Cons Proposal aspect is clunky and needs some work before this can truly be an all in one software. I can also obtain new clients no matter where they live. I use it for bookkeeping and tax clients. The secure client portal is very important for gathering client documents into one location. Clients love the app with its built-in scanner and overall ease of use. Pros I like that you can scale how much you can use the software. You can use some of the features and then increase/decrease which features you use. Cons The workflows can be challenging to set up. Owner Accounting Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Thoughts of a first year part-time solo tax firm owner..." February 19, 2025 4.0 Overall, TaxDome is great! I would not be able to run my virtual solo tax firm without it! I am excited to explore more of the features they offer after tax season is over and prepare my virtual firm for next year :) Pros TaxDome offers a wide variety of options for accountants. With pipelines already created for users just to start right away, or letting you build them from scratch, I feel like TaxDome gives accountants the freedom to take their time setting up their virtual firm, or jump right into busy season! That is what I did as a solo, first-year tax firm runner. I jumped right in with their premade pipelines, giving me a good "order of operations" right out the gate. Additionally, their mobile app has been very helpful and easy to navigate for my clients. Cons The grammatical accuracy in the pipelines offered by TaxDome have some inconsistencies. There is a little bit of a learning curve to onboarding, but once set up, it works extremely well and has been so helpful for my solo tax firm. Also, the firm owner's app sometimes freezes when I go to view documents uploaded by clients. I assume that is a bug they are working on and fixing as from my perspective they have communicated that they are working hard to add additional features to the app for firm owners. As per above, we felt a bit bait and switched, and one of our concerns on forcing payment through Tax Dome was communicated as changing in TD by Tax Season and never did. Cons We felt misled to sign up under one rate plan and package offering to have it change within 2 months. Some features that we were advised were coming for Tax Season have yet to arrive. Pros The idea of Tax Dome is great. Do one thing and set in motion all the other things that need to be done. Great concept. Cons Way too complex. Not at all easy to use or to figure out. Need to stream line the process. Not all clients are the same. The organizer is great for a new client but terrible for long term clients.
