Pros

The selling point for me was having a digital organizer with smart questions and being able to have clients upload documents right there. The unlimited storage was also a big key.

Cons

I would like to see them add a way to import the common data entered into the questionnaire be able to import into my tax software to populate a return instead of having to manually type everything. Also a seperate pipeline for prospects for accounting, bookkeeping, taxes, and marketing would be amazing.

### "Great Way To Automate Tax Prep Processes and Improve Client Experience"

Overall, it's a great tool that I have already seen benefit from, and I'm looking forward to using it to save a lot of admin time for my practice. This will be my first tax season using it with my clients.

Pros

I like how easy the automation customizations are. Once you set up a good template for certain types of jobs and clients, it saves a lot of time having to do repetitive tasks. Very active community and the developers are always making improvements based on realtime feedback from users. I feel confident it will only continue to improve as a software.

Cons

It does have a learning curve figuring out how to use it to its full capacity, but once you get the logic of it, it's not too bad. I think the client portal could be simplified, there's a lot of things in different locations, like messaging app, to-do lists, contracts, documents. It could be a little more intuitive and easy for clients to navigate. Also the document storage and file folder section is a little bulky. It would be nice to be able to drag and drop files.

### "Powerful Tool for Your Accounting Business"

I am going to be using TaxDome as an all in one tool to run my practice. So far, I am amazed by how much time it is helping me save. It will also help me to hire a few employees and staff since I am growing. It makes it easy to track and delegate tasks.

Pros

I like most that this software is an all-in-one tool. It is packed with useful features and can streamline the way that an accounting professional runs their firm. The support is also excellent, offering white glove, in person onboarding and well organized manuals. I have also heard from my clients that the client interface is easy to use. They have been more responsive to me on this tool than the tool I was using previously.

Cons

The pros about this tool are almost the cons! There are so many features to unlock and learn about. There are also a few features that need to be added into it (although I see that it is still being devleoped). It needs to have a feature that allows the firm to sign documents as well as the client (rather than using a pasted signature that is easy to forge). It also needs to have more templates for workflows and contracts (or at least better ones). I also think that TaxDome would benefit from a user group in which users can share best practices and templates and tools.

Overall, I have had a good experience with Tax Dome. I really like how it is layed out and it seems to provide a lot of the functions I need to run my accounting practise. Customer support has been great!

Pros

There are so many features and it seems like it can really reduce the number of apps needed to run an accounting practise. It is organized in a very functional way and set up very well for accountants. Customer support has been fantastic!

Cons

There are so many features, it can get overwhelming. There are easy tutorials on everything. The client portal looks great but I worry that it may be too complicated for clients. It may be better to simplify it but I am still waiting to hear back from clients about it.

### "New Tax Dome User"

I am very pleased overall with Tax Dome. I love that it has the ability to have knowledge based identity verification with the e signatures and the unlimited storage capability. It has taken a few days to transition, but I think I will be very pleased with it.

Pros

My favorite thing about Tax Dome is the price of the electronic signatures and the ability to have a client portal as only one user. Most companies require 3-5 users and e signatures cost a significant amount on top of that. It was also easy to import my client list to create the accounts and contacts to immediately have all of my clients there and ready to go.

Cons

The user interface is a lot more complicated than I'm used to in a client portal, but some of that is because of all of its capabilities. In the beginning, it is a little more difficult to figure out how to get documents and signature requests to the clients.

### "TaxDome is a must! "

Instead of using multiple applications, we have one central system to use everyday which has become a life saver. We can organize our clients by service and make sure no one falls through the cracks. The Tax Dome team has also been super accommodating and patient as we learn the ins and outs.

Pros

We've been looking for a program that has it all and we finally stumbled across Tax Dome. Even as a small company, we process over 1,000 tax returns a year, plus offer bookkeeping services, as well as other financial services. We needed a service that had it all in one place with an efficient task manager. We've been able to stay more organized and increase our scale of business.

Cons

The integration took a little while to be fully completed, and of course there's a learning curve with a new program/software, but we're confident, with practice, Tax Dome will only become easier to use.

### "Implementation is a commitment"

Support has been great. Without easy access to support, the implementation learning curve would have me worried. There is lots that is intuitive, but I know the automation would have been harder to get right without the resources provided during set up.

Pros

Right now, we're using multiple spreadsheets to track projects. These are clunky to upkeep and difficult to get an overview from, especially as we grow. I'm very much looking forward to replacing several spreadsheets with one streamlined workflow that prompts uniform use with all employees.

Cons

Not having Tasks that will recur indefinitely doesn't really make sense to me. I feel like the pipeline with automation makes sense for tax prep or monthly books, but for biweekly AR/AP workflow, I just need tasks with better recurring options.

### "New to TaxDome, initial thoughts!"

Full client and firm management, with taskings and secure data access for all clients. Connected firm website with client portal on our domain is huge for us.

Pros

The amount of information and demographics that can be captured for each client. The customizable letters (have not seen all areas), but during the trial was able to get a feel for how things may be a lot more easily customized to our firm desires.

Cons

Migrations from other platforms never are fun, but this con may be different depending on where you are migrating from. Integration with UltraTax is not two-way (not sure any of them are, but would love to have the option to use this over Onvio and have a complete firm management experience with ability to open tax returns directly and track time/project costs). Canopy had a notice management platform, not seeing that in TaxDome.

### "Best Tax/Accounting Office Management"

Pros

Workflow management, task tracking, and ability to manage emails to/from clients across various staff.

Cons

Lack of ability to backup job data and notes to an external source. I want this to be able to print notes and job progress to a client file, or if TaxDome were to ever go away, or even if we decided to leave for any reason, so that we'd have proper backup. This was the single biggest factor that almost made our company not commit to TaxDome, but we hope they will add this ability in the future. Time tracking has a long way to go to be useful. Invoicing needs more features, such as discounting, etc.

GREAT. I was up and running with clients in the pipeline within a week. I'm going to get help redoing my website before next tax season gets going. I did it on my own and know they'll do a much better job than me. It's there forte . :-)

THEY LISTEN! If a suggestion is posted ALL users can vote on the functionality and discuss. If it's viable and doable - THEY DO IT. Internal PDF editor, Done. Fixed issues with client app. Done. Request for FIRM side app. DONE. Request for updates to PDF editor - DONE. Request for live, secure Chat (with attachments) . DONE. Request for Firm and Client e-signature support. Done. Request for online payment processing. Done. These are all requests we asked for and voted on. What software company does that today? THEY ALL SHOULD!! Also, Unlimited Storage. Free on-boarding service. Free website setup. Support video's for every topic. Chat response (decent automated and live) Quick Response to email support. If your Tax software does a TaxDome export the setup for me was insanely easy.

TaxDome is great we love the client portal feature along with the clients being able to sign things online without having to exit the client portal and sending the documents through another service. We also love that we can bill our clients using TaxDome.

It is user friendly and everything we need is all in one.

My overall experience with TaxDome has been great. Found all the account and bookkeeping essentials that I need to thrive as a business.

Pros

I love the pipeline features and how easy it us to use. I am still earning to use it. As I am expanding the company all the features are great additions to my firm and nothing beats having a piece of mind , because we all know, IRS doesn't play.

Cons

Id like to have easier access to new contracts/pipelines .

### "Tax Dome New User 2021"

I wanted to employ a portal that clients find easy to use and offers, as much as possible, a one-stop shop for them. Frankly, I am spending the next year playing with Canopy, Drake, and TaxDome (call it research), to see which one makes most sense to adopt in the end.

Pros

Nice ability to customize portal access and email notifications, the Z-Drive is handy, and the portal does get regular improvements such as PDF merge and the new Firm App which show they are interested in adding improvements. For a solo shop, it's one of the best values out there. In comparison, I have used Canopy Tax and Drake portals, which is pretty good if you use Drake Tax since it is fully integrated with its own document manager, but it has no app, and I think most portals should have an app these days.

Cons

As of my trial (mid 2021), the time entry system wasn't very useful. There was no way to even export time, let alone see in-portal reports. I have also used Canopy Tax Portal, and I wish Tax Dome would employ a similar time entry system also-- allow me to punch in to any client (and job preferably) quickly with one or two clicks, including from the app. I think the Canopy app is a bit more elegant and streamlined. It conveniently lists external links the practitioner might wish to use (like external calendars, payment pages or similar). Then again, Canopy is almost ridiculously priced (and it's a bit like negotiating a used car). It seems, though, that giving the practitioner the ability to define some custom external links they want their clients to have access to from the portal would be a simple add-on.

Reason for choosing TaxDome

Still running a trial for the next year between the three. I think it will be either Tax Dome or Drake Portals (simply because I use Drake Tax and Portals is built for it).

I can share client info in a secure fashion. I can also get documents signed by my clients faster since my clients are mostly remote.

Pros

Client Portal very user friendly and friendly for my clients as well

Hard to navigate the workflow system and it seems very time consuming to impliment

### "Best Client Portal"

I am loving it! My clients also tell me that it is very easy to create an account and upload documents.

Pros

I love that I can just click on the client name, and I can instantly see their documents, emails, contact information, messages, etc. Once a client sets up their account, if there are previous emails from past years, they automatically merge with the client account, so I am able to see their old emails, which is a neat feature for documentation purposes.

Cons

I wish there was a way you guys could also offer scheduling and appointment reminders and do email marketing. That way I would just use TAX DOME for everything.

### "Automating My Life"

So far, I've used the product with just a couple of clients as I'm still setting it up. I walked through it myself from the client-side and it seems very professionally put together and works smoothly.

Pros

I like that TaxDome is just about all-in-one. It tracks client communications in one place, takes client payments, tracks the stages my different projects are in and automatically communicates with clients.

Cons

It does take a bit of work to get it set up and customized. There are templates that give you a head start, but many have spelling or grammar mistakes and can't be used blindly.

### "Great product so far!"

Pros

I just started my practice about a year ago and started with the Intuit family using Intuit Practice Management (aka Karbon). However, the increased fees this summer led me to explore alternatives. TaxDome does everything that Karbon/IPM does and then some! I've been really pleased with integrations and templates available in TD.

Cons

I think there is room for improvement with the invoicing process/customization. This is a great improvement if you are doing old-school bills, but not up to snuff to invoice capabilities for most online applications.

### "Best tax software we've ever used"

Could not be more pleased with the software so far. Our firm has a somewhat unique onboarding process and TaxDome has been able to handle all of the modifications. More than anything, the support has been AMAZING! Every onboarding session we've had has been with a different rep and they're all incredibly knowledgeable about the product and the tax process in general. We're just getting started and just on the onboarding process TaxDome is going to save us at least a dozen hours a week.

Pros

Clearly designed for tax professionals. Other client portal and workflow software were workable, but still could not handle a lot of the processes we need.

Cons

Some additional customization on contracts (such as both a team member and client signing them) would be nice. Overall, extremely pleased.

Pros

The automated workflows have been fabulous for productivity.

Cons

The task screen needs to allow for more characters. When I look at all of my tasks, I can only see the first few words. I don't use it for task tracking due to this.

Fantastic! I have used other programs and TaxDome allows for an easy client management solutions and incorporates all of the necessary integrations to save time.

Pros

Cutting edge client solutions and great customer support.

Cons

Jobs & project workflow takes a little time to become accustomed to.
