Used it as my primary method of note-taking and journaling. I like it better than both OneNote and EverNote combined. One of, if not the greatest, note-taking apps available. Pros Simple to input text and numbers. Terrific shortcuts for a variety of jobs. Excellent for including and embedding media. The app allows me to quickly photograph handwritten notes and store them in a folder I can sort through on my computer later. Cons Don't try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to table cell entry; if I click into a cell and start typing, it will replace the existing content (just like Excel does), and choosing cells is far more cumbersome than in Excel. The process of making a template is not the most straightforward, and it took me some time to master it. Cons Once you get beyond the basic lists, Notion can have a steep learning curve, especially if you're not familiar with Databases. This can be seen by the large number of tutorials that can be found on the site and on YouTube. The workspace heirarchy and sidebar can be confusing and take some getting used to. In addition, we preserve the steps of the procedures we use in Notion for the purpose of new employees, etc. The major drawback it solves is to make it easier for us to organize all the things we want to keep track of. In addition, it is a very versatile area, so it is possible to sort the data in several different ways. Pros They are very popular for their great usability and have a very perfect web, mobile and even desktop experience, if desired. It is very intuitive and simple to use. Even the turn signals it can detect quickly. It provides us with the ability to sort and display information in a way almost anything we have requested. The notion is excellent for planning anything related to meetings. It replaces Google Docs in several circumstances. It is quite a bit simpler to navigate and open documents in comparison to a Google itself. What it is not so good at is the project management part. While I just listed a couple of features, notion has a vast array of benefits as well that will take any business to any level and just make it better. I particularly love that I can also share workspaces and templates if I need to with colleagues anywhere around the world. Oh, and did I mention that there's a ton of free templates all over the internet and in new marketplaces to get you started quickly? Finally, the added bonus of being able to make money creating and selling notion templates in any niche now that the market is still unsaturated is the icing on the cake. Cons As a newbie, sometimes it can be a bit tricky using notion, and that leads to frustration. For instance, if I buy or get a notion resource that has already been completed, all I have to do is import it into my own notion, and that's a breeze. March 2, 2023 5.0 I decided to start using notion when I saw a review on YouTube, my main usage at that moment was organization. At first, I found it difficult to create my new tables, and it took me a while to learn how to use the formulas and different features. Once I learned, I created big tables with dependant columns and rows and automatic values, which have been helping me to keep a record of my grades at school and university, to track my tasks and organize my homework and work. Pros When you become a pro in Notion every aspect is a pro. Notion works in different devices (computer, android, ios), it allows collaborative work, you can create view-only or editing links, it works great not only for personal organization, but also for work tasks. At work is good for project management, scheduling tasks, taking progress and tasks of each employee, etc. It also has good options to filter access to each file. This allows to share the same document with different access levels in a big organization.Although I didn't find it too easy at first for complex tasks, there are various tutorials and documentation on the internet, and Notion and users provide free templates for different use cases, which makes everything easy. Cons The main drawback I found is that is not as intuitive as many people think. The user interface is friendly and nice, but when you want to create complex tables with many columns and automatic actions, it gets complex without knowing how to use it. Is as spread-shits, as long as you want to do simple actions with the basic formulas, will be ok. However, when you want to implement complex structures and use advance functions It may get complicated if you don't know how to use it.Anyway, it is not too difficult to lean, and once you know how to use it, you can create wonderful documents and tables that will simplify many jobs and will help you keep organized. Pros Notion allows me to take all my notes and link them in a way that is specific to me, as opposed to a stock method. My Notion is a huge body of work now — and it’s easy to clean and organize. Also, I like that I can make my notes visually beautiful and professional. The AI addition is brilliant. I like that it works with and without my data. I also like that it’s in many cases limited to what I’ve written. This is helpful because I do not want to bring in information on projects and work that I cannot cite directly or have not read to confirm validity. Overall, this program has made my life better and helped me organize! Cons While there is a learning curve to Notion (or was before the addition of the AI option), that curve is helpful in learning all the things Notion can do. The blank page can be scary, but by learning Notion (and seeing what others have done), you can create your own organizational framework that if perfectly tailored to you. It does everything you need. Get ready to set it up properly, and you'll fly. Bad integration with Google Suite limits its potential. Pros Notion is an amazing product. Cons There's no big negative on Notion. The two main issues would be: It does everything. LITERALLY Everything a team needs, so be prepared to "learn" how to use it. This, for me, is the biggest drawback. an example: Task management, is only on notion, but if you want to assign a task to a specific slot on your Google calendar, you cant. Pros The number one thing I absolutely adore about notion is how customizable the app is. You can entirely tailor your layout or layouts to however you'd like it be. Not only does it provide this for users by allowing flexible and unlimited list and task pages, but by also allowing users to design how their notion pages look as well! " February 5, 2024 5.0 Overall Notion is a great app for getting organized and storing your files. However, if you are wanting to share it this might not be the best app for sharing. I really used the recipe tab a lot while doing whole30 and it was great that I could put in the link to the recipe and everything else I wanted from it, even the picture. Using the free version just for yourself is definitely the way to go for getting organized. Pros Notion is a great platform that is cloud base and can be accessed from anywhere! Your phone, computer, ipad, it is on the go with you. If you are a person that struggles with organization or just love to be organized this app is for you! It comes with preloaded templates to help you get started if you are sure what information you want to put in it. The templates are also customizable. This is my favorite feature as it is nice to have a base to start with but then change it to give me all the information that I want to see. Cons This is not the most user friendly app if you are not good with technology. It takes some time to get used to and how to navigate it. Building new templates also took me a little bit to figure out. I found it was easier to modify a current template than starting again. Also, I don't like the way the way the free account is set up and I looked at upgrading because of this but decided not to due to price. I tried to add a user under me to see what I was adding as I wanted it to be a shared "House" folder. Once they were signed up they could see the folder but nothing in it. Making the comment section of it pointless if I am the only one to comment on it. After finding this out I tried to upgrade thinking this is the problem. However, for me to upgrade it would have been about $100 for the year, but since I had my husband on there to see the folder it was charging me 2 subscription fees making it $200! We have consistently been within the initial plan and the spend we have each year is considerable and cheaper compared to the largest knowledge base competitor without needing to make many distinctions. There are several possible integrations and I coupled them perfectly with SCIM's automatic provisioning and, in addition, automatic deprovisioning of temporary users. Pros I like that the user interface is more hygienic and simpler to learn and use compared to its main competitor. The administration of it is clear and there are no distinctions in the complexity of permissions to be managed or created. Granting permissions is simple for leaders, invitations for guests is straightforward and it's not all the same as it is in their primary competition. In addition, I like the simplicity with which you can collaborate or privately perform anything that is a work in progress. Once the item has been added and removed from the work area, end users are going to be able to prevent it from being modified so no one else can add to it. Cons We have some unofficial workspaces that end users originate and then abandoned before I arrived, and although I am the web administrator, this is not a simple workspace deletion. Also, the initial schedule does not have a list of dates on which activity will occur.
