La sencillez, si excesivas funcionalidades, su nombre le hace honor. Un plugin que funciona muy bien para esas primeras descargas digitales. Además disponen de plantillas adaptadas y personalizadas propias que van muy bien. Si el proyecto crece mucho quizás se pueda quedar algo corto.

Cons

La personalización del marketing es limitada, como también lo es algunas integraciones, hecho de menos muchas de ellas. Las plantillas pro que disponen están muy bien, pero ofrece una personalización adicional limitado.

Just as the name goes, likewise this application is very easy to use. You can easily integrate it into applications like WordPress. It has numerous extensions and addons to use and is compatible with many popular payment methods.

Cons

Not suitable for physical products which I will really like to use.

Mi experiencia con EDD es muy buena. Estoy muy contento despues de lanzar varias web con este plugin

Pros

Me gusta mucho porque es un plugin sencillo y que tiene todo para montar una tienda en linea de productos digitales.

Cons

Lo que no me gusta es que no se integra al 100% con temas de bloques. Se requiere habilidades técnicas para personalizar el tema.

Has been great. Does what it needs to do and very easy to operate. Has paid for itself many times over. Implemented customer reviews a couple of years ago, which has improved sales.

Pros

Since I only sell a handful of digital products (spreadsheet templates), I wanted something simple and inexpensive, but effective. EDD fit the bill. When I started using it 5 years ago, it was a little buggy, but it now pretty bulletproof and has a lot more features and add-ons.

Cons

When first launched several years ago, I got too many sales that did not complete for one reason or another, but this is no longer a problem. Biggest issues has been integrating with 3rd-party email program. Somewhat tricky for non-programmer.

Reasons for choosing Easy Digital Downloads

Simpler and less expensive than alternatives I looked at for digital-only product.

Easy Digital Downloads es el plugin de wordpress de venta de este tipo de productos por excelencia, lo usamos en los proyectos que solo van a requerir este tipo de productos y no va a tener venta de productos fisicos, es un plugin que además tiene extensiones para amplicar funcionalidades y no sobre carga la web, para nosotros un 10

Cons

El mayor problema desde mi punto de vista es que tienes que tener muy claro que no vas a vender productos físicos, ya que este plugin es para venta de productos que no requiera un envío. Por otro lado este plugin como indico, algunas funcionalidades como por ejemplo el pago por stripe, paypal o pagos recurrentes, requiere la compra de addons

EDD is getting updates regularely, if a bug was found they pretty quickly gave you an bugfix or put in the next update version and support threads are answered pretty quickly. It's very lightweight but extremely powerful, so i will continue to use it.

Pros

I have looked in to multiple WordPress Plugins, but i immediately stuck to Easy Digital Downloads ("EDD") as in their completely free version everything is always perfectly included. I was able to enter PayPal and Stripe as Payment Processors without additional software and setting up files for sale and download is incredibly easy. Setting up a product from start to be able to sell it takes less than a minute, if the general settings are set.

Cons

Nothing, quite frankly. From the minute i activated the plugin on my WordPress Hosting until the second i was able to sell and distribute downloads it took me all-in-all maybe 10 Minutes.

Reasons for choosing Easy Digital Downloads

It's the only one of the Plugins i found where everything absolutely needed is already included, even in the free version. For me that was the tracking of downloads, allowing a somewhat anonymous download option and having both PayPal and Stripe included as Payment Processors.

We are using the EDD for almost 5+ years and using it continuously. We never face any issues related to Security, Product Management. Only I have concerns related to Return order management and sometimes the Extension related issues from 3rd party vendors. But overall it's worth it to use for Medium scale businesses.

Pros

EDD has everything you need for Digital Products. They have lots of Extensions which are suitable for your Product needs. Thumbs up for these - Easy Interface, Reports, Order Management, Review, Product Management, Discounts, SEO.

Cons

Maybe Migration from WooCommerce or any other Digital Store needs a workaround for EDD. The pricing is somehow expensive for those who just started out their career or a small business owner. But it also depends on your business strategies.

WooCommerce is more likely for Physical products like Clothing, Bags, Electronics....Yes, it has the Digital Product options but the management for the Digital Product is a quite terrific experience for us. I strongly suggest to no use WooCommerce for Digital Products. Also, you will not find your desire product settings in WooCommerce.

Reasons for choosing Easy Digital Downloads

Gumroad is direct alternatives to EDD. Because it has much convenient to use compare to EDD. As, EDD relies on WordPress you will find lots of issues like Speed, Security, Updates etc...but in GumRoad these are never happen. But in Gumroad you can't customize your store freedom like in EDD. Like Design, Email Integration, Customer Management, etc...

I have been using this plugin since 2014. My experience overall has been great. Bought the Amazon S3 and Mailchimp plugins to improve my store. I used mostly to sell video specials and using paypal only as a payment method. Renewing the license every year might be quite expensive, even with the discount for old customers. A cheaper basic license with one-time purchase for small businesses would be great

I liked the easy integration with WordPress and being able to customize from the very beginning without no previous knowledge.

Cons

I think it's quite expensive when you want to add some of the addons available after installing the free plugin
