### "Code with confidence"

July 31, 2020

5.0

If you had told me five years ago that Microsoft would have a free solution to code editing, I would have laugh but here we are. Not only is it free but Visual Studio Code has become to the go to text editor for most in the programming industry. Web, Java, C++, Python it doesn’t matter what your working with Visual Studio Code can function with any language and with an active community creating plugins VS Code will always support whatever your working on. I most use it for web design as I can custom snap in a terminal window and work with composer or my custom scripts to get my work done.

Pros

VS Code is as close as a text editor can get to being an IDE. So, you have access to code recognition, custom color coding, and language specific code formatting. Code debugging is also possible. This means that errors made will be identified by VS Code. With access to CLI you can work on your files and execute commands in the same workspace. This makes working with tools like Composer, MySQL or Node.js easy. You can also integrate windows PowerShell for additional functionality. It supports Microsoft Azure cloud platform so working with my Azure website is easier than ever and because it also supports Git and GitHub I can implement my changes, commit and see my updates in real time on my Azure sites. Vs is very customizable and be tailored to match you style.

Cons

If anything, I can say is that to get the best out of VS Code you will have to install plugins. Plugins can affect your overall user experience. VS Code without plugins is a basic text editor just like any other text editor. How well these plugins function and work together will take some trial and error. It definitely takes some time to figure out how you want to utilize VS Code for your day to day tasks.

### "Best Text Editor "

October 5, 2022

5.0

Overall I love to use visual studio code and its features help me lots in my work. The extentions it provide, Themes and format support etc.

Pros

Visual studio code is the one fo the best text editor software. As a devloper it is very important to manage large code of programming efficiently. and I can manage this by using the VS code.

Cons

For some language like C and C++ it needs to install other software and that makes it some complex to use.

### "Code editor for professionals."

September 23, 2023

5.0

Pros

The major pro of this software is it's completely free to use. The way UI is built is highly professional. The software is stable and reliable.

Cons

The only con I would say is resolving conflicts on this is not very efficient. I have faced minor bugs when using dark theme but they can be ignored not a big issue.

### "VSCode is the best code editor ever"

November 15, 2023

5.0

It has been the most powerfull code editor i have tried. The best thing about it is that, being so popular and used by to many users, finding error solutions on the internet is really easy and it is continuously impronving thanks to users reviews.

Pros

The most important feature of VSCode are plugins. They allow their user to adapt their coding or text editing environment to their needs, and the popularity of this code editor makes day-by-day a better experience to find and use plugins to achieve our objectives.

Cons

Sometimes the integrated terminal inside the code editor has problems with version control system. Sometimes it is laggy and it is necessary to reload the editor so that changes work.

### "Heart for coder"

March 16, 2023

5.0

Overall experience is before VS code we can coding but vs code give us more flexibility to work with this and it give us more confidence for not leave coding if it is better so that all believe in this

Pros

From the beginning of my journey is starting from VS Code, this software gives us all functionality that a coder needs, it has too many extensions which help us to make our work easy and give us more comfortable using this tool, It also has connectivity without GitHub so that it gives us vision what we are doing changes and all, we can sync our account so that we can sync all the setting and get whenever we want so this is all about VS code

Cons

Till now we do not find any type of issue with our VS code they are giving us update on immediate bases so solving bug is most priority for VS code developer and it is also a bug solver for us, so this tool will not disappoint you

### "The Next IDE generation"

September 24, 2019

5.0

Is my everyday tool. I use it for taking notes as for develop. Is fast and thats is very helpful, if you need to test something small you are not going to open VS that take time to open, Code take miliseconds and is perfectly integrated with windows explorer, so it's adds a lot of productivity for your daily work.

Pros

It basically started as a complement to Visual Studio for js projects, and ended up as the trend IDE. It provides the performance of a simple text editor and the characteristics of a great IDE like its older brother. The extension market covers any language and any tool, you can integrate it with anything a developer uses. Very well equipped for React / Angular / Net Core project and, at the same time, a fluid experience that adds productivity to your development. And you can also use it as a text editor for notes, documentation, markdown.

Cons

Comming from Microsoft, it is incrdible that it is not compatible with .Net Framework projects. Supports JS, python, PHP, anything, but not .Net Framework. For debugging tools, some features of his older brother are still missing.

### "The Best Code Editor VS CODE"

April 2, 2024

4.0

I love VS code although I was overwhelmed at first but as of now its the go to code editor for me as it facilitates all my needs with its easy to use system, wide community and numerous extensions and very nice customer support.

Pros

I loved how it can be integrated with my previous work files as well as the community for it huge which helps when a certain issue arises. In addition to that the wide range of extensions present are also a huge bonus.

Cons

Some cons about VS Code is that it is confusing sometimes as there a lot of features present and it might get overwhelming to a beginner.

### "Is Visual Studio Code the best text compiler?"

September 21, 2022

4.0

Since my beginnings in programming, the experience I have in Visual Studio Code is very good, simple, without scratches in the middle and practical. I use it in my studies and my work.

Pros

Easy to use, practical, very varied extensions. I would like to emphasize that it was the one I liked the most in terms of aesthetics and applicability with the proogramming lenjuages that I use daily.

Cons

Maybe the problems of phyton and libraries. The python console has a hard time recognizing windows characters. Fortunately in linux I didn't have those problems.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

It was the one that caught my attention at first sight, the colors and it didn't look so empty. A lot of aesthetics at first and then its practicality.

### "My review for VS Code after using 1 Year"

August 31, 2023

4.0

If I would tell my Overall experience using VS Code, that is awesome and very time saving. I have also recommended this app to my college friends. They are preparing for the Placements and finding it very time saving. Also, there are too many features in app. Some of them are not explored by me yet after using for more than 1 year.

Pros

The best thing I found in Visual Studio Code, is the auto correction feature and extensions for different languages and uses. It saves my time so... so much. There are also different themes available in the application. Also, the User experience I got from VS Code is amazing. There are also some more features which I do not get from other softwares.

Cons

All the features are awesome and very useful. Everything is good! But one thing I would like to tell that sometimes I work on my code and suddenly app closes. I don't know, is it an app glitch or my system incompatibility. Yeah! that's all.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

Yeah, I already told because of features and extensions I found in vs code. Also the popularity of this app attracted me.

### "Visual Studio Code - The leading code editor"

August 13, 2022

It has always been great and still using it.

Pros

I like how you can easily integrate different IDE. You can manage all dependencies in your VS Code. It allows different code templates that accord to the programming language you are using. Also, it has a large community that offers a great deal of help. As a coder, I would highly recommend using this code editor.

Cons

Be aware that when using a code template for a specific language be sure to check on settings that you are using the correct template to avoid overlapping of color-coded templates that would result in code typo errors.

### "VS Code General Review"

November 1, 2019

4.0

VS Code is so cool and compared to other Text Editors, to me it's definitely the best. Developer friendly, nice user interface and many extensions that really facilitate coding.

Pros

\- VS Code is constantly automatically updated with new features - VS Code has the Command Line Interface (CLI) directly built in it which enables me to run any git command directly in the editor, without open command prompt. - It's free, developed and maintained by a tech giant: Microsoft. - It's so easy to use, as well as it is easy to install extensions to have more functionalities. - I'm in love with the extension: Code share which enables me to share and live-edit my code with other team members. Remote Workspace which enables me to edit files on a hosting account directly via FTP.

Cons

\- Sometimes slow to launch - Too many confusing functionalities.

### "Best code editor for every software & web developer"

November 17, 2019

5.0

As a Software developer & a web developer, I use the Visual Studio Code for my coding, debugging & DevOps needs. Also recently I started to flutter mobile app development.

Pros

Before I'm using the Visual Studio Code (VS Code) I used many types of code editors some of them are Sublime Text & Atom. But they were way more complex to understand. But the Visual Studio Code is very easy to familiar. VS Code has the most number of plugins to each language & framework. Even the newest frameworks have stable plugins. Other Code Editors consumes more CPU usage while the VS Code uses when it's only needed. VS Code also integrates the DevOps such as Git. But when it comes to Sublime text Git support is provided as the premium feature.

Cons

VS Codes' git plugins enable in the default settings. This is sometimes a headache for me. Another thing is sometimes Visual Studio Code fails to detect the settings for some languages. As an example I recently VS Code for PHP Coding. I used the CodeIgniter framework for that. Before that, I've installed PHP but VS Code has failed to detect the pre-installed PHP on my computer. Another thing is when we have to do a setting most of the time I had to edit a JSON file. One mistake can make the software completely corrupted. So there is no undoing.

### "The most complete code editor"

July 26, 2023

4.0

Pros

What I like the most about it is its wide customizability, being able to customize the development environment as much as the user wants.

Cons

What I like the least could be that it could be noted as slower and a heavier memory and battery consumer in comparison with other lighter editors.

Pros

A snappy editor with a huge ecosystem of plugins. It works great, the command palette rocks and language support is second to none. Nicely configurable, but unlikely to suck you into hours and hours of customization (sorry emacs lovers).

Cons

### "Visual Studio Code, the best coding buddy you could ask for"

August 31, 2023

5.0

We are using Visual Studio Code to program and develop software, we have a team using it with JS, another team with GO and I am using it with Python, it speaks for itself when it's cross-compatible in multiple languages.

Pros

Visual Studio made coding fun and easy, integration was really easy, all you need to do is install it and start coding, shortcuts are insanely useful, and plugins are out of this world.

Cons

I think some kernel selection in Python could be improved, sometimes it doesn't detect the one it's supposed to and you get some weird errors, but It has improved a lot since last version, hope it keeps going that way.

### "User friendly code editor with amazing featuers"

March 26, 2024

5.0

Visual Studio Code has been the only code editor I have used since 2020 when I started learning to code. I have never had issues with this editor and its simplicity and at the same time its complexity has allowed me to learn a lot about programming, source code managing, version control, and more. I've tried Visual Studio Code on Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) and I had zero issues on both OS.

Pros

You can integrate it wih anything you like: plugins, themes, extensions etc. You can manage versions of your project integrating Git and GitHub. You can customize the UI with the hundreds of plugins available. One of my favorite features is "Open with VS Code" so you can open up your folders/files directly with Visual Studio Code.

Cons

The bug tracking feature still confuses me and I have not been able to use it at its finest.

### "VSCode and the turnover of the market"

March 21, 2024

5.0

Pros

It's free, open-source, highly maintained, compatible with all platforms, highly configurable, easy to develop for and on. Huge online community and contributors and high integration with almost any available product out there.

Cons

Projects are scoped into project files, and it's quite difficult to manage in a single windows all the other projects that you might be working at the same time with different configurations. This also includes the ssh tunnels to server machines to visualize the folder and file structure and make real time modifications, which requires you most of the time to have a separate window instead of a tab in the same one.

Overall experience is super awesome. In my 8 years of web development journey, this is the only tool which doesn't have an alternative.

Pros

\- If you are a web developer, it has everything you need. I never felt need for its alternative. - The code editor its build on top of, its cool. I myself use the same open source technology on many projects. So its kind of personal favourite for me. - You get extensions for almost everything. Plus being a developer you can build any extensive you need. - Whether I am on a Windows Pc or Ubuntu or Mac, I can get same experience. If it had cloud support for settings & config, that would be awesome.

Cons

\- Its built on top on chrome, so it comes with its issues. I.e. slow, consume more memory etc. You can easily differentiate performance of vscode and sublime. - It should provide a cloud support for settings and user preferences. Whenever I switch machines or operating system, I have to migrate all the settings & configs. Simple user sign in and sync like in Google chrome would be nice.

### "The most versatile source-code editor"

July 2, 2022

5.0

VS Code is my favorite code editor for web application and Python.

Pros

VS code is an open source source-code editor which means it is built for developers by developers. The app is very easy to use and supports many programming languages and frameworks with the help of extensions. The look and feel of the app is also highly customizable. VS Code is available on Windows, Linux and Mac and also easily accessible as a web application via any popular browser. The Live Share extension allows programmers to share the project with collaborators to edit and voice chat over the Internet in real-time. Other useful features include intelligent code completion, syntax highlighting, remote connection (also with WSL), code snippets and source control with embedded Git. Many programmers now use VS Code to code for Android using Flutter.

Cons

Some settings are not very easy to toggle. For some extensions also the settings are not so easy as they require configuration file changes which might be difficult for beginner users. Sometimes the name 'Visual Studio Code' confuses people with Microsoft's IDE 'Microsoft Visual Studio'.

Switched from

[Sublime Text](https://www.capterra.com/p/179535/Sublime-Text/)

There are a lot of plugins and projects management related functionalities available on VS Code when compared to the slightly light weight Sublime. Finding and installing plugins in VS Code is relatively easier than Sublime.

### "Visual studio code is a blessing for software engineering students."

July 5, 2023

5.0

Pros

I like many things about Visual Studio Code, but here are a few of my favorites:It's free and open source. This means that anyone can use it, and the community is constantly contributing new features and improvements. It's cross-platform. You can use it on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It's highly customizable. You can change the look and feel of the editor, as well as the keyboard shortcuts and other settings. It has a great extension ecosystem.

Cons

I have a few minor gripes with Visual Studio Code, but overall I think it's a great code editor. Here are a few things that I don't like as much:The font rendering can be a bit inconsistent. This is especially noticeable on high-DPI displays. The debugger can be a bit slow, especially for large projects. The extension ecosystem is a bit overwhelming. There are so many extensions available that it can be hard to find the ones that you need. The default keybindings can be a bit awkward. I've had to change a few of them to make them more comfortable for me

### "VS- Code; a fantastic text editor"

September 27, 2020

5.0

VS-Code is fast, customizable, and supports multiple programming languages. It is great in visual tweaks, as it is well suited for syntax highlighting, autocomplete, and the snippets for indented Sass. Moreover, using VS-code is like using most out of it. With a single mnemonics, you can expand the texts with just a mnemonics and 'tab' key. VS-code has everything I need for front-end development. VS-Code offers a lot of features including IntelliSense, which is great in showing code hints and auto-completing just on steroids.

Pros

VS- Code is great when it comes to typing syntax, it provides better suggestions, and a little more info and briefings for every code you type. The next thing, I loved about VS-Code is debugging. It has an in-built git, extensions market, plugins, and more. The most significant thing about the VS-Code is the simple text editor that supports split-screen inside the text editor itself. VS-Code has its own terminal for development. I mostly use its internal terminal for changing directories, compiling, and debugging the programs. So, it's simply great I don't need external terminals or command prompts for executing my programs.

Cons

Since VS-Code is not particularly an IDE, it mainly depends on other IDE like Android Studio and JetBrains IntelliJ. In case if you need to extract codes or backups from these IDEs, it will be much of a hectic job, and this is much disappointing for the developers.
