### "A generic editor for all languages"

October 10, 2022

4.0

This is very good editor if you have to work with multiple languages and one you get hands on it, trust me you won't switch to any other editor easily.

Pros

This editor is really good for writing code in any language. Editor provides lot of supporting plugins that keeps on upgrading time to time with new features. Highly customizable and easily deployable. Can be configured with git repos also.

Cons

So far not fatal, but it is a generic editor so user needs to customize it and ir can vary from language to language.

### "Visual Studio Code: Code editor developpment tool"

January 26, 2023

5.0

I recommend Visual studio code since it simplified most of our tasks and made development easier and faster.

Pros

Visual Studio is an easy-to-use code editor that provides extensions for many programming languages. It gives you suggestions and simplifies every development task

Cons

The thing I dislike about visual studio code is the popups that constantly appear at the bottom of the page. Sometimes they cover the code being edited

### "The best all-around IDE"

October 18, 2022

5.0

My favorite IDE for any language/technology

Pros

It's light, a huge collection of extensions that may transform Visual Studio Code in an IDE for anything

Cons

Some extensions are full of bugs or not supported anymore. Some changes in the early versions broke a lot of things, now it's much more stable

When I started working with other languages, instead of Java, the extensions support os VS Code made this much easier, since I have always the same IDE (shortcuts, font configuration, etc) but tailored for any language that I needed to use

### "Best Text Editor Ever "

July 8, 2019

5.0

My overall experience is good. I’ve been using it it for a couple of years now both on Windows and Mac, and it is a great tool.

Pros

I teach a class online and this is the text editor I recommend my students to download because it is such a great tool. For starters it’s free, so everyone can be uniformed and not lost when it comes to lectures. The marketplace has many extensions for VS Code, so you can customize your text editor to make life easier for you. I just love this editor.

Cons

I don’t think I have anything I don’t like really. They have pretty much everything and they sometimes accommodate you with things like key bindings and themes to make it look like a text editor you’re used to.

### "Top tier code editor"

August 5, 2021

5.0

Very positive experiance, the editor is stable and the plugins work very well.

Pros

Full feature set of plugins as to be expected with any well-developed editor. Highly customisable interface and of course the cost, which is free.

Cons

Finding your away around can be a bit daunting when you first start, and some text file editing might be required to get things how you like them.

### "One of the best IDE's"

July 26, 2019

5.0

My overall experience with it would be that now that I have used it and am using it. I can't seem to find a reason to move away from it.

Pros

Visual Studio code is honestly one of the best IDE's out there. Microsoft basically took some of the best text editing tools and IDE's and built VS Code. VS Code is great because not only does it function like visual studio, but it allows you to add on or take out from it as needed. With the addition of being able to SSH and edit code from outside your pc now it's really awesome. Also code share allows 2 or more people to actively code together on the same document in real time.

Cons

My ESLint server in VS Code broke, and I can't seem to find a fix for it.

### "The Most Powerful Code Editor/IDE Hybrid"

October 7, 2022

5.0

Pros

The high availability of extensions is what makes VSCode extremely powerful. It allows you to customize it to a considerable extent to tailor it to your use case. Since it is pretty barebones out of the box, it ensures that it is incredibly lightweight out of the box as well.

Cons

The main con with VSCode is also its biggest pro. A plethora of choices and customisation. Compared to alternative IDEs, VSCode, out of the box, lacks some creature comforts, which other IDEs have made an opinionated choice about.

### "The first software I download on each new system"

April 13, 2021

5.0

It is, without a doubt the best developer IDE irrespective of the language of coding. Extensions for each of these languages can be installed and this helps easily identify and correct errors while programming itself. It also has an inbuilt console and debugger. The most useful extension of VS code is its ability to connect to a remote machine and code from the application without having to use a VM.

Pros

\- Elegant and user friendly UI with loads of inbuilt functionalities - Black theme with coloring for keywords - Multiple tiny features that help developers to code easily like group intending, coloring for the keywords, inbuilt debugger etc. - Multiple extensions that can be enabled with ease - Server/network extensions to connect with and develop directly on the remote server without having to use a VM

Cons

\- The network extension sometimes find it difficult to connect to the server and this has been an issue for several users for quite some time and still has not been fixed

### "Something for everything"

September 20, 2019

4.0

Despite it being slow at times with excessively large projects, it is still my go-to editor for anything, even just plain text. It requires some setting up sure, but that in itself is fun as it gives VS code a 'personal' feel.

Pros

The size of the extension market place, the simple interface, the speed and integrations especially for developing in typescript. The number of options the software allows users to tweak is really useful.

Cons

Some extensions can be heavy, and on projects that grow particularly large, this could result in laggy performance.

### "The most complete code editor at the moment"

January 25, 2023

5.0

Pros

The features of VS are innumerable, but we can highlight several:- It is free.- Easy to use.- It is open source.- It has a complete community- It allows the installation of all kinds of plugins.- Different languages.- Constant updates and improvements- Adaptable to all kinds of programming languages.JavaScript, Python, Java, MarkdownTypeScript, C/C++, JSON, Powershell, HTML/CSS, C#, PHP, YAML and others. In addition to this, it has versions for Mac, Windows and Linux.- GitHub support is already integrated into Visual Studio, allowing us to share our code with the team with just one click.

Cons

it has little to correct, maybe an external factor, being open source, many plugins are developed by its community, so it lacks support or may have bugs, but these are things that the community itself is improving.

### "Perfect for developing React apps"

July 17, 2020

5.0

Very positive, it does what I need it to do, and I've had no issues setting anything up.

Pros

I downloaded VS Code as I'd started developing ReactJS apps and it was recommended by a friend. It works well, and the range of plugins is good - I'm able to connect to GitHub and deploy to Azure directly from VS Code. It was all well-documented and easy to set up.

Cons

Nothing really. It works pretty well. I guess it would be nice if it was more "integrated"; for example, if I create a constants file and then import it from a component, it would be nice if the auto-complete options were populated with the constants (currently it seems to add them as I use them).

### "Best lightweight code editor"

October 6, 2020

5.0

It is a light, fast, customizable, integrated code editor. If you want the benefits of an IDE and the speed of a code editor, VS Code is the choice.

Pros

It is fast and efficient. It has a rich marketplace. Very good customization settings. You can write in almost all languages with perfect support features like code completion.

Cons

Since its open source, sometimes some annoying bugs happen and may take some time to get fixed. Nothing major but if it hits something you like, you'll have to wait a couple of weeks to get it back.

### "Visual Studio Code Review"

May 21, 2019

5.0

I have been using it for editing my code. It is a pretty simple but very powerful program for doing this. I feel comfortable when using the product because it supports easy working which makes things go faster and work to be done on time.

Pros

1\. The program has very good IntelliSense - it provides you smart completions based on your defined variable types, functions, and imported modules. 2. There is a debug mode - you can easily debug with breakpoints, see what is stored in variables and what actually happens in your logic. 3. It supports Git. You can easily use Git commands to upload your projects, to commit new changes, to compare files and many other things. 4. You can add different extensions to VS Code. 5. VS Code supports many different programming languages. 6. There is a version for Windows, For Linux and for iOS - which makes you easy to have it on different platforms. 7. You can easily search your code with peek and navigate to definition tools. 8. You can easily edit your code - using multi-cursor editing, parameter hints, and many other editing tools.

Cons

Till now I have not experienced any inconvenience with using the program, so I do not have any negative opinion for it.

### "Probably the best text editor out there!"

August 12, 2021

5.0

I've been using it to code in PHP, JavaScript, write CSS and HTML, read JSON files, SQL, Java, C# - you name it! It has been very stable and it gets regular updates, Microsoft did a really good job with it.

Pros

It's Open Source and it's highly customizable, can accommodate any type of developmnet work. With many add-ons available for it you can even turn it into a full IDE - if you need to.

Cons

It's an Electron app, so it could be faster if it was a native desktop app, but it's not such a big deal as modern computers have a lot of power available.

### "Programmare tutto con un software"

September 7, 2023

4.0
