Getting started was time-consuming but it is worth it in the end. I have used many practice management applications in the past and this is my favorite.

Pros

Intuitive workflow. Customizable pipelines and an extensive library of templates and tutorials. Support listens and improves the application based on feedback provided. We have a designated representative that is always available for questions and support.

Cons

There are no pre-formatted deadlines for basic filing dates. I feel there are too many updates/changes during peak season.

I love the automation, however, I struggle with trusting the company. Not being able to do a bulk back up and having some of the features not work properly worries me.

Tags system Emails are never captured not able to make a separate backup of all documents and/or other items in bulk

We are comparatively new to TaxDome, 6 Months now. We have found it very handy for communication, data sharing and workflow & Proposal approvals. Easy to design your own workflow.

Task management, job allocation, work proposals, approvals, electronic signatures and folder sharing

Cons

Working with periodic dates tracking documents Reporting KPI with Realtime update. It takes more time and most of the times return no results.

TaxDome is our go to program. Having an app that clients can use on their phone is key. We have been using TaxDome for 2 years now after trying many other popular workflow and secure portal programs. We have liked TaxDome the best out of all we have tried. The recent multiple price increases are what has kept me from giving it 5 stars. For a small firm it is becoming price prohibitive.

Pros

TaxDome is easy to use. The majority of our clients love it and it is easy for them to use. Having an app they can use on their phone is key. We have been using TaxDome for 2 years now after trying many other popular workflow programs. We have liked TaxDome the best out of all we have tried.

Cons

Price increase after selling it as no increases on price for those that came on in the beginning. The price of the program is getting high and we may have to begin looking for another program. Problems/glitches in the program that are reported by users and no followup or resolving the issue. Adding new "features" when existing features need to be updated or worked on.

Cons

### "2025 Tax Dome Review"

We have been using Tax Dome for approximately three years. Besides our tax software, most everything we do for firm management and service delivery is done via Tax Dome. We were able to self-service most of the set-up and annual maintenance, supported by helpful online support videos and our dedicated technical rep.

Pros

Tax Dome presents an all-in-one solution for firms, eliminating the need to have various fragmented software to manage clients, workflow, electronic signatures, communications and document storage. Their customer support is great as well!

Cons

Right now there are very few things I dislike. Nothing that is notable.

TaxDome makes the difference between me having a business or having a hobby.

Pros

It is user-friendly to the client. As both a taxpayer and a tax accountant, I have seen my fair share of secure portals. I even test drove three products when I start my tax firm. The other two (which were big names in the industry) were unusable.

Cons

It has a learning curve that the accountant needs to overcome in order to utilize its full capability. It takes about one tax season to get the basics down, but TaxDome did give me some one-on-one orientation when I first bought it. I also don't like the price discounts if you pay for several years in advance. How am I supposed to know if I'll even be in the tax business in 2-3 years. Discounts should reward loyalty.

We are very happy with tax dome. The onboarding and customer service has been top notch both for the support it gave/gives and the ease of contacting someone.

Pros

The esignature feature is so easy to use. Our firm loves it but having our clients use it and love it what is important.

Cons

Can't load it on my mac. I tried to download the beta version but couldn't get it to work. Will be happy when that feature is available.

I really like the product but wish it was more affordable for small firms. It is hard to justify the cost each year as pricing continues to rise.

Pros

It helps streamline our processes and is user-friendly for our clients. I like that it is a secure way to transfer documents between us and our clients.

Cons

The pricing. For a single-user accounting firm, it is very expensive. Occasionally there is down time during busy times.

It was a slow process for me to get started and that is not on Tax Dome but now it has increased my customer service tremendously with my clients and well as helped my staff eliminate a lot of unnecessary calls and communications since my clients can access and communicate with us through Tax Dome!

Pros

I love that everything I need is in one place. I don't need multiple programs to do what is needed for my firm.

Cons

I would like the calendar feature to link with Outlook so I can see my "tax" calendar and my daily calendar but that is a personal preference.

### "TaxDome, worth the time it takes to setup"

TaxDome had a significant learning curve, and there are a few nuances that take some getting used to, but once you become a regular user, it smooths out and becomes a great help. Most clients love the app, but we have had a few that don't like it....

Pros

Client portal is great - comes with a client app that includes a document scanner and secure chat feature. The ability to print to TaxDome from other apps is great, and ability to collect KBA signatures is convenient and simple.

Cons

Creating file backups is slow and inconvenient, once a client has been inactivated, the ability to see their files and back them up goes away. Price increases and package changes have been dramatic and surprising. Setup does take a significant amount of time, but once you complete setup, TaxDome is great!

### "Improving more and more each day."

So far, I'm loving it. I am getting more familiar with it and subscribed to the TaxDome youtube channel and I am constantly learning new things that will make my life easier going forward.

Pros

The automation processes. It is a lot upfront work, but once you get dialed in, it is very powerful. Pipelines, reminders, approval, signatures and invoices being attached to documents etc.

Cons

I haven't found many. Couple hiccups here and there, but it is more associated with the learning curve.

I use TaxDome for many parts of managing my practice. It has helped me to think of my practice in new ways and service more clients without compromising on quality

Pros

I like that the software integrates many components of my business into one platform. It does many of these with lots of efficiency. I also like that they have been able to continue to improve the platform over time. It will be cool to see what improvements they make going forwards.

Cons

The folder system is a little bit clunky. It is improving but I think there are improvements they could make. It would be cool to make PDF and JPEG edits inside the software. I also think that the time entry tool could be more agile. If I forget to enter my time for a couple of days, it becomes a big task that should be easier to enter.

### "Taxdome changed my business"

I have been using it for over five years now and it has saved me countless hours. Taxdome has helped me take my part-time side hustle business to a full-time firm in 2025.

Pros

Taxdome is the most valuable tool I have in my solo practice arsenal. It would be hard to pick just one thing I like most about using it. It makes securely sharing information, managing all of the work, and getting paid, among other things, very easy.

Cons

I really don't have any negative feedback. If I had to point out anything, there have been a small handful of times over the years where the service has been temporarily down or slow during our busy season, but it has always been temporary and has come to be expected with any cloud based software. Overall, the software has been a game changer for my practice. I think my biggest fear has been that they are very good at what they do and have grown pretty quickly as a result. I hope that they are able to maintain the same level of product quality and service as they continue to grow.

Cons

Taxdome could improve the level of detail on how the workflow progresses. I’m not familiar with the customer service or other aspects, as I don’t work in that area.

We needed to move from a very clunky portal to something more user friendly! It's mostly filled that bill, but at a significant cost.

Pros

It's easy for clients to upload documents and for sending completed tax returns for esignature. The chat feature is useful as well.

Cons

The cost! It's increased significantly in a very short time. Also, the pipelines are not intuitive at all. We've spent quite a bit of time and money attempting to get it set up properly.

What I liked least was the setup phase. TaxDome is powerful, but dialing in templates, automations, and settings took real time before the system hit its full stride.

Pros

TaxDome made the collaboration easier among team member. We store all files for our clients and our clients don't reach out anymore asking for things because they know everything is organized and ready to export. The signatures feature is also really helpful so we got rid of our other e-signatures software.

Cons

Nothing significant at this time. From the client side, I personally would make it even more white labelled so it looks part of my website rather than an external platform.

Some things work really well. Some things are really challenging like stated above.

workflow, creating signature docs within TD.

Cons

signature docs not cancelling, or being able to delete voided signature docs. Also the Tax Dome app not working with the online version. I have to save to the hard drive and upload to TD website

Pros

I like that TaxDome is secure, systematic, automated and that the activities are documented. I also like the fact that there is on-demand video training for anything you need to do with the platform.

Getting started /setting up was a challenge for me. However, the TaxDome customer service staff is amazing! They provided customized assistance.

I really like having an “all-in-one” software. Being able to manage client information, communicate, and handle invoicing all in one place has been really great.

Cons

The technical aspects of setting up the software for manual payments were a little tricky, but we were able to work through it with the help of the support team.

So far, my experience with TaxDome has been great—I love it, and clients appreciate how easy it is to upload documents and provide information. The pipelines are user-friendly and customizable to fit our needs. Collaboration is seamless, and document management is efficient and straightforward.

Pros

I love the seamless collaboration between clients and staff. The Client App is my favorite feature—it makes uploading documents incredibly easy and convenient.

Cons

Waiting for new features to be released, but I understand that good things take time—so it's not really a con! The only other thing is the Docs shared with Client & Private, wish there was an way to easily copy files from Private to Docs shared with client.
