### "Best Software for Accounting Firms "

March 9, 2026

5.0

TaxDome has been an amazing tool for our firm. It has helped me stay far more organized with client communication, document management, task tracking, and workflow automation. Everything being in one centralized platform makes it much easier to manage deadlines and keep projects moving during busy tax season. The client portal is also a huge benefit. Clients can securely upload documents, sign engagement letters, and communicate with us all in one place. It has made our processes much smoother and more professional. If you run a tax or accounting firm and want to streamline operations, improve organization, and create a better client experience, I would highly recommend TaxDome.

Pros

love the app and portal login for cleints! still need to learn alot more honestly i still use spread sheets for some of the things but overall super helpful

Cons

Amazing software overall and it has helped me stay far more organized with my clients, documents, and workflows. Having everything in one place has been a big improvement for our tax firm. There are a few areas where improvements could make the platform even better: Invoicing can be a little frustrating. It would be helpful if invoice templates were easier to reuse. I did an invoice and it didnt show up for me or the cleint tried it liek 5 times Recurring invoices could also use better tracking. For example, when a client signs an engagement letter and sets up recurring billing, it doesn’t clearly show on the client’s account. This makes it harder to quickly track which clients have recurring payments set up. Customer support is another area that could be improved. Having free or more accessible support would be extremely helpful for firms learning the software. A great example is Gusto’s customer service — their support is incredible and something worth looking at as a benchmark. Lastly, lead tracking could be more streamlined. It would be really helpful if contacts could be used directly in a sales pipeline without needing to create both an account and a contact. Simplifying that process would make managing leads much easier. Overall, TaxDome is a powerful platform and has been very helpful for running our firm. With a few improvements in these areas, it could be even better.

### "TaxDome Functionality "

March 3, 2026

4.0

I’ve always had nothing but great things to say about TaxDome. They are everything you need to be successful in the tax prep/accounting industry. The templates are formatted for exactly what is needed and it saves so much time.

Pros

TaxDome is truly an all-in-one practice management suite. The automations save so much time, the communication features allow for a seamless interaction with clients, the integrated website is invaluable! Time tracking, billing, workflow automation, payment processing, scheduling, I mean it’s all there. They continue to make improvements and it’s amazing. The customer service is unmatched they are always available and willing to help. The entire tax management process is seamless it allows for step-by-step support. The organizers are easily reviewed and edited, the pipelines when set up properly allow the workflow to go over easy, and the tax return delivery amongst the abilities to tick mark and never into a single PDF are just game changers. The price has gone up but it still saves a tons of money!

Cons

It is a bit difficult to get acclimated to. You’ll have to take some time to get the automations set up properly and to create a process that flows. Once you do that it’s great. The website builder feature it a bit limited from others but it still creates a beautiful, manageable site.

### "Spend a dollar, save a bundle!"

January 3, 2026

5.0

Once the initial setup is complete, the value becomes very clear—and it extends far beyond cost savings. The true return is the time you regain after implementation. Building a more self-running firm creates the capacity needed to manage ongoing tax law changes and help clients adapt efficiently. That recovered time can then be reinvested into expanding service offerings, deepening client relationships, and developing higher-value services such as advisory and tax planning—ultimately moving the firm forward rather than just keeping up.

Pros

TaxDome offers strong customer support and significantly improves productivity, making it a leading tax practice management platform. Many tax practices lack formal standard operating procedures (SOPs) unless they perform audits or are required to follow Quality Management standards. TaxDome helps fill that gap by encouraging standardized workflows, which in turn increases efficiency, consistency, and scalability across the firm.

Cons

There is a significant learning curve and implementation hurdle. Many practices are looking for a simple, quick setup and are discouraged by the upfront time and effort required to implement new systems. Pre-built, in-house packages—such as accounting software with standardized chart-of-accounts templates—would be highly attractive and could significantly reduce onboarding friction. Group-based training offerings would also be a strong value driver, helping firms adopt the software more efficiently while building confidence and consistency across teams.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing TaxDome

We ultimately chose TaxDome over Canopy because of its higher level of customization and its clear reinvestment of profits into ongoing product development. That reinvestment translated into greater flexibility, stronger workflow control, and a platform better aligned with how modern firms actually operate.

As it became clear that Thomson Reuters was no longer heavily investing in advancing its legacy platform, we recognized the need to evaluate alternative solutions. We conducted demonstrations across several software packages, and after careful comparison, this platform stood out as head and shoulders above the others in terms of functionality, workflow efficiency, and long-term scalability.

### "Efficient, Organized, and Great for Growing Firms"

December 19, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with TaxDome has been very positive. It’s a powerful, all-in-one platform that keeps our firm organized and running efficiently. Once everything is set up, workflows are smooth, communication is clear, and tasks are easy to track. The client portal improves collaboration and professionalism, and having documents, billing, and messaging in one place saves a lot of time. While there is a small learning curve at the beginning, the long-term benefits far outweigh it, making TaxDome a valuable tool for managing and growing a practice.

Pros

What I liked most about TaxDome is how it brings everything into one clean, easy-to-use platform. Having client communication, document management, workflows, billing, and task tracking all in one place saves a huge amount of time and keeps our work organized. The client portal is especially strong—it’s simple for clients to use and makes sharing documents and messages secure and efficient. Overall, TaxDome helps streamline processes, reduce back-and-forth, and makes managing a growing practice much more manageable.

Cons

One con of TaxDome is that the learning curve can feel a bit steep at first—especially for teams switching from multiple separate tools or less structured systems. Some features take a little time to fully understand and set up, but once you get past that initial adjustment, the platform becomes much easier and more intuitive to use.

### "Great for project management and client portals, needs work with billing."

March 11, 2026

3.0

I've been very frustrated with the "New Features" that are listed as coming out on a certain date. Then that date comes and goes and it's STILL not available. For months and months past when it was originally stated to come out. The overall experience is good, but don't promise things that you can't deliver is my overall message.

Pros

I like the project management part of the software. Also, the automated features saves a lot of time. For example, auto emailing clients for status updates and being able to bulk email a bunch of clients at once.

Cons

The billing part of the software is extremely frustrating. I've been very frustrated with the "New Features" that are listed as coming out on a certain date. Then that date comes and goes and it's STILL not available. For months and months past when it was originally stated to come out. I need to be able to delete a payment from an invoice if the client's payment fails, but this is not an option. Also, the lack of being able to apply a partial payment in many cases is just ridiculous.

### "TaxDome was our best move!"

December 31, 2025

5.0

I love it, definitely the best decision and i cant wait to see how much the system upgrades in the new year! Its very nice that we are able to increase our service level without having to add or change systems!

Pros

TaxDome has really helped streamline all of our processes! It is so much easier to communicate with clients and if a team member is out sick we arent missing their notifications. The tasks for all of the clients helps them know what we are waiting on from them. I also love how much the system is constantly upgrading and adding in new features! The customer support team is great, they resolve issues quickly and listen to comments!

Cons

I dont like how the proposals cant have a draft form and you cant really duplicate it for the next year. I also have issues with the reporting for invoices, its just really hard to see what the incoming recurring revenue is and also the value of the proposals prior to them being signed.

Overall, my experience with TaxDome has been very positive. The platform is robust and continually improving. I’ve been especially impressed by how receptive they are to feedback and how quickly they roll out updates that make a real impact. It’s clear they’re invested in helping firms like ours succeed.

Pros

TaxDome genuinely listens to its users. The platform continues to evolve with thoughtful, practical features that directly address the needs of tax professionals. Their responsiveness and commitment to improving the user experience really stand out. It feels like they’re building the tool with us, not just for us.

Cons

There’s definitely a learning curve, especially when setting up pipelines, organizers, and automations. While the platform is powerful, I would have preferred more ready-to-use templates for common use cases

### "TaxDome was a total disappointment for our firm"

November 26, 2025

2.0

The demo was impressive, and we decided to sign up with them. We paid the $2,000 onboard fee plus the $7,000 first year subscription for our 7 team members, for a total of $9,000. They DO NOT REFUND. This was a total loss for our team. I would demand a trial before paying them anything. It started with us needing to provide a client csv database for the initial upload. We were provided a csv template to match. 10 hours in to the csv file formatting, we questioned them, and were told to watch the training videos. The videos are conflicting, and incongruent with the template provided. For example, the template says to use "Jones family," while the video will say not use "Jones family" because you might have more than 1 Jones family. One video says you can make separate columns for the spouse, while another will say something different. I asked for a congruent template and instruction videos, and the request was met with silence. As a former manufacturing and process engineer, this was awful and a giant RED FLAG. When we questioned them again, we were told it was a "big misunderstanding," and that the TaxDome team would format the file and upload it for us. I believe they did ultimately format the file, but at that point we had lost confidence in their platform. During the demo, we were told that Tax Dome would upload several years of client documents for us. After paying the fee, we were told that we would have to do this for ourselves. This was another one of those "misunderstandings," apparently. This was not a deal-breaker, because we could just archive the documents on our server and delete documents from old years over time. In total, we worked with them around 6 weeks. The onboarding sessions are 1 hour, once per week. It's unbelievably slow and frustrating to try and onboard at this pace. Taking 3 months to onboard is not really practical. In fairness, we were informed of this at the onset. We made some assumptions that we should not have made. They do not disclose these things up front. For example: They have the ability to send the client a document collection checklist. You would assume this can be done in bulk. This is not the case. You must generate and send the checklist to each client one at a time. You have to add user permissions to each client account one at a time. You would assume that the default would be for all users to have access to all client accounts, then you would limit access to any accounts that are sensitive. This is not the case. This means, in theory, you would have to add each seasonal user to each client file each new year.....unbelievable. The Juno integration does appear to work, but there are far easier (less clunky) platforms out there. We did not make it far enough to actually use this feature. We believe the TaxDome platform works, but it is not ready for consumer use. It is really a beta version software. Even if we had successfully onboarded, the learning curve for the staff, and even the seasonal staff, would have been very steep and costly.

Pros

The Demo, client phone app, workflow and practice management all in one platform. Price relative to competitors.

Cons

It is a beta version software, and we ultimately had to abandon the onboarding for multiple reasons.

### "Is TaxDome Worth It for Small Firms? My Take"

January 27, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with TaxDome has been very positive. It’s a true all-in-one platform that brings client communication, documents, workflows, billing, and payments into one place, which makes running a small, virtual firm much more efficient. There is an upfront learning curve during setup, but once workflows are configured, the day-to-day operations run noticeably smoother. It’s a solid long-term solution for practitioners who want to streamline their tech stack and deliver a more professional client experience.

Pros

Solid value when you consider it replaces multiple tools (portal, CRM, e-sign, workflows, billing) Responsive customer support and helpful onboarding Centralized tax workflows that bring structure and visibility—especially during tax season Built-in invoicing and payments that reduce follow-ups Client-friendly portal that improves communication and compliance

Cons

It does not offer recurring charges to client account like Ignition does. Bookkeeping Module is not ready to replace other bookkeeping CRMs.

### "Best practice management software!"

November 18, 2025

5.0

Easy to use and implement with clients and staff. With things continuing to improve, every time I think of a way for it to be better it comes out as a new feature; like they read my mind.

Pros

TaxDome has saved my firm so much time. I went from a team of three other people back to just me and the season went smoother than ever before. It is saving me multiple different platform fees and ensures everything is in one place and streamlined. Its the best practice management software I have tried to manage my tax practice. After 4 other platforms I found a home with TaxDome. Their support is unparallel and their commitment to continual improvement is one of the best features! They are constantly improving during the year so you get maximum savings. They made billing and taking payments so simple and more than 2 thirds of my clients were able to easily use the software, higher than any other platform. I have 100% adoption of the portal which was also a first. Taxdome is a great everything software and they are just getting started!

Cons

Nothing it is a great software. I do wish more of the bulk action items were available on more screens than just the client screen.

### "TaxDome is the bomb. "

November 18, 2025

5.0

Excellent overall experience. We were able to go live with TaxDome in about 6 weeks. There is a large amount of setup required and a significant learning curve. However, each time something new is learned it results in immediate savings of time and improved user experience. Users are rewarded by the program when an effort is made to learn the system, which encourages further learning. Staff satisfaction with TaxDome is high.

Pros

Return on Investment for TaxDome began almost immediately. Savings in time and increased client satisfaction were experienced quickly. Customer support and initial training was/is outstanding. The integrated time, billing and payment features were a large improvement over our previous system (Practice CS). TaxDome appears to be geared towards smaller practices and this is much appreciated.

Cons

No data import from previous systems. This resulted in significant additional migration costs. The report designer is cryptic and dififcult to understand.

Taxdome has been very great at keeping us on track for completing client tasks in a timely manner and making sure no deadlines are missed. The client side of things is also very good and makes it easy for our clients to get in touch or provide us with missing info. It’s also great that clients are able to make payments through the portal and easily send a chat or a text with all of their questions. The team at TaxDome is constantly adding and making things better. Definitely recommend using TaxDome as a client database!

### "Must-Have for small firms who think they can't take on anymore clients - YOU CAN NOW!"

October 23, 2025

5.0

EXCELLENT. Wish we would have found this program sooner, it definitely helped decrease the overall general stress of tax season, decreased the amount of back and forth phone calls chasing information, can just send a client request in taxdome! AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY FILLED OUT THE ORGANIZERS! That was the most shocking thing LOL It's just me and my boss here, and we were able to accept new clients this year, because of how much extra time TaxDome freed up, with more people uploading than face to face appointments, which gave us more time to work on returns, because we weren't in face to face appointments! We'll be able to accept new clients this year too, now that we have TaxDome down a little better

Pros

Combines all the different software subscriptions we were using into one place. Eliminated the need for creating self-made cross-referencing excel sheets to track drop offs, communications, notes on what was missing, payments, chasing payments, etc. Everything necessary from start to finish is inside ONE program!

Cons

Very overwhelming at first, with all of the things it can do, and options for customization of just about everything. Didn't know where to begin. Even with all the help available, I didn't know what I needed help with yet, so didn't know where to begin in there, either. Just poked around on my own, and then once I figured out what I couldn't figure out on my own, trial and error and in testing automations, then it was easier to navigate the help section when I hit a block. Learning curve is a little high, even with help topics, but it's certainly worth the time and effort. It took me and the boss a couple weeks to get everything initially set up - all the client accounts & corresponding contacts, personalize the engagement letters, emails, chats, automations, statuses, etc all the things specific to our firm, but once that's all done, it's done, and you're off to the races, only having to tweak minor things from there.

All the things were in one place, and client could log into one place to do all the things, instead of sharefile to upload, docusign to sign and retrieve copy, and go to website to make the invoice payment. We don't have to make cross-referencing spreadsheets on our end, to track the progress of each client's return, and what's missing and when did we last talk to them, etc.

Overall I think TaxDome's value for the cost is worth it everytime. It gives you everything you need on day to day tasks.

Pros

TaxDome is such a time saver with everything you need in one place when it comes to document storage, signatures, invoicing, and client communications. On top of that, anything I don't know how to use yet in order to make the back end of work as efficient as possible the AI chat or real customer support can answer anything I need! From a clients perspective, I have had nothing but good feedback on how easy everything is on their end, which was always an issue before.

### "New TaxDome User, it’s made it easy!"

February 16, 2026

5.0

My experience has been positive, but I haven’t had to get with support or have any issues. My firm is small so not a ton opportunities for software failure.

Pros

TaxDome is pretty user friendly considering how much it offers. I needed time tracking and it makes it very easy to bill that way. Once everything was customized for how I ran my firm, it’s a snap to do anything. Receiving payments is also really easy for the client. I especially appreciated the engagement letter templates and the organizers. Organizers are a bear to create from scratch, these are easy to modify and the client can fill them out easily. They can even upload documents right into the organizer so the don’t forget to upload later. The price is worth it, in my opinion. They usually have specials on the fall to get it going before tax season ramps up. I have not had to call support yet, everything worked pretty well.

Cons

There is still a decent fee for receiving payments through TaxDome payments. I also wish there were more templates that didn’t cost a lot.

### "One platform to solve multiple problems - yes please!"

September 26, 2025

5.0

To be honest, we thought it sounded too good to be true - like it had to fail at somethings we just hadn't "broken it yet". Well we are now close to 9 months in and we can't imagine running our practice without it.

Pros

I spent far too long using several separate platforms for various parts of our business. Now Tax Dome combines electronic signature, proposals, checklists, client portals, automations, client chat feature - so it streamlines our workflows and has all these things in the one place. Clients are loving it too which is an added bonus.

Cons

It was a beast to setup automation pipelines, but once done WHOA game changer. Invest in their support. Their support to implement pipelines and explain how they work and how we should set them up was worth the time and effort.

### "More Positive-Leaning"

December 22, 2025

4.0

Overall, my experience is pretty good. Our rep is very responsive and willing to help. If she doesn't know the answer, she pulls in other colleagues to assist.

Pros

TaxDome offers a fairly wide range of customization options, but it’s missing some of the smaller, detail-level customizations. For example, it would be very helpful to have short codes for account-level fields like client name and address, which are currently not available or are skipped.

Cons

The reporting features are complex and make it difficult to obtain the results we’re looking for. As general users, it’s not always clear what the field names are called. Fortunately, my background in computer science and databases helps me navigate some of these challenges.

Reason for choosing TaxDome

We loved your roadmap, so we knew you were working on changes and improvements. We appreciated access to the community before we bought and could see that there was progress towards clients wants.

### "Rough to set up/Great automations once you do set it all up. "

March 6, 2026

3.0

It's been rough. Hopefully that is behind us. Still trying to work on some things but it isn't terrible once you get through the set up. It has Ease of use marked in green, but that is not the case.

Pros

I like that you can pull IRS tax transcripts straight from there. And once you do get all the way of setting it up, the automations are great if they do what you need them to do.

Cons

That I had to set up the entire software, it's lengthy process and takes forever. You literally have to set everything up, you can't just get to work. Plan to have several months/Pay extra for lessons, and extra for one-on-one time, of set up before you can actually use.

### "Good product - Service Sucks "

August 29, 2025

3.0

I am increadibily mixed. I can't recommend it. Their support started reasonable. Now they are more concerned about finding every way to make a dollar. it is very difficult to get a live person, which wastes a lot of my time. I would say think long and hard.

Pros

The ability to create customized organizers. have clients complete the on line and sign the tax return on line.

Cons

In 31 years in the tax industry it is the only program I have ever uesd you can't pick up the phone and call. It takes them hours regularily to respond to technical support requests. This product has put me in the technical support business, which i absolutely hate about them. They are starting to resemble comcast. They charge a premium fee and their support sucks.

I thought the organizer and electronic signing of tax returns performed better.

Did not feel the PDF's were serving my clients. I am very mixed if it was a good move to change.

### "Upgrades to automations would be nice"

September 2, 2025

4.0

It's been ok. There's a large learning curve and I've invested in a paid course to help me which has been a game changer - prolly would not have never figure out TD without that course.

Pros

I like that my clients like it. They say it's easy to use and they like that it's its own portal and they can see their documents. I like that it is secure.

Cons

The automations are limited. I would like to Schedule Send Chats to clients, or the ability to Schedule when the auto-chats go out (like not at 12:01am on a holiday like they did yesterday). I also do not like the workflow I currently have and there are lots of other CRM softwares for bookkeeping that integrate the client questions with the CRM for ease of use. I recently saw a competitors portal and it looks like their own companies, and the TD mobile app isn't customizable like that.

### "Review from a Director of Process Development & Training"

April 7, 2026

5.0

I am a retired insurance claims adjuster who has worked in and with several types of organize and tracking systems. I have never put one together before. Working with the people in our firm to document the process of working tax returns and working with TD support team has really been the most enjoyable part of my job. Now I feel very confident to create what we need. I still reach out to support when a new situation comes up that I need help with and they continue to go over the top to help.

Pros

The technical support staff really goes overboard to be helpful. In the system itself I have learned TD is very versatile. Creating organizers and pipelines have been challenging but as I have worked with other types of programs I find TD has an ease of use. I created the pipeline we use for taxes and find it is easy to manage the tax jobs with this system.

Cons

When creating organizers having to move questions up and down on the page is a little awkward. Trying to locate videos and articles is daunting. I first reach out to support with questions and for articles/videos to save time.

### "You'll regret it"

July 4, 2025

2.0

Really frustrating. It's obvious that this was not created with real tax preparers being consulted. Conversion process is a nightmare. I've gone through 2 already and I wouldn't do it again if you paid me.

Pros

That I can track time and invoice immediately off it that. That I can store documents straight from tax software. That accounts and contacts are separated.

Cons

1\. I can't combine 2 locations to work. 2. During conversion there is no AR that can be transferred. 3. I can mass print anything.4. I can't enter item charges before creating an invoice, I have to enter 1 hr time entries. 5. Invoices show no client address for mailings. 6.Recurring invoices throw off sequential invoice numbers. 7. TaxDome will only allow 1 bank account to be set up for incoming payments. How does that help multiple locations? 8. When charges are rejected for NSF they still show as paid in TaxDome.

### "Game Changer for receiving documents!"

October 30, 2025

4.0

TaxDome has been a huge plus for our firm. We have increased efficiency with receiving documents and communication with clients using the chat feature. There are many features that we haven't even started to use yet, so I imagine the benefits would only be greater as we utilize it more!

Pros

Taxdome has been essential in improving our efficiency in receiving documents, not only with tax returns, but with audits, as well.

Cons

Many features are overwhelming to learn to use, and we haven't had/made the time to try to use them within our firm.
