Throughout our P21 journey we have been supported by great members of the Epicor Project Team. Their signature methodology enabled the successful delivery of our new ERP system, with regular communication on the next steps and phases of the project. Our Project Manager made the whole process very smooth. We are now in a position where P21 can support our growth and expansion plans for years to come.

Pros

•Epicor’s Customer Support is second to none. You get an instant reply from their friendly Team who genuinely want to help you and 9/10 do get you the solutions you need. •The flexibility you have to create a system that works for you. P21 is a very powerful and customisable system that can in effect be tailored to you, the end user. With the power of Dynachnage to introduce new fields and Business Rules to help automate repetitive processes, you have the flexibility to mould the system to your needs and improve efficiencies. •Permissions – you can be very granular with access for the screens and functions accessible by roles. •The ELC and help and support built into P21 enable the Team to get the self help they require in a variety of channels. From helpful tutorial videos to ‘how to’ knowledge guides, there’s a variety of content available for the Team to access.

Cons

•There is a distinct gap in knowledge for the UK market in Finance and the functionality of P21 lacks here. •Custom work can be challenging. •Integration with Quick Ship – no one in the UK seems to have knowledge on this product. •Maintenance Screens – there is one for every possible area which can be slightly overwhelming.

Some hurdles had to be jumped initially, but now we are running a very slick system that controls all our business processes with lots of room for expansion and continuous improvement in most area's. The Grow BI system is fantastic and was simple to implement. It gives us instant visibility for all our KPI's. The support team is always on hand to assist with issues and help bring new modules online, and we find them very responsive. After attending a few of the Customer Connect meetings I have been impressed by the roadmap and I am confident we have invested in a future-proof system that will meet our needs as we expand.

Pros

I love being able to access the system from anywhere without the need for VPN's or other screen share portals. The warehouse management system has dramatically improved our stores and distribution processes.

Cons

The implementation took a lot of time and we didn't realise at first how much work would be required. The end result was worth the investment.

Despite the initial length of time to get the implementation going. When we were allocated a senior PM the project really took off. From about this point it took us around 6-8 months to go live. Which is how I really judge the project. The PM we had at the time was fantastic and supported us all the way through and did everything in his power to get us live on time. When we did Go-Live the support was fantastic we had Epicor engineers on site helping make sure the system was functioning as it should and since then we haven’t looked back. The system is cloud based so you can log in from anywhere in the world. This is incredibly helpful when you need to get answers to a question and you are out of the office. The fact that you can amended screens and tailor them to suit your business practices is priceless. For anyone thinking about choosing P21. Just do it! The implementation isn’t easy but it’s worth the short term pain for the long term gain.

Pros

It’s scalability. We came from a system which wasn’t easy to turn on new features. But in Prophet 21 if you want to turn on a new feature you can do so at the click of a button and there’s easy to red help articles which will guide you through what you need to do. It’s fantastic to have a system that can grow with the company as it evolves rather than being capped in certain areas.

Cons

The implementation process. First off I have never done an implementation of an ERP system before, so take this review from that perspective. However, we found that the implementation process was a bit clunky we went through multiple project managers as they kept leaving Epicor which meant information between PMs was lost when they handed over and time was added on to the project. Additionally at the start it took a while to get basic things set up like users and access to the ELC etc. I felt like this stuff shouldn’t have taken as long as I did to set up again adding time to the overall project.

Prophet 21 is intuitive and easy to learn, slashing user training times compared to our previous ERP. Having the ability to make system changes in-house has been a major game-changer.

Pros

What stands out most about Epicor Prophet 21 is its exceptional agility; the platform allows you to implement changes and business rules with absolute ease. Crucially, updates that would typically take weeks or months in other systems can be successfully deployed in just a matter of hours.

Cons

Being restricted to read-only access on a single database at any given time creates a significant bottleneck, heavily restricting our ability to perform concurrent testing and data work.

An unethical company that mis-represents itself as a leader in the industry. It's not a true ERP system, rather small individual databases with a poor and unsuccessful attempt to integrate them together. The databases do not communicate with each other, and if they do, it's at a minimal level. Be prepared to adapt to a day/month/year format, and 24-hour time printing on all documents, and accept customer service replies stating, "We are not responsible for any bugs or lack of audit proof tracking".

Pros

NOTHING. The website appearance is more sophisticated than the software itself. Font and graphics have not been updated from DOS. The system is not auditing proof. Has no build in financial reports. Including basic accounting 101 such as P&L, balance sheet, general ledger activity, or bank reconciliation reports. You must create your own forms using either Excell or Crystal reports. Manually map each line and column to their database and fields. In other words, you must hire a software programmer that knows SQL. This is NOT a user-friendly software. A simple example - to view a customer's records you must go to various screens. One to see their contact information, another to view their purchase and payment activity, another to update phone number, another to change address, and yet another to re-print an invoice.

Cons

Everything. From inventory management, finance, to sales. The verbiage, and titles throughout the system are uncomprehensible. It's obvious it was written in a foreign language translated into English using a dictionary, without common sense. They take no accountability for bugs

Overall Prophet 21 itself is an excellent baseline ERP system that will work for most businesses, without much customization. However the problems with Tech Support can substantially hinder business continuity- if problems arise or if complies plan to use more advanced features and expecting assistance.

Pros

Prophet 21 is easy to use and easy for employees to learn to use. Base functionality can be adapted to most businesses- and Epicor does offer third party add on’s to fill in gaps of functionality, or adding advanced features to streamline businesses.

Cons

Though Prophet 21 is a fully functional baseline ERP system- additional support for the product is very limited. Epicor likes to charge for any assistance for functionality users may need assistance with. Epicor Tech Support, which is a subscription service, is poor at best when dealing with frontline support. In order to obtain tech support to truly get problems resolved- you have to escalate support tickets to higher level support to get answers to problems. Like most companies- frontline support is overseas, which has language and critical thinking barriers. Epicor does not acknowledge that companies they deal with May have their own IT staff making requests for support, therefore Epicor support tends to waste time wanting to discuss basic understanding of troubleshooting. This includes Epicor Tech support rehashing information already provided when support ticket was originally requested.

It is what it is. I do not see a return on our investment. It is way too much money for what you get and pushing people to the cloud where they have to spend tens of thousands more dollars, but get "free stuff" like wireless warehouse that we will not use is very frustrating.

Pros

I like the ease of use with the most used modules. The screens are easy to read and can be customized.

Cons

Where to start. I do not like the pages rather than scrolling through history. I do not feel like it is worth the insane amount of money we pay for it. Customer support is often very slow to resolve an actual issue. I do not like having to go back and forth in emails over something that could be resolved in a 10 min phone call. I do not like that support has been sent to different countries.

Overall I would say that I am satisfied with the Epicor prophet 21 software and will continue to work with this.

Pros

The inventory inquiry view is easier to find than other HVAC ERP systems, I was impressed with how quickly I can reach most screens I need to work with using the shortcut keys.

Cons

I was not a fan of how long it takes for reports to be downloaded from the Epicor system, the system seems to freeze while waiting for reports to be completed.

After 10 years not very happy. The items I listed as Cons are so severe they are causing my company to look ignorant and lose money.

Pros

Overall the software works well for us but the cons are serious.

Cons

Credit card processing does not work at all. Epicor has not corrected the obvious issues in 10 years and does not listen to the complaints. Cursor placement is not obvious it gets lost on the screen. Can't easily swap from quotes to sales orders or vice versa once you enter product. Uses way too much paper everything prints using way too much area. Epicor does not offer monthly invoicing only massive invoices at end of year. Customer has no idea what he is purchasing until he sees printed receipt, there should be a secondary monitor facing customer for pricing approvals. There are no out of the box financial reports. You have to build your own and teach yourself how to build them. After you enter your products if you hit the enter button too many times you will have no idea where your cursor has been placed. If you accidentally change the current date on the order to before the current date let's say year 2000 the prices on the receipt go to ZERO for every product. When invoicing a back order the software does not tell you what quantity is owed it only shows what was invoiced and what was ordered. You must do the math as to what is owed.
