### "Leggero, gratuito e robusto"

January 24, 2023

5.0

### "I switched from 'vim' for this gem"

January 7, 2022

5.0

I use VSCode every single day. It is the first software I open in the morning and the last one I close before leaving my office. It is powerful and extensible and I am doing more things every day. I also love the fast release development it has.

Pros

VSCode has everything a developer will ever need: it helps you to organize your work in projects, syntax highlight for almost everything, linters, integrated debuggers for many languages and platforms, it is extensible using plugins (and you can write your own) and it also ships with vim keybindings :-) At the beginning, I was reluctant on switching from my beloved 'vim' to VSCode, especially because it is a Microsoft product and I am a Linux user... but the software is Open Source, the community is really open and the software is so powerful I could not leave it behind.

Cons

Since it is based on Electron, it has some limitations of the platform it runs on. Especially when trying to open very big files, it may have problems (no problems like that using vim) Also, since the community is extremely large, sometimes your comments get ignored.

### "New way to code with ease and comfort Using VS CODE "

May 7, 2022

5.0

1\. Vs code provides an ease and gratification to my work . 2. It helps to write code in an interesting way and helped me alot in my journey of learning coding languages like java,c++, html. 3. It helps me to create more new ideas and implement them.

Pros

1\. Very easy interface which attracts a lot of users to use this software. 2. Allow users to install custom themes from the store which helps users to do coding interestingly. 3. Have autosave as well as auto-suggestion extensions available too. 4. Easy to install extensions 5. Allow user to install java JDK within application

Cons

1\. It sometimes consumes more CPU power and hence leads to a slow down of system processing. 2. Most frequent updates sometimes irritate the consumer. 3. Initial coding running process is a little bit confusing for beginners. 4. Unwanted pop-ups are being given to users every time they run the application.

Switched from

Because of its interface it's very hard to install extensions and make it difficult to create new, compile and run a new class in Java coding as well as in another coding languages too.

### "Best software for programming"

May 26, 2022

5.0

I use it all day to write Typescript applications. It's fast and it makes Visual Studio look like a dinosaur in some aspects. It has replaced a lot of editors like Notepad++ even if I still use it as an editor on big files and powershell ISE to create powershell scripts. There is codelens (you have to activate it) and it's super handy.

Pros

Visual Studio Code has the following advantages Speed Excellent user experience. Debugging tools worthy of the Visual tradition. Thousands of extensions written by volunteers. Free (public source code). Fast update frequency. Relatively low demand on machine resources (compared to IntelliJ, Sublime) Fantastic code editing possibilities (exceeds Visual Studio)

Cons

It consumes battery in a short time and moreover you can't open different windows from the same project.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

For me one of the best code editors, cross-platform. Installable everywhere, multi-configurable, pleasant, fast, what more could you ask for?

### "Best Code Editor on the Planet"

April 7, 2020

5.0

Visual Studio Code has been a revolution for the development world (especially for web developers) since its release, and it has only been getting better and better. I use it on a daily basis and love it.

Pros

\- Free and open-source with support from Microsoft ensuring the software will always be free and updated. - For a fully-fledged IDE, it is conservative on system resources and does not cause your computer to grind to a hang. - Has in-built support for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, so web developers can use it out of the box - Has extensive plugins and integration support for practically any language or platform you would like to develop in. - Can launch multiple screens which is convenient if you want to reference some piece of code from another file. - A big ecosystem of developers using it which means almost every common problem has been thought of and solved.

Cons

\- The extension host does tend to hang sometimes which means language features such as IntelliSense and code completion are unavailable while it waits for a refresh.

### "One of the best IDEs for programming and development"

February 3, 2022

5.0

I use VS Code to teach multiple online / zoom classes. I can open multiple programs at the same time and use various color-coding plugins to highlight what I need. The integrated terminal for running the code makes it easy for me to show everything on-screen all at once. I can even all the windows in and out.

Pros

VS Code's customization makes tailoring the environment to your tastes and preferences quick and easy. Plugins can be enabled and disabled on-the-fly.

Cons

It can be difficult to set up certain advanced configurations, particularly around multiple shells (linux, powershell, etc) and multiple languages. You need an understanding of JSON notation to do it properly.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

The biggest factor was ease of demonstration in my role as a teacher. However, I kept using it because of the customization and ease of use

### "Visual Studio Code - Lighter is not Lesser"

May 17, 2022

5.0

Visual Studio Code offers a flexible intermediate IDE, bridging simple code-proofing tasks and full-stack development. Ease-of-use, modularity, and very few limitations provided in a lightweight platform makes VSC an essential tool for anything ranging from concept to development. Extensive primary and tertiary support has made VSC our go-to companion for development.

Pros

What Visual Studio Code lacks in specialisation (compared to targeted IDEs), it makes up for in extensive language/platform support, a range of APIs maintained by both Microsoft and third parties, and a simple interface. It falls somewhere between a full IDE and a code editor, giving users a lightweight development platform or a sophisticated companion IDE depending on the use-case.

Cons

Support is outsourced to the community; although it is available, it falls short compared to the support available for paid IDEs.

### "You'll use it for your programing code sooner or later."

April 4, 2022

5.0

I will keep using it because it saves me time in using more than one language at the same time and with one click , unlike other editors specialize only in one programming language.

Pros

I will not overlook the most beautiful feature of Visual Studio, which is that it has all the languages that you will deal with in your life with only one program, that is, you will not tire yourself in installing a special program for each programming language, and this will make it easier for you to time when switching to more than programming language, and you will It deals with one user interface with all programming languages, not the case with other editors. It is also good that it has a powerful feature called it VS Live Share , that you can share your software with your friends or co-workers with the powers to modify the code or read only. Visual Studio Code allows us to colorize each slice, showing the scope of each function or class in the code, this feature is comfortable on the eye, used to make the code easier to read. Despite all this, the program is open source, and anyone can download it, and it works on many systems such as Windows, Linux and mac.

Cons

Sometimes , extensive use of this editor , takes up a lot of CPU space , and this is a bit annoying .

### "The best code editor and IDE around"

August 8, 2021

5.0

Overall this tool is very good for a high-end PC or laptop and have a lot of amazing features that will help in coding and development. There are many themes you can select and set to make the interface attractive. All the files are auto-saved and we even have an in-built debugger and previewer. The intellisense works really well in auto completing the code syntax.

Pros

The installation is straightforward and it's entirely free. We can write codes in any programming languages and can auto format it using various extensions. It has an extension store where we can download all kinds of useful plugins and this is the best feature of this tool. The live server feature helps a lot in previewing the code written on browser. This tool is integrated with GitHub and we can directly push, pull, commit, etc. directly from the in-built terminal.

Cons

The tool size is very big and is a bit slow. All the system processes becomes slow and starts to hang when we use this tool which is a major drawback. The application crashes sometimes when multiple workspaces are opened. The live server along with other extensions and plugins fails to load or loads very late which makes user experience poor. A proper tutorial with documention is required to understand this tool entirely.

### "Almost perfect"

May 28, 2022

5.0

VS Code make our tasks faster and now we don't need to switch between different applications.

Pros

As software development agency, we are always looking for simple, expandable, fast, updated development tools. For some years now we use Visual Studio Code and we love it: low resources (eg. RAM) required, the biggest eco-system of plugins available, frequently updated, all-in-one environment, support for all languages and scripts, and last but not least... "free".

Cons

There are, at this time, only two missing features that we'd like to receive in the next releases: 1. Multiple environment settings, so we can switch from different configurations (eg. selected plugins, editor settings, plugins settings, ...) based on what we're doing. This is because some plugins produce some conflicts and also some settings, so we need to turn on/off a lot of settings/plugins on the base of project we're working on. 2. Sharing preferences and last opened files, because now the software save last preferences and last opened files when you close the app but if you work using different workstation (eg. workstation and notebook), you need to reopen last edited files when you switch between devices.

### "A lightweight yet powerful software repository"

May 4, 2023

5.0

After a simple and fast installation, a useful interface that you are used to welcomes you. Every module, extension, add-on and menu you want and need is ready. There will be no difference in experience between people who use it for the first time or for a few times.

Pros

It is interesting that among its best features is a lightweight version, but on the contrary it has a powerful engine. It supports almost all premium programming languages. And perhaps its most important and interesting feature is that it supports different operating systems (windows, linux) structures. Thanks to the add-on extensions, it offers the opportunity to work simultaneously with all other programs.

Cons

Debug mode may take some time, although it varies according to the code block you write. This process also varies depending on the number of lines written.

Reason for choosing Visual Studio Code

Being a lighter version than other alternatives, speed, performance, support for different operating systems.

### "Intuitive and Great Implementation"

January 25, 2023

5.0

Visual Studio Code has been a great experience for me in the last 4 years of use. The software is constantly updating, with the recent release of the 2022 version which has fantastic auto-script recommendations. I would highly recommend this software to anyone for scripting purposes.

Pros

I like how seamless Visual Studio integrates into our simulation software that uses C# at the core. It feels like Visual Studio isn't an outside application because it works so seamlessly.

Cons

I always feel that the debugging mode could be more descriptive and be more intuitive to understand exactly where your script is causing errors.

My overall experience while using Visual Studio Code was quite amazing. The various customizations and supports multiple plugins and extension which makes it easier to use.

Pros

The best thing about Visual Studio Code is that it provides a lot of extensions and plugins which makes it easier to write code. Its user interface is also quite appealing which makes it engaging.

Cons

Visual Studio Code requires a system with decent or good specs, while using it in systems with low specs it does not works efficiently.

### "The best software for programming"

Before it was not my favorite, but now I use it every day even to take my daily notes, it is without a doubt one of the best software creations of recent times

Pros

It is very complete, they have extensive integrations with different programming languages and it makes it easier for me to create my projects.

Cons

Before it was very heavy to install today it is very easy to install and that helps a lot, what I don't like so much are the constant software updates but this is because of the improvements and that's fine

### "Best Code Editor Out There."

March 17, 2022

5.0

I write code for a living, and writing code has never been a smoother experience until VS Code. I extremely like it's speed and how dynamic it is. The built in git support and terminal means I don't have to switch multiple programs while I code.

Pros

VS Code is extremely fast, comes built in with a suite of features and keyboard shortcuts, and can be easily extended with extensions. It's extensions make it truly remarkable: every problem or need has an extension supporting it. Each person can completely customize the editor to their own needs and it's perfect.

Cons

The only thing I can think of is to be a little smarter when refactoring large code bases. I know this is just a code editor and not an IDE, but I had to refactor our code a few days ago, and it was just impossible with VS Code. I looked all over for an appropriate extension, but couldn't find one that works well rewriting all the imports. In the end, I gave up and did the refactor in WebStorm.

### "As a full stack and ux/ui designer"

January 26, 2023

5.0

My experience with Visual studio code over the course of 3 years aprox has been very good, rarely does it crash and doesnt save, it always works perfectly and fast, allowing me to open and navigate and code in so many different projects simultaneaously.

Pros

I like most of the software how versatile, clean, easy and optimized it is. I can create any kind of project with most programming languages, like react, typescript, python, vanilla, etc. I love how i can have more than one proyect open and using third party softwares like live server i can program and see the changes live.

Cons

I dont feel like there are things i dont like about the software, its very complete and optimized, maybe i would have more interesting addons that can help customize the software.

### "The most versatile & efficient IDE!"

February 14, 2021

5.0

Overall, Visual Studio Code is probably the most important software in my work life and its truly found a place close to my heart. I would highly recommend the platform as I have only positive experiences to share about it!

Pros

Visual Studio is the ultimate development environment for any project, small or large! I personally switched to Visual Studio while exploring options for IDEs as I was stumbling through various alternatives such as Repl.it and Atom that simply didn't meet the standards I searched for. VS Code has everything a developer could ever want, it has a light-weight build, it is fast & reliable, and it has extensive features that isolates it from all its competitors. I personally am a major fan of the LiveShare extension enabling developers to join each others' remote servers and cooperate on code simultaneously.

Cons

Occasionally, the extension titled 'Live Share' utilized to allow developers to cooperate together becomes slow or crashes if a large sum of developers are present on a single developmental server, yet such a consequence is expected. Although I do not have any direct issues with the platform, the only thing that VS Code currently lacks is a designing feature on the application itself. Being capable of designing, programming, and deploy code all from one program would be revolutionary and the perfect addition to this IDE.

### "A powerful and versatile code editor for developers"

August 26, 2023

4.0

My overall experience with VS code is very positive. I think it is a code editor that can meet the needs of different types of developers. It is fast, flexible and extensible. It supports wide range of languages, frameworks and tools. It has helped in code debugging and code collaboration.

Pros

There are many things that I like about VS code but to name some I like the most is the extensions feature. VS code has a huge marketplace of extensions that enhance the functionality and features.I personally use the Live Server extension that loads the pages both statically and dynamically. Also the Git Lens extension helps in GitHub operations.

Cons

There are some things that I don't like about VS code like it is very difficult for beginners to understand the customization features but I still enjoy using VS code and I think it is a versatile code editor.

Rich Extension Marketplace: The VS Code marketplace provides a vast collection of extensions contributed by the community. Users can find extensions for specific programming languages, frameworks, and tools to further enhance their development environment. The availability of a wide range of extensions adds to the versatility and customization options of VS Code.

Cons

Performance with Large Files: While VS Code is generally fast and responsive, it can sometimes struggle with large files or projects with a large number of files. Opening and editing large files may result in slower performance or lag, depending on the system's specifications.

### "Dynamic Source Code Editor"

September 20, 2022

5.0

Getting started with visual studio code wasn't a problem because of the simple user interface. The software is fully customizable with easy to learn features.

Pros

I love this software because it allows many extensions to be installed which makes development dynamic for example, one of the extension I like using most the live server extension for. This saves me time from refreshing browser to see changes made in the code. Even after installing extensions the software still functions under it's full capacity without slowing down.

Cons

I find it quite difficult to setup and work with Git.
