### "Highly recommend TaxDome!"

April 12, 2026

5.0

Overall the experience has been great. The software is great to use but there is a learning curve. One definitely needs to invest time and resources to get it going properly to make the office more efficient.

Pros

I really like that it automizes a lot of our tasks and communication with our clients. It has made our office much more efficient. I also like that we can charge the client within by connecting our Stripe account.

Cons

I do not like the fact that digital boards have not been working since we started using about a year and a half ago. We have continuously been reaching to the TaxDome team about the issue. They keep telling us that the issue will be worked on. However, it still has not been fixed. It would be amazing if they functioned correctly.

### "Spend a dollar, save a bundle!"

January 3, 2026

5.0

Once the initial setup is complete, the value becomes very clear—and it extends far beyond cost savings. The true return is the time you regain after implementation. Building a more self-running firm creates the capacity needed to manage ongoing tax law changes and help clients adapt efficiently. That recovered time can then be reinvested into expanding service offerings, deepening client relationships, and developing higher-value services such as advisory and tax planning—ultimately moving the firm forward rather than just keeping up.

Pros

offers strong customer support and significantly improves productivity, making it a leading tax practice management platform. Many tax practices lack formal standard operating procedures (SOPs) unless they perform audits or are required to follow Quality Management standards. TaxDome helps fill that gap by encouraging standardized workflows, which in turn increases efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the firm.

Cons

There is a significant learning curve and implementation hurdle. Many practices are looking for a simple, quick setup and are discouraged by the upfront time and effort required to implement new systems. Pre-built, in-house packages—such as accounting software with standardized chart-of-accounts templates—would be highly attractive and could significantly reduce onboarding friction. Group-based training offerings would also be a strong value driver, helping firms adopt the software more efficiently while building confidence and consistency across teams.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing TaxDome

We ultimately chose over Canopy because of its higher level of customization and its clear reinvestment of profits into ongoing product development. That reinvestment translated into greater flexibility, stronger workflow control, and a platform better aligned with how modern firms actually operate.

As it became clear that Thomson Reuters was no longer heavily investing in advancing its legacy platform, we recognized the need to evaluate alternative solutions. We conducted demonstrations across several software packages, and after careful comparison, this platform stood out as head and shoulders above the others in terms of functionality, workflow efficiency, and long-term scalability.

### "Great for project management and client portals, needs work with billing."

March 11, 2026

3.0

I've been very frustrated with the "New Features" that are listed as coming out on a certain date. Then that date comes and goes and it's STILL not available. For months and months past when it was originally stated to come out. The overall experience is good, but don't promise things that you can't deliver is my overall message.

Pros

I like the project management part of the software. Also, the automated features saves a lot of time. For example, auto emailing clients for status updates and being able to bulk email a bunch of clients at once.

Cons

The billing part of the software is extremely frustrating. I've been very frustrated with the "New Features" that are listed as coming out on a certain date. Then that date comes and goes and it's STILL not available. For months and months past when it was originally stated to come out. I need to be able to delete a payment from an invoice if the client's payment fails, but this is not an option. Also, the lack of being able to apply a partial payment in many cases is just ridiculous.

### "TaxDome is a great program"

April 28, 2026

5.0

Overall, our firm is pleased with the program. It has been user-friendly for both employees and clients, and we appreciate the customizable features and the customer service.

Pros

We appreciate the overall wide range of customizable features in the program. The specific components of the program that are used most by our firm, workflow/pipelines and time/billing have become easy to navigate and we are always finding new ways to customize our experience to best serve our clients. Clients express that the client portal is user-friendly. The site builder feature was also very helpful.

Cons

We wish our onboarding program was a little more in-depth. I also wish there was a way to combine accounts (not just contacts) when a duplicate account is made.

### "Great Software"

April 7, 2026

4.0

We’ve had a very positive experience with . Overall, it has made our tax season run much more smoothly and has helped streamline our workflow, client communication, and document management. The setup process is definitely time-consuming and can feel a bit overwhelming at first. However, the TaxDome support team was consistently friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the process, which made a big difference. Once everything was up and running, the system became a great asset to our firm. I would absolutely recommend TaxDome to other firms—just be sure to give yourself plenty of time to set it up properly and learn the platform before your busy season begins.

Pros

Streamlines tax season and makes the overall workflow smoother, Improves organization of documents and client information, client and staff communication through one centralized platform, helps keep processes consistent and efficient, Strong support team, helps keep the firm more organized during busy season

Cons

April 7, 2026

I like very much, I use to to follow up with our hundreds of T1 clients, and all the status are clear, no need to check with clients back and forth

Pros

it's all-in-one management platform is very helpful. You can do anything in client's account, and check any updates from there

Cons

When you set up a job, you can not make it show on the job list on a scheduled date, it has to be shown at once and makes a little confusion for the job list

### "Good - Would recommend as an option"

April 7, 2026

Its a decent product. I use it on a weekly basis with the rest of my team all throughout the year. For bookkeeping clients as well as tax only clients.

Pros

I like that everything is all together and you can assign tasks to different people. Not a lot to say

Cons

The extra login code required. That its not necessarily easy to go from one screen to another and that I don't always get emails when clients respond.

### "Lots of features baked into one product"

May 11, 2026

5.0

It helps make things simple for both me and the client. I spent quite a bit of time the first month figuring out how I was going to use it, but since it has been easy peasy.

Pros

I don't use all the features - I don't have a team - but what I get benefit from is the secure chat feature, billing and payment collection, the document storage, and using the virtual drive. When I have needed support I've gotten the help I needed.

Cons

Since I don't do a lot of volume the price is on the high side, but nothing else out there has the features I want without paying a lot more. For a volume firm I think the price is very reasonable.

### "Great, but slow to start - been building our process for over a year and still not finished."

January 13, 2026

4.0

Overall good , but we are not yet able to take full advantage of it because they initial setup requires a lot of time and attention and we are a very busy office.

Pros

Polished site we can direct clients to sign up for is nice to have. The integration with windows and rightworks is a must. Could not use without it!

Cons

I wish editing client data was doable in table form after the initial upload. If we could get a nice dense view of client statuses and we can change data from that view, this would finally replace the shared spreadsheet we use to track client status. User side would be great if more focused on data than dashboard appearance. I don't think we've ever used a "dashboard" for anything productive.

### "TaxDome is the bomb. "

November 18, 2025

5.0

Excellent overall experience. We were able to go live with in about 6 weeks. There is a large amount of setup required and a significant learning curve. However, each time something new is learned it results in immediate savings of time and improved user experience. Users are rewarded by the program when an effort is made to learn the system, which encourages further learning. Staff satisfaction with TaxDome is high.

Pros

Return on Investment for began almost immediately. Savings in time and increased client satisfaction were experienced quickly. Customer support and initial training was/is outstanding. The integrated time, billing and payment features were a large improvement over our previous system (Practice CS). TaxDome appears to be geared towards smaller practices and this is much appreciated.

Cons

No data import from previous systems. This resulted in significant additional migration costs. The report designer is cryptic and dififcult to understand.

### "New TaxDome User, it’s made it easy!"

February 16, 2026

5.0

My experience has been positive, but I haven’t had to get with support or have any issues. My firm is small so not a ton opportunities for software failure.

Pros

is pretty user friendly considering how much it offers. I needed time tracking and it makes it very easy to bill that way. Once everything was customized for how I ran my firm, it’s a snap to do anything. Receiving payments is also really easy for the client. I especially appreciated the engagement letter templates and the organizers. Organizers are a bear to create from scratch, these are easy to modify and the client can fill them out easily. They can even upload documents right into the organizer so the don’t forget to upload later. The price is worth it, in my opinion. They usually have specials on the fall to get it going before tax season ramps up. I have not had to call support yet, everything worked pretty well.

Cons

There is still a decent fee for receiving payments through payments. I also wish there were more templates that didn’t cost a lot.

### "Must-Have for small firms who think they can't take on anymore clients - YOU CAN NOW!"

October 23, 2025

5.0

EXCELLENT. Wish we would have found this program sooner, it definitely helped decrease the overall general stress of tax season, decreased the amount of back and forth phone calls chasing information, can just send a client request in ! AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY FILLED OUT THE ORGANIZERS! That was the most shocking thing LOL It's just me and my boss here, and we were able to accept new clients this year, because of how much extra time TaxDome freed up, with more people uploading than face to face appointments, which gave us more time to work on returns, because we weren't in face to face appointments! We'll be able to accept new clients this year too, now that we have TaxDome down a little better

Pros

Combines all the different software subscriptions we were using into one place. Eliminated the need for creating self-made cross-referencing excel sheets to track drop offs, communications, notes on what was missing, payments, chasing payments, etc. Everything necessary from start to finish is inside ONE program!

Cons

Very overwhelming at first, with all of the things it can do, and options for customization of just about everything. Didn't know where to begin. Even with all the help available, I didn't know what I needed help with yet, so didn't know where to begin in there, either. Just poked around on my own, and then once I figured out what I couldn't figure out on my own, trial and error and in testing automations, then it was easier to navigate the help section when I hit a block. Learning curve is a little high, even with help topics, but it's certainly worth the time and effort. It took me and the boss a couple weeks to get everything initially set up - all the client accounts & corresponding contacts, personalize the engagement letters, emails, chats, automations, statuses, etc all the things specific to our firm, but once that's all done, it's done, and you're off to the races, only having to tweak minor things from there.

All the things were in one place, and client could log into one place to do all the things, instead of sharefile to upload, docusign to sign and retrieve copy, and go to website to make the invoice payment. We don't have to make cross-referencing spreadsheets on our end, to track the progress of each client's return, and what's missing and when did we last talk to them, etc.

### "Rough to set up/Great automations once you do set it all up. "

March 6, 2026

3.0

It's been rough. Hopefully that is behind us. Still trying to work on some things but it isn't terrible once you get through the set up. It has Ease of use marked in green, but that is not the case.

Pros

I like that you can pull IRS tax transcripts straight from there. And once you do get all the way of setting it up, the automations are great if they do what you need them to do.

Cons

That I had to set up the entire software, it's lengthy process and takes forever. You literally have to set everything up, you can't just get to work. Plan to have several months/Pay extra for lessons, and extra for one-on-one time, of set up before you can actually use.

### "Good product - Service Sucks "

August 29, 2025

I am increadibily mixed. I can't recommend it. Their support started reasonable. Now they are more concerned about finding every way to make a dollar. it is very difficult to get a live person, which wastes a lot of my time. I would say think long and hard.

Pros

The ability to create customized organizers. have clients complete the on line and sign the tax return on line.

Cons

In 31 years in the tax industry it is the only program I have ever uesd you can't pick up the phone and call. It takes them hours regularily to respond to technical support requests. This product has put me in the technical support business, which i absolutely hate about them. They are starting to resemble comcast. They charge a premium fee and their support sucks.

### "You'll regret it"

July 4, 2025

2.0

Really frustrating. It's obvious that this was not created with real tax preparers being consulted. Conversion process is a nightmare. I've gone through 2 already and I wouldn't do it again if you paid me.

Pros

That I can track time and invoice immediately off it that. That I can store documents straight from tax software. That accounts and contacts are separated.

Cons

1\. I can't combine 2 locations to work. 2. During conversion there is no AR that can be transferred. 3. I can mass print anything.4. I can't enter item charges before creating an invoice, I have to enter 1 hr time entries. 5. Invoices show no client address for mailings. 6.Recurring invoices throw off sequential invoice numbers. 7. will only allow 1 bank account to be set up for incoming payments. How does that help multiple locations? 8. When charges are rejected for NSF they still show as paid in TaxDome.

I have looked at other options before and never found the right tech stack to manage all the features this program offers, especially all in one package. I love the concept and features they offer. It really is a one stop shop for your accounting firm's needs

Pros

This has been an amazing secure portal for me to use to manage my practice. They offer all the features I need to request signatures, store documents by year and project, communicate securely via internal chat, workflows, branded portal, and more. I can't wait to learn more about every feature.

Cons

### "TaxDome is the Tax software you want to use"

October 23, 2025

5.0

I think has been a blessing to our firm and workflow, especially when it came to tax season. The organization and flow of everything made things much more efficient saving in lots of time, organization, and headaches.

Pros

is much more simple and efficient compared to some other softwares our firm has previously used. The learning curve was easy and didn't take much time to grasp a hold of, for that I am very well pleased with it. They have also been making useful updates which only makes it better.

Cons

### "Excellent Software Tool for My Practice"

February 25, 2026

5.0

Excellent. I love how continues to add features. I barley scratched the surface of all it can do. I feel I don't have the time right now to really dive into certain things (workflow/jobs for example), but I will this summer. It'll will be good to get a better understanding as my practice grows.

Pros

Super clean and easy to use. Clients really enjoy it as well. I love having everything I need in one spot. I highly recommend this product to anyone with an accounting/tax practice.

Cons

I like it all and have no real complaints. One thing I would like to see updated is the invoice piece within the proposal/engagement letter module. When a client accepts the proposal, it automatically invoices them with "today's" due date. I know there is an option to choose a different date, but that's not really helpful either. Here's why- I would like an option to be able to invoice the client after I perform the work (date is unknown at the time of agreement), instead of at the time of agreement. Say you sign a tax client in October, and you want to send the proposal to get the EL signed and price agreed upon, however, you don't want to invoice at that time. The client might not like the idea that they have this open invoice that says it's due now, when you don't need them to pay until months later. My previous agreement/payment software I used, Anchor, had this option- The client had to enter payment information in order to accept the agreement, but the firm (me) had the ability to invoice and charge their card when we wanted (when the work was completed for example)

We have had this for year and continue to use. The constant upgrades make the experience more beneficial to all.

Cons

### "Efficiency and Value in One Platform"

August 21, 2025

5.0

It has definitely been a game changer for our firm’s operations. Having automated processes, guided procedures, and different integrations—such as team chat, client communication channels, and automated payment and billing integrated into the client portal, where clients can choose the payment option that best suits them and process the payment themselves—has brought a lot of efficiency to our daily workflow. Tax management has also become much more efficient, both for us and for our clients. Today, our team is more focused on providing personalized service and supporting our clients’ growth, rather than spending time on small tasks that are now automated. The value we get from the platform is truly worth every penny.

Pros

Having everything in one place. The pipeline helps our team follow standard procedures, ensuring that the quality of work is always consistent, regardless of who is performing the task. It also makes training and execution much easier, since we can add training links directly into tasks and jobs.

Cons

At the moment, I can’t really say there’s anything I dislike. is constantly evolving, and their team quickly addresses any negative points by actively listening to user feedback. That said, if I had to mention one thing, I would love to see WhatsApp integrated into the platform, the same way email and SMS are.

### "Do recommend, but..."

October 30, 2025

4.0

Good enough to recommend your products to other people, but with a small heads up about some of the idiosyncratic smaller things.

Pros

The layout is pretty intuitive. While compartmentalized a bit, it takes only a little understanding of how things are laid out to get going on what needs to be done.

Cons

My only issues with are with certain small things that end up having an impact. For instance, when I reply to a client through an email, another person's signature block is automatically put in, even if I was a CC'd person in the email. I also have had to sync my email multiple times (it has happened a few times in one year, but I usually have to re-sync it about 20 times for every iteration. My last example is that when I am uploading a POA, I have to upload it to the "Tax Return" Documents folder, to allow them the opportunity to sign it, which is strange because many people would consider that to have been mis-filed.

### "TaxDome for Sole Prop"

February 6, 2026

4.0

Overall has been great. I do look forward to the ability to pass thru credit card fees to clients. I also look forward to additional features as they seem to be regularly adding helpful features.

Pros

does document storage right. They also make tracking projects easy and sending invoices. I enjoy how easy it is to set up a new client too. I also appreciate the KBA signatures ability.

Cons

’s pdf editor doesn’t compare to Adobe. It’s good - but not good enough for basic tax preparation needs. I initially purchased the plan with hopes I could avoid an AdobePDF subscription, but ended up needing Adobe.

### "Streamlined Tax Workflow in One Platform"

December 22, 2025

5.0

Overall, my experience with was very positive. It provided a centralized platform that significantly improved organization, communication, and workflow efficiency. While there was a learning curve initially, once everything was set up, it helped streamline daily tasks, reduce manual work, and keep client projects on track. It was especially valuable during high-volume periods and supported a more structured and professional workflow.

Pros

What I liked most about was how organized and streamlined it made everything. Having client communication, document management, task tracking, and workflow automation all in one place saved a lot of time and reduced errors. It made collaboration easier and helped ensure nothing slipped through the cracks, especially during busy periods.

Cons

What I liked least about was that it has a bit of a learning curve at first. Some features aren’t immediately intuitive, and setting up workflows and automations can take time. It’s very powerful, but it requires an upfront investment in training to get the most out of it.
