I run my business from Notion, I track my habits, I track my reading notes and daily notes—it all lives inside Notion. And with AI tools getting better, I only see my use of Notion growing. Pros Notion is a blank canvas that lets you create basically anything you want. I've used it to create a task manager, project manager, reminders, and my ongoing library of notes and documents. All of this is even available under the free account. The AI features they have introduced are solid, helping me create blog posts and also have quicker access to my ever-expanding notes. Cons A blank canvas is great, but only if you understand how to use it. It took me several tries before Notion finally clicked. It can be clunky as a task manager, and though it's functional it's not the most visually appealing. Pros Notion is the equivalent of lots of different apps, but in one place. It's possible to compile so much information of all types. I use tables to hold data, financial figures, etc. I use lots of different workspaces for different parts of my life, but you can link between each workspace. Cons By being creative, you can make your pages very graphical, but I think a few more features that are most likely on the roadmap will come along to make the Notion experience even better. September 30, 2019 5.0 The overall experience is superb. The lightweight super functional app also has iOS apps which i love. Pros The best thing about this software is the very idea behind it. It is one of those pieces of software that you never knew you needed until you actually saw it and started using it. It falls in that amazing sweet spot between note-taking, todo list management, and personal database management. It is hard to explain the sheer utility of this app. And therein lies its beauty. Each person can customize it in any way they want. There are blocks that you can customize any way you want - todos, notes, headlines, comments, etc. I love the comments feature, it is super useful when there is a ton of notes on a subject. But the standout feature is the lightweight relational database that is absolutely the best for personal productivity. For example, you can track your bills and their status along with the details and due date in a database that is created as a block in your personal finance page. You can have many pages nested one under the other. Alongside you can have another small database that tracks your credit/debit cards, coupons, etc. It is super useful and you can manage any information from recipes to contacts. Cons The free plan has a limit of a 1000 blocks which is too little. But it is free for students, so that is a plus. Reason for choosing Notion The database inside a note-taking app feature is the main reason I chose this over Evernote. Until you use it you won't understand the sheer utility value of that feature. From project briefs all the way to the staff handbook we keep everything in notion, this allows us to easily point new members of staff in the right place and allows every member of the team to find the right information easily.
