Administrator Alternative Medicine Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Failed Colossally" September 8, 2025 2.0 My overall experience with Filmora was wrought with frustration, feeling mislead and having to pay to test their malfunctioning software. I spent a few weeks going around in circles with one problem or another trying to produce content with Filmora. Ultimately, I didn't accomplish one piece of content. Leaving me to feel as though I paid to tell them what is not working. I was grateful that I caught the attention of a product manager who was very courteous and professional. He invited me to have a video conference so they can get a thorough intake on my series of experiences. This was a good move on their part. However, as to what the outcome would be for improving the software, I have no idea because I will never use their apps again. Not only is the software not performing they way they market it, their pricing structure is confusing to the point of mind numbing. I couldn't make sense of what I was getting with any given subscription for either the service or access to media? As someone who developed educational software for five years, my take away is, this company is far too big to keep a handle on all the software components. Too many cooks in the kitchen while they roll out all this AI stuff that needs far more testing before it's rolled out to the public. The mobile versus desktop laptop apps are very different animals leading one to feel like they are almost completely separate from each other. Features in one platform where not available in the other. Leading to questioning my sanity?? They just didn't coalesce as one would hope in an efficient, cohesive workflow. The project manager who kept in touch, stated that his hands were tied because certain things where not in his department. He dealt with the desktop based apps, not mobile apps. I really can't fault him at all. He was doing the best he could with what he had to work with. At least he was professional, honest and responsive and for that, I give him, as an employee five stars. Caveat Emptor - try at your own risk. I hope you have time and money to waste to see if it works for you. If it does, then GREAT! It just failed colossally in my experience. I don't always feel comfortable writing negative reviews but in order to be honest, these things need to be stated. I have spent hundreds of dollars on the latest and greatest AI content creation tools. Only to have wasted more time and money with experiences like this. If we don't share our experiences on platforms such as Capterra, the problems will not be addressed by the developer because they live in their own bubbles with their priorities first. Another red flag is their big watermark for unpaid version, you just know they are very selfish and dont want you to use them for free like other better app with smaller watermark. so now I am stuck with a useless good for nothing app for a year and I cant get my money back because they wont refund me. After subscribing for this software, you still have to subscribe to use any meaningful features like a youtube subscribe sticker, and captioning your video you also need to pay again to even use that feature, making it like 3 different yearly billed subscription to have a meaningful usage. This is a Sc@m software, I definitely don't recommend for anyone, and I am pissed. No lagging while previewing as they use proxy videos. I can easily render larger videos that is more than 10 mins faster. Anyone who is not much experienced with video editing can easily access and learn every feature and start in no time. Pros I am using this to create Instagram reels and this tool consist of cool effects that will make my videos transition more beautiful and attractive with just one click. Also, I loved their auto proxy video replacement that need to be done manually in other native apps like adobe. Pros Almost every single tool that I need to make a quality video, I am sure to find on Filmora. To start with, I like how it is very easy to import media from the device to the software for editing. I am able to add any audio or image to my video and sync them perfectly. I can combine or split different videos and I love how I can fade in or fade out audio. There is a myriad of transitions, tittles and subtitles which I can customize by applying and changing fonts or colors and I can also animate the same. It offers a wide range of effects which I can preview before applying making it easy for me to pick just the right one. Furthermore, I can add a custom logo, add text and animation which makes it more exciting. I found that texts are customizable by the use of colour grading tools for perfect matching and this makes my videos look more fun. Lastly, there are many options under which I can file my project. Cons In as much as there are a lot of video/picture editing features, I found the audio editing features to be a bit limited. They basically force you into an upgrade to be able to complete your edit and then when you ask for a refund they tell you they don't do refunds. I was working on an edit on V12, which is fine for the little work I do, and I kept getting messages to upgrade to v13. I have a "perpetual" License and they didn't say there was a charge for the upgrade so I clicked "Upgrade" HUGE mistake. Once you click that button you can't get out of it without paying the ransom. I will never buy from this company again and you shouldn't either. Pros The product is average. Interface is not real intutitive. Cons There customer service is AWFUL. I tried to get a refund for V13, that I was basically forced into the upgrade. After being told I would be connected in 5 minutes, I finally was connected with someone who had heavy foreign accent after 20+ minutes. I was considering it before I finished, but the fact that the free version is like this means that there are probably other hidden things in it that I haven't researched since I was tricked into using it in the first place. Don't use this product. Pros It was easy to learn, but it wasn't worth learning, so nothing. Cons It shouldn't have a fake free version. At the end, of editing your video once you've put in all the hard work, it will give you two options. Buy it or have a watermarked video that is unusable. And I do mean unusable. It was a full banner watermark. I wouldn't mind if it had told me at the beginning about it or if it were a small one in the corner, but this is ridiculous.
