Principal Law Practice, Self-employed Used the software for: 2+ years ** Overall Rating 5.0 ** Ease of Use 5.0 Customer Service 5.0 Features 5.0 Value for Money 5.0 Likelihood to Recommend 100% 10/10 Reviewer Source Source: Capterra November 2, 2025 "Much More than Just a "Fill in Blanks" Document Automation Platform" **Overall:** We use Gavel extensively to create litigation documents for cases with a large client where the basic fact patterns are very similar with different names, dollar amounts, dates, etc. Using Gavel allows us to litigate smaller cases for our client cost-effectively and to pursue matters they would otherwise have to just write off. **Pros:** While there are a number of legal-focused document automation platforms available, Gavel's ability to allow complex workflows and integrations was key for my practice. Other platforms were either too self-contained or unable to handle the logic we needed to create document effeciently. There's also already a robust marketplace of Gavel workflow creators/consultants who can do the heavy lifting in building out your processes for you at a reasonable price, which makes Gavel a good value for the money. Customer service is excellent, and the \[sensitive content hidden\] is clearly fully focused on building a great product that continues to innovate and grow with customer's needs and the opportunities afforded by AI. **Cons:** The backend works fine, but isn't quite as polished as it likely will be as it continues to grow its user base. I was also a little frustrated when I built a workflow which was supposed to allow users to upload documents, but had issues with not being able to upload Excel files or larger PDFs. **Switched From:** [Clio](https://www.capterra.com/p/105428/Clio/) **Reasons for Switching to Gavel:** Clio Draft obviously plays well with Clio but was too limited in terms of logic, branching and complex form capability.
