Pros: I used to think Workfront was terrible, until I tried other enterprise level project management software. I'm not saying it's the best, far from it, but I think you start to appreciate it more after you realize what a herculean task it is to track everything. It does a decent job of letting you know what you're responsible for, with helpful email notifications so you don't need to always be in the tool. And once you get those notifications it's easy to respond directly in email or link to the project/task at hand and respond or make changes there. The really killer feature is the proofing tool, which despite some grumbling is one of the best out there. It allows commenting and markups of all types and allows you to do so in context. It also does versioning of the proofs, which is super helpful to go back to to remember what was marked up prior or changed. All in all it gets the job done but it's not particularly a pleasure to use, other than the proofing tool.

Cons: Not the most user friendly or aesthetic. The dashboard could use some better UX. I tried out a beta of the new dashboard and that was even worse, glad they didn't roll it out. The one big negative is the lack of a proper calendar module. I heard that one exists but for version my company uses, we don't have anything remotely resembling a calendar view. This is so helpful to me to get a view of milestones and deadlines coming up, without having to do the mental gymnastics of looking at a list view of tasks and figuring out what my priorities are. While the proofing tool is amazing (see pros) it does have a couple of missing features. One is the ability to mark comments as completed or resolved without having to do a response, and the only is to somehow create a linear history and relationship of the markups through the versioning system, so you see the evolution of them. Also, the whole idea of creating percentages done of a task seems so arbitrary to me. Even my company doesn't take much stock in it. We basically leave things at 0% until we absolutely need to mark things as 100% complete in order to not risk being at risk or to move on to the next task that's dependent on the prior one.

Pros: I have been a Workfront user for a few years now and am a big proponent of this project management tool for several reasons.

1) I find it very intuitive for users to use

2) It is easily customized based on the needs of your users

3) The reporting feature is worth the price of admission itself

4) Their support team is quick to respond and the self-help area is robust so you can find an answer to any question you may come across

5) Workfront offers a comprehensive training tool that covers several types and levels of training for users at all levels including frequent live trainings

6) The Community area is a great place to share ideas and ask for help from other users

7) They are constantly making updates and improvements to the tool

8) The Workfront Proof viewer is a great feature for those who want to markup and share creative within a project.

We looked at several solutions and I'd say that Workfront was by far the best option for our internal creative agency.

Cons: Setting up can be time consuming if you don't already have a process in place. Do your homework and dedicate the time to do it right before launch or else user adoption can be difficult. Plan on user adoption to be your biggest hurdle as people are uncomfortable with change. Make the Workfront trainings mandatory before use.

Overall: It helps us save time when it comes to resource allocation and time management. The reporting features helps upper-management better understand what we are doing and how much time it takes to do it. I love how they are constantly pushing updates that help improve the tool based on user feedback.

Complete and powerful PM information system with some areas to improve

Comments: Working in an in-house marketing department, we have been using Workfront for three years to manage our projects and operations. We need overall visibility on all the activities of our department, plus a powerful collaboration platform. Our main aim using Workfront is to manage the capacity vs workload of our department and to be able to forecast the demand. Workfront is fulfilling our basic needs, but we feel that there is a lack of ability to create clear dashboards or to have a better visibility of critical task between multiple projects at the same time (which happens when several campaigns overlap). There are other points to improve (see Cons below), but it seems that folks at Workfront are committed to improve those areas and correct the product weaknesses.

Pros: Logging hours is not painful (as it actually sounds), there are several choices to input them and it¿s quite easy to get used to the habit. The collaboration features are very good: comments, sharing if documents, approvals... Work requests via assignments are clear and provide accountability. Integrated document proofing and versioning is a must for any creative department and this one works really well. Workfront support is quick and responses are elaborated, always providing a workaround if there isn't a functionality to match your need.

Cons: Reporting is a bit limited; while basic reporting is completely fulfilled and you can present the information in clear graphs, when you try to create complex relations (historic vs forecast, capacity vs demand) things get more complicated, there are limitations and you need workarounds to obtain the desired (or closest to the desired) information. Sharing of information is cumbersome; although you can send automatic reports by email, it's difficult to distribute more elaborated pieces of information. Resource management is limited; there are tools in the system, but they are not intuitive and are a legacy of previous versions of the system. Learning curve is steep, it doesn't take much time to get familiarised with the common request-collaborate actions (which most of the users will do), but it needs much time and training to carry out actual project management processes within the system.

I was hesitant, but I'm a believer

Pros: Workfront is quite versatile for tracking projects and larger workflows. We use it for individual projects, ongoing work efforts, and even tracking ideas for future development. Other areas of our business use it as a request queue as well, which helps us to put in requests with our communication team and even log suggestions for office improvements. A decent (but not mindblowing) reporting suite with text and simple graphic output helps share status updates.

Cons: The reporting suite could allow for a bit more freedom; it feels slightly stilted when trying to use it. I also was not a fan of the option to have the software tell you that you're on track or behind. I prefer to assign the status myself as I'm involved with the project more intimately and have more of the big picture. Fortunately that's easily changeable in the project settings. The real cons are honestly self-induced. The temptation is there to track all the minutiae of every little bit of the project. And you certainly can... but it ends up being counterproductive as you spend more time updating than doing. Keep your items lofty and you'll avoid that trap.

Overall: I'll admit... they sort of had to drag me kicking and screaming into using Workfront. I feared that it was going to be one of those things where it took more time to document/track what you're doing than it took to actually do it. Fortunately that turned out not to be the case. We've found a good balance between tracking things and not having to "feed the beast" all the time.

Pros: It is very configurable and encompasses the best of both worlds: the traditional project management structure (the project has a life of its own and contains many different kinds of objects), along with lighter object-oriented workflow (comments and approvals associated with specific documents). My product team is very responsive and I've had really great experiences with the remote consultants and help desk. Service is really excellent.

Cons: Given the crazy pace of my daily reality, I wouldn't mind a slower rate of change on the product itself. Change is a good thing, and most of them are good, but it changes so frequently that it feels like my team just gets used to the new features and ways of interacting with the product, and then it changes again. Among the things I like LEAST: -it is impossible to expose the actual file name of new document versions. I can't understand why this is so hard. It should be an option to keep your file naming conventions that are relevant to other systems and are relied on by many users, and still take advantage of the versions features. -you should be able to be notified when there is a new version added. Again, this one baffles me. - You should be able to mark a communication URGENT somehow, or set a recurring reminder that can automatically nag people for a response.

Recommendations to other buyers: A lot of vendors say they have 'workflow' capabilities, even if it ONLY the ability to comment on a document. Make sure you know what a full project management product is, and then look at all the permutations. Pay special attention to the important details that it is critical for you to be able to customize. For example, if email notifications need to have a customizable message or subject line, ask those questions. Also, what recourse do you have when the system goes down (which happens). Absent having a full local copy of your database, you should at least be able to send yourself the current active projects lists so that you are not TOTALLY dead in the water during an event. Basic contingency planning becomes extremely important.

Pros: The work tracking, communication and reporting capabilities. Reporting is a misnomer because it's more of a screen view that allows you to dive deeper into the report and the objects in the report. The Communication methods of being able to comment on objects and allow people to respond via email and still append the reply as a log in the object has been a big win for us. Even naysayers now love the product in our organization. The reporting is so powerful I instruct users to develop their dream scenario and I can usually deliver what they want.

Cons: From time to time it can get glitchy. They've made great improvements on this over the years and I've had the same issue with other products too (i.e. MS Project used to crash on me once a day). But for the complexity of the product and all the functionality it delivers, it's a very small percentage of time that this occurs.

Overall: It allowed our IT department to go from 5 products to track our work (ITSM, Assana, TFS, MS Project, and Spiratest) to one product where we use it for our Helpdesk, Projects, Agile Teams, Test Cases, and results, and many many dashboards and reports to gauge how we're doing. Now we're able to track our work and if the work belongs to another team we can pass it along without having to recreate it in another tool. The communication function is also been a success for us.

Using Workfront has made us better.

Pros: The interface and usability of the product is second to none. We've been using the software since 2009, choosing it because of the easy-to-use interface. The product has gone through numerous redesigns of the interface, and things have just gotten easier with each release. Our users really like it, and there is a quick turnaround in terms of getting started and using the product. The functionality of the software also gives us more than just a shared Gantt chart for projects. It really has given us the ability to manage all our work and be more productive.

Cons: The vendor assigns customer success coordinators (CSCs) to each customer which is basically an account rep. The company itself has gone through various leadership changes, and as a result there has been many reorganizations of the staff. As a result, we have had many different CSCs and really have not had the opportunity to get to know our representative and our representative getting to know us well. Everyone has been great, but the inconsistency on account reps gets frustrating.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are many different products out there and many of them have the same type of functionality. It really is a matter of getting into the system and trying it out to see what is the easiest to use and what your users will want to use and bring them the most value. When we evaluated products, we negotiated extended demos (some for a fee) so that we could get into the products for a few weeks and really see if we can pick it up easily, if our users will pick it up easily, and if it will provide us the functionality we need. My recommendation is to try and get extended demos to really get into the software and try using it for some of your real life projects. Seeing a vendor led demo or online videos only get you part of the story. Getting in there and getting your feet wet gives you the rest.

My experience with Workfront has been fantastic.

Pros: The software is extremely intuitive, very interactive and intelligently designed. It supports the many different approaches to work management and is highly flexible. The API also provides endless opportunity for enterprise integrations. The reporting is very powerful. The training offerings are extremely useful. Quarterly roadmap webinars provide administrators with a great overview of future functionality. The vendor is great to work with. The sales reps, client success consultants, delivery consultants, trainers and support staff are all very helpful in working through issues until they are resolved. Progress on requests is highly visible through their requests interface. The response times for all types of requests, whether direct email or within the support site, are responded to in a timely fashion.

Cons: I least like the fact that the product was rebranded. I also do not like some of the limitations of the amounts of data that can be reported out of the system. While the reporting interface is very powerful, the application struggles to provide reports when large amounts of data are being reported on. The sandbox environments are very slow, which results in very little use of them. If they performed well, they would be used much more by our users and administrators for testing. Regarding the vendor, I sometimes feel like there are known issues, bugs or limitations within the software that should be addressed.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be sure to plan and communicate far beyond simple project and portfolio management. Have a thorough understanding of both the short-term and long-term goals and be sure to thoroughly explore solutions before proceeding with purchasing the application.

Pros: It has broad functionality and follow typical project management flows and tools such as agile and different project views.

It is rich enough to run complex projects and you can simplify it to make it easier to use for users that have no or limited project management experience.

The system administrator can do most, if not all, configuration so you keep control of the system in-house without needing consultancy.

I particularly like that you can report on all fields in the system, even against custom forms, so if you have a non-standard project need you can report on it.

Cons: Out of the box there are no templates or workflows, which means you start from scratch. There would be nice to have had some basic flows to start with.

Some of my colleagues in the marketing team found the broad functionality, needing to access different screens to do different work, quite intimidating. This can be solved with custom dashboards, but as a project management tool designed for marketers (who don't usually have project management training) having an out of the box 'simplified view' would be good.

Overall: Having a singe route for the marketing operations team (our internal agency) to take in work has created more structured, more consistent intake so work can be assessed more easily. It has completely stopped requests getting stuck in peoples email inboxes or sent to the wrong person.

We now also have greater visibility of projects and requests. Can asses the type and volume of work so we can schedule resources easier and plan for future recruitment better.

Pros: It is a really cool tool. There are many features and so much functionality available. The best thing is the ability to collaborate within the system. Using static project management tools like

project can cause issue with static information or mulitple versions of a plan floating about, but with a tool like this one, you have real-time project data. You also have the ability to capture custom data and the best feature is the ability to report on this data real-time.

Cons: There are a lot of features, functionality and configuration in this software. It provides solutions to so many problems and provides value, but you MUST have super users and sys admins to help maintain support and user adoption. This is not something that is easily onboarded in a day or two. It will take careful and thoughtful planning to configure, onboard, train and then support.

Overall: Data! It provides the ability to capture so much data and then visualize it via report that it changed our organizational culture from rear facing to forward facing. We now make decisions that can impact future outcomes opposed to reviewing what happened last quarter, which we have no control over now.

Comments: The support is unparalleled. Our technical, sales, Customer care team was awesome. I would say I had to use them too much, but they were great every time. Can't commend them enough for the efforts to help us. I'd say a large piece of why we stayed with WF was because of their support team. It's almost like having so many options within the tool became counter-productive. If it maintained a more unique personality, and did more consulting to help clients adjust their processes to the tool, somewhat, I think there would have been more of a win for us. Our processes were fairly simple and we got all caught up in the bells and whistles of the tool. It could very well be that the tool wasn't right for us; I didn't have any say in the decision-making process.

Pros: The Ease of building reports; Getting the data out of the tool is really easy. The ability to format reports the way you want to see the data is very useful too. The UI is very easy to navigate, and easy on the eyes - not so busy and crowded on any one page, which I appreciate.

Cons: Way too complex, too many moving parts, too many hard-coded definitions for tasks, groups, teams, roles, etc. The backend of WF is exhausting. I, more or less, had 2 admins that had to manage the tool for the company. I don't take off TOO much for this, as the company was very lazy in using the tool. However, part of that laziness was because of the complexity of doing simple tasks within the tool.

Comments: We are using WorkFront for about 2 years now and is very pleased with the functionality and feature set it provides to meet our needs to manage Workfront takes time and effort to implement, but anything worthwhile should. Workfront's team has been very helpful to us and really cares that we earn a win for our team. I am an end user of Workfront within teams. Workfront helps me keep on track with all my work, tracking progress and deadlines to ensure all work is delivered efficiently and on time.

Pros: Customization and Small Duration to be built and including good tools for Project Management In case of owning a lot of tasks on daily basis: Workfront is the best for monitoring and follow up Including all the required Reports for Top Management Very Good Support Team Always upgrading and adding new features and reports

Cons: I couldn't reach how to automate prioritizing projects and assigning project, I am searching for this feature currently Company should have a process before using this software else it will not add anything to the work flow Higher Cost than other simpler software's companies Hard to get team members to update data consistently, which impacts project status/reporting

I think that Workfront is a very innovative system - I think there are some missing pieces too.

Pros: I like that Workfront is pretty easy to navigate, I also like the new front with integrations coming into play. I like how easy it is to do reporting and leverage reports into dashboards.

Cons: I do not like the lack of ability to customize user instances. I would prefer to hide everything that a user does not need to see or use to make it way more basic. Right now, the system is not structured to do this by user only by group or permission settings. I think it's also annoying to have current-pending projects not be an option to show on the legacy gnatt and it's a pretty easy feature. I'd also like to see more development with roles and skillsets not the basic settings for primary and secondary roles. I'm happy to hear that the help desk will be restructuring requests going to specific topics such as reporting. I have used the help desk before and have found it frustrating that the consultant I am assigned does not have the knowledge to address my concern/question and I get passed along through the pipe until I reach someone who can. I'd like to see development in reporting more.

Pros: The overall interface and system is very intuitive to use. One of the most effective parts has been the clear segmentation of each project into separate tasks with individual deadlines and approval steps. This has helped with allocating the best person to work on each task which has resulted in the whole team working more efficiently. The approval process is a useful feature that allows the correct senior staff to confirm the work is complete and has been checked. Additionally, Workfront have been very helpful in implementing suggestions to make the system work better for us and our working processes by implementing suggestions for new functionality. They have also been very proactive in training and getting feedback for new ideas to make the software even better.

Cons: Setting up the system has taken a very long time to implement within our business. I understand this is mainly down to the speed at which our business incorporates change and that Workforce has been integrated with existing systems and software we already have in place. The resourcing tool has not been ideal for our working practices and we are needing to do further work before this tool can be fully used - but Workfront are working with us to implement new features that will enable us to use this in the future.

Recommendations to other buyers: Keep it simple. Break things down, but not too much... the system allows for every possible combination as it is very flexible, but we have seen issues with making tasks too detailed, resulting in workflows that are not generic enough to be re-used. Think through the steps and work processes you are trying to track and how they are broken down into manageable and similar sized sub-tasks. Training for users is really important. Our biggest learning curve was identifying how, why and when to use the features, how to mark progress etc has been key to the whole team working coherently.

Pros: What really differentiates WorkFront from the competition is how well it communicates with the project team as changes are made. Basic reporting is almost trivial - I create reports and extracts for people while they wait. We can schedule reports and automate the communication of critical information. It also provides the project structure we need to model our portfolios, programs, and projects - that helps us keep clear lines of responsibility in projects.

Cons: It is not the strongest role-based infinite capacity planner I've seen. It does a great job of user utilization analysis, but not role-based capacity planning. There are also some data objects that cannot be reported on, which just means we have to get creative.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you are evaluating project management software, be sure to compare like with like. With WorkFront, you get portfolio and project management, you get automated status communication, a simple-to-use reporting engine, integrated timesheet functionality, and out-of-the-box support for Agile projects. Be sure that what you compare WorkFront to has those features too. Also, consider the impact to the culture of your business when the level of communication about projects - all the good and all the bad - increases. If you have PMs who like to keep secrets on their projects, they may not like the increased visibility WorkFront allows. There is a cultural impact of making project progress and status information more readily accessible, so be sure your business is ready to have a transparent project environment.

Happy so far!

Pros: The product is very easy to use and most of tools provided are easily used or ignored if your companies processes and workflows don't need them. The Workfront consultants we've worked with so far have been great. They're all accommodating and want us to be successful. And the resources we can look at on our own without needing to talk to someone are also pretty great. The videos or schedule training sessions are helpful in giving high-level overviews of the software and how things work. The company also pushes upgrades to the software on a regular basis. I've seen several great improvements come across that tweak how easy it is to do things in the system.

Cons: Lot's of small nit-picky things. There are bugs here and there but they've been pretty minor and solved by the Workfront teams pretty quickly. The help articles are less helpful as they're fairly generic and don't specifically describe what fields will do/won't do. A lot of that has come through trial an error. Example, there's a required field for Group when you set up a project in the system. The Help Article alludes to this helping share access to the project with that group. Come to find out, this field doesn't do anything at all. The tool has just been upgraded and improved a couple times and the help articles aren't up-to-date to tell you any of that.

Recommendations to other buyers: Workfront is definitely not going to be the cheapest solution for you. However, of the 25+ different vendors we looked through in 2013, this was the best choice for adoption across the agency. That was more important than getting a cheaper product that would require more training and support time. Definitely evaluate other products and see which ones provide you the tools you need and will be adoptable across your company.

Pros: I absolutely love the user interface and the ability to customize layouts to display exactly the information my users need to get their work done efficiently. Allowing field editing inside views and dashboards is pure genius. Creating custom forms is easy and gives me the flexibility to collect all of the information needed for tasks, issues, projects, requests, etc., and the ability to update these as my company evolves. Reporting is very powerful and we are now using charts and graphs to quickly identify projects and tasks that need attention. Customer support and other services like training, webinars, consulting, user forums, etc. are all top rate. LEAP 2015 was truly impressive and I highly recommend attending LEAP 2016 (I know I'm looking forward to it!)

Cons: Nothing major comes to mind. There were a few UI-related features that I felt were missing, but the most important ones (to me) have been addressed. Occasionally there are some minor bugs after a software upgrade, but they are always fixed very quickly.

Recommendations to other buyers: Ensure you have someone who has the time to learn the system and administer it properly. The software is very configurable and spending some time optimizing it for your business processes will increase adoption and value. The software is great, but it's important that everyone uses it properly, which means a good understanding of requirements, use cases, etc. should be made before implementation.

Pros: Being able to track the approvals on a document is amazing. Prior to Workfront we were keeping track of this via emails and CCing everyone and their supervisors to get responses. Now the system says in "black and white" where approvals are at for all of our documents. I also really like the ability to re-assign tasks to team members on the fly when someone is out sick or preparing to go on vacation. Since I am one of our system administrators I have access to the help desk and the service I have received for the few issues I have submitted has been attentive and friendly. I also like that Workfront encourages their customers to submit product ideas.

Cons: I'm still learning the product - I'm by no means an expert at this point, but one of the items myself and my fellow admins have been struggling with is the process of developing templates and learning/teaching resources for this are limited. If this aspect of the product was a little more simplified, we could be even more productive.

Recommendations to other buyers: 1) Make sure your process flows are well-documented before purchasing any product like this. If you do not have your processes mapped out, this tool will not be as beneficial to you right away. 2) Take into consideration upfront who will be using this product in your organization, and understand how you will be supporting new areas of the company/employees that use the tool. Does the product make it easy for you to do site delegation in the fashion your company wants to do? 3) As part of your evaluation, consider how much time your implementation team has to dedicate to getting your product set up and getting educated. Our experience with Workfront is that they required us to be educated at a certain level about the product before they came on site and it was very valuable, but you need to ensure you are willing and able to dedicate this time.

Pros: When a whole team is using this tool it allows for seamless progress without having to send mundane and repetitive emails throughout the day. You can track progress, assign tasks to people, upload documents, fill out necessary custom forms and then generate reports from said forms and tasks. It's easily customize able so you can manage and alter templates; also you can mess around in Sandbox which will allow you to try and "break the system" without harming of the already completed work. There are a lot of tools that I've yet to discover in WorkFront, but the live updates that are published company-wide is a great indirect communication tool.

Cons: WorkFront can be very slow to update and laggy. Once a template exceeds the 400 task mark, the overall program will start to slow. Also, when altering dates the program can be very slow to update and sometimes I'll need to "Recalculate Timeline" just to see if my edit had saved. I've also heard that it is quite pricey for my company (even though I don't pay for it personally), Smartsheets I've heard is cheaper.

Comments: The Workfront system is great and is pretty intuitive to use. I've had folks around the office call it the Facebook of project management tools and it is to some degree. If your users can use Facebook, they'll be able to figure out how to use this system. The greater burden will always be on your plan license users (hopefully your project managers) to learn the ins and outs of what they can accomplish with the tool. It has a lot of features and can be customized greatly.

Pros: Lots of features and can be customized through the use of custom forms, custom intake processes and reporting tools that allow you to pull pretty much any piece of information you want to see. These reports can also be tailored to specific user groups so they see just what you want them to see or what they have specific access to see. Tasking is handled pretty easily and is aggregated for each user on their My Work page. Depending on work style and workload (# of tasks) I'd highly recommend educating folks to keep their Working On area clean and only pick up new requests as they can begin working on them.

Cons: The current iteration of the resourcing tools need some additional polish. The tool is currently built in flash and per discussions with some consultants there are 2 separate flash pieces that don't always talk to each other very well. We're waiting on additional upgrades the company is planning on making to see how we can best utilize these and report on the information they collect. There's a great grid report for showing availability across users and job roles but it is also built in flash so it's not customizable - it would be extremely valuable if it were something you could tailor and customize while retaining the grid view.

Workfront is a good tool for managing agile development projects, but it has some flaws.

Pros: I really like the detail I can store in each card. Although the UI leaves a little to be desired, I like the display of communication, important information you can add to the card, and the related issues, hours, etc. I also like how the "assign to" window only takes a small amount of room on the screen, and is collapsible. Most programs devote too much space to this information, and it is important, but doesn't need a lot of real estate.

The flow of progress and burndown charts are useful when looking at it from a sprint view. Although I haven't used it this way, I could see the tool being useful for Program Management.

Cons: The search functionality is really bad. The results are not intuitive, and it can be very difficult to find anything. We have taken to putting in all cards with a naming structure in order to make it better, and it barely makes a difference. In most cases, unless I am lucky, I have to export to Excel or CSV and search from there in order to locate the card I'm looking for and then do a more direct search back in Workfront. This issue alone would keep me from committing to Workfront long term for my project management app.

Workfront has really improved the way we work and helps get things done.

Comments: We started our PMO in 2009, needing a way to get a handle on our project intake and help define our project management methodology. We purchased Workfront (formerly AtTask) back then and have been happily using it ever since. The initial implementation was quick. Getting the system configured and putting users in there was the easy part. Being a new PMO and going through the motions of defining our process was the hard part. Workfront made it a little easier because allowed us to have a starting point and the basis of best practices. The tool is easy to use, so flexible, and has really improved the way we work. Its been so effective for us at the University that usage has expanded from just our Technology department to 5 other groups and that number keeps on growing. The technical support has been great when we needed it, the company has listened to customer's suggestions as well as trends in the industry, and the adoption for the tool has been steady, really becoming an essential tool for every day work. There are many PPM tools out there, all doing much of the same core functions, but Workfront has the edge when it comes to usability. Things in the software just make sense, and work. Its that simple.

Pros - The system is highly configurable, can match your process and methodology - usability is top notch. The user interface makes sense and is easy to get used to - if you've thought about it, its probably in the software. If its not, you can request it and be sure that the company is listening and it might make it into the next release. - manages much more than just projects, it manages all of your stuff.

Cons - The company has gone through immense growth in the last 6 years so there has been instability in our customer support success manager, (not the technical support). We've had several different of these account managers over the years. - the license price changed as the software grew and caught us off guard (although the company was great and negotiated with us and was very accommodating - there is an API that allows you to connect and integrate other software into the tool, which is great, but there isn't great documentation or training on how to do it for beginners.

PROS:

Logging hours is not painful, there are several choices to input them.

CONS:

Reporting is a bit limited; while basic reporting is completely fulfilled and you can present the information in clear graphs, when you try to create complex relations (historic vs forecast, capacity vs demand) things get more complicated, there are limitations and you need workarounds to obtain the desired (or closest to the desired) information.

Pros: Workfront can be integrated with other systems you already use for maximum cross-functioning. Also the reporting and metrics are out of this world, I've reported on things I didn't even know we captured.

Cons: WorkFront does has it's limits and some of them are only found after you start diving deeper into the system. Also it can be hard to find where some things are, seem to be a little hidden. Also some features don't exist that should.

Overall: My team uses WorkFront exclusively to manage roughly 4000+ projects a year. I absolutely love that the system is so robust that we can built and customize it to anything we desire. However the ideas we have sometimes are so grand that we find ourselves running into new problems (high class problems). Fortunately the WorkFront Support team is amazing and they assist whenever we run into a pickle. They even provide better ways for efficiency and easier solutions

Recommendations to other buyers: There should be a way to have document comments appear on the project or issue level. Issues that have been converted to a project should no longer be able to be commented on or edited, this way project managers don't have to monitor them after moving on.

Pros: Very high communication capabilities: very advanced tools for designing and customizing dahsboards.

Strong capabilities in defining customized forms (custom data)

Vey advanced API interface (we used them to interface Workfront with 4 different products)

Powerful setup capabilities which are really great.

The product is very felxible and can match any kinds of project types.

Cons: The learning curve is quite high if you want to take benefit of all the powerful capabilities.

The product has currently two GANTT charts (a legacy one which has an advanced graphical designer built in Flash with no evolution, and a new one in HTML). The new one is simple and promising but needs further graphical enhancements. There are on-going implementations.

Overall: We could register all projects in our institution and could supply dashboards to our top management.

Pros: The reporting capabilities, the ability to see people's task workload, the ability to assign multiple users to tasks, the general visibility.

Cons: Inflexibility when it comes to firdrill projects, schedule compression and constantly changing projects. All the noise of the extended functionality that we don't use. It's just too complicated for people - the learning curve is too steep, getting people used to using the tool satisfactorily.

Overall: generally, I feel like the system it too vast and complicated. I would rather have a "lower tier" version with less functionaity (users are often confused by the extraneous info, even after we've hidden a bunch of stuff) and then scale up. Also, I find it to be relatively inflexible when it comes to project schedules (task lists) as things in our department change so much that the system takes too much work to keep up with those changes. As a project manager, I spend way too much time in the weeds because of this inflexibility, trying to keep up with task management when I have higher-level fish to fry.

Recommendations to other buyers: Please develop product tiers for smaller organizations that don't need at least half of the functionality. Also, we had TOO MANY BUGS in our instance that caused project delays and lots of confusion. The help/tech support folks could rarely reproduce our problems and rarely had solutions.

Comments: Overall, the pros of having a SaaS that provides me a task "to-do" list every day outweighs the time spent up front making sure projects are set up and assigned out correctly. Visibility into an entire team's work load is a major plus as well.

Pros: Very useful for managing tasks once projects are all set up. I generally have at least 100+ different tasks that I'm working on at any given time, so being able to sort and organize by the day they are due and have that view is a lifesaver. The calculated allocation is also useful to see if it is even possible to accomplish everything in a given work week.

Cons: If you have a project to set up that doesn't follow a template, you will spend A LOT of time getting your tasks, milestones, etc. all set up and assigning the work out. It can also be cumbersome to modify task due dates if they change.

Pros: User experience is excellent our clients love using it! The ability to create a multitude of reports (e.g. intake, tasks, how many requests and by who).

Using the notifications (on both site and cell) as ticklers to keep track of what to focus on.

Ability to decide what kind and how many notifications to receive.

Online training (Ascent) and resources to answer most questions.

Local communities (go Mid-Atlantic user group!) which offer an opportunity to collaborate with other system admins, workers and users.

Support has been very good. If we don't get a good resolution via email, we can either Skype or have a conversation. Usually resolve issues within 48 hours. IF it needs to be escalated, our customer rep is always on it.

LEAP!

Cons: With all the new integrations being offered, there isn't much I don't like. I will say it would be helpful to be able to respond to an email from someone, generated in Workfront, and have it captured on the project. Would also like to see all updates (project, task, proof) ALL show up in the update feed.

Pros: Workfront has allowed our department to fine-tune our projects, which consist of approx. 45-50 projects per year over three selling seasons, all working concurrently. We have been able to integrate our Product Development dept in NYC and our distribution facility in South Carolina, in order to Go to Market in a seamless manner. There is visibility for anyone who needs it and a range of reporting functions.

Cons: It can be frustrating to set everything up in a particular manner, only to have it become a 'legacy'. The challenge I've faced as the admin for my company is that it's not my full time job and it can be time-consuming to figure things out at times, or try to configure a work-around to meet our needs. The reporting has improved a lot since we started with the product 7 years ago, but there are still some basic needs that aren't met, such as the fact that there's a beautiful Milestone report, but it's not printable. It is the exact type of report that is most useful for our organization, but it's impossible to print out for our dept meeting, for instance.

Recommendations to other buyers: Carefully identify your users, groups, job roles, etc. prior to launch. A well-planned execution will make things much simpler as you move forward.

Comments: So, our eMarketing design team has always been very "execution" focused... yes you need Governance (evaluate the Charter and brief documents) and Reporting (who's doing what and how much of it are they doing?)...but the reality of a very small team was that we were execute / execute / execute. Per that, the team started off managing projects via XLS, which is the bare minimum you can use; with Zero project plans / work assignments or easy document sharing or communication. Workfront, then AtTask, was brought on board and solved so many problems that as the number of projects increases, the number of Design team members has not had to.

Pros: So, I have two "dog & pony" training sessions when introducing a team member to Workfront; one is for a Business Owner or Project Manager, while the other is for Resources (e.g. Content writers, Visual Designers, Coders, etc.). Either way, it lasts about 25 minutes only and always I hear "I get it." well before the 25 minutes are up. It's simple to use and grasp quickly, intuitive, and serves up all relevant information in a clear format. I can literally mange hundreds of projects a year successfully because of this tool. Me, by myself.

Cons: I think the adding of new Product features and improvements; the process in place feels a little difficult to get in on. I would guess that's not their intent, but there is an opportunity to improve that, especially with customers who've been using the product for 4+ years!

Wouldn't be without it now. It is vital for our project management and data analysis for planning.

Pros: Personally, reporting is the most useful for me. I run reports daily to glean information for resourcing and future project planning. For our editors, the project plans are vital to manage 100s of tasks in one place and assign work to their team members.

Cons: It can be slow and temperamental at times. Dragging and dropping tasks is a no-no! You never know where it will end up! It is largely intuitive but I have found that it is only by trial and error that I have learned how to ask for what I want to see in reports. Not always immediately obvious. Updates can affect reports also and render them useless / not working as they were before the update.

Overall: Visibility and transparency across our projects (10 per year), more accurate information for resource forecasting and project planning.

Workfront has been a tremendous asset to our team.

Pros: This product has saved me from having to keep track of a bunch of different spreadsheets and managing requests via email, which would be absolutely impossible now with the hundreds of projects we manage. After a few years of using it, I can't imagine living without it. It's very easy to bring on new staff, which is great. I like that the team is constantly improving and making resources/features better. The folks at the Workfront team are excellent - we've enjoyed working with all of them and appreciated being part of the Leap conference this year, which was a terrific experience all around. It reinforced that we made the right choice.

Cons: Since I'm not very technical, the reporting is a bit of a challenge for me and I don't have as much time as I'd like to spend on that, but I do see that it has improved tremendously since we started using Workfront (AtTask) several years ago. I think I'd face that same challenge with any vendor.

Recommendations to other buyers: Identify pain points and what you're trying to solve and don't skimp on implementation services, which were invaluable to us. Talk to others who use it, if you can. We've been able to do that with others in our organization who are looking to implement.

Pros: We were able to customize Workfront to fit into the immediate needs of the different departments in my organization.Making it easy for everyone to collaborate with anyone in the organization ; across teams and different departments.

Thus making the workflow process of every department easily trackable and transparent. The process of allocating resources for project and managing these resources is much easier because with Workload everyone is almost like a Project manager , only they don't bear the title officially.

Cons: Team members have complained about sometime encountering errors when trying to comment on tasks. Also currently ,there is no means via which we are able to visualize our workflow on Workfront.

Pros: Workfront does have seemingly endless features and customization options which makes it adaptable to most any (or at least many) businesses. I work in a project-based industry so it is helpful for keeping track of a large number of different items at various stages of the project's lifecycle.

Cons: I find all of workfront's features to be overwhelming and not very user-friendly. I spend a lot of time trying to use this system and make it work in the way I need it to, and I think I'm spending more time managing tasks and project status now than I used to when I would just keep track in my own template. I do like that if a date changes in a timeline, workfront will automatically push out the rest of the steps, but it's so hard to set up intricate timelines that the convenience of changing timelines doesn't seem that great when you look at the overall time spent creating and maintaining.

Comments: Our Internal Agency group has been using Workfront/ AtTask coming up on 3 years. We started with 50 users and at last count, we were over 130. It has become an indispensable tool for request intake, project creation and management, reporting, resource management and cost tracking. Prior to implementation, we had a 4 person Traffic department that had to utilize 3 different platforms to track creative requests. We were always behind and our on-time rate for projects was hit or miss. Very frustrating. Within weeks of implementing AtTask we were able to easily manage all of our requests (approx. 150 per month) and track thousands of hours of task time on various creative requests. Our Traffic team is now down to 1 FTE generating more information and tracking more requests than we could ever have imagined. The software has passed through 3 major iterations and improvements come down the pipe to us each month. The company is responsive to our needs and requests. This is not the cheapest solution out there but it is a terrific value!

Pros: - I can't imagine any large enterprise that would be too big to use Workfront. Properly configured, it can handle any size and number of projects - easy to learn, easy to use. Adoption by new users is quick and worry free. 20 minutes training gets a new user up and running - reporting tools are awesome. - the ability to adapt this software to any kind of process make it useful across many areas. We are finding new ways to use it each month. - the collaboration part of each project makes it comfortable for all to use. Everyone sees everything in one place - SAAS makes it available anywhere there is WiFi

Cons: - it is an expensive solution for small companies. - some nomenclature is confusing - some of their processes are a bit clunky but they are being re-worked continually

Cons: The product has been growing a lot and we've felt some of the growing pains in quality and stability. Things are getting incrementally better.

Comments: I think the functionality is excellent but find that when you're having a hard time using something, functionality is rendered a moot point. This could be fixed with future updates, but as it stands I don't think I would comfortably recommend onboarding teams with it.

Pros: When it comes to managing projects, Workfront (formerly ProofHQ) has what you need. Versioning, history, direct comments, and comparison views are really helpful, especially for creative projects.

Cons: Built on Adobe's Flash platform, I find it runs incredibly poorly with modern browsers. Not easy to use at all times and especially not for everyone in a team. Though it might work great for some, chances are everyone's got different machines with different levels of power and functionality.

With the use of Workfront we have streamlined our processes and met all project deadlines.

Pros: Reporting and allocations metrics. Projects are managed by a system that standardizes processes. With the use of Workfront we have identified efficiencies, streamlined our processes and met all project deadlines.

Cons: When trying to onboard new users I've created tools and emails. I'll schedule meetings to answer any questions but will come across issues with comprehension of the platform. The management of duration dates have proven to be a troublesome for project owners. I will always do a "clean up sweep" .

Overall: Reporting and allocations metrics. Projects are managed by a system that standardizes processes. With the use of Workfront we have identified efficiencies, streamlined our processes and met all project deadlines.

Pros: It is actually quite a comprehensive tool for project management. It has enough features to support the very varied needs of a 100-strong department and those with whom we directly interact on projects.

Cons: It doesn't take much to break an elaborate project workflow. If a project contains many interdependent tasks, it can fall down due to (lack of) human intervention. It's best to ensure there are clearly understood guidelines for users on how they are expected to use the system, otherwise it can create more confusion than necessary.

Overall: It does help some team members to be more efficient, giving them an easy-to-use task list for daily use. But it does not lend itself to everything our department needs to solve for.

Pros: The basic project management capabilities, the continuous innovation and adaptations we are able to implement, and how it can become whatever tool you need it to be when you set it up the right way.

Cons: I miss my old project management software's "start/stop" timer for tracking time, but apparently they are considering adding this to workfront.

Overall: I was an end user, and used it to account for my time, track my projects from start to finish, share proofs, get feedback, and communicate with internal clients. Now I am managing the projects for the end users, and it is more robust than I ever knew! I am able to make reports that make my design team's lives easier, their clients lives easier, and with their mobile apps, my sales team's lives easier.

Pros: Highly flexible. Easy to navigate. Love the ability to easily provide a customized front end for groups of users via the layout templates. On top of all that, the training and support is excellent!

Cons: Limited capability to track planned and actual benefits.

Overall: Workfront has come a LONG way in the last 3 years. If you saw it before and havent looked recently, take another look. The tool is a great place to call your single source of truth. By configuring to your needs, you can make it easy for your people to keep their data up-to-date.

While the basics are great, and some extensions are really nice, it provides only rudimentary capability to track business value of the projects. For that, you'll probably need to go offline or create additional custom data elements.

Pros: -Project visibility across multiple teams - Workfront makes it easy for different groups to work on projects together & provide updates through the system, so all your project information is gathered in one place. The project details page & updates become your one source of truth when tracking why a project became late or who made decisions about certain project aspects.

-Project templates - The ability to create project templates makes opening new projects a breeze & quicker manipulation of due dates

Cons: -Resource allocation - I think that the process of bulk assigning users to project tasks is a bit clunky, but I still like the feature. It feels awkward having to leave your project, go to a different tab, and navigate through several more clicks to find where to bulk assign all of your project tasks.

Overall: -Project visibility across multiple groups & departments

-Reporting/tracking on time delivery of deliverables & projects

-More insight into workload of users on different teams

Pros: The best thing I can say about Workfront is that it's easy to create new projects at the most basic level. Otherwise, I prefer not to use it.

Cons: There are too many steps involved in creating anything or updating projects. There is so much clutter to get through, it's hard to retrieve earlier messages. Documents often get lost because there are so many different places to house them. The search function is terrible - not helpful at all. Overall, there is just way too much going on in Workfront. It adds so many steps to my projects and there are way too many unnecessary features. It over complicates everything.

Overall: I honestly don't see many benefits to this software at all.

Pros: Can be customized to suit your business needs. Can build custom reports to pull project information. Lot's of filters available. We tweaked it in order to create a help desk ticketing system. It was useful because we were really able to specify the tickets according to our needs. We were even able to transfer a paper request form to create new accounts into Workfront.

Cons: Too expensive for project management software. We often found users being frustrated at the interface when attempting to manage their projects. I personally didn't use it for the project aspect of it, but users often did not like tracking their projects through Workfront.

Overall: Was able to customize the product to utilize it as a help desk ticket submission. I liked that I was able to add my own custom fields and run reports on those fields that I created.

This is something you want to love but can't.

Pros: It's a comprehensive solution, there's a fairly robust reporting functionality, and I like the gant chart view of your team so everyone can see what they're supposed to be working on.

Cons: It's really hard for most users to understand. It was actually quite difficult to learn how to implement as well, but that's okay. But my most consistent users are constantly complaining about the bugginess and my occasionally users are consistently confused by the user experience.

We also had an insane error that was unresolved for 8 months and more than 15 sessions with customer service led to nothing - the error would not allow us to access the 'proof' functionality, which is the core reason you'd want to use the service. Finally, it was our own IT team who solved it.

Overall: Easier routing of collateral. Plus headaches

Pros: User interface is intuitive and collaboration is easy using updates. Reporting tool is robust and online help articles support customization, easy to follow directions even for non-technical users. Product is constantly being improved and updates don't disrupt day-to-day activities. Provides us visibility into our projects and portfolios that we didn't have previously.

Cons: There are some settings that I would like to be able to configure as a system admin, but I can't. For example, only items from Current projects appear in My Work, but we track work at earlier stages of a project, before it has been approved.

Overall: Transparency into status reporting for projects to executives. Reporting and dashboard capabilities into resource management and budgeting to have more control into planning and prioritizing project work.

Pros: Workfront allows common workflows to be built into templates. As those processes are improved over time, the template can be updated to capture learnings for future projects. Workflow tasks and due dates are clearly assigned to individuals or teams. Predecessors are included based on requirements and past experience. Having templates ensures we are not inventing a new workflow every time a new project is launched.

Cons: The software has a learning curve to gain proficiency. I believe the learning curve is getting easier with some recent improvements to support new installations and training. The addition of Fusion should reduce some of the learning / expertise needed to integrate with other software, which will increase value and adoption.

Pros: I like that Workfront is cloud based and very easy to use. Workfront provides collaboration on projects which is critical to a projects success. Workfront also gives everyone high level visibility into their projects down to the smallest detail. No more spreadsheets for me!

Cons: I really have nothing that I dislike about Workfront. They are improving the application throughout the year with maintenance updates and system upgrades. You also have an opportunity to submit a product idea to Workfront, once reviewed it could be implemented in their next upgrade. I submitted my first idea last year and they took my idea into consideration and put in planning. I received a notification first of this year that my idea has been submitted to production.

Recommendations to other buyers: One recommendation that I have is that if you are considering Workfront as your project management tool. Before your consultant is onsite make sure everyone goes the training guides, video's & on-demand classes. This is crucial to your implementation period. I have read a lot of negative reviews based on the implementation and this was not the case with us. We all went through the training that Workfront provided, before the consultant arrived. We also had our workflow documented, so that the consultant could implement Workfront to our needs.

Pros: Workfront is one if the most comprehensive work management solutions out there. Regardless of what business sector you're in, there is truly a use case for capturing and managing your work within Workfront.

Cons: Because it is so capable, it can be overwhelming for first-time users. Workfront is by far one of the easier systems to onboard when compared to other PPM and work management solutions, but it needs solid training and communication plans in order to achieve good adoption rates.

Overall: Ability to not only manage projects, but visibility into what folks are working on outside of the traditional PPM means.

Pros: Easy to implement - we set the system up and were in full production mode in just over two weeks.

Extremely easy to use - the new Outlook add-in which is part of the R16 release provides a very simple and easy-to-use interface for "Team Users". It simplifies updating project tasks and is so easy to do from within the Microsoft Outlook application on your desktop.

Easy access- The Outlook add-in, the iPhone app and the Android app provide easy access and greatly increase efficiencies for updating tasks and reporting time.

Rich functionality - the Gantt view in AtTask is very robust and very forgiving. It allows you to update the task from within the Gantt, change dates, move them around, reschedule, add successors and predecessors and update % complete to name a few. The dependency functionality associated with these is very handy when you have to reschedule a task and want the other tasks associated to move with it.

Cons: Support service - while we have not had many issues with the system and the ones we have had have not been very serious, the support has not been stellar. We are located on the east coast and a problem reported in the early AM on the east coast may not get any attention at all until late, late afternoon on the east coast.

Overall: This is an excellent PPM system for an organization that needs to capture time, costs and information related to project activities. It is very easy to set-up and rollout and provides great tools for reporting. I highly recommend this solution as Project Portfolio Management tool.

Comments: We are a growing team that is evolving from the sticky notes, constantly out-of-date spreadsheets, broken email chains and desperate scribbles on napkins era of project management and into a more streamlined system that displays real-time information. We reviewed a few enterprise level solutions and Workfront came out on top. This is a very robust system that can be viewed as overwhelming and unfriendly, however I encourage you to invest in the on-site training and education. Workfront is more than an off-the-shelf solution, this is a system that needs to be custom fit to your particular workflow and business rules. The on-site consultant not only trained us on how to make Workfront fit our needs, but also took the time to review how we operate internally and offered best practices moving forward. We are a higher education, in-house creative marketing team that has been able to manage work flow on our own up to this point, but we need a system to allow our growing team to view work status in a consolidated view while allowing our client base an easy way to request work from us and get updates without having to call or email our team. Workfront consolidates communication, documents, and media in one place. If you are a creative team, then I highly suggest the in-line proofing tool. This allows for internal and client reviews of art within Workfront. No more running print outs around the campus! Workfront gives us an easy way to track time spent on projects. We have been plagued by endless revisions, scope creep, and other death by a thousand cuts requests on projects. We now have a way to see how our time is being spent and can see potential time pit falls before they happen.

Pros: Highly customizable Excellent training and support Consolidates communication and documents Got my project manager off of blood pressure medication

Cons: Needs a lot of planning and research to set up correctly (please invest in the on-site consultant!) Need to invest time in training on-line and with consultant

Pros: Ease of entering projects while offering full-featured capabilities. Workfront understands the need to enter tasks in quickly without too much overhead, yet the software still supports a wide-range of capability regarding task and project configuration.

Cons: Reporting capabilities are still a bit limited when compared to how much other parts of the software have been continuously improved. Nothing that exporting to Excel and creating pivot charts can't solve.

Overall: Best PPM Software available regardless of industry. The collaboration capabilities separate it from it's competition.

Pros: Workfront is the ERP equivalent for our Professional Services Agency business. We eliminated half a dozen disparate tools and apps when we deployed Workfront. Our entire business runs on Workfront and a cloud based accounting system - that's it! Custom forms are very easy to whip-up (no technical knowhow needed) allowing us to customise and streamline our internal processes and maintain reporting visibility and control. The Workfront support team is very responsive and provides active feedback and timeframes on issue resolution.

Cons: Looking forward to some of the roadmap features around external user collaboration. Already does the job but the polish coming down the road will be very welcome.

Recommendations to other buyers: Partner with a Workfront partner that knows the product really well (it is a mature product offering many alternate paths to a solution) and who know your industry well. Ideally the partner should have implemented Workfront in a similar business. This will ensure you get the most out of the investment in Workfront.

Pros: The ability to have separate projects and see all of my tasks in the My Work section in order by due date.

Cons: I would like to have more flexibility in the reporting and when I export my report to pdf if I have groups the system adds an extra line between the group name and the total.

Overall: Overall, I enjoy working on Workfront for managing my projects and I instruct others on how to use it. The one area that has been difficult is the reporting but I'm finding that there are vendors that can help with that. I would like to create a report that is more free-form rather than table format.

Recommendations to other buyers: Overall, I think its a excellent tool to organize my work.

Pros: That you are able to track multiple projects, communicate to all team members and track back hours for each team members back to those projects. It allowed our team to combine project tracking and time tracking tools into the same spot. Ease of document sharing.

Cons: The amount of time/clicks it takes to get to a particular project. It is very time consuming to navigate the tool because of how many clicks/pages required to load just to get to your project. Inability to customize specific things that are shown/not shown in the tool. The client view has given me a considerable amount of angst. There is customizable way of giving them access to the full timeline of tasks without giving them access to the whole thing. What our clients were seeing was just tasks that were assigned to them and they couldn't see the overall timeline of tasks, nor could they go back to a task after the task was checked off. I have had to actually just give the client the same access our team does, which kind of defeats the purpose of the client view.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be ready to give your client access to everything within a project. If your business requires a lot of granular details, this product allows one to get to much granular detail than a lot of other products I have used/tested. However, you will need to spend a lot of time on creating and managing timelines within this tool.

Cons: Sometimes updates can cause disruptions

Notifications are pretty overwhelming, no matter what you do to your settings

Overall: Workfront can really do it all. With the evolution of the proofing tool, our creative services team can consolidate and keep everything in one place. The ability to lock proofing stages helps cut down on additional comments after-the-fact, and the ability to set pre-made templates in addition to adding ad-hoc tasks makes for a flexible tool. Though the sheer number of things the tool can do is sometimes overwhelming, a little patience and focus can develop the tool into a great thing for any organization.

Recommendations to other buyers: Listen to your users and organize it in a way that really works for them.

Comments: My organization implemented Workfront to help with a nationwide rollout of new POS software to over 6000 retail locations. A massive project that required massive organization to get it done.

Workfront provided this organization for us. It helped us to break these 6000 separate implementations into manageable chunks of work, where we could easily keep track of our progress, understand where we are with any given implementation at any given time, make sure that our teams were getting their work done, and much more.

It provided us with that extra level of organization that we needed to keep everything on track for success.

Additionally after showing our success with the tool, many of our other teams within the organization adopted Workfront to help with their projects and they found that Workfront helped them keep track of the status of their projects and work at all times.

Comments: Overall Workfront is a helpful routing tool but there are definitely some improvements that could be made. It's pretty fast to upload and start a new proof route once you're comfortable with all of the various settings and have determined the best way to set up the workflow with your team.

Pros: Once you get the hang of it, it's an easy-to-use, e-routing tool. It allows you to set up folders and sub folders for projects which helps keep you organized and access proofs later on. It has a lot of really handy features in review mode which help my team catch errors such as the side-by-side comparison and the overlay functions.

Cons: There are a LOT of nuances with this tool making it difficult to train someone on. If the right box isn't checked your whole route can get messy and out of order. I wish you had the ability to put a person on a route more than once but it doesn't allow that. They also randomly, periodically change the interface. Just as my team gets used to using it they change it all around and it takes longer figure out how to access the tools all over again.

Pros: Very robust and customizable. I can report on ANYTHING.... and the people are soooo kind and easy to work with. Very responsive.

Cons: There is no way to bulk edit existing projects and link milestones to tasks. I have just learned about milestones, and I have updated my project templates to include them, and linked the milestones to individual tasks, but for existing projects, there is no easy way to add that feature for easier reportability

Overall: I have never worked with a more responsive, tech savvy, personable company than Workfront. I love you all!

Pros: I really like the scheduling function, the milestone paths and the request queue feature. I like the notifications. I really enjoy the classes. They've been really helpful. Some of the educators are really amazing. Our reps are super nice and helpful! We're currently in the implementation phase, so there's still a lot to discover.

Cons: It would be great if there was an easy start guide/cheat sheet that we can give our current staff who will use Workfront at a very basic level. It would also be useful to give to new staff as part of orientation. Not everyone will have time to take all the courses. The interface is a little dated. I think that some things that should be easily found are buried. There are also some bugs... And some functionality that makes no sense from a project management standpoint. For example, if you make 10 changes to the same task due date in less than 2 minutes, not only can everyone see that you've changed it 10 times, but it shows and highlights the first change you've made, rather than the most recent change. This is a little backwards to me. But we've submitted it as a product idea. Hoping this will get fixed!

Recommendations to other buyers: I would recommend that anyone looking into a tool like this form a team of project managers to evaluate the tool, have the project managers discuss the pros and cons with their teams and consolidate everyone's input and ideas. There has to be buy in from the staff if you want to push ahead with this type of change. If and when your company decides to move forward with Workfront, have the team of project managers take some courses, play around with the software before having a consultant come to your office. Make sure that you do the set up and test it before you roll it out.

Pros: The ability to configure the product to what fields I need for my specific organization.

Cons: I feel the reporting functionality is limited at times. Only being able to go 3 layers deep with reporting can be frustrating when I have upper management having certain expectations from what they were advised during the sale of the product.

Overall: As a system admin it's been a very easy transition from our old database to Workfront. I figured with any transition there would be lots of issue, but surprisingly there wasn't. I created the training material myself and trained our group.

Recommendations to other buyers: Being able to group reports by Home Group Name always changes to ID. Something this simple of a report shouldn't be difficult but after looking for an answer on the Community I see it's a very common issue.

Pros: It provides a user friendly way of obtaining project visibility and also drives accountability across delivery teams. I was responsible for lobbying for Workfront within our business and this has shown clear benefit and results.

Cons: Reporting could be more user friendly; would be great if dashboard views could be replicated as reports that could be distributed as PDF's for example. Being able to cut and splice project data would be a powerful sell to key stakeholders.

Pros: Ease of use. Transparency, top down and bottom up. Proof HQ integration is a huge help/time saver.

Cons: Doesn't always play nicely with Macs (Outlook plugin).

Overall: We had adopted other PM systems in the past, but Workfront seems to be the best of the bunch. Easy to use, fairly intuitive, great support for implementation issues. They listen to customers to get feedback on what enhancements should rise to the top of the list - smart and helpful for the end user. Most useful is that it takes a ton of project back-and-forth out of email and allows you to keep the conversations/discussions in tact within the WF project. We're still discovering the best way to utilize the system, but transparency and efficiency within our marketing team has gone up exponentially. It's working well, and am sure it will continue.

Pros: The most useful aspect of Workfront is the ability to create relationships between users and projects. Many levels of authority and usability allows for the software to configure itself to your project needs.

Cons: The most troubling aspect of Workfront is that it has a steep learning curve. For someone that is starting to use the software, there are a lot of terms and functionality that needs to be explored that isn't as intuitive as can be.

Overall: Our team uses this to track client service and installation projects. It does a very good job at this. Further, our employees track their daily time usage down to specific projects with the time sheet functionality. This keeps our team focused.

Pros: Staff have the ability to update their tasks on their own. The reporting capabilities are great.

Cons: The tool can be as simple as you need or as complex so it's important to remove the noise if it's not necessary.

Overall: We use Workfront to manage corporate projects. We love that the end users are able to mark their tasks complete/update their process on their own. The reporting capabilities are fantastic. The staff at Workfront is super friendly and they put on an amazing conference.

Recommendations to other buyers: Attend their user conference...the networking and learning opportunities are fantastic!

2. Setup and rollout are time-consuming. Apply proper change management principles if you are replacing a existing system with WorkFront.

Pros: Gives visibility to our executives

Easy to setup and get started right out the gate

Easy to create reports on any data point on an object

Cons: Reporting needs to be more flexible

Out of the box document management is lacking - wish the Box integration was more flexible - about to manage the folders, documents, etc from the sysadmin level

Overall: Implementation was rough but service recovery was great. And account management has been great so far. Hoping to see better product delivery responsiveness with new leadership!

The software has a standard interface nothing too fancy but a very clean look.

Pros: The are alot of options for tracking time, users can create their own custom dashboards, the recent update ticker on the side is a nice feature.

Cons: I would like for the interface to be more aesthetically pleasing especially with the offering of a client facing module to submit tickets/issues. With all the options to tracking time I wish there was a way to remove the other time options from the organization so it doesn't confuse another user.

Overall: More visibility into projects.

Pros: Reporting capabilities, view and layout customization, usability

Cons: Llayered tab layout is clunky UI-wise. Resource management and time logging lacks functionality and integration.

Overall: Of all the products we reviewed during the sales process, this was the best and we are still happy with our choice. The best aspect is the care Workfront provides to its customers and its willingness and emphasis to listen to customers and improve. We know this tool will only grow better.

It is pretty intuitive and easy to customize from an admin perspective, especially versus other tools. We are a tech savvy company so this is a great match of powerful, customizable functionality made intuitive.

We are wild about templates so that all departments know the steps required for another team to complete a certain part of the overall project.

Reporting and calendars are wonderful for executives and directors- eliminates all those emails asking for status updates!

Pros: I like that this software allows me to see my projects and tasks easily. It shows exactly what needs to be completed and allows different people across multiple business units to see what has been done and what is still needed. The software also allows people to upload proofs and documents. Once the proof or document is uploaded, the person who uploaded is allowed to ask for approval or changes. This shows everyone's approvals in one place.

Cons: I don't like how there is too much room for user error. This software allows for people to add in too many tasks, making it virtually pointless.

Pros: Flexible and robust are two keywords for this product. No matter the way that your business works or needs it has Workfront is capable to accommodate those needs. Most things don't come out of the box, but you can customize it with the help of the team.

Cons: Initially the user interface isn't the most intuitive for non-project managers. Migrating previous data can also be challenging if the data or workflows were not digital to begin with.

Pros: I like using templates for our recurring monthly projects. I also like using tasks to keep track of my "to do" list.

Cons: At the moment, I am having a little difficulty deactivating users in Worfkront and ProofHQ. I'm currently working with Customer Care to help resolve this issue.

Overall: We manage many sales events and this is a great tool for our Marketing Department to keep track of what needs to be done. We also have monthly recurring projects such as newsletters, email blasts, etc. that need to be tracked as well. It keeps us on target so that we get our projects done. We are still tweaking things here and there as we go along, but overall, our team is using the software on a daily basis.

Pros: The best thing about Workfront (formally AtTask) is that it is user-friendly. It is much easier to obtain user adoption when the software is easy to use. New users can easily figure out how to add comments, upload documents, and complete tasks. The vendor is very quick to respond to helpdesk tickets. We opted for their silver support, which allows of a bank of hours to work with a skilled consultant to build reports, learn about unused functionality, etc.

Cons: We wish Workfront would provide better portfolio management tools. You can create reports to view the upcoming projects, but I have yet to find something that is "sexy" enough for senior executives and the Board.

Recommendations to other buyers: Ask for a sandbox area to play in. Have your future users input data to see if they like the usability of the software, instead of just looking at the reports/dashboards the software can provide if it has every data element populated.

Pros: configurability - very easy to create reports and dashboards

Cons: would like more flexibility with layouts of dashboards. right now you have a few to select from but I would like the ability to choose how many reports to show horizontally anywhere in the dashboard vs. the pre-defined templates.

Overall: Overall, we have gotten a lot of value out of Workfront but we have had to do a lot of customization to get the executive level, rolled up reporting we need. Glad to hear that color selection is coming and the ability to report across objects! Would love to see a time entry license type for users that log in about 50 times a year. Currently pricey.

Pros: We use this as a ticketing system with one of our Vendors. Workfront looks to have all of the necessary capabilities to prioritize and manage tickets. It is great to be able to add all requirements and relevant documents or details in one place.

Cons: In order for Workfront to work better for our purposes, it needs to be more customizable. It is too difficult as a client to search through tickets and find what you're looking for. What it is lacking the most in is collaborative features. I cannot search for a ticket my colleague created with the ease that other tools offer.

Pros: Usually big companies set big goals and ambitious deadlines to reach, but no one shows the patch how to get there. Cons: Mobile app is very limited. Would like to see some basic features that Evernote offers for free. The website program sometimes has issues if projects are created based on completion date and attempting to adjust timelines.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are numerous project management software options and this is one that should make your short list. Workfront has improved our process in so many way - providing visibility, accountability and increased productivity for our teams. The vendor is very good at communicating with customers through online announcements, account representatives, customer support and has excellent training available.

Cons: I have been pleased with the product and vendor. As they grow and work with partners, I want them to continue to grow and enhance the product, listening to customers needs and allowing the service to remain affordable.

Recommendations to other buyers: Work with your Marketing team leads to create a checklist of requirements before reviewing software. Build their project workflows so that you understand their needs and include them in the selection process so that they will be champions for the new solution.

Comments: Workfront (AtTask) integrates several tools in one great solution. You get Project Management, Help Desk ticket management, time tracking and amazing reports.

Pros: -Friendly user interface: You can easily navigate the application and find your work items, comment on them and invite other people to collaborate. -Great reports: As soon as you start creating projects and other tasks you can easily create reports to help you track all the information you need. -Highly customizable: The tool already comeswith a lot of information but if you need something extra, it's easy to configure.

Cons: -Support: When there is a bug, it takes forever to be fixed. Their help desk will sometimes ignore your issues until they go away or until you fix it or find a work around for them. -They are constantly making changes and sometimes this will affect the way things worked, maybe a feature something you really liked or used will go away or stop working and there will be no fix.

Pros: its flexibility, you can model your business using work front and solve your work management needs. it helps you to increase visibility and accountability On the other hand, the vendor have everything under control and bring you a great customer experience

Cons: The mobile App could be better, currently it has the basic features but for instante it does not have the option to approve. On the other hand, both versions (Ios and Android) have differences. In my personal opinion, Work Front needs to solve the problem of having a way of restoring a project to a certain date without paying a fee for restoring it.

Recommendations to other buyers: In my personal opinion a solid business case need to be in place. In my case I made a list of the expected requirements that we need to support in the tool for solving our business needs (we are in the software industry) and we did many labs involving business users for evaluating them through several tools (Clarizen, zoho, 5pm, paymo, basecamp, project server, TFS Service, etc.). Work Front was the winner.
