### "The best code editor - A daily users review"

January 11, 2022

5.0

Transitioning to Visual Studio Code from another code editor was easy. I came from using IDEA's IntelliJ so I was used to their keybinds. Believe it or not, Visual Studio Code has an extension called "Darcula IntelliJ Theme" and "IntelliJ IDEA Keybinds" extension which made the switch easy. I haven't looked back and recommended Visual Studio Code to all developers and software engineers.

Pros

As a daily user of Visual Studio Code, I really like the overall experience Visual Studio Code offers. I have worked using IDE's (Integrated development environment) for the past 12 years and have used a handful including Sublime Text, IntelliJ IDEA, Webstorm, and kept coming back to Visual Studio Code. Why? Because not only is it free, but the community support is incredible and there are Extensions you can add for anything you can think of. Want a dark mode? No problem. Want docker, python, or yaml support? No problem, there are extensions for that too. Visual Studio Code just works. It's simple, but can be expanded with Extensions making it unique and a very powerful editor.

Cons

The only drawback is out of the box (by default) there could be better code formatting and a variety of file extension support. Thankfully with the Visual Studio Code Extensions, this is not a major drawback as there are extensions you can quickly install to address this single con.

### "Meilleur éditeur de code"

November 3, 2022

5.0

### "An Efficient and fast opensource Code Editor with advanced customization features"

February 25, 2020

5.0

Best for small businesses and teams working, especially for websites and web apps. Lighter on your budget and computer system resources. You get a library full of extensions/plugins enhancing features. User-friendly interface together with simple settings configuration. Fully personalized it according to the color scheme, coding language, and feature needed. I highly recommend it as a good package tool for full-stack web developers and programmers.

Pros

I have been using MS Code to write and edit for web development and wordpress.t's very light on resources compared to full IDE's and available for multiple platforms OS. Small initial package to download and install. So it's being used for mostly web coding tasks in languages like Html, JS, CSS, and PHP. Community support is very great coming with new features and extensions with new updates. Documentation and many tutorials are available to learn it. The best features that I like in this code editor are syntax highlighting, error checking and IntelliSense.Lot's of extensions provided novel functionality. From theme to the language it is can be personalized to much extent.

Cons

Some extensions show internal conflict due to accessing the same part of API. Should handle conflicts efficiently. Debugging is sometimes a little bit confusing. More features like support for the desktop framework should be added like ASP.NET MVC Application.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

Built-in debugging and feature enriched environment with a huge library of plugins is its competitive unique useful features that I loved. great community support and tutorials also helped me decide to chose MS Code for web development work.

Experience everything comes down to this single point, the experince is always amazing no matter which file or project i open with VS Code they are all visaully enchanting to the mind i just want to immmerse myself in coding with VS Code being open. I mostly code php and js for my peers and belive me it's the best part about this software.

Pros

Ahh VS Code the perfect IDE i have found after countless trials of other IDEs it's easy to use, easy to integrate, and of cource easy to work on with countless addons from prefix checker to lint, been using it for past 3-4 years and everytime i hit my VS Code it's keep me interested in my work the theming capabilites were made for me as i am dark mode fanatic and using a material dark theme on VS Code is a gift from the heavens itself. I highly urge everyone who codes to use VS code atleast for once believe me you guys won't be dissappointed.

Cons

apart fromsome missing addons for famous languages like php laravel, and others? nah how can someone not like this amazingly creafted software that helps them code better and faster? i can't and will not have any least liked things about this.

### "One of the best IDEs for productivity development"

November 18, 2022

5.0

I'm satisfied with the product and would recommend it to everyone that's new to the world of software and web development. Once you give it a try, it'll be difficult to switch to an alternative IDE. Its lightweight features will make you stick to it.

Pros

The ability to integrate lots of various extensions is something that not every IDE offers. Its simple GUI is so simple to use and it provides a highly motivated productive application development. The integration with Version Control System (GitHub, GitLab ...) and the simple interface design to pull, push and sync the code are one of my favorite features. The support of many programming languages cannot go unnoticed and is an advantage of using VS Code.

Cons

I'd really be interested in seeing some more extensions in the marketplace for faster app development, and for increased performance, even though at present can't complain about it.

### "VS Code for All your text editing needs"

May 16, 2022

5.0

From the moment I installed and started VS Code, it's been an incredible journey. At least once a month, I find another use for VS-Code through an extension or via a blog post on how to use it more efficiently. It's helped with coding/scripting and general text manipulation. Editing CSV files, aligning text columns, syntax highlighting for every language and file format you can think of. It's light weight and works on any computer/operating system. It's ideal for use on multiple computers. It just works and I've never had ANY issues or crashes with it.

Pros

Out of the box the editing features are fantastic, including regex find and replace and multi-select. Adding to this you can customise and extend VS Code with thousands of different extensions for all your text manipulation needs. Code prediction, syntax highlighting and so much more. The ability to sync all your settings to the cloud makes things easy when moving between machines.

Cons

There is absolutely nothing I dislike about the software. It's so customisable that you can make it work how you need it to.

I initially switched from sublime text and Notepad++ because it was a free option and very cross platform, but with similar advanced text features, then stuck with it when I could customise it to work how I need it to. The library of plugins and suggestions it makes takes it over the top as a winner for me!

My overall experience was great and I'm satisfied with Visual Studio Code and it fulfills most of my coding needs pretty much.

Pros

Cons

Since it is a free software it lacks some features like dome plugins and integrations and helpful features which are only available in non free softwares.

### "Application that feels peaceful (or chaos) when the screen is turned on"

April 2, 2023

5.0

It is the developer environment that I usually use, from training to product. It is an application that is very common, very familiar and has more than enough features in my opinion.

Pros

It is open to use by everyone, offers all its features without any fee, facilitates access to those needed in the development environment with its third-party application support, and is quite sufficient for review, compilation, bug detection, real time development processes. One of the features I like is that it offers comfortable, customizable options for code readability.

Cons

On the code editing side (Tidy), I think it can offer better solutions. It may offer a more built-in solution for installation on the Mac side.Maven etc. It can be ensured that tools or Java simulators work more healthily.

### "A hollow shell of an IDE, which given the proper extensions is unstoppable"

September 21, 2019

5.0

A+. This IDE is nearly perfect.

Pros

The extensions are what make this IDE so good. This IDE starts simple and small. Built for executing JS code. But, add extensions to run other languages, and it does that too as if it was built to do that from the ground up. And it doesn't just stop at supporting other languages. Because of the sizable amount of Open source and freemium extension developer community, the features that can be added to this IDE is mind boggling. It starts as an empty shell. But boost it up with the extensions and this thing is a beast. And not to mention the themes. Oh the dark themes are love.

Cons

At this point it's nit picking, but the maybe have an user manual or guide for fresh coders. I would suggest everyone who is starting to code to start on Visual Studio Code. But, without proper guidance or the know how as to what to do about certain stuff( eg. setting the debug config json, or the Chrome live server), it becomes a little cumbersome to read stackoverflow and do it. It is perfectly fine for people who have been coding for a while now, but for people who are starting, it would be a big help.

### "Leggero, gratuito e robusto"

January 24, 2023

### "I switched from 'vim' for this gem"

January 7, 2022

5.0

I use VSCode every single day. It is the first software I open in the morning and the last one I close before leaving my office. It is powerful and extensible and I am doing more things every day. I also love the fast release development it has.

Pros

VSCode has everything a developer will ever need: it helps you to organize your work in projects, syntax highlight for almost everything, linters, integrated debuggers for many languages and platforms, it is extensible using plugins (and you can write your own) and it also ships with vim keybindings :-) At the beginning, I was reluctant on switching from my beloved 'vim' to VSCode, especially because it is a Microsoft product and I am a Linux user... but the software is Open Source, the community is really open and the software is so powerful I could not leave it behind.

Cons

Since it is based on Electron, it has some limitations of the platform it runs on. Especially when trying to open very big files, it may have problems (no problems like that using vim) Also, since the community is extremely large, sometimes your comments get ignored.

### "New way to code with ease and comfort Using VS CODE "

May 7, 2022

5.0

1\. Vs code provides an ease and gratification to my work . 2. It helps to write code in an interesting way and helped me alot in my journey of learning coding languages like java,c++, html. 3. It helps me to create more new ideas and implement them.

Pros

1\. Very easy interface which attracts a lot of users to use this software. 2. Allow users to install custom themes from the store which helps users to do coding interestingly. 3. Have autosave as well as auto-suggestion extensions available too. 4. Easy to install extensions 5. Allow user to install java JDK within application

Cons

1\. It sometimes consumes more CPU power and hence leads to a slow down of system processing. 2. Most frequent updates sometimes irritate the consumer. 3. Initial coding running process is a little bit confusing for beginners. 4. Unwanted pop-ups are being given to users every time they run the application.

### "Best software for programming"

May 26, 2022

I use it all day to write Typescript applications. It's fast and it makes Visual Studio look like a dinosaur in some aspects. It has replaced a lot of editors like Notepad++ even if I still use it as an editor on big files and powershell ISE to create powershell scripts. There is codelens (you have to activate it) and it's super handy.

Pros

Visual Studio Code has the following advantages Speed Excellent user experience. Debugging tools worthy of the Visual tradition. Thousands of extensions written by volunteers. Free (public source code). Fast update frequency. Relatively low demand on machine resources (compared to IntelliJ, Sublime) Fantastic code editing possibilities (exceeds Visual Studio)

Cons

It consumes battery in a short time and moreover you can't open different windows from the same project.

### "Best Code Editor on the Planet"

April 7, 2020

5.0

Visual Studio Code has been a revolution for the development world (especially for web developers) since its release, and it has only been getting better and better. I use it on a daily basis and love it.

Pros

\- Free and open-source with support from Microsoft ensuring the software will always be free and updated. - For a fully-fledged IDE, it is conservative on system resources and does not cause your computer to grind to a hang. - Has in-built support for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, so web developers can use it out of the box - Has extensive plugins and integration support for practically any language or platform you would like to develop in. - Can launch multiple screens which is convenient if you want to reference some piece of code from another file. - A big ecosystem of developers using it which means almost every common problem has been thought of and solved.

Cons

\- The extension host does tend to hang sometimes which means language features such as IntelliSense and code completion are unavailable while it waits for a refresh.

The integrated terminal for running the code makes it easy for me to show everything on-screen all at once. I can even all the windows in and out.

Pros

VS Code's customization makes tailoring the environment to your tastes and preferences quick and easy. Plugins can be enabled and disabled on-the-fly.

Cons

It can be difficult to set up certain advanced configurations, particularly around multiple shells (linux, powershell, etc) and multiple languages. You need an understanding of JSON notation to do it properly.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

### "Visual Studio Code - Lighter is not Lesser"

May 17, 2022

5.0

Visual Studio Code offers a flexible intermediate IDE, bridging simple code-proofing tasks and full-stack development. Ease-of-use, modularity, and very few limitations provided in a lightweight platform makes VSC an essential tool for anything ranging from concept to development. Extensive primary and tertiary support has made VSC our go-to companion for development.

Pros

What Visual Studio Code lacks in specialisation (compared to targeted IDEs), it makes up for in extensive language/platform support, a range of APIs maintained by both Microsoft and third parties, and a simple interface. It falls somewhere between a full IDE and a code editor, giving users a lightweight development platform or a sophisticated companion IDE depending on the use-case.

Cons

Support is outsourced to the community; although it is available, it falls short compared to the support available for paid IDEs.

### "You'll use it for your programing code sooner or later."

April 4, 2022

5.0

I will keep using it because it saves me time in using more than one language at the same time and with one click , unlike other editors specialize only in one programming language.

Pros

I will not overlook the most beautiful feature of Visual Studio, which is that it has all the languages that you will deal with in your life with only one program, that is, you will not tire yourself in installing a special program for each programming language, and this will make it easier for you to time when switching to more than programming language, and you will It deals with one user interface with all programming languages, not the case with other editors. It is also good that it has a powerful feature called it VS Live Share , that you can share your software with your friends or co-workers with the powers to modify the code or read only. Visual Studio Code allows us to colorize each slice, showing the scope of each function or class in the code, this feature is comfortable on the eye, used to make the code easier to read. Despite all this, the program is open source, and anyone can download it, and it works on many systems such as Windows, Linux and mac.

Cons

Sometimes , extensive use of this editor , takes up a lot of CPU space , and this is a bit annoying .
