] we alerted by one client payment was rejected for no apparent reason (they paid ach) ($455). The other payment for $2100 and totally disappeared from the system - not in anywhere in the Melio dashboard (Paid, In -Progress, unsent or sent). I have grave concerns about their ability to handle transactions. I attempted to contact support but you cannot call - only chat or email and they are of course closed on the weekend. 1 star is for issues as well as lack of ability to contact them for urgent issues like this. This product while I had very high hopes still seems VERY BETA. Not going to gamble my money to help another company test their code.

Pros

Low cost, simplicity of system, integration with QuickBooks online

Cons

Support is a challenge. Software is unstable and buggy. Clients are declined for ACH - not sure how or why and payments just disappear ? Product is more beta than stable release.

### "Great Small Business Payment Tool"

Pros

I love being able to pay vendors electronically with no major costs. Yes, there are fees when you need to pay by check or quickly but if you are in a regular rhythm it's a great free tool to use!

Cons

I have no complaints, seriously. Melio does exactly what I need and want it to do and does it well.

Reason for choosing Melio

I couldn't find another product that matches their capabilities at this price point.

### "No Support - You Get A Lot Of Promises, But No Action"

Absolutely the worst customer service. Why? because there isn't any. I have been trying since Dec to resolve an issue and it just keeps getting worse. The last straw was when I deleted my account and re entered it only to be connected to a former clients account that I have no access to at all. There was a 2 week period that I called every single day and left a message and never did I receive a call back. Just the worst! I've been on a chat with them this morning and they just stopped responding after a few minutes. So frustrating

Pros

it worked great until you have a problem then everything comes to a complete stop with no help

Cons

Support, there isn't any. They suspended a clients account but didn't notify us. When I finally reached someone who could help, I was told what to do and still nothing. This happened in Nov 2021 and still no resolution. I tried to delete my account and sign up again and it connected to a QB account that I have no affiliation with which is scary. They said they would look into it and nothing yet Four months later and nothing but empty promises

Reason for choosing Melio

because it was offered through QBO and I thought it would be a great solution to client's asking if certain bills were paid instead of emailing me. It worked great until it didn't and hasn't for over 4 months with no support
