Having a means of incentivizing point givers to provide higher quality feedback to better highlight the receiver's success/achievement would in my opinion create exponential morale growth and participation. Don't make it more difficult to send a quick and simple posts, but having a way to give a few added points to the authors of a well thought out post would then promote higher quality posts. This in my opinion would up morale and increase user activity after they've exhausted all their monthly points. Gift giving is great, but including something that promotes words of affirmation should then boost the intent of what Nectar strives to be, a medium for spreading appreciation and allowing the opportunity to see other succeed. Years ago before the process to give a "spot bonus" or recognition was manual and archaic, but with Nectar it's instant, and there's lots of gift card choices. Cons It's a minor thing, but the points and dollars are not a 1 for 1, it's 1000 points equals $100 dollars, so sometimes it's hard to remember that and remember what I'm actually giving.
