It feels reminiscent of the days when I used to have papers, post-its, highlighters and such on a physical desk...except this is more organized an all online. It is a digital workspace that allows for all of my ideas to connect (if I want them to) and provides me an organized system (thank you, Templates) to actually keep myself accountable with making progress on my goals. Pros Project management is pretty great, helps with brainstorming, lists, tasks, and organizing ideas, templates are time-savers, easy to access on computer or phone (offline access is also a plus) Cons Limited/nonexistent design customizations, cannot manage complex projects, feels clunky at times, occasional lags with loading sections, search functionality leaves a little to be desired, challenging to learn for newbies to organizational software Switched from [Google Workspace](https://www.capterra.com/p/247901/Google-Workspace/) I like Notion's visual timeline view and the way all notes, lists, tasks, etc can all be kept together. I think there's a lot of potential there. I have slowed down my use of it as it's not quite there for my needs but as they continue building out the ecosystem, I may come back to using it as my primary workspace for managing my creative work. Pros I work in a creative field and I like being able to keep all of my writing and project notes in one area. I like the ability to write in markdown so I can keep headings, text, lists and everything else in the document and quickly write it without having to go search through menus for the correct selection. I've used a little bit of the project management functionality as well and that can be convenient to stay within the same platform rather than switching back and forth. Cons The project management tools are ok but not as straightforward as I would like. Other PM tools like Monday.com, Asana or Clickup have more robust project management capabilities and I've found myself drifting back to them rather than spend the time to learn how to build out Notion to fit what I want it to do. I get the philosophy of Notion is that you can build it to do whatever you need it to do but I don't really have time for that. Nor do I have the desire to learn how to build those systems within Notion. I just need something that works so I can get my work done more efficiently. It's intuitive and adaptable, making it easy to implement across various projects. Whether used as a project tracker or an internal wiki, it serves our needs well. The option to add templates from Notion's library is another standout feature, showcasing its full potential. Additionally, the new AI tools have been a game changer. So far, I've primarily used them for proofreading, improving writing, and adjusting grammar, but I'm excited about the broader possibilities they offer. I also love that they keep adding new features, and I'm looking forward to the new additions they'll soon make. Cons Although I appreciate the limited customization in terms of design, it would be great to have additional options, such as customizable accent colors or alternative layouts. It’s not a deal breaker, but it would be a welcome enhancement. Some features do require more expertise, so there is definitely a learning curve when creating a personalized workspace. Lastly, the pricing can be a downside. While I’m not directly responsible for managing costs, I know this is an aspect that's being taken into consideration when reviewing software budget for 2025. Use Notion" October 31, 2024 5.0 Pros Notion was the first app I used on my Macbook Pro to organize my entire life, track all of my notes, coursework progress, document drafting, saving bookmarks, publishing public pages to the web and sharing information with others. These are just some of the older features, recently they've added new tools to customize and make the most out of the app. There are plenty of free features to make this app very useful. Cons There is no Offline version, unfortunately. Not only that, I wish there was a way to turn off the AI feature, or use an API key from a non-Notion AI integration. I also wish there were more integrations as well, but I haven't looked into that side of things for quite a while, so there might be many more that I'm unaware of. Review Source MS Maria S. Previously, my work tasks and tracking their progress were scattered across different places. Now, I can keep everything in one place and monitor the progress of various tasks within a single app. With Notion, my workflow is now clearer, and things are more under control. Overall, it’s a very flexible application that adapts to a wide range of needs. Pros I started using Notion because I needed to organize my work tasks better. Soon, I realized that Notion allows me to plan my content strategy and social media calendar with extreme ease and clarity. The biggest benefit has been the ability to save inspirational material from around the internet without consuming storage space on my computer or phone. I’ve created tables and a calendar where I can track the progress of each of my projects. Cons Alongside Notion, I started using the Notion calendar, which can also sync with Google Calendar, for example. This calendar is, of course, synchronized with the project management table I created in Notion. This feature has also been extremely helpful. However, I would appreciate the ability to customize the calendar’s color scheme (it’s currently just gray), so that different events and reminders would stand out more clearly. However, there were two features that I didn't like about it. One, I couldn't link my notes together and two, it was cumbersome to share my notes with others, especially non-iphone users. Notion solved both these problems and provides an excellent user interface. Pros Notion is the superior notes taking app. A few of my favorite features are the ability to organize withing projects and tasks, the ability to have different kind of notes (one type for personal notes, and another to track tasks), the ability to publish notes to the web without needing a specific domain, and the ability to share notes with others on your team and have them update easily. Cons Notion does take a little while to learn, but once you understand how the system works, it's excellent. I use it for my personal notes as well as project tracking with my team.
