Pros: Without a doubt, what I like most about Visual Studio Code is how fast it works on my computer. One click on the icon and it quickly opens with the last document on which I was working. It has a simple interface to use (see cons) and very neat, everything is easily found when you are working.

Widely recommended for web development since it works perfectly with languages such as PHP, Javascript and both processed and preprocessed styles.

Another feature that I love, is that it has integrated GIT, you can commit, push and version your work directly from the editor. Additionally, it has a powerful search engine to add extensions, turning the editor into an app with an endless number of great features

Finally it has support for all operating system versions, I use it on Mac, Windows and Linux without any problem.

Cons: The editor works perfectly, but it has something that I do not like, when you want to configure something of the application, you have to do it with code and it is a bit complicated to set the parameters since I do not know all the commands available for the configurations. This happens a lot with the extensions that configuring them in the editor is sometimes a headache. I think they should improve the configuration interface.

Overall: With VS Code I have found everything I need in a text editor to develop websites, fast, light and multiplatform. It has given me the opportunity to continue programming regardless of the fact that my computer is not so powerful.

Pros: Visual Studio Code is amazing! I use this Code Editor for my work in Unity, Ionic, some C# code editing, even Conflict solving. It does everything. The best part about the editor is the insane amount of community and official extensions you can add to it to make it do whatever you need to do. There's live share, there's whiteboard, there's voice chat, there's text chat, git management, git lens and I can go on. You can make it read and detect the syntax of almost any kind of language and work on it from the editor! I love it!

Cons: I wish it could edit C# projects by default and not have to rely on some extensions, .Net Core is becoming a big thing and having to rely on extensions or complicated setups to compile or run a .Net core Project from it, can be a tad annoying. Also since it's based on Electron tech, it can take a lot of resources or feel sluggish on older PCs.

Overall: Every day at work you'll see me with Visual Studio Code open because it has become a big part of my work routine. I edit scripts on it, use extensions and use it for git management and conflict solving.

Pros: Visual Studio Code has a unique place right now in the market just because of its feature i have no words about this tool.One of the best thing of this tool is that Github support so we can commit our project without any command with using of this.We can comment our multiple line code in short way just press of "ctrl + /". CMD feature is another ultimate feature of this or also we can open our project in vs code with the help of command prompt.So finally it is totally wordless platform for development.

Cons: I am using this tool from last one year but i just faced till now only one issue if your project size is little large so it create some hanging problem with that in the opening of starting.Otherwise its ultimate editor.

Overall: As a full stack developer i like this tool from starting to till now in my development carrier i am continuously using this tool and every time it give me better result with good satisfaction because i am worked from starting in large group of team so its very helpful.

Pros: Feature-rich as a text editor, lightweight and extensible as an IDE;

Configuration through GUI or text files allows easy backup of your settings;

Design is fresh and minimalistic;

Interfaces designed with keyboard users in mind, handy shortcuts, autocomplete and navigation;

Built-in terminal window with good rendering performance and customisations;

Decent support for many programming languages through extensions - work in almost any language learning just one editor;

Active development fostered by Microsoft and a welcoming developer community on GitHub

Constantly improved support for editing Jupyter notebooks (interactive Python) as if they were plain text.

Very decent Git support with diff view.

Cons: Sometimes configuring certain functionalities is tricky, like getting reliable Python support on Windows. This gradually improves over time, documentation is decent.

Overall: Working in VS Code both on personal and work projects I found it extremely flexible tool. You can start with a simple view and gradually add things like linters, autoformat, vim-style navigation as your needs grow.

Developers pay attention to issues and feature requests from the users and as a result every release notes contain a new feature / design change that rings the bell 'hey, I thought this should be changed like that'. This is how software should be developped.

Pros: Visual Studio is one perfect IDE product by Microsoft and I am really glad to have this experience. It is user friendly, easy to learn, quick debugging etc. On the other hand visual of product makes programming experience enjoyable. It supports multiple languages: I have used it for c#,c, python and java projects but I know it also support c++ and PHP. You can write and control your code very fast, and it gives you very good ideas how to fix your code. I recommend it especially for complicated coding projects due to efficiency and performance of product. Lastly Microsoft updates product regularly and takes consider of costumers view.

Cons: There is not too much to say as negative. It is really good IDE platform after you use others. But I want to add that error messages are not sometimes clear and do not help me. Error messages can be improved for more understandable messages.

Overall:

If you are new coder, I highly recommend to use it. It is commonly used platform at this area and it is easy to learn. It provides a lot of features for you. If you are not new coder and you do not know Visual Studio, I suggest you to discover it.

Pros: Visual Studio Code is one of the simplest but powerful text editor for programmers with IDE features. VSCode is a lightweight app which will start in few seconds after opening and has it own library of extension that includes from language support tools to visualizing tools. VSCode also includes a built in terminal which let the users to select which terminal should be used.

One of the best features in VSCode is best visualization of merge conflicts in version controlling. It shows the user what the conflicts as in incoming changes and current changes and the options to select apply incoming changes, current changes or to keep both. User does not have to check line by line to fix the conflicts but can fix by a single click.

Cons: Visual Studio Code is an excellent product which has nothing to dislike about.

Pros: This tool is the right tool for the developers who are writing codes in different languages and who wants simple and easy to use IDE. You can download this tool for free and use it immediately. The software supports all the languages and it is not a problem to change to other language within application. Just create a folder and start writing your codes.

Cons: The only problem with this tool is that it does not provide autosave, for example if you writing some HTML codes you need to press save button each time, the changes will not be saved automatically. Moreover, for specific languages you need to download third party software in order to have code completion and error checking.

Overall: As I am a software developer, I am using this tool at my work and this is very useful for me. I like this tool because it is very lightweight and does not take too much resource from your pc.

Pros: Plugins that are made by the community for VS Code are amazing. They tend to be high quality, relatively updated and most importantly, used by the masses. And I mean millions.

It makes a difference when you see a plugin used by 100+ thousand people. But you see, that is the thing, you need plugins. It won't work till you install something to make it work.

But once you do, boot ups are fast. Changing tabs is fast. Opening files are fast. It is just fast.

Cons: I used to be from a full-fledge IDE. This makes anything else looks like a cheap piece of software.

The need to install plugins for support of certain languages and toolings, feels annoying to do when you have multiple machines - especially with the need to sync up those plugins(there is a plugin to sync your plugins across your machines).

Pros: 1. It is suitable for many programming languages like angular, r programming, python etc.

2. There are many community-made plugins available which handle our tasks efficiently.

3. It has support for debugging,terminal window, access, activity bar, theming, etc, which help in using just one software for doing the full fledge programming.

Cons: Initially it might be a little complex to understand, but later on as you get more hands on it gets easier.

Nevertheless its quite recommended to program as it works well for multiple os.

Overall: Visual studio code helped a lot during front end developnent using node js and angular.

The dark theme is my most favorite feature.

Pros: It's fast, and supports most features found in JetBrains IDEs. That's quite good for a fully open source IDE.

Cons: Git integration is very bad. Browsing the git history of the current file, comparing its current version with the version on a server, browsing the tree. That kind of features. Git integration in VS Code is very simplistic. It needs to be brought to JetBrains IDE level. Also, support for Ruby is a third party integration. Microsoft should provide official support, including IntelliSense, and being able to jump to the source code of gems used in the project (that are stored outside of the project tree).

Overall: I used JetBrains IDEs for many years. They have always been the best for power users. That said, Visual Studio Code is very close to claim the IDE superiority from JetBrains.

Pros: VSCode is super lightweight but comes action packed with available extensions to allow the user to customize the IDE perfectly with their own workflow. The keyboard shortcuts are endless and allow for speedy development.

Cons: It can have a little steep learning curve at first. Especially when working with C++ that needs to be compiled. It's possible to build within VSCode, but you have to install a few extensions and jump through some hoops to make it work seamlessly.

Overall: This is the best piece of software ever developed by Microsoft. I recommend it to everyone I work with. Absolutely love this software.

Pros: Even when it's an electron app, it's so optimized that doesn't feel slow or like is eating your resources like competitors such as Atom. The amount of plugins and the level of customization is so big that you will never run out of options to create the environment you need.

Cons: Even with the amazing level of optimization, there's still some leftover of the resource usage that comes with being based on Electron. Some plugins (mostly the ones using Java) tend to slow down a little bit on peak usage.

Overall: 100% satisfactory, if not my first, it's one of the first programs I install on my OS.

Pros: 1. The program has very good IntelliSense - it provides you smart completions based on your defined variable types, functions, and imported modules.

2. There is a debug mode - you can easily debug with breakpoints, see what is stored in variables and what actually happens in your logic.

3. It supports Git. You can easily use Git commands to upload your projects, to commit new changes, to compare files and many other things.

4. You can add different extensions to VS Code.

5. VS Code supports many different programming languages.

6. There is a version for Windows, For Linux and for iOS - which makes you easy to have it on different platforms.

7. You can easily search your code with peek and navigate to definition tools.

8. You can easily edit your code - using multi-cursor editing, parameter hints, and many other editing tools.

Cons: Till now I have not experienced any inconvenience with using the program, so I do not have any negative opinion for it.

Overall: I have been using it for editing my code. It is a pretty simple but very powerful program for doing this. I feel comfortable when using the product because it supports easy working which makes things go faster and work to be done on time.

Cons: It takes a bit of time to get used to how some files are opened temporarily when clicking once, I still feel there's a lot of functionality I haven't figured out yet.

Overall: I really like this, love having push, pull and commit on a single click and the interface is great and easy to use.

Pros: I have tried various programs and Visual Studio Code is my favorite. It is simple, easy to use. There are a vast number of extensions that can be install to help and make the code writing process easier. Being able to integrate with GitHub is a fantastic feature. Being able to see my code in one window and it's execution in the terminal window are a great plus. Split screen is a nice feature to look through and troubleshoot code. I primarily use Visual Studio Code for Python and R and it's great for both. I even use this software as a general text editor as well from time to time. I like being able to create workspaces where I keep my projects neat and tidy. This software is updated frequently and has minimal bugs.

Cons: Integration of workspaces could be a little more seamless. It's not overly intuitive how workspaces are set up and could be executed better. Other than that, this product is great and there really isn't a whole lot to complain about.

Pros: The ease of use while having incredible complexity. This Editor is more like an IDE than an editor. There is actually no feature missing I have ever wanted to use.

Cons: I had trouble installing the terminal on OSX, and I've seen lots of other people having the same problem by the time I was looking for a solution. After that, setup was easy. I also don't like the way text gets highlighted in bracelet but this might be customisable. If I want to work just in one file or I need to copy something out of a file from a different project, I prefer another editor because VSCode then includes the new opened projects version control. If you close the file it is still in the version control tab and needs to be closed manually.

Overall: I found my perfect solution to work on complex projects. I still use Sublime Text 3 for small changes.

Pros: I enjoy using Visual Studio Code because of how flexible the application is with different programming languages. This is important for me because I work with a variety of languages and leverage this application when taking classes as well.

The speed of the software is amazing, doesn't require great specs to use the application. A simple click and it quickly opens up allowing you to create programs in a variety of languages. I love the GIT integration with visual studio because it allows you to bypass the tedious steps when pushing code from the command line.

Cons: The only negative I have found is python support with this application. The python integration is a little spotty but can be fixed if configured correctly.

Overall: Using Visual Studio Code has been great whether performing your job or working on side projects. I highly recommend any non-experienced programmer to use this project if they're looking for an easy to use environment without much setup.

Visual Studio Code is consistent across the different OS platforms so it's easy to get used to if you switch from one OS to another

Cons: The plugin options can be overwhelming when using the software for the 1st time. as well as getting used to integrating the different compilers that one would like to use

Pros: Visual studio code is one of most famous code editor use by the developers all over the world. It's a open source and cross platform. Also it's more faster than the visual studio. This also given the debugging and built in git version control to the developer.

Cons: It hasn't most of the features in full IDE suite. So it maybe difficult in some situations. Also the file search is slow than VS. Also it give make more launch time.

Overall: Whatever overall experience of using VS code is better than other code developing applications in Mac devices and Widows devices.

Pros: is extremely easy to use for being very intuitive menus and features. Productivity increases greatly by using this because the developer really focuses on the code and has many tools at their fingertips. This has many plugins that add a lot of power according to the language you are using.

Cons: Unlike the Enterprise version, I could not deploy the application to the server automatically.

Overall: Very pleased with the features and facilities. Congratulations on the Microsoft initiative.

Pros: VS Code is incredibly intuitive, easily extendable and completely free. I used Sublime Text for about a year, before switching to VS Code and I would never go back. VS Code's best feature is how easy it is to browse, install and manage plugins and extensions. I found it far easier than installing plugins in Sublime Text.

Cons: VS Code eats up lots of RAM when running, which can be a pain. Other than that, I have no real complaints.

Pros: VS Code supports almost every language you can think of due to the extension community it offers. This means that syntax highlighting is supported for all the coding you do, allowing you to write better organized and efficient code. This is probably the best reason why I reccomend this IDE.

Cons: The keyboard shortcuts on VS code are sometimes non-intuitive which is why I was unmotivated to learn them. The layout of the IDE also requires sometime to get used to and it took me some time to get to know where everything is. However, they struggles are only temporary as with time, you will get used to everything.

Overall: I don't have anything else to say but it's still one the best, if not the best, IDE's out there. Highly recommend.

Pros: I like the customization that is allowed with VS code. VS code allows the user to download individual packages for customization. All packages are free, and allow the user to optimize use. This allows me to have a very lightweight IDE for development.

It works very well for being a Full Stack developer because it works very well with different software languages and debuggers.

Cons: I have struggled using R in this IDE. I hope they will improve the functionality of it. RStudio has no current competitors. I don't understand why.

Pros: I really liked the easiness and simplicity of the file browsing interface. Navigating through my folders while working and easily locating any file in the project was the thing that sold me to VS Code. Plus, its packed with a bunch of other tools, functionality and plugins. You can have your own workspace tailored for your project needs.

Cons: When first booting up, the software text editor was often popping up with lots of messages from file, variable and functions suggestions. This turned out a bit bothersome at first, but once you customize your autocorrect preferences everything runs smoothly.
