### "Amazing Python IDE"

July 31, 2019

5.0

PyCharm made developing in Python super easy from beginners to experts.

Pros

PyCharm is the best Python IDE I have ever used. It is super powerful and makes coding in Python a breeze with smart suggestions and many tools to manage packages.

Cons

PyCharm is a battery and RAM hog. Do not expect to run this software on a laptop battery unplugged. The performance requires such high amounts of resource usage and it does pay off. But it does not help when coding on the go.

Reason for choosing PyCharm

PythonIDE is a free editor that just provides colors and not much else. PyCharm is the complete package that allows for smooth editing.

### "Pros and cons of PyCharm"

March 9, 2021

4.0

PyCharm is one the best IDE for python developers due to its features and package search and installation process. It also helps beginner coder with its code assistance and its design and UI. But it is not quit light weighted for simple python use.

Pros

PyCharm is easy to use software with good user interface. Code debugging and other lots of feature makes PyCharm more useful while coding. Package installation and search feature also helps.

Cons

One of the problem of PyCharm is that it takes lots of time to open and run simple python code. And it is also little expensive.

### "Simple and effective Python IDE"

June 5, 2019

5.0

PyCharm has enabled my team to rapidly develop Python applications and run them through rigorous testing and debugging on the fly.

Pros

PyCharm provides a development environment for Python that is extremely easy to use and customize. The out-of-the-box support it provides for various package management systems, database connections and testing frameworks is phenomenal, and made even more extensible through the use of plugins. The paid edition provides even more features such as in-depth integration with more frameworks and and Python language wrappers such as Cython. PyCharm works smoothly and efficiently and makes Python development a breeze.

Cons

Having to use the paid Enterprise Edition to work with popular frameworks like Django and Flask can be a bit annoying at times.

### "The best IDE for Python-based development "

June 30, 2021

5.0

I use PyCharm for all my python projects (e.g. Flask and Django apps) and also for the experimental scripts. Excellent IDE for Python. It supports almost all the tools and frameworks build around Python. Therefore, you can do anything you want, but much more easily and efficiently with PyCharm.

Pros

This is a feature rich development environment that allow write quality code, version control and deployment. I really like this IDE because I can do everything I need with a single application.

Cons

Sometimes, IDE tends to be slower in my laptop when it is running many background tasks. This could freeze the screen and affect your efficiently a little bit.

### "Best Python IDE with support for other languages"

March 31, 2021

5.0

I don't use Python as much as R, but I appreciate having an excellent IDE to make my projects more efficient, better scripted, and more robust.

Pros

The layout and features are excellent for data science and data analysis projects. The GUI is clean and user friendly. The pricing structure is fair and allows for perpetual ownership of a version of the software even if you stop subscribing (within certain requirements). Extra addons and third party plugins make it even better. It also now includes R support too, so it can be a single IDE for all data projects.

Cons

On first opening the software, the screen can feel and look pretty cluttered. It can feel a little overwhelming, but once you get used to it, the interface is really well designed.

### "Pycharm"

Found it easy to use and helps a lot if one is learning to be a python programmer

Pros

As a python coder, its pretty much straight to the point and handy to python works and commands which mostly automatically link to code

Cons

Its a bit heavy if you have a small processor machine and consumes a lot of speed to itself slowing the machine down and even heating up the processor

### "Best Python IDE - Period!"

March 9, 2021

5.0

If you are a python developer, the PyCharm is undoubtedly the best IDE out there. While the free community version allows you to learn and get familiar with software, the licensed version will allow you to do all projects with the best customer support imaginable. The active support community helps you further. When building large projects, when it's difficult to do with a simple text editor, PyCharm is probably the best option available for a Python developer.

Pros

\> Amazing user interface > Free community version is excellent for learning > Excellent support community > Automatic code generation and linting are perfect

Cons

Though the community version is fully functional, when you go to the licensed version for your commercial work, it's a little expensive, unless of course you have a solid income from development work.

### "Probably the best IDE for python"

December 21, 2020

5.0

PyCharm is the best IDE I have ever used when coding in python. It is very easy to use, very extended (which means that there are lots of people who can help you when having a problem) and it helps me keep my projects tidy and ready to interact with version control. I can't imagine my day-to-day without PyCharm

Pros

I have used many pieces of software to develop code. This is by far the best one I have ever used for python. It is very easy to use and it allows navigating through all your code. It can be connected to other tools (git...) so you have total control over your code. It also includes access to a terminal where you can execute/test your code very easily.

Cons

The sort-keys are not very easy and it takes a while to get used to them.

### "The best framework for writing and running Python code"

July 17, 2019

5.0

I am a data scientist and a statistician, and all codes I write are in Python. I tried various frameworks like iPython, and it was very bad. PyCharm provides the best experience if you need to write, debug and run serious Python codes.

Pros

1) Easy to use, good prompt, all necessary features available, including debugging and Git sharing. Easiness to rename a function or a variable in all occasions simultaneously. 2) Terminal feature allowing to try small chunks of code inline 3) Possibility to incorporate a lot of statistical (SciPy, NumPy), graphical (PyPlot) etc. packages, allowing to do literally everything withing Python.

Cons

More autocorrection and highlighting than I would like (can be switched off, but it's difficult and not for all options). Rather difficult to install additional packages which Python may need (again, not crucial, all most common packages like NumPy or SciPy are installed easily, the problem is only with some fancy packages).

### "Great software development tool, particularly for beginners"

May 24, 2022

5.0

Never ran into major issues, it was good to use with the group for teaching and developing. Its friendly interface made everything smooth.

Pros

It's extremely user-friendly, with great UX/UI, good features, and good supporting material online. It's a very nice tool, particularly for beginners who can edit, debug, and run their code in one single platform, without having to run separate software/commands. Very easy to download and install, it didn't require major updates or anything.

Cons

I used it for about 4 months over a university term, I don't have any complaints. It was a very nice tool for the applications we were using (simple Python coding).

I used both, actually. I made the switch for a particular course I was teaching so that all student could have access to a very complete IDE they could run tests with their codes without having to run a separate terminal.

### "Most suitable IDE for developers working on or learning Python"

July 8, 2022

4.0

When I started to learn to code in python and then started building Machine Leaning Models, PyCharm was incredibly helpful with the tips and suggestions and its plugins has me feeling like a kid at a candy store.

Pros

The all in one feature of PyCharm, access to command line, connecting to the database, creating virtual environments, connecting with git repositories,. PyCharm saves time for me and makes everything all the more efficient.

Cons

With all the features that it offers, it took me some time to figure out all that the IDE has to offer, I am still figuring out some new feature.

### "Best IDE For Python related stuff."

June 23, 2022

5.0

Overall, when I want to work on mostly python related stuff I will definitely use this IDE as it accelerates progress more but when I will be working on mostly frontend code and not much python-based backend I would not use this as it slows me a little.

Pros

Being specific to only Python-related development really helps this IDE. Ready to use Python frameworks project files. We can also manage virtual environments in a really good way using this. A really good interface for using Git and Github which makes it very good for VCS.

Cons

Not a cons but I was having to use another code editor/IDE for the frontend, I was not that much comfortable using frontend libraries and languages in this IDE.

### "A comprehensive python IDE"

April 20, 2022

4.0

A great introduction to python with a fully functional IDE.

Pros

The variables pane is a fantastic tool for beginner python coders. It allows me to inspect the columns, attribute and functions within variables, this has really helped me develop my understanding of python.

Cons

There are too many tools and options, this overwhelms the beginner. Additionally, the conda integration isn’t that great. The process for integrating the conda python interpreter with PyCharm isn’t clearly documented on JetBrains website. Also, managing the conda environments from within PyCharm has a low success rate, often libraries will end up corrupted or conflicting. I exclusively use conda prompt to manage my python libraries.

### "Expensive but good IDE"

February 4, 2022

4.0

I like pycharm because I can easily look at the different databases I use and the integration with Git is perfect ( you can push only some changes in a file) but it is too expensive and difficult to custumize. If you spend enough time with a free IDE you can customize it and make it better than pycharm

Pros

It is really easy to use, really good if you are new to programming. It has a great support to version control system and different databases

Cons

It takes too long to load, customization is difficult, and adding extensions for other programming languages is not possible. Attaching a session to container is extremely difficult

### "Great tool for development with Robot Framework"

August 25, 2019

5.0

Use it daily with automation framework built using Robot Framework.

Pros

It is easy to set up and use. Color coding and moving around in code works well. Look and feel of intellij. Built in SVN support. No work to run application outside of the IDE. Can develop python functions as part of Robot Framework.

Cons

It has some bugs that pop up occasionally when you do things, and the bad part is they are not repeatable and you don't really know whay what you did caused the error. Occasionally to get rid of 'error' highlights you have to cut code and paste it back in, clearing up the error. It's an annoyance that doesn't detract from its functionality.

### "Great Python IDE with Most useful functionalities"

July 23, 2019

4.0

I use it daily for my python projects and i find it very helpful where I can maintain different environments for each project.

Pros

The application supports python modules and the ability to maintain different virtual python environments for each project. Installing new pip modules is very easy. Can connect to datasources very easily.

Cons

When installing pip modules, the error is not clearly identified. It says failed to install module, but most of the time, the error is not helpful enough to install it manually.

### "An hassle free and time saving IDE"

October 17, 2021

5.0

My overall experience using pycharm to learn and for python product development has been great and hassle free. A whole lot of structured tutorials on YouTube, plugins and fantastic debuging feature to reduce development time. It's a good IDE to work with. Never regretted using it.

Pros

The UI is enticing and facilitates easy learning and development without getting bored. The ability to debug code easily and availability of plugins makes it life saving IDE. And the plugins are not restricted , you can easily search and install 3rd party plugins which makes product development fast.

Cons

With the loads of plugins and libraries that it needs to load at startup, pycharm is slow while loading and it consumes ram memory which can easily be sorted by upgrading the ram. Apart from the memory and the initial boot speed, everything else about pycharm is perfect for me.

### "A charming Python development environment"

August 5, 2020

5.0

I am having a great experience with PyCharm with the community edition which is free. It is available in Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

Pros

PyCharm comes packed with almost all features that are needed for a Python developer for a productive environment. It's smart and predictive editor helps save a lot of time. It always helps to maintain a readable and neat code following PEP8 standards. In PyCharm debugging is very easy with break-points. It also has got a powerful native environment manager and a repository with almost every package which we can download directly. We can also use conda or pip manages in PyCharm. Making and managing the requirements file is easy and smart.

Cons

When it comes to low-end machines the software is a bit laggy. When it comes to PyCharm Professional Edition it is a bit too costly.

### "A real productivity boost"

December 11, 2019

5.0

I am developing Python project with more comfort and productvity.

Pros

Yes, I'm a Vim lover, but sometimes a full-fledged IDE is what you need. Indexing and code search are invaluable and PyCharm does that just better. Refactoring becomes a pleasure

Cons

Feature discoverability could definitely be improved, sometimes I discover a feature only because I'm pair-programming with a colleague who uses it. The memory footprint is also not exactly slim, but for all it does…
